I purchased used Kia carnival from lumberton Kia. The salesman I bought the car from is no longer with the company. The whole experience has been very bad. The car is a 2024 Carnuval that had 400 miles on it. It had been detailed so badly you couldn't hardly see out of the window. They took it back to be retailed and there was little improvement. The sale's transaction took 4 hours. The salesman said he would come and get the car and have it detailed but I was done by then. When I pulled out of the lot the Sirius radio was supposed to be activate. It was not. I was promised another free activMarion but since the salesman I had is no longer there and after speaking to 4 different people they'll not honor that either. My best advice is my carnival is a great vehicle but don't EVER deal with Lumberton Kia. read more

After finding out from another dealership, if you purchase a extended warranty or a maintenance plan and the vehicle is totaled or sold before the agreement expires, you may be entitled to refund of the remaining balance. On February 1, 2024 I called and spoke to the Finance Manager (Reggie Wells). He told me that I had to contact the bank that financed the vehicle for the refund. After calling the Warranty Company and not the bank, they told me that the Finance Manager where I purchased the car is the person I need to contact. So after many calls of leaving messages he finally responded. He then gave a bogus email ( aol.com and not a kiaofluberton.com) and wanted forms to be signed. I have asked for a week now for this form and no response. Now he doesn't answer my messages. His quick response is for me to drive 2 hours to sign the form that he could just email me. This is 2024, not 1980's. And don't get me started with the maintenance. Two month waiting period for a oil change. Went here because online it said they had the car I was looking in in stock. We walked the lot checking it out and didn't see the type of car anywhere. So we decided to go inside and speak to someone as no one was outside at all. The lady at the front desk was extremely nice and courteous. She stopped a sales person on his way by to have him help us. Immediately I could tell he wasn't interested in trying to help us since we were two men clearly together. We asked about the car we were searching for and he said oh no that online is for every dealership that they owned all the way from Florida and that car was probably at another one . If I could give negative stars, I would. My sister, local school district staff, purchased a used 2017 Kia Sportage with an extended warranty. 3 months and less than 5k miles, the engine frozen. Brought it back to the dealer for repair and the REFUSED to repair it. Lumberton Kia acknowledged they forgot to do the firmware update before letting her drive off the lot that caused the engine to fail. In need of a vehicle I found one for $23,000 on the North Carolina Lumberton Kia website I decided to buy. Starting at 10:00am this morning I called, and texted continuously attempting to make the purchase. At 4:00pm I finally was able to get ahold of their India Script office via text, but it Didn't fix their communication problem. I was finally able to get ahold of a salesman named Alijawun at ext #3003 informing him of the vehicle I wanted to buy, and that I needed the exact amount required for the purchase in order to contact my bank to approve the transfer of funds. After speaking with him I never heard from him again. I can't believe that out of all of the employees working at the Kia Lumberton office not one of them called me back after knowing I was ready to buy a vehicle in full, and just needed the info/total to process. To say I'm disgusted, and dissatisfied is a understatement by far. A call, text, or email following up setting up a time to complete the purchase takes mere seconds. Awful. I went in in August of 2016 to get a car. I told them what I wanted, what my budget was, and about my trade in. They bring out a car, which is low to the ground, I tell them with my back and hip problems, I cannot keep getting in and out of the car without either a struggle, or without help. I found out th first time rode as a passenger, the seat does not go back, they have refused to fix it. They told me that if I make my payments on time, that in the spring, I can put what I had put into the car onto something else. I should have known better. We go to sign the paperwork, and the monthly payment is almost 100 more than I was comfortable with. He said it would go down when I traded in the car. Come spring, I was told that I had not had my car long enough to trade in. This was after I had waited three HOURS for them to get to me. They told me to wait three years to try again. I was livid. They made their sale, they did not care a bit about me after the dotted line was signed. I'm looking for a new vehicle, so my husband and I start pulling up dealerships within a 2 hour radius. We found the perfect vehicle at a great price at this dealership. We call ahead, make plans to make the hour and a half long drive to go see the vehicle and hear more about it. We arrive to absolute chaos. I walk in and immediately and tell them I called and spoke with Alexis, and we are here to see the vehicle. Then 2 guys come looking rushed "what are you here to see, and who" and I say again, Alexis. So they go and get her, and she comes out and says, "This is the Salesmen that'll be helping you." Well I'm getting a vibe... and not a good one. They go to get the vehicle and as we are the rock out another salesman says, " no don't walk out yet we're going to give y'all the red carpet treatment." So then we were confused when we were allowed to walk out to see the vehicle that they had finally brought up that we wanted to look at. During the test drive our salesman was very condescending he knew nothing about the vehicle that we were coming to look at, nothing about its history nothing about it features could not help me with any questions, but I did my research so I knew the features and what I wanted it's just nice to have somebody that appears educated trying to sell you a vehicle. So then we get back and I asked him do you have anything else comparable he's all like, "no." I mean that was fine, but then he wants to go into his office and pop numbers and it's good you wanna know exactly what your pain and that is when things went absolutely downhill. So I looked at the salesman and I said I really appreciate you but this process has become uncomfortable I need to hit the pause button and walk away and think about the situation. So I walk out. One person is calling us when we're not even a mile down the road with, "what can we do the change your mind to sell you the vehicle today? I kept trying to explain that we were looking and not committing, and this was too rushed and pressured, and then he begins bullying me about "you said maybe in the questionnaire that you would buy the vehicle, if you would've put no I wouldn't have even sent numbers out to you." And with that, I told him it was a firm no for me. I wrote all of this to tell y'all, this isn't how the experience should be. We have gone to dealerships where they are kind and considerate, knowledgeable, friendly, and the atmosphere remains relaxed. I bought a used car from them 6500 cash. They told me it needed to have the turbo replaced and that was all. They agreed to fix it as part of the purchase. I had the car 2 weeks and now it is in a different shop needing 4grand in repairs. Cracked head, bad head gasket, scored cam shaft. I dont expect them to buy the car back or cover all the repairs but it would have been nice if they could have at least responded to a phone call or email, maybe offered a loaner while it was fixed, or to fix it at a reduced rate, something. I made an appt through an online Sales gimmick posted by Lumberton Kia. I was called on 2 separate occasions to verify my appt. I arrived at the dealer, with plenty of time for my appt and was met by a confused salesperson. I was never given a specific salesperson's name, and told to ask for the next available. I conveyed that. As I walked in, I had a few specific cars in mind, that I'd seen advertised on their site. This is when I learned, that most likely, anything I was interested in, was at another "Sister" owned lot. Fine. I have no issues and could wait a day or two, if need be. I have credit issues, because of Life. Nothing to be judged on, if I can meet credit-worthiness. I made this known prior to my visit, and upon speaking with the salesperson. Because of this, I had to be specific in picking out a car. So I did, and after running my credit, I'm told that the car was just sold earlier that day. So I inquire about a few other cars of that model on their website. I'm then told by the salesperson that all of the cars of that model had been sold that day or the day before and none were available. This left me with a handful of cars on their lot in my price range, or near the type car I was interested in. I was not interested in the cars they had in stock. Sorry. So I told the salesperson, I'd just drive over to Lumberton Honda and see for myself, what they had in stock. I was told that Lumberton Honda was rude and I wouldn't find anything I'd want, and not get the same quality of help. ****WRONG**** Once I arrived over at the Lumberton Honda lot, I specifically found one of the cars that I'd seen online and inquired about. I immediately text the salesperson inquiring and was told that the 2 dealerships do not do trades any longer and that I wouldn't get the pricing they could give me. At this point, I quit accepting texts/calls to the original salesperson and proceeded with a much better experience at Lumberton Honda. Lumberton Kia LIED! Not just once, but continued to lie. My wife was there to buy her first ever new car all on her own (my presence was just to make sure nothing shady happened). Once the test drive was done, integrity was out the window. The vehicle didn't have a sticker in the window, so of course, she asked the price. She was told "The price depends on the value of your trade." Strike one. Off to this bad start, I couldn't help but jump in: "No, that's not how that works. If she goes into Macy's to buy a shirt, the price isn't dependent on the shirt she wore into the store." He back-pedaled saying that he meant the total would include the trade value. Later, he would tell her: "The price is dependent on your credit." Once again, my anger is immediately evident. "NO. When she goes to Walmart to buy a blender, the price is the same whether she has a 400 credit score or an 800." He flashes a page from the printer indicating that the car costs $23K, then proceeds to ask her what the monthly payment should be, indicating that with nothing down, she should pay about $450 a month. I interrupt to show her that the car is $16K on their website. "Oh well, that's only if you finance through Kia whatever and other stuff in the disclaimer." Fair enough, but she has already prequalified through their lender, so a moot point. But lets get back to that payment. $450 a month for 72 months is $32K. $32K for a car that is on sale for $16K. Not a chance. Had she agreed to that BS, the finance guy would have gotten that to $500 a month. He could have sold a car, made a modest profit and a happy customer who would have brought in family members to buy 3 more cars over the summer. Instead, he tried to rip off one woman, lost her business, lost her family's business and angered someone enough to write this review. Most upset customers grumble and walk away. When someone writes a bad review, you've wronged them enough to get the to spend the energy to let others know. Take that into consideration when reading all of the low scoring reviews. I went to get an oil change, my door and my air checked this morning. Unfortunately my appointment was never wrote down but I was treated with such concern and professionalism. My warranty had expired and I ended up needing brakes and spent quite a bit of money but I knew it was coming up anyway. They fixed me up and after sitting there and watching the employee in charge of greeting and helping customers I was highly impressed. I dropped off my Kia on a Thursday and had to reach back out to them to get my car back that Monday. There were 5 pairs of shoes, jewelry, money, and all of my softball gear (i.e. bag, fielding glove, cleats, and softballs) missing when I got my car back. My console was also opened and scattered all over my passenger seat. I did not understand because the work that was done on my car was under the hood. After weeks of calling them for updates regarding the investigation, they said they could not do anything about it since it was none of the employees after "searching them and their cars." They also said, "The car may have been left unlocked by one of the workers, and Kia is not responsible for items left in the car." Weeks had gone by of me trying to reach out to them to get that answer, and I did not get an answer until I said I was going to file a police report. My car is not the type of car that someone would think to break into and go straight to the trunk for all of those items. The whole investigation was weird and how the dealership went about it, including ignoring my father's calls. The "in stock" part order email said it might take up to 2 weeks to ship - so I emailed them asking for an ETA and if they quickly assured me it would ship by 10/21. Fast forward to 10/28 and my order has not shipped and they haven't responded to any further. I asked them to cancel and will have to dispute the charge if they don't refund me. My husband dropped his sports car off for a simple tune up & to have the shifter fixed so he could sell his car, needless to say...5-6 MONTHS LATER, the car is still there & to the tune of $2,600 (original bill was around $1,000 I think), they have replaced the clutch, put a used transmission in, did the tune up (I assume) & who knows what else...It was not suppose to be that difficult. We had buyers lined up & due to their lack of work ethic, he has lost several because the car wasn't ready. They never call him back to give updates like they say they will (still haven't heard back from them this last time..been a week or more) they lied saying they FORGOT the car was in the yard to be fixed (that was their excuse for the first few months it was there), the GM won't return his calls. Keep in mind, this car has been kept under a shelter so the paint wouldn't fade in the hot sun, they had it in their lot & said they would cover it ...sure hope they have done that. Someone there, in management, did offer to take a couple hundred off the bill & detail the car....that was before they tacked on the used transmission. Well I do have pros and cons for sure. Pros- friendly service, non pushy salesmen, quick and straight forward deals, and very fair prices. The say lowest prices in 100 miles and I actually believe it. Cons- ran down facilities(no A/C and gross restrooms) and slow and sloppy systems for the transaction. I had signed my papers and agreed on a deal and as I was about to pull out of the parking lot in my new car he asked to come back in because there was a "mistake". The mistake happened to be a certain fee in the price was not included on the price I agreed on due to a system discrepancy. So he asked me if I would pay this fee raising my monthly payment. It resulted not being my problem because it's not my fault that their system sucks. Not to mention that I was waiting for at least 30 minutes so their old credit card machine would take my debit card. Overall I was annoyed that they asked me to go back on the price I signed for, but satisfied with the vehicle I bought for a good deal and a killer warranty. I would go back read more

They were given every document or proof they needed prior to us signing! Hector was the salesman and apparently he did not tie up his loose end before we closed on the car! The car started jerking after we received it and the maintenance light came on a few weeks later! I'm not even sure if the car had warranty so We didn't call and report it so we took the blame. Because things were not complete and the deal didn't go through; we had to resign! my buddy and I drove 2 hours down to lumberton for a sorento i wanted. already had everything lined up to where i could basically just sign the papers and go. just needed to test drive first.. couldn't even get in bc the power door locks didn't work. once we got in, noticed it hadn't been detailed like they said they would, so the interior was still lacking. the sales guy had to reset the radio to factory defaults to get it to work. once i got on the road, noticed it was pulling to the right pretty good and the driver heated seat wasn't working. yet, they were pushy about charging an $1,188.00 reconditioning fee... wtc.. my buddy even got off early so we could go down there so total time spent for this waste of time was about 7+ hours.. not to mention the sales guy, Terry, was basically yelling in my ear right behind me while i was pointing this stuff out and trying to come to a middle ground.. even my buddy in the passenger seat had to tilt his ear from where Terry "the salesman" was being so loud, pushy, and aggressive.. they were suppose to call me back yesterday morning... nada. this dealership is such a joke. they do not have an inspection & repair process for their used cars.. read more

They billed my son over $340 the day after he placed an order, despite their site saying they don't bill until the part ships. We waited the FULL "14 days" and heard NOTHING from them. When I ask for a number to call (on the dealerships Live Chat), I was given a wrong number - for some 800 Response Number?! I called the main number for the dealership and finally got through, 17 days after the order was placed , they still couldn't tell me if the part had shipped! (But they had the money!). Promised to cancel the order, refund the money, and send my son an email to that effect. Still haven't received the email . . . . looks like this is not over yet.
