I've never tried eating at 'authentic' Mexican places. This caught my attention when I was looking for places to eat. Forget Taco Bell, there's a place like this that exists! I ordered grilled chicken fajitas. I didn't expect them to add bell peppers, which I don't mind. It adds so much flavor and I enjoyed every bite of it. Since I am allergic to beans, I asked to add more rice and remove the beans. I wasn't sure if they can understand English, so I used google translate and made it simple for them to understand. It worked! I was happy with what I order. Not only that, they added chips as well. I can tell it's handmade since it tasted so warm and if you leave it out without finish it, it gets stale. No preservatives! Definitely recommend coming to this place if you ever want to try Mexican food! read more

We came here and tried the Molcajete and it was delicious! We got the single portion and it was big enough for my husband 10 year old and myself to all have plenty to eat. The sauce has a really good flavor and their salsas are also great. My only complaint is I feel like they need to have guacamole on the menu or at least serve the Molcajete with a side of sliced avocado but other than that it's great. I had wanted to order quesobirria tacos, but unfortunately they aren't currently available to order through GrubHub. I decided on a Mixed Familiar Plate instead and I am SO HAPPY! Grilled steak, grilled chicken and shrimp with cactus, roasted chilies, tomatillo sauce and melted cheese, served with a side of rice, beans and tortillas. They also included some tortilla chips! (not pictured) I had contemplated upgrading to a family size meal so I had some to take home, but this was a lot of food! The portion is so generous! This would definitely feed me for several meals. I am crazy for molcajetes. CRAZY! So you best believe that when I learned of a restaurant bearing that dish as it's moniker, it got moved to the very top of my (exceptionally long) "must visit" eatery list. The bad thing about molcajetes, though, is that you have to share with someone else. So you've got to have a willing partner OR you capitalize on it when your spouse is trying to be especially agreeable and tell him it's the only thing in the whole wide world that you want for lunch. Muahaha! This is a teeny little restaurant, housed in a strip next to Anaya's Market (stop by for some killer cheap baked goods and less common Mexican produce). There are about six tables inside, and we noticed many people taking orders to go, so I think they may do more business that way. It's a little divey, but clean. It was quite busy at lunchtime, with just one woman doing all the serving, cashiering (?), etc, but she handled it like a champ! You would expect that they'd have a variety of molcajetes, and they do: Three sizes (plus a giant parrillada!), with the option of either chicken, beef, or a mix of those two and the addition of shrimp. I will pretty much eat anything, so long as it's "real food," but I abhor shrimp. Don't try to talk me out of it. It looks like an insect, and it's all chewy and just...no thanks. I didn't think the 1-2 person molcajete would be sufficient, so we ordered the familiar size (serves for 3-4), asked for mixed with no shrimp, and our kind server suggested chorizo as a replacement. Um, yes please! I also requested a small side of lettuce, as it's nice to eat some raw vegetables to break up all the heavy cooked stuff. With that said, they have a small salsa bar of pickled veggies, fresh cilantro and onion, four salsas, and this oily mystery condiment that I didn't try because it looked hot af. All the salsas besides the one served with the complimentary chips are pretty spicy too, but not just for the sake of heat. They had really great flavor, and were worth the pain. We received our order within about fifteen minutes, and oh man, it was glorious, arriving all steaming hot in a gigantic ebony lava bowl. All meat was cooked to perfection, melty pockets of cheese greeted each dip in the tangy tomatillo sauce, and the onion and nopales brought everything together deliciously. The corn tortillas looked like they might be homemade, though don't hold me to that. I quite enjoyed the rice, which is not always my favorite, and really the only thing I didn't care for were the refried beans that we found a bit bland, but worse, were served nearly cold. They were improved when smothered in tomatillo sauce, so it wasn't a complete loss. We gorged ourselves on this feast, and once stuffed, found we had barely put a dent in it! Other menu options consist of Mexican standards, a lot of seafood, breakfast, milkshakes, horchata, and honestly, it all sounded so delicious I was almost sorry I'd decided on the molcajetes ahead of time. And it was an amazing deal at $26, especially considering it served as two very filling meals for two adults! Even if it had only been for lunch I'd still think it was awesome. I got a mocajete platter, family size. There was steak, chicken breast, chicken thigh, shrimp, jalopenos, onions, cactus and cheeses. It came with a side of refried beans, rice, and homemade tortilla. Oh and red and green salsa. Everything had a fresh and tastey flavor. Nothing tasted canned, everything tasted made to order. I ordered the Parrillada for my family of 5 on a Tuesday evening and was not disappointed! For $75 + tax & delivery & tip, we got a gigantic roasting tray of glorious food: carne asada, chicken, large chunks of chorizo, shrimp, roasted nopales/onions/jalapeños/queso, rice and beans all smothered in amazing salsa, with homemade tortillas, chips and a variety of salsa on the side. It fed my family of 5 with generous portions and we even had plenty of food leftover! With such a large order, our delivery time said it would take 40-45 minutes, however, we received ours about 5-10 minutes earlier than expected. The flavors were on point, but the chicken was a little dry and the shrimp overcooked for my liking, but the rest of my crew didn't seem to mind. I will definitely order from Los Molcajetes again and look forward to trying more of their food and aguas frescas. read more

The meat was great, they don't skimp on shrimp, and the homemade tortillas are outstanding. I will say I have had better rice and beans. We also ordered the chili Verde burrito, have t tried it yet because we were too full but I will say they gave us very generous slices of avocado with it. My husband said his costillas in salsa verde was okay. This place is a sketchy-as-hell, tiny, hole in the wall. That being said, the food was AMAZING. The beans and rice are out of this world, and I had the Camarones de El Diablo, and it was so amazingly delicious. The sauce was just the right amount of heat and it had a creamy, buttery texture. I had the Shrimp Molcajete for 2 and added extra steak to the order. I thought the shrimp and steak were cooked fine but needed salt. I ordered it to my hotel , so i cant write much more then about my order. I wasn't sure about the food but I went off the reviews from Yelp and Im not made. I've had an awful craving for cochinita pibil, and finally got around to satisfying it. Got a torta with cochinita did not disappoint, they did sneak in some ham but it was so good I didn't mind. The bread was soft and warm from being placed on the grill so good. I was missing the red pickled onions but it's ok. If you dine in you get a basket of chips and salsa-the salsa is nothing special, but there's a salsa station which you should try, specially the red sauce flavorful and spicy.the horchata is from the mix nothing special overall great atmosphere specially with the corridos coming from the kitchen makes me miss my ppl.
