I've been meaning to check them out for a quite a while and had the opportunity to have lunch there. Although they mainly seem to market themselves as a "burger place", they have lots of other options and I decided to try the chicken hoagie. I really enjoyed it and to my surprise finished off the entire thing. Our server was very nice and engaging. He had a very friendly attitude and checked on us frequently without being overly attentive. The restaurant itself has such a great vibe, having been an old firestation. Your mind wanders around what the walls have seen over the years this building was used as an actual firehouse. My only criticism is that the food was a little slow to be served. Although it wasn't a ridiculous amount of time; waiting is never fun, especially when the restaurant isn't really crowded. Overall it was a very good experience and I'll definitely be back.

Such a neat place! Station 2 was recommended by a local and I'm glad to took his advice. Service was fast and SO friendly. But not in a fake way. Just very genuine. It's March and their special on the board outside was a Reuben burger. Say no more. I was sold before I even entered the building. Rueben's are my fave. And on a big fat ground beef burger? Hardly anything better. My daughter and I both ordered one. She got sweet potato tots and I got a side salad. Salad was very fresh and crisp. Tots were a great flavor and nice and crispy. I wish we had ordered other things to rate! Fun atmosphere. Great food. ONLY downside is parking is terrible. But I assumed that's the nature of the area.

Station 2 is a good option for a late night casual bite since they're open until midnight every day but I wouldn't go otherwise. The food is average and portions are slightly smaller than I'd expect. They do have an option for a half sized burger for $6, which is really nice when you don't want to commit to a full one. The service was a little slow when we went on a weeknight. Also the tables and benches were really sticky.

OMG! This pub was incredible. A great menu and full bar in a repurposed fire house. The staff is great and food and drink are excellent. I had the black and blu burger. My guest had a burger with Mac and cheese, and jelapano poppers. Food was delicious. Really incredible atmosphere.

I ordered a pressed burger tonight at 11:25PM (knowing full well the kitchen closed in 5 minutes)... and taking a bite just now-- this is legitimately the best, most affordable burger. Station 2 is for the locals but it's also for the people who just want a SOLID burger. Do not sleep on station 2. Their pressed burgers are affordable and filling. Their gourmet burgers are second to none. Better than any competitor in the area. Plus the staff are always so so nice. Makes "coming back" feel like "coming home".

Being honest this place is absolutely terrible. The tables and entire place are covered in grime. The waitresses are too busy with what appears to be socialization/dating on the clock (to me) to care for their tables and it took over 45 mins to get food on table one time. Other times they were just always on their phone somewhere or talking to people instead of providing attentive service. The food is BAD nasty and mediocre, the kitchen, prep table, utensils, anything the food touches likely needs cleaning based on the taste. Trivia is nice and so is the flight special, other than that SKIP THIS DIVE

Station 2 is a gem of a place with great cheap food that I would be glad to be a regular at... if it were located somewhere else. Came here yesterday for trivia with a few friends and was reminded of why I don't come to shockoe bottom more: pretty sketchy place. Obviously a bunch of other people feel comfortable enough here but as someone who used to work in security, I noticed a lot of red flags in the blocks surrounding this place. Be vigilant. As for Station 2 itself, I was very impressed. The interior is charming, the seating was comfortable and not cramped, the service was exemplary, and the trivia was excellent too. The menu prices are extremely affordable by modern standards, with some appetizers of decent size under $10. I opted for the American nachos (pictured) and they were delicious, not bad for $8! The craft beer selection is great, and while I opted for a Hardywood Gingerbread Stout on this occasion, their alcohol milkshakes looked amazing. Might try one in the future if I venture this way again. All things considered, I want to come back here, but safety is something I take seriously, so I would not risk the safety of family or dates bringing them here personally. Your mileage may vary, though your dollar will go far here! Overall: 4.0 stars ----- Pros: - Outstanding service from our server, memorably pleasant. - Great interior design, former firehouse. - Excellent food at reasonable prices. - Good draft beer selection. Cons: - The area this is in is worrisome, I recommend parking as close to station 2 as possible. - Speaking of parking, it can be tough to find some here depending on time and day of the week. I was lucky and found some on the street a block away. If you have to park more than three blocks away or so, maybe visit another day.

I can't get enough of these burgers. All the food I've had here was a hit. Service is great. The bartender Josh is super nice! They constantly have different beers and burger specials. Lots of vegan options.

The food here is absolutely delicious! Their version of the poutine fries really knocked it out of the park. My boyfriend really liked the grilled cheese burger and I adored the beer cheese burger. I liked being able to get a salad without a large upcharge too. They have so many ciders and beers to choose from. The waiter was very quick to greet us and helped put together a great flight of beers for my boyfriend. He regularly checked on us and made sure we were happy with everything. The adult milkshakes... Omg! So delicious! You almost can't even tell they're alcoholic. This is a little hole in the wall joint that's hard to find unless you know where to look for it. There is a covered seating area outside though I don't think it was available to sit there when we went. It is very loud in here, I think partially due to the building itself. If you don't care about having conversations while you eat and just want good food that's not super expensive, definitely check this place out! We definitely haven't regretted coming.

Had a pretty good burger at Station 2. It's an old fire station converted to bar/restaurant. Service was good, family enjoyed their meals. As an ex-firefighter, had to try it out. A good selection of area beers that were wonderful.

Came here for their trivia night with some friends. I had been wanting to try this spot for a very long time. I like their aesthetic and what they're going for, but my biggest complaint is it was LOUD. I could hardly hear myself think here. This is no one's fault, and it might be better on a less busy night without someone announcing things on a microphone, but we were all screaming at each other adding to the cacophony of screeching diners. I ordered the grilled cheese burger. I loved the concept, but something was off about the meat. I couldn't place it, but it didn't taste right. I was ok when I got home and so were my friends who got burgers too. The sweet potato tots were fine. I liked having a non-fry option! I like how creative they are with their burgers here. My friend got the Elvis burger (the one with peanut butter) and I have to admit, that was a new combination for me! I'm interested in coming back at a less busy time to try other things on the menu because this spot was cool.

We moved to a table where it took us over 10 min to get our drink order in. Drinks did not come right out, took another 10 min to get a sweet tea. It was 2pm and they were not slammed busy during this time. Will prob take our business elsewhere next time. Did not feel welcomed by any means. This was not our first time here. It's a very popular restaurant, so today, when we entered, while we were greeted right away, there was a 30 minute wait. The time actually went by relatively fast, and by the time we were seated, large cups of ice water were already there at our table, as well as a carafe to refill them. There's no physical menus, instead you scan a QR code which brings you to their menu. They have lots of drink options, including several specialty cocktails, beers, and ciders. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive, and the food came out relatively quickly. For my drink, I ordered a local cider from a Virginia ciderie, as well as the It's A Wrap, which has cheddar, ranch, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and your choice of protein (I got tofu). I also got a side of the Mac and cheese, which I could tell was made in house. Super creamy and flavorful with a hint of spice. My wrap was also insanely good! I'm impressed by the amount of vegetarian options here. Any burger can be made both gluten free or vegan, and the choices of protein make it more accessible for everyone who comes in. I'm really happy we were recommended this place!

Noise level can be challenging so we try to go in the early side when possible. Went for our anniversary in during Richmond restaurant week in October (they gave us a complimentary glass of bubbly to celebrate) and again with the kids in December. They always have amazing cocktails. Their mixologist is on their game with so many choices! For our anniversary, we got Cloud Boat and Apartment in the City, and we loved them both. Both were completely as described, light and ez in the palate which is a skill for whiskey. For apps we got the PEI mussels and the smoked fish dip. Again both were delicious. I particularly love my fish dip - the groom focaccia was done beautifully in the dill was a nice compliment to the flavor. For entrées, we had the catfish sandwich and the Arctic char. The catfish sandwich was good, but nowhere near the quality of the Arctic char, which was savory and delicious and elevated by the brown butter and golden raisins. Since it was restaurant week the dessert was included in the price so we got the apple cranberry fry pie And the chocolate ganache bar. Both were a nice way to end the meal. Tasty but not mind blowing. With the kids we ordered Gnac attack, Proper Dose, American Love Call, and Bebot. Again they were all so good but for me the Proper Dose and Gnac attack were the best. For apps we got the fish dip and one of the specials and loved them both. Entrees were the Spanish mackerel, the arctic char and a special that was a gumbo and rice. We ate everything and had no room for dessert. Can't wait to go back.

The service was a little too leisurely for my temperament, and the tab did arrive at the table on one piece of paper when we had clearly requested that there be a separate tab for each couple, but those would be my only complaints. We all had cocktails, one from their specialty list and three that were standard issue. All were delicious and had an appropriate alcohol content for cocktails. The restaurant week menu provided a good variety of choices. Everything we had was really delicious. Portions were generous, so I could not eat more than about half of each course and not get overly full, but I assume they are sized for all but the hungriest diner. The venue's sound level was pretty high. I could have left my hearing aids at home so I wouldn't hear as much of the background noise. Noisy restaurants are pretty standard, I guess. We will definitely be returning to Alewife. It will probably take the place of Grisette in the rotation, which has been dropped because of institution of a fee for reservations canceled less than 24 hours in advance. (I don't think it should be treated as a privilege to dine somewhere when you have so many equivalent choices, but I guess they want to decrease the number of people who try to make them their dining choice. Objective accomplished.) The Hemingway quote at the bottom of the tab was a little weird. Not a Hemingway fan, but I guess it was an interesting thing to do. If you have read other reviews of mine, you may be aware that basically non-alcoholic cocktails that should have alcohol in them are reason enough for me to never return to a restaurant.

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. It had the perfect amount of heat: enough to bring some spice without overpowering the flavor. On the side, I ordered the green beans after our bartender/server highly recommended them. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. My partner chose the mac and cheese, which was the superior side (although both were excellent). The service was friendly, attentive, and genuine throughout the evening. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances. One of my favorite parts of the evening was chatting with another guest at the bar. He and his wife shared several entrées with their young son, and they couldn't stop raving about the short ribs--which their son happily claimed for himself by the end of the meal! They also highly recommended the salmon, so we've already got ideas for our next visit. The only real downside has nothing to do with the restaurant itself: parking in Scott's Addition can be a challenge. I'd recommend allowing yourself some extra time to find a spot or, even better, taking a rideshare so you can start enjoying your evening right away. Lunch. Top shelf Happy Hour Drinks; amazing appetizers and a patio to die for! Count me in!…read more I've checked out Burton's once before and had a few drinks. They of course didn't let me down but I was so surprised on how great the food was. The Bang Bang broccoli was hands down my favorite. So tangy and sweet with this crazy crunch. The garlic butter shrimp were amazing and cooked to perfection. I also had the most wonderful garlic bread slices. Literally could have eaten an entire basket with or without the guac. Burton's has such an amazing selection of alcohol. They don't even have rail alcohol just top tier offerings. I enjoyed an espresso martini made with tequila which was absolutely perfect. I also had a desert flower made with mezcal, elderflower and prickly pear. Listen I can't wait for another. Huge shout out to Yelp for the amazing event and our server Peggah who was absolutely the cutest. Great customer service; knowledgeable; made suggestions and was super personable. Will definitely be requesting her when I return.

Millie's was highly recommended by our Richmond friends and we were all long time foodies. We…read moreexpected Fathers' Day to be busy and it was but staff was managing the crowd well with spacious outside seating and inside where the character of the restaurant came through. We sat inside and the feeling was great with lots of laughter and great music. Each table had an old style diner record player but we never got the chance to play tunes. The breakfast menu was expansive with lots of crab, salmon, shrimp and Italian sausage and ham added proteins. The avocado BLT was a fresh and flavorful choice for one of our table mates and another cleaned his plate with the enchilada eggs. There were so many great choices and combinations I was stumped. I fell back to the basics and went with poached, creamy grits and unbelievable thin sliced country ham. The kitchen seems small but they were powerful in managing the orders quickly. Wait service was attentive and patient. Love, love, love Millie's and the next time we are in town, driving through or nearby we are keeping Millie's on the list of great food, good prices and quick service.

This is a neighborhood diner with a cool dive bar feel and an interesting brunch menu…read more I completely forgot to take photos of the food, but I ordered the crabmeat breakfast burrito. It was a huge portion, and I couldn't finish it. The potatoes were top tier. I'll definitely be ordering those again. The place is tiny, and I can understand why there's usually a line out the door on weekends. One thing I wasn't expecting was the size of the drink bar. It was massive, and even at 10:00 on a Friday morning, that bartender was BUSY! The host was a gem. He was friendly, got us settled with water right away, and was genuinely welcoming. Our server took a little while to make it over to us, and we had to flag her down for coffee and water refills, but she was pleasant when she came by. Overall, this is a solid brunch spot. I'm already planning to come back this week to try something different, and next time I'll actually remember to take photos. I can also see myself bringing friends here on visits to town.

My entree was honey brussel sprouts, mac n cheese, blackened salmon. the salmon and brussel sprouts were very flavorful and each bite was better than the last. the mac n cheese though..! It was disappointing, tasted like noodles with cheese poured on top. it didn't match the salmon, it had no taste, needed salt & pepper or something to help it taste like something. My iced tea was really good too. so the mac was the only thing that wasn't up to par. Finally dessert was a special on the board, caramel apple bread pudding. we shared one, it was a huge shareable piece that was warm and melted in my mouth very good. I will absolutely go back here and try something new next time to see what else they have.

We arrived around 5:00 or 6:00 in the evening. We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday (surprise, surprise), but there were open seats on the patio and at the bar. We chose the patio, and while patio chairs left something to be desired (some bolts need to be tightened or the chairs replaced, one), it was a pleasant night. Our server came out promptly. She was prepared, knew the specials, and was able to answer any questions we had. We ordered the pimento cheese and crostini for an appetizer. For dinner I ordered the signature burger with the sauteed broccolini as a side, and my partner chose the chicken pot pie. The chicken pot pie came out hot and smelled incredible. The signature Burger was medium, exactly as I ordered it. It was Juicy, tender, and tasted fantastic with its classic potato bun. The desserts sounded fantastic, especially the "fudgy tiramisu" as our server described it, but we were too full to try them. The GM came by our table to personally introduce themselves and ensure that our experience was excellent. I always respect that level of service and integrity. I feel remiss that I neglected to mention the patio chairs. Swing and a miss. The traffic noise on the patio can be somewhat grating, and we were approached by a panhandler/down on their luck individual as we were wrapping up the check. The Savory Grain had kind staff, wondrous food, a delicious sour ale, and even a clean restroom. I absolutely recommend it and plan to return again.
