I so felt like this could have been so much better than it was... My friend and I were leaving Naples and had looked for a breakfast place that was open early and on our way heading north toward Ft. Myers. We had come across this one during our search and decided to stop in. The space is large and bright. You can watch them making baked goods in a large "aquarium" as you head to the bathroom. Atmosphere was muted as there was only one other party in the restaurant at the time. We were quickly sat at a table and handed menus. Coffee and water were delivered to the table. I ordered the patty melt with cheese and changed the bread to sourdough. I asked for grits on the side with cheese. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits. Then we waited, and waited, and waited... I could see our waitress walking back and forth from the kitchen in back to the front counter, but she never came out with food, nor did she offer us any more coffee. Three other waitstaff were also just hanging around or wandering back and forth. So we continued to wait. Finally, our orders came. I asked for mayonnaise for my melt. We asked for more coffee. Then the waitress disappeared and was not see again until it was time to give us the bill. An older women came by and asked if there was anything we needed, so again we asked for coffee and mayonnaise. I had already noticed that there was no cheese on either my grits or my melt, but by that point we were just trying to get through breakfast so we could get on the road. When the original waitress did come by to bring us our bill, I pointed out that she needed to remove the extra charge for the cheese since there wasn't any on the grits like I'd asked and the burger which is supposed to come with cheese didn't have any. She immediately said that the cook had told her it was "under the patty." Yep, nope. Oh yeah, the food... it was ok. The burger meat was dry with no real seasoning. The grits were grits; nothing exciting there. The only highlight was the maple bacon jam which was actually pretty good, I wish there was a bit more of that. My friend had a similar opinion of her shrimp and grits. The grits were plain. I did taste the sauce which was ok. She stated the ham was a bit "spicy" and that was the only real unique flavor on the dish. We did try a cranberry orange muffin which we had seen them preparing in the glassed-in kitchen and it was just ok. Not sure I'd come back here on a future visit which is disappointing as others seemed to have really enjoyed it.

Great ambiance and service! They even have a drive-through. This place is very welcoming and we had a great Mothers day with the flowers they gave us!

I've been here twice now, so I'm averaging out my rating. The first time I went for breakfast and got the biscuits and gravy - yum! But it's a heavy gravy to biscuit ratio, so I recommend getting some home fries on the side to eat with it. (Sorry, I don't have pics from my first visit... ) The second time I went for lunch and chose the chicken sandwich (regular not spicy). It was okay. I wasn't blown away, but I don't have any specific complaints either. I didn't hate it, but I pry won't order it again. The fries were amazing though! Hot and fresh and seasoned perfectly - no ketchup needed! All in all, LuLu's is a great location for a casual breakfast, brunch or lunch with an inviting atmosphere and friendly staff.

Friendly. Didn't go over the top but then again it seemed like maybe there was a rush and only two servers were on? Didn't matter much because we got what we wanted and needed. I got the shrimp and grits. He got the standard Benedict. I got a side of fried green tomatoes. All was crazy good. Portions were enough to take most home. Food was incredibly rich, but I was happy.

POV: You're finishing your coffee at your favorite breakfast spot and a stranger steals your coffee…read more Okay so. We have been going to The Rooster in Naples for YEARS. Years. Long before it was on food network. The food? Immaculate. Never once had an issue. Today? Today changed everything. Our waitress was an angel, no notes, we love her. We're sitting there, happy, sipping our coffee, not even an hour into the meal, barely finished eating, when suddenly a completely different server materializes out of nowhere and just... puts her hands. On the WHOLE top, every inch of the top half of our coffee cups. Mid sip energy. And starts trying to take it. This was our FIRST ever interaction with this woman. First words exchanged. We say, simply: "we are just going to finish our coffees." She hears us. Denies it. And grabs the cups anyway. I look up like excuse me?? And she looks at me, dead in the eye, and goes: "Well aren't you done?" MA'AM. NO. We were NOT done. We hadn't even finished writing the tip on the receipt which, by the way, she then just SNATCHES off the table. Gone. Like a magic trick nobody asked for, and I certainly didn't order. I say, still not finished. And this is where it gets unhinged, because she goes: "well there's a wait." A wait?? For WHAT. There were FOUR tables open inside. EIGHT tables open outside. Not a single soul waiting for a seat. She said it like she was reading off a script from a restaurant that was actually busy, which plot twist it was not. Then, and I need you to picture this, she starts REACHING ACROSS ME. Full arm extension. Into my personal space. Grabbing plates. Grabbing cutlery. I am frozen. I do not know this woman. She does not know me. And yet here we are, inches apart, over a fork. Questioning if I should ask for her last health test results because we are sharing breaths like a horror movie. My companion, sensing the unhingedness of the woman gets up to go find our ACTUAL waitress, the good one, because at this point all we want in this world is to finish our coffee, leave our 30% tip (we were being SO generous, we do not play like that), and say thank you like normal diners. But does the story end there? IT DOES NOT. Because as my companion is trying to talk to our sweet waitress, coffee cup snatcher strikes again and BUTTS IN. Not once. Multiple times. Interrupting my companion mid-sentence, over and over, like she just could not let the woman finish a single thought. Louder. Meaner. Full attitude, unprompted, uninvited, unwell, unhinged. Our actual waitress, bless her, is apologizing over and over, offers us brand new coffees, offers to reseat us like nothing happened. And she was so genuinely kind about it that we almost said yes. Almost. But we were both so shaken by that point that we just... left. And the WILDEST part? This woman was TRAINING someone. Actively. In real time. Passing the torch. Teaching the next generation how to traumatize brunch customers over a coffee cup. We love The Rooster. But that experience? Left a mark. I'll send you my therapy bill Roosters.
