Our recent purchase with Lumber Liquidators has left us with a floor we like very much but feeling much less satisfied with the experience. We needed to replace the second floor carpeting with something that would be more durable in a high traffic area and easier to clean and maintain. We were directed to vinyl plank flooring - an excellent recommendation. Our problem was not with the store or the product. The problem we experienced was with the installation. The initial estimate of one day turned into three days and overcharges on labor and materials. The installing team started late and needed a second day to complete. On the second day we were asked to sign off but noted several problems that needed to be corrected including a missing piece under the heating duct along the wall, a poorly cut piece at the edge of the stairs that needed to be replaced, and exposed nails on the stair threshold. This required a third visit and opening an unused box of vinyl planking that otherwise could have been returned for a full refund. We were initially quoted seven replacement thresholds but only needed three. This required a follow up confirmation visit by the installing company in order to provide a refund on the overcharges. On a customer satisfaction scale of one to ten, the vinyl plank flooring gets a "10", however, the overall experience rates no better than "4-5". read more

I am deeply disappointed with the lack of responsibility shown by Lumber Liquidators of Woburn, MA for the poor workmanship demonstrated by the flooring subcontractor, B.M. Flooring Company, 93 Cameron Road, Norwood, MA, 02062. They were contracted to install cork flooring in two rooms on the 2nd floor of our house. The work was done incorrectly and the cork tiles peeled off the subfloor after three days. Lumber Liquidators say it provides an installation and workmanship warranty, but instead it blamed us for high humidity levels. The subcontractor altered photographs to say the relative humidity was 78 percent, when in fact it never went above 35 percent. They refuse to refund the $3,543.00 that was spent on labor and materials. I am shocked by how irresponsible they are. They falsely blame the homeowner for their incompetence. read more

Horrible experience using LL. They installed a floor in my basement, including leveling the site with concrete. Within two days, it was clear they had not leveled the floor appropriately and the floor began to expand and buckle. They fixed it, but in about 2 weeks the same issue came back. At that point they began to hide behind their product warrant and installer warranty and refused to fix the floor. They dragged me on for four months with trying to provide a resolution, but ultimately told me they could not cover anything. Incredibly poor customer experience - slow response time. I had a wonderful experience working with James at the Woburn store. He was very helpful and patient with me since I changed my mind a few times on which type of floor I wanted and offered to look into different ways to make the flooring more affordable. My floors were installed my John and Jason from BM flooring shortly after I made my final decision. These men worked non-stop for two days, they even stayed late the second day to get my floors completed before the weekend. They also vacuumed at the end of each day they were here. They were very careful and precise. My floors look gorgeous. I would definitely work with these guys again! read more

If I could give them zero stars I would. We went in looking for a simple engineered hardwood. The salesman diverted us from that (I don't know why, we were going to purchase something from them!) and showed us bamboo flooring they had on clearance, saying it was "much sturdier" flooring. Needless to say, the flooring is terrible, terrible quality and was a nightmare to install because it was supposed to be glue down. Glue everywhere, trowel clip wouldn't stay on. And not sturdy at all...it's already chipping and scratched everywhere! Of course it was "final sale" and not returnable...they were obviously just trying to unload this crappy flooring and didn't care who they sold it to...avoid this place at all costs!!! read more

I was very pleased with my floor and the service new management provided. I've used this store 3 times as I've renovated different portions of my house. One of the first compliments I get on my renovations is how great the floors look. I had an extra box of wood and a couple rolls of pad and they allowed me to return them even though I was slightly over the 30 day return policy. I wouldn't read too deep into the reviews - new management (James) fully understands what is meant by customer service - I highly recommend. read more

They are terrible. I bought flooring there and they shorted me by 50 boards. The ones that i did receive: half we warped, split, or had huge nots. I second, third and forth many of the comments made here. While LL flooring seemed like a good price, the extras such as stairs and risers have been a bloody fortune. Related, it's been impossible to get orders accurate. Has required multiple trips and calls and still trying to get things right. It's been such a cluster I cannot even remember all the missteps along the way. The floors aren't even installed yet -- hoping we won't have quality issues -- and it's been nothing but a hassle for months. UPDATE: The floors are in. They admittedly look great. LL did take back surplus with some pressing on the issue. So, in fairness, have increased the rating. SECOND UPDATE: LL did help us out with returning surplus and reordering after newly installed furnace, failed, overflowed and damaged installation. It was a trying project overall so appreciated the cooperation in the end (thanks, Will!) Am upping my rating accordingly. read more

Stay far, far away. Bad wood is one thing, but the terrible terrible service made a bad situation worse. They held up my addition project 2 months, and broken promise after broken promise, I had to go elsewhere. They claim to sell 1st quality hardwood. They may, but the stuff they sent me was junk. They admitted it was junk. I had to beg them to exchange it, make it right, etc. They did not want to take it back. Service was rude. They kept saying they would call me, never did. I made 5 trips to their store before the situation was finally resolved, but I was out my time, and the project was delayed. They finally took it back, but only after dozens of phone calls and several emails. AND I had to pick up and deliver it my self. The wood delivery was delayed 2x, and when it arrived it was warped and water damaged. Lumber Liquidators admitted the wood was bad, just did not want to do anything about it. When I returned it, they guaranteed they would order a new batch, I waited several more weeks, and they delivered the same warped batch as I returned!!! Warped left, right, up and down. could not stay nailed down. tounges could not go into grooves. Sat in the room for a week. pre-finished, looks like it got wet. Nightmare. After we finished laying down the wood in the living room we realized that we were about 3 planks short. Most other retailers would make you buy a whole other box. The products deserved a 3 stars. Bellawood floors are decent, not perfect. They are fair for the price. The service (lack thereof), the attitude (they must be doing me a huge favor for being opened and for taking my money), and the demeanor of supposed manager deserved a negative 5 star. I have never felt worse for spending thousands of dollars on anything. He made the whole buying experience from LL a total disaster. Went there on to pick up my floors after being told they have arrived and are ready for pick up. During pickup, I noticed the boxes were damaged. Apparently, wanting to open the boxes to check the goods were deemed a hassle to them. They reluctantly opened the boxes for me to examined to make sure there were no damages to the flooring inside. Upon examination, there were pieces that were chipped, damaged. The supposed to be manager person played it down by saying they are fine, those damages are okay, you won't see them and they will not be any problem during installation. (That is to be seen - have not installed them yet) I may not buy from them every month, but who does when it comes to buying flooring? One would think you would have a right to examine the goods without getting an attitude from the manager and the staff when your purchase was in the thousands, not 10-20 bucks. Also bought a stair nose and the finishes on the stair nose does not match the rest of the flooring. This was an issue at the time of placing the order and the sale rep promised he would order new stairnose with the same finishes to make sure they match. After being given a stairnose that was way off in terms of quality and finishes, I asked the manager to see another piece, the dude pouted and gave me an attitude. It was as if he was blaming me for being his customer and paying his salary. I am sorry you were working weekend, but dude, I worked 70 hours week so I can afford these new floors and I am giving you my business, the least you could have done was to not act like a jerk while I was still at the store. I was't expecting a freaking lovefest or a smile, but try not to scowl and not give your paying customer an attitude when your products were not matching and were of poor quality. Sadly, I have myself to blame, I should have read the reviews of the other yelpers before I set foot in this store and before I gave them my hard earned money for their average floors. This review applies to the Wouburn MA location, but also LL senior corporate management, who also refused to deliver on promises. Lies. Rudeness. Lies. Damaged wood. Lies. No apologies. Lies. I ordered "First Quality" wood, and what I got was damaged. 6 wasted trips, 1 month behind schedule, thousands spent, no one seemed to earn my continued business by making it right. First of the month: Ordered wood, 10% down payment. Told it would be about a week, they would put a rush on it and call us. Lie #1. 11th: I called to see what the status was, they were very rude. Said it was not there yet, and they would call us. Lie. Never did. 12th to 16th, I called multiple times. Not until the 16th that I was told it was ready and sorted. 17th: Picked up wood. Paid balance in full. I could see the boxes sagged, LL assured me it was just the boxes. Lie. Forklift loaded it onto my trailer. When I got home and unloaded it, I noticed 2 of the boxes were severely damaged by the forklift. The forks ripped the boxes, and the wood was visibly damaged. The rest of the wood I stacked in the room to be installed. I stacked them upside down, in an attempt to un-sag the boxes. At 4:10, I called the store, and was told they were closed. Lie. (Why pick up the phone?) I began to state my problem and was cut off, told there were too many people in the store and they could not help me. Told to call back the next day. At 4:30, I called again. A comment was made to the effect of, "Some people don't know what it means to wait." Reluctantly, they placed the order for 2 more boxes, and said they should be in on the 22nd. 21st: Tried installing wood. The wood was still bent, like a bunch of leaf springs. It would not stay locked together due to the arcing. Called LL HQ for advice, they said call the store I bought it from. Called the store, they said to call LLHQ, and were upset when told that I was directed to call them. After much delay, they agreed to order 8 more boxes. They said my initial two boxes would be in the next day, the 22nd. 22nd: At 11am, I called to confirm 2 boxes were in. Exasperated, they said the truck would not be unloaded till around 3, and they had no idea what was in it. They said the driver was not careful, and everything had fallen over in the truck, and one guy called in sick, so they were having a rough day. (Rough day? Try being 3 weeks behind schedule!!!) 1pm: I sent an email to LLHQ, asking for help. 3pm - 3:45pm: I called repeatedly. Phone would ring once or twice, and I would be sent to voice mail. 23rd: At 10:30, Called and spoke to Norm. He said the 2 that came in were also sagging, and they were trying to un-sag them. He mentioned the email, and said he had no idea what they could have done to be more helpful. He also had taken a picture of the 2 bundles, and emailed to his mgr. 10:45: Mark (Manager) called, (the 1st time anyone from LL actually called me!!!) He said he was waiting to speak with his VP of Operations on the issue. He said it was not the only instance, as the people in Virginia were not shipping them properly. He said they were arriving in VA in good shape. He said once the VP arrives in the store, he will absolutely, positively give me a call later today. Lie. 4:45: VP never called. Called Norm, he said the VP will be in tomorrow, Saturday, 4/24, and will surely, definitely call me then. Lie. 24th. VP never called, after 2 days of promises. 25th. Spoke to Russ. He said a new order should be here Wed (which in LL code means I wont be able to pick it up till Friday) and it should be OK. I said I wanted to return everything, and call the deal off. He said it would need to be approved by Manager Mark, who is not in. Russ said he was too busy to get into it now, but would call me later today. 26th 1055 am. Called Russ who said to bring everything back, and my card would be credited. 230 pm. Dropped off wood. Kid on the loading dock apologized left and right, Russ barely spoke. Bob walked by without saying anything, carrying McDonalds lunch. After unloading wood, Russ disappeared without saying anything. After several minutes of cooling my heels, I went looking for him. He was face deep in McDonalds. I had to ask again to have my card credited. No thank you, no apology, no nothing. You have been warned! read more

All experiences with this company have been horrible. We bought flooring from these guys 3 years ago. And we used their "preferred" installer. After 6 months the flooring started to separate at the seams.It took 6 more months of the seller saying it was an installer issue and the installer saying the product was defective before the installer came back and did quick fix. And 6 months later it is doing it again. And now I can't even get a call back. Don't use their installers because that gives them the chance to string you along until the installation is out of warranty. And clearly they are buying up and reselling defective or poor quality product because everything they promised has gone wrong. Buyer beware. Use a reputable company. read more

James has accommodated me twice now with product returns because i believe he genuinely cares more about overall customer satisfaction as opposed to taking peoples money. When i first purchased the flooring for my home and later realized that it was not the intended wood, James seamlessly facilitated an exchange despite the products being marked as final sale. And most recently has agreed to accept the return of 4 boxes of unused material well past the return policy. The quality and beauty of the wood goes without saying and i have received many compliments from friends and family. Worst experience ever. Complete miscommunication throughout the entire process. We never received a call back from anyone. We kept getting the excuse of the person you spoke to is on vacation, I don't know anything about that. They charged me 800 more on my credit card than they quoted me and sent me an invoice for. The install company was so rude on day of install, the lady that called me to complain about the painter on site hung up on me. I would stay far away and hire a local flooring contractor. Great prices and product, however buyer beware. In my opinion they lack appropriate education/instruction at the point of purchase for their exotic hardwoods that will significantly darken with sunlight. I put an area rug down a couple of weeks after installation which i shouldnt have. Now i have to live with a room that looks like it was crop circled by an alien. In addition, when I was looking for a guarantee that the wood would even out, check out this mail from the CEO and founder. ....... I regret ever setting foot in this place. I had gone in asking for unfinished floor and told the salesperson I wanted the hardest wood I could afford. I told the salesperson that I have four kids, two cats, and maybe a dog someday and that I was looking for something as durable as possible. The salesperson told me that what I should not get unfinished flooring, that what I should get is pre-finished bamboo Bellawood. He told me that if I get unfinished flooring and have it finished that the polyurethane will be easily scratched. He went as far as saying something like, "I'll sell you whatever you want, but if you want something durable, this is what you need". He convinced me. The best looking color in my price range and in stock was a dark brown which was a lot darker than I had envisioned or wanted but I purchased it. Since it was installed I've been having nothing but problems with the floor. It has not been durable at all. Within three weeks of installation it had 10+ chips in the finish, and scratches also. The floor is extremely high maintenance, cheap, and the opposite of durable. I contacted corporate but they will not help me, they say because I've used a steam vacuum on the floor. LL says you are not supposed to use any water to clean it. Impossible. The floor constantly looks dirty because of the dark color and high traffic in my house. That would have been a good thing for he salesperson to tell me before purchasing. The steam vacuum I use leaves very minimal water on the floor also. After contacting corporate I was told that there are specific care instructions that can void your warranty if you don't follow, but I was never told where to find these instructions. The store does not provide the customer with them or even tell the customer they exist. Shady shady shady. I've since read numerous consumer reviews, one of which from a former LL branch manager stating how shady the company is. I wasted thousands on flooring that is extremely CHEAP, and completely wrong for my lifestyle. Oh, and when I tried to contact Bellawood directly to see if they would help, guess what I found out? Lumber Liquidators OWNS Bellawood. No wonder why the shady salesguy told me to buy their cheap wood. THANKS! Don't waste your money on this rotten company!!! read more

Lumber Liquidators (LL) gets my lowest grade, and I would give negative if I could, because they treated me with disrespect. As fellow Yelpers know, we can be a generous lot, even if the product is sub-par, as long as service (ie. whether they treat people like human beings) is acceptable. In this case, everything was a disaster. The flooring I ordered was delayed. When I kept calling on the status, the shipping guy cursed me in front of my contractor - who reported what happened. And the actual flooring that eventually came was visibly warped. I don't mean a little - I have photos if you want to see how bad it is. The contractor installed it anyway, because he was under time pressure (this was his mistake). But in retrospect, if he didn't install it, I confirmed it would have taken more weeks for a followup shipment, and there would be no guarantee that product is any better. The entire renovation would have been halted. The resulting floor has a trampoline-like bounce because of the bowing of wood. OK, so how does LL deal with a problem? They hired an "independent inspector" who blamed the bowing on the installer. He REFUSED to examine the box and a half of UNUSED leftover flooring, including a full box that hadn't been opened yet. I offered to open it in front of him. But he could see the other pieces that were already out and it was clear they were seriously warped. Since his "boss" paid him to blame everything on someone else, he did everything he could to avoid the truth. So, LL took that report, and threw it in my face and said their product is perfect. They refused to give me a refund even for the unused portion. In conclusion, I don't know about other flooring, all I know is that if you have a problem with LL, you're history. So, calculate that into the discount prices they advertise. read more

Wow - after reading the horrible reviews it does not surprise me that I am having a hard time with the Woburn store. Basically, I ordered a butcher block counter top online, and communicated that I wanted delivery - both online as well as with someone there on the phone. After calling back to confirm a delivery date, they told me that it has already been picked up and signed for?!!! When asked by who - they only relayed that it's a signature that they cannot quite make out exactly. So it's been stolen by someone - and they have basically blamed me saying it's next to impossible for someone else to pick this up without the order form etc. - insinuating I am lying, or someone I know has picked it up?! So basically we are left with a payment of $500 something and no counter top. We have been directed to customer care at this point, but I am not too hopeful after reading some of these comments that this will be resolved easily. If I could, I would rate Lumber Liquidators a "0". Some things you should consider before purchasing on price that I learned. 1. Expect a 30% or higher waste factor (they will tell you 10%, but that isn't true) 2. Yes you will save money by purchasing from them, but once you factor in the additional waste, you will not. If you add in the hassle when they don't take back the horrible stock - it isn't worth the time. 3. Customer Service - to put it simply, they should save the money and not pay the salary of their employees. I was told that the stock "was not found to be of substandard grades". You decide - I had to purchase 20 extra bundles of wood to cover 700 square feet. Among the bad was the following - a. Wood that was cut incorrectly b. Worm holes - and lots of them in several pieces (by the way this is normal according to their CS department) c. Color variations - not little ones, but significant. Did you know that red oak could actually be black? I didn't until now. So many more to list, but I don't want to bore you. My suggestion, Home Depot sells the same wood and they are willing to back their product. My next purchase of 700 square feet for my downstairs is being purchased there. BUYER BEWARE. We selected wood from Lumber Liquidators and were told to go with their guaranteed installers, JG Floor Installers. The installation was initially okay, but the wood planks almost immediately contracted and left huge crevices in the flooring. A few others started creaking and moving. We called the installer and were told repeatedly to wait until closer to summer because the wood was going to expand and that they left the crevices on purpose so that the wood wouldn't buckle. Summer came and the flooring crevices are still here and getting wider. We called and emailed JG floor installers who initially said "I told you that you should have chosen a narrower plank." This was a shameless lie because we never consulted with them about the flooring - in fact, we had chosen it well before the installer came into the picture. When we told them this, he told us that he was going to be traveling over the next month or so, but would be in touch about an appointment to come check the floor. After more waiting and several emails to his company, we contacted Lumber Liquidators and were told that they couldn't do anything because the warranty had expired. The only thing they offered was to ASK JG Floor Installers to come look at the flooring. They kept putting us on hold to reach out to them and would come back to the line indicating that they had left a voicemail. This happened at least 5 or 6 times. It is unfathomable that their contractors (JG Floor Installers) would purposefully make us wait until the warranty expired and even more heinous that Lumber Liquidators would allow the contractors (their own agents, under law) to mislead their customers like this and get away with it. We were trying to save money when we went with them, but will end up paying much much more. SAVE YOUR MONEY, YOUR TIME AND YOUR SANITY AND CHOOSE A MORE REPUTABLE AND ATTENTIVE COMPANY. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had to go through. I had just purchased a house and wanted to do hardwood throughout the house. When the installers started they had to stop because all the wood was uneven. When I called customer service she tried to tell me it was a 1 and a million chance that happened to me. They refused to take off any money for the inconvenience and after battling over the phone they took off $100 after I had spent $14,000. They then had to ship new wood to my house which took 2 weeks, mind you I'm living with a friend and my daughter has now been living in a hotel. The floor installers they recommended we're even worse. They would not return my call when the wood was ready and did not show up on the day they were supposed to and are now on vacation for a week. It has been almost a month and a half since I bought the house and the whole house is without flooring. I will never recommend lumber liquidators and all my clients after hearing my story will never either. Poor customer service and no willingness to help. I will only have bad things to say about this company from now on. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM LUMBER LIQUIDATORS IN WOBURN! These guys are scammers and will tell you anything you want to hear in order to get the sell. I was in looking at some flooring, I liked it, but I wasn't ready for it as my project was not far enough along. They said I could buy it, keep it there as long as I wanted and that I could return any of the leftover WHENEVER I WANTED so long as it was still inside the box. What happens? I take their word for it, buy what I need about 6 weeks before I had any place to keep it and get a call 3.5 weeks after my order is made telling me that I have to come get it or it goes back to wherever it came from. My contractor literally had to go get it and keep it in his garage until we were ready for it. THEN, after completion, I had 6 boxes leftover of BRAND NEW UNOPENED flooring and they informed me that they have a 30 day return policy. Convenient that they wait until now to tell me that. Their answer "it says it right on the receipt". I am still working with Customer Care to get things resolved and still have over $500 of flooring that I cannot return.
