Food: -Try their style of potatoes! It is very flavorful and uses onions and peppers -I would consider this my #1 breakfast food location and has a unique way of making staple breakfast items -French Toast was extremely satisfying. They offer a cinnamon butter, strawberry topping, and syrup that prompts an array of tastes. -The pecan cream cheese icing that was with the red velvet waffle was amazing! Service: Josh was our server and did NOT miss a beat. He took our order by memory, everything came out perfect, kept my party's glasses full, and did everything with genuine joy. Ambiance: It is a laid back, relaxed, dine in experience. They provide outside seating, normal dining, and bar seats. The decorations are an independent/modern/expressive look that is not "down your throat". I felt comfortable to sit and chat at my leisure
Lulu's is a brunch favorite. I hadn't been in years, but it is still as good today, as it was back in the VCU undergrad years. The only difference now? We can drink Food/Drinks: I had the Crab Omelette, which came with potatoes. I added a side of the cheese grits. Everything was pretty good. The omelette was cooked well and full of crab. The potatoes were well seasoned and really delicious. I am really picky with grits and they were a hit for me. Definitely a nice savory, cheesy flavor. We got a Brazilian Mimosa Pit here and Green Tea Shots. All great. Service: Our waitress was awesome. She was really fun to interact with and checked in often. Overall Vibe: The restaurant was calm today, but it was a weekday. I could see the restaurant being busier on the weekends. The atmosphere was lively, but easy to converse in. Parking could easily bring things down. You would have to snag street parking, most likely. If you are not comfortable with a parallel park, maybe...rethink or carpool. You could, also, make your visit on a weekday. You might be able to find ample room to avoid the stress of a tight squeeze.
I go to this restaurant if I'm looking for a weekend brunch with great vibes and music. It's usually pretty busy so I recommend making a reservation. I started with a tropical mimosa and they definitely know how to make it! I absolutely love the French toast. Their batter is unmatched and the portion size is great. I love the fruit, butter, and other toppings that come in the side as well. This time I got a chicken to go with it for extra protein. Lulu's is a brunch staple and I'll definitely be back!
Took my wife and kids here for Mother's Day brunch and they did not disappoint. You get a feel for what downtown Richmond is about as soon as you walk in. Don't let the outside fool you, it is larger than it looks. Even though it t was busy, our waiter was attentive and patient with us. The food was so flavorful when it arrived, definitely going back.
Got a recommendation from a close friend so after a business mtg I decided brunch was the way to go. You heard it here first: If you go there and don't get the French toast you misunderstood the assignment! I had to start there because it was that good. Soft fluffy, thiccccc lol, with fresh strawberries, house made strawberry jam, some sort of maple butter situation AND maple syrup! And yes I used all of them! Side of bacon and a mimosa and I was a happy man. The area is nice, walkable which is good because it looks like parking can be tricky depending on what time you go. The ambiance is casual, lively and social. I sat at the bar because I was solo and not planing on sticking around long and the Bartender was working her tail off! Serving drinks, taking food and drink orders, checking back on me and others to see what we needed, she was doing it all! I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Lulu's is a bit hard to find, as it's in a mall area with no signage from the street. We actually asked two men we saw on the street where it was! It's also very popular -- so much so that we were told we'd have to wait 2 hours to sit inside! So, on a very cool Sunday morning, our party of 6 had to sit outside on the patio. There were heaters, but they weren't all that strong because of the wind. They have quite a variety on their menu, and if you don't want the meals they offer, it's very easy to put together something else (as my sister did). I had the red velvet waffle, which was really good. It came with fruit on it, and the sauces it came with (cream cheese with pecan, fruit jam, syrup, and butter) were just glorious. Others in my party also enjoyed what they ordered -- especially the spiked coffee drinks! Lulu's is definitely a place to check out!
Unfortunately, Lulu's was underwhelming. I was really excited to try brunch here and had heard quite a few positive things about it, so I'm hopeful today was a one-off. To begin, the reservation was made for the café area, but we were seated in the main dining area. Not the end of the world but also not what was reserved. Then it took a waiter about 20 minutes to take our drink order or even greet us at all. Our food also took a bit longer than usual, but it was peak brunch hour so that wasn't a dealbreaker. However, the food itself was very meh. The "crab" omelette, which was supposed to be jumbo lump crab and goat cheese, was all goat cheese. There were exactly TWO pieces of what looked to be special crab meat, but certainly not jumbo lump. For the chicken and biscuit, the chicken was so overcooked you basically had to cut it like a steak. Ultimately, it was inedible. The sausage gravy was okay, but since it was already on the biscuit and not exactly smothered the biscuit was still pretty dry. I didn't even bother with the potatoes. I'm willing to give it one more try before I write them off completely.
A friend of mine and I try to meet up about every few months. We meet in the Richmond area. We always try to meet up at a new spot. This trip we tried Lulu's. Parking is easier than I personally made it. Ha! 2-3 hour parking is available on the street. There is also a public parking lot just a block away, within viewing distance from the front door. My 4 hours parking in the lot was just over $10. I booked a reservation online with no issue about a week out. We opted for outdoors since it was going to be gorgeous. We were seated immediately on their second patio which is a little smaller with about 4 tables. It was perfect, and quiet. Good area for catching up. Our waiter was great. He had tables both inside and outside and managed them well. I never wondered where he was or needed to wait to ask for something. Now the food. It lives up to the popularity. I opted for the chicken biscuit. It had great flavors throughout. The grits were perfect! The red velvet waffle strawberry shortcake waffle was very filling and heavy. My friend's apple bread pudding was the best of the two! All our food was cooked perfectly. Our favorite savory meal was the Crab Omelette. I've never had one before, but will consider ordering one in the future. Overall our visit was good.
Wow. They had me at Fried chicken and red velvet waffle. Stupendous. The gravy had just a bit of heat, chicken had perfect crunchy coating, waffle was moist and yummy. And the hash browns, oh, the hash browns. So much flavor. (It came with scrambled eggs, but that was too much food for me and so I shared.) Everyone was happy with their choices, service was excellent, and I loved the vibe.
The food at LuLu's, Absolutely amazing. I had the chicken and red velvet waffle breakfast, and it was perfection. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and Lulu's, velvet waffle had just the right amount of sweetness and it paired really well with the potatoes and onions. Honestly, I couldn't have been happier with the meal itself. But the service and setup? That's where the ball was dropped. It was December, and they only had outdoor seating available for the times my friends and I wanted to eat. There was only one heat lamp for per tablee, and when we asked if they could add another, they said they couldn't. So we were left sitting in the cold because one lamp just wasn't enough to keep us warm. On top of that, the wind was blowing napkins off the table, which made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. The waiter also didn't come outside very often, probably because of how cold it was. But if it's too cold for the staff, it's definitely too cold for the guests. Adding something like a plastic tent to block the wind and keep the heat in could have made the whole experience so much better. It just felt like they weren't equipped to handle outdoor dining during the winter. So overall, Lulu's gets 3 stars from me. The food was incredible, but the service and setup need serious improvement if they're going to keep offering outdoor seating in the colder months. I'd definitely be back to dine inside or when the weather is warmer the next time I'm in Richmond.

I visited this place today (Tuesday) around 10am. It wasn't busy at all but we were asked about a reservation. Generally, reservations are required (I think) but if it's not busy, you're fine. We were seated fairly quickly and bought glasses of water. For a brunch place, their menu seems fairly limited but I'm sure anyone could find something they like. I ordered the croissant sandwich with bacon and over medium eggs. The eggs were as runny as expected but the sandwich still turned out good. The cheese was placed on the croissant rather than the egg so I thought that was a unique but nice touch. The mimosa was good as well. My friend ordered the burger with no complaints. We both liked the potatoes but they needed a little salt and pepper. Overall, a good experience. I'd try it out again. Note: we parked on the street and outdoor seating was available read more

A great brunch place for larger groups! It was easy for us to get a reservation in the morning over the holidays. Get a mimosa - it comes in a pint glass, rather than a champagne flute. The eggs Benedict was pretty average. Nothing spectacular but still tasty. The seasoning on the potatoes was great! Overall, would recommend. read more

Loved the food at this breakfast place! It was so genius and so yummy!!! The helpings were HUGE and every single bite was so good! The waffles were worth the hype, and the pecan spread alone is worth ordering from here!!! So absolutely yummy. Also, bread pudding, HUGE hit at our table! Even my picky eater after kids loved it and they love NOTHING! All the different meats were cooked to perfection!!! LOVED it!! The service was wonderful! Waiter checked on us MANY times and was super sweet and helpful! The only downfall? The music WAS SO FREAKING LOUD. We literally couldn't hear each other or the waitress. It kind of messed up the whole breakfast because we were looking for relaxing, and this place sounded like a club at 2 AM on a Saturday night! Everything else was so wonderful, it's just so hard to enjoy a place when it's 9 AM and the music is BLARING! Other than the music we loved it. I FINALLY had the chance to try this restaurant. It has been in my list for years. I will say it is worth the wait. I ate here for brunch many years ago before I knew about Yelp. I am glad I got to come back. Although it happened during COVID, so I wasn't able to have the dine in experience. The process doe ordering was easy and very breezy. I ordered the Atlantic Omelette which comes with potatoes and I added a side of strawberries. The omelette has tomatoes and lobster and crab (there are some items that I asked not to have in it and I added Swiss cheese). There was a heathy serving of both crab and lobster. The hollandaise sauce was good as well. I also ordered their famous red velvet waffle. It was fluffy and so delicious. I loved the strawberry compote and the butter on it. It taste so good. It comes with all toppings on the side so that you can prep it at home. My significant other ordered the lobster biscuit. He said that it was very good. It was like a lobster omelette with other veggies and sat on top of a tossed English muffin with potatoes. It looked like a lot of food and looked filling and delicious. We will definitely order from here again. The only downside is that we live outside of the delivery area. I would love to not have to leave my house each time I want this delicious breakfast/brunch food. read more

This was actually a dope spot. We were having a going away for a co-worker and I really just pulled this place up and decided it would be great for brunch. It was definitely not a disappointment. We loved it. The food was great. The staff was very attentive and made sure we all got what we needed. The atmosphere was chill and a great vibe. Parking wasn't bad, we parked in a lot not far way and had like a 5 minute walk. You do have to pay for parking....however....it's not expensive. I think the location is great, but I may be basis to loving a downtown city feel. I recommend this for brunch with the girls, coworkers, the boys.....just a great spot to gather for any group for good food and service. read more
Cute breakfast spot in Shockoe Bittom with great service and food. I went on a Sunday morning not too long after they opened and service was fast and great. I ordered the French toast which came with bacon and potatoes, I added scrambled eggs. Everything was cooked to perfection. It seems like they get busy pretty fast so I'd assume there could be a wait depending on the time you go to dine. I would definitely recommend LuLu's. read more

Absolutely Delicious!!! I had the shrimp and grits and my friend had the red velvet waffle with fried chicken. We literally at everything from our plates. The mimosas made it that much more enjoyable! Andrea was a great waitress. We'll definitely visit again when in Richmond. read more
Sunday brunch with a girlfriend. The vibe inside was nice and outside as well. There were fans outside because it was hot. The mimosas were flowing. The waitress was ok. The food was mediocre. I had a Cajun shrimp breakfast bowl over potatoes that was meh. My friend had a seafood omelette that was meh. We stayed for maybe an hour. The food did come quickly. This place gets a Katrina E. Yelp Elite 5 star review based on food quality and taste. Consistency is key and Lulu's delivers every time. I'm a HUGE fan of the crab omelette, it slaps your taste buds with goodness at every bite. The potatoes are seasoned oh so well, so ketchup is optional around here. Then there's the mimosas, they sell them in pitchers so yeah, tipsy brunch spot on deck. They have indoor and outdoor seating so variety! But try to make a reservation on the weekend or be prepared to wait for seating, but trust me, the wait is worth it. So my man gets the French toast here and apparently "it's flavorful and cooked to perfection" But the menu is fire so don't take my word and pictures for it, come eat here and find out for yourself. Got breakfast here the other morning, made reservations online - super easy. We got there early and they were able to seat us. Service speed was good and everyone was friendly. I got the red velvet waffles and fried chicken with a hot coco. The hot coco was tasty, liked it a lot. The waffles were a little dry and dense. The chicken was tasty, but the potatoes were a little too peppery for my taste and the egg texture was a little to slimy. read more
We recently visited RIchmond Virginia and we stopped at LuLu's for lunch one day during the trip. Loved it! We walked by on our way to another destination and decided to do lunch here. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the Red Velvet Chicken and Waffles. The other half got a burger. We each had a beer. The food and drink were great. I will say that the red velvet waffle while it looked it is was not particularly very tasty. I would maybe ask for a regular waffle instead. Otherwise my food was delicious. The sausage gravy that came with my meal was out of this world. If I ever go back I would order the sausage gravy and biscuits. There was parking nearby. The parking was free for an hour but we paid to park because we were in the neighborhood for longer. The bathrooms here were a bit messy. However overall it was a great experience! read more
Stopped here for a weekday brunch after exploring Richmond. We were HUNGRY and I had heard a lot about their chicken & red velvet waffle so we figured we'd give it a try. And by that I mean every single person at our table ordered the chicken & red velvet waffle! It did not disappoint. I was very pleasantly surprised at just how much came with our order - a generous amount of chicken on top of a large red velvet waffle with two scrambled eggs, house potatoes, and a yummy sausage gravy! Needless to say, I was very very full. Besides the amazing food, our server was very attentive, the ambiance was nice, and the food came out to us in a timely manner. We have been wanting to come here for a few years. I was a tad disappointed in the food. The waffles & French toast made up for it little. I ordered a side of eggs, sausage, potatoes, sausage gravy & biscuit (I wanted to try a mixture of things to see what I liked). The sausage gravy is amazing. Definitely something I could come back & order. The fried potatoes were too spicy for my taste. It definitely tasted as if they had too much pepper or too much of something. The eggs are ok. The sausage is great as well. The biscuits are HUGE! Now onto what the hubby ordered. Which was a side of red velvet waffles & French toast. Both were refreshingly delicious. I also got hot chocolate which tasted like more milk or water than actual hot chocolate. Presentation was ok though. Would I revisit? Maybe to try something different. read more

My wife and family in Richmond went to Lulu's for an early Mothers Day brunch. Thankfully we had a reservation because the place was packed and lots of people were waiting to be seated. Our reservation was at 12:45 and we were able to find seating fairly quickly after arrival. Although we got our drink orders out rather quickly, the food took a long time to come out. We waited over 30 min for our meals. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or just couldn't keep up with all the orders but it was fairly noticeable to everyone at the table and the waiter. The staff was nice and the food was decent but I don't think it was worth the wait. My wife ordered the red velvet waffles. She and I were too crazy about the dish but we found the Atlantic Omelette to be rather tasty. The seating booths could definitely use an update like cushions/new wood if they are going to have us waiting that long for our food. read more

OMG go for the brunch NOW! I had the TOA omelet (tomato, onion, Avocado + white cheddar) and my partner had the shrimp and grits. Both were large portions and absolutely delicious! My Entree came with house potatoes that were also very scrumptious. I dipped them all in the Diablo hot sauce drizzled on the plate (see photo) and happily gobbled them down. Drip coffee was also nice and strong. Super relaxed vibe and all the breakfast classics with a southern nod. Almost ate here 2 mornings in a row... it was that tasty! read more

Ate at Lulu's for brunch randomly and couldn't have been happier about my decision. The restaurant was a little full, but they happened to have space at the bar. The bartender was amazing! Hard to find customer service like that now a days. I had the Seafood Trio Omelette. This was one of their specials for the day. I found a piece of parchment paper in my omelette, which may have just been stuck to an ingredient, but the restaurant was more than happy to correct this. I didn't mind the accidental find, but was pleasantly surprised to see the care they took to address it. Will definitely return. I called ahead for a party of 2 so that I could get a feel for their seating availability. They said that at that time they had availability so I decided to come in. When I arrived, my party was seated immediately. Shortly after being seated, we were greeted by the bartender, Aaliyah. Aaliyah was very kind, fast paced but showed us good attention. I ordered the Chicken and Biscuit and I do not regret it! The chicken was seasoned and the biscuit gravy and honey combo was . The water tasted like tap. I'm a water person so I can always tell! The atmosphere was chill and the pop soundtrack was lit. Before today, I had dined at LuLu's once and it wasn't very memorable. But, I'll definitely be back! read more

Brunch is excellent. I have returned twice and ordered the same dish, CORNED BEEF HASH. The poached egg is cooked to perfection! Our table also had the red velvet waffle and breakfast nachos as an appetizer. When I return I'd like to try the Atlantic Omelette (included in pictures). My first visit on a Sunday the restaurant was very loud. The music was great but it was hard to hear my friend talking to me. She was sitting directly across from me. My 2nd visit on a Saturday (made a reservation online, short wait) I brought 5 friends. We were seated in a booth and a had a great time. The music was not as loud as my first visit. Food was delicious and it came out extremely fast! Red velvet waffles was a hit! Could've been shared between 2 people if we would have known the portion would be so large. Added potatoes and bacon for addtl $3.50 potatoes had good amount of fresh onions and peppers. bacon was crispy and cooked Well. Corn beef hash meal was also large portions! Eggs were poached and cooked perfectly to dip potatoes and hash into. Would def recommend making a reservation for breakfast/brunch or arrive early. read more

Holy backdated Yelp review Batman! Sorry for the delay dear readers. We went here on January 1st, 2019 for brunch. Obviously we had done our fair share of partying the night before. We were staying at the Courtyard Marriott a few blocks up so a leisurely walk down to 17th street was chill. We got in and didn't really have to wait. We sat at the bar and finally got some attention and served. I think the people working had also tied one on the night before. We were all rather hungover so the lackluster service should be forgiven. The food was pretty much like everyone says. It was darn good and well plated. I had the Shrimp & Stone-Milled Pimento Grits, my wife had the Chicken & Biscuit, and my sister had the Chorizo Frittata. I don't have a pic nor can I recall what my bro had. Did I mention we were all hungover? I remember the coffee was pretty good. Whatever the case that brunch hit the spot. We all needed it and LuLu's delivered. I would go back if ever I booked myself a room in downtown RVA. Peace. read more

We came on a Sunday for brunch and this place was packed. All the tables were taken and even all the seats at the bar. Good thing we had reservations, some people were waiting and was told they had people with reservations until about 1pm. The music was loud and it was hard to have a conversation with people on your party, vibe was busy and packed. We dubbed it 'boozy brunch vibe' The hostess took us to our table all the way in the back past the restrooms. It was a lot quieter on this side and not as crowded. When we sat down our server greeted us and got our orders fairly quickly. We got the Atlantic, corned beef hash and the red velvet waffles for the kiddos. It didn't take long for our food to arrive. The food was good although our entrees could've used some toast. The kids enjoyed their food as well. The red velvet waffles cake with fresh strawberries, cream and syrup. The kids enjoyed it. The Atlantic was good too and came with lots of cheese. I took a bite from my husbands food and the mozzarella cheese kept going and I pulled my fork toward me. My corned beef hash was flavorful but I thought it had too much potatoes. By the end of our meal there was another worker walking around with a box of donuts asking if you wanted one. I thought that was nice but we were all stuffed from our brunch meal. read more

Great brunch resto! location is at Shockoe bottom! There was a little bit of wait but if any reservations are 10 min late, they will start sitting the next customers. The staff is friendly & attentive! We asked outside sitting but there was construction on the side we sat on. The food was served hot, the eggs were perfect, they had those nice small wedge potatoes, and the fried chicken was good. We had chicken 1/2 & red velvet waffle and Atlantic Omelette with a side of asparagus. Everything was excellent! This is located in a shopping center so plenty of parking with payment but you may have to park on the side and walk to the restaurant. read more
