I recently went to the Honda website to schedule my inspection appointment. I was filling in the information requested while receiving pop ups for Vehicle Trade Inquiry, which I kept trying to exit. Within a minute or so while entering my information, I received a call from Ryan Flanagan (lady) who stated that she was from Honda and wanted to find out what type of vehicle I was trading and what I was looking for. I told Ryan that I must have inadvertently entered my information into the wrong area as I wasn't interested in trading my car at this time and I apologized for the misunderstanding. I also told Ryan that I was trying to schedule an appointment for my inspection. Ryan said no problem and she would schedule the appointment for me, which she did. Ryan was very pleasant, patient, understanding, accommodating, and willing to answer any questions that I had & provide information that she felt I may need without me having to ask. The next afternoon when I arrived at the service department for my inspection appointment and I didn't get the gentleman's name who promptly arrived at my vehicle, and I provided my name, appointment time & what service I required. He promptly arrived at my vehicle, took my fob & returned the key portion to me & drove off. A saleswoman, whose name I didn't get either, approached me in attempts to convince me to trade in my vehicle. I explained that I didn't want my credit checked & I wasn't interested at this time, but I would be in a better position next summer, so that I can get the vehicle that I wanted with all the amenities. She said she wanted to show me what they had in stock & which I looked at. We discussed features & options and she said that she could run some numbers without checking my credit, which she did. Surprisingly enough, when she returned, the numbers looked good, but I informed her that I wanted to wait until the summer so I could work on increasing my credit score to get a lower interest rate & a lower payment. She said that she understood & to let her know when I was ready. While I waited to get my inspection completed, I was greeted by the Finance Manager, Keith Lowery, who introduced himself to me a few months ago during the oil change. Keith stated that he is the one who ran the numbers for the saleswoman & wanted to check in. Keith is very kind, helpful and always has a smile on his face. I saw the GM, Kent Locklear, who is the kindest, helpful & most understanding man you would ever want to meet. As I was preparing to leave, I was also greeted by the gentleman who drives the shuttle, who is always pleasant & accommodating. Amanda is the lady who gave me my paperwork & was helpful in answering any questions that I had. Im a vehicle transporter & In all of my years of transporting(6yrs), I have NEVER experienced what I did this Friday 8/8/2025! The night before, I booked some jobs on a loadboard, so Friday morning I pulled up to Lumberton Honda to deliver 1 vehicle & pickup 3 to transport. Delivering went smooth. I spoke with a ginger fella that was very nice & helpful. He told me 1 of the 3 cars were sold, so I'd only be taking 2, & his technician would bring me keys. I stood at the tower(desk) for less than 2 min waiting before a white haired guy came up & asked; "where are you taking these cars?" I stated: Fayetteville. Immediately he became very upset! He went off on a tangent raising his voice in frustration, saying, "Im not paying for that! I dont know why the system keeps doing this. At this moment im just standing there thinking he's joking & is going to cut the act & say SIKE! But he doesn't. As he's throwing this tantrum he grabs his cell phone & calls a personal rep w/ the company I booked the job from & goes: "Hey! One of your drivers is here trying to pickup the cars & take them to Fayetteville. Im not paying for that! Im not gonna pay for somebody to transport cars 20min up the street. I can do that myself!" Then he sets his phone down & looks up at me & rudely says: "yea you can leave, im not releasing those cars to you. You can go." In that moment I realized this was not a joke & this guy was actually serious & just out right rude as all get out! So I awkwardly say, oohhkay. & walk away. On my way back to the truck I called the dispatch company I booked the job from & told them what happened. The rep asked me who wanted to cancel the load & they needed their name to confirm. So i went back inside for that. Upon returning to the counter I said to the man: Excuse me sir, may I have your name? (When he responded he was basically yelling at me with a pompous irritated tone of voice/manner.) Him: MY NAME IS KENT & IM THE GENERAL MANAGER! Me: ok, & may I have the rep you spoke with? -HIS NAME IS ** Me: ok thank you. I turn my back & repeat the names to the rep im on the phone with. As im doing that Kent gets belligerent & starts yelling at me saying:YEA MY NAME IS KENT, IM THE GENERAL MANAGER & YOU CAN GO! YOU CAN JUST GET OUTTA HERE! I turn back towards the desk & say: Sir im going to leave, I just need to tell my rep who wanted to cancel the job so I can clear it on my end as well. He repeats himself stating he's Kent the general manger & that I needed to get out. At that moment his behavior began to upset me, because im literally here to simply do my job, yet this is how I get treated. So I say to the rep on the phone "do you hear how he is talking to me?" The rep says "yes, that guy is crazy. Why is he so angry?" I said "idk" & looked Kent dead in his eyes & said "do you have a problem with me? Him: YOU NEED TO GET OUT RIGHT NOW OR IM GOING TO CALL THE POLICE!! At this moment im in total shock & in total disbelief! I said in a soft, inquisitive tone: "call the police?" Him: YES IF YOU DONT GET OUTTA HERE IM GONNA CALL THE POLICE!! so I yelled CALL EM'! Then he yanks the phone receiver up & says IM GOING TO CALL THE COPS & IM CALLING YOUR BOSS! I shouted to him, IAM THE BOSS! & then left. I can not believe I experienced such rude behavior from a person who is supposed to represent the company as a whole & ought to have better customer service skills. Instead Kent Locklear is out here treating people like trash & thinking its ok to yell at someone for doing their job & threaten to call the police on folks for no apparent reason! I bought a $36,000 2023 Santa Fe. When I picked up my tags I told the salesman that the heating/air system was not blowing as it should be. He checked it out and told me to just call and make an appointment that it would be covered under the warranty. (My brother who was under hospice care and was living with me at the time prevented me from do so immediately. December 23, 2025 he passed away). After the holidays I called to schedule the service and was told I would have to pay a 250.00 deductible. The salesperson remembered that I had reported the defective vehicle but the dealership refused to fix the problem, stating I had 30 days to make any claims. I can understand if I had not made them aware and had been told that I only had a 30-day warranty. Its not like I'm trying to get one over on them or I broke the system. I let the Internet Sales Representative Tonia Hunt know up front that I was not interested in playing games and I was shopping other dealerships for the best price. Tonia responded with a price that no other dealership could touch so I discussed it with the wife and we decided to make the purchase. Made the appointment and arrived early with our trade to make the deal. After waiting 15 minutes a salesman by the name of Ryan Parker came over and introduced himself. I explained that I was there to see Tonia Hunt and was informed that I would be working with him. Ok, no problem. We sit down with him and he pulls the vehicle around that we were there to purchase. Updated review. We ended up buying not one but two cars from Keith Lowry. He is great and not high pressure. If we hadn't met him, we would have been in Raleigh, buying our new cars. We went there to look for a small car . They were insisting on going inside but we didn't want to waste our time and told them we just want to ask price for 2 models we checked on website. Then they took us to a new car. We said we don't want to spend much for a new car as we have 2 cars at home and don't need anything expensive. He asked what do you consider as good price and we give him our absolute high. He came back with his manager and the manager gave us exactly our absolute high as the price for that car. After doing all the paperwork and wasting hours of our time, they came with a price 1.5 times more. I wanted to share my experience with Lumberton Honda and the customer service I received. I reached out a few weeks ago and talked with Eric Locklear (salesman) about the car I was looking, he told me the same as every other dealership that the inventory is low ,but cars are trickling in slowly. He kept in contact with me over the week and called Tuesday to let me know the car I was looking would be in on the next truck. I said great I want the car. Eric said he would call me when the car came in so I thanked him and waited for his call. Today 5/12/22 he calls and says the car has come in and I said okay and I would be there no later than 7 pm. I then asked for an Out the door price because I have payment already and won't need the dealerships financing. I asked for an invoice so I could give to my credit union. He asked my address etc and replied he would send over an invoice. I received the invoice but asked if I could get a break down of the charges. He then sent over another copy and this time the price had increased $1,000. I asked why and Eric told me because they weren't getting any incentives for financing. So, I looked on the website to find the car and the MSRP, and found it listed for much less. I asked what the charges were and I was told total protection package plan and window tinting. I asked what does the total protection package cover and I was told coupons for service, window treatments every 6 months. The other items were basic add ons like cup holders etc. I told Eric I wasn't local and I didn't need the add ons. I asked if those could be taken off and he said he couldn't make that call. I told him I would send a price of what I thought was in fair range. I sent the price added tax, tags and title but never heard back. I was to pick up the car at 7pm , but received an email to let me know the car had sold. It's disgusting on how this dealership raised the price on a car and knew it was unethical so they send an email to say it's sold. I was pre-approved for my auto loan already through a finance company and had a set APR that I knew ahead of time. Not only did the salesperson lie to me and tell me that my APR was a point and a half higher than what I knew I was approved for, but they would not recognize my $500 military offer straight from Honda for the vehicle. I was a long time happy customer of Lumberton Honda. We purchased a 2018 Pilot and my in-laws purchased a new Honda CRV and I raved about how great the dealership was to anyone who would listen. Josh, my salesman knew I was in the market for a Jeep Wrangler (for over 2 years), he finally called me to tell me he'd found one that had everything I wanted. I went down the next day to look at it on my lunch. They ran credit checks on my wife and I, gave me a trade in value, we submitted copies of our driver's license and even had USAA add the VIN Jeep to our policy to show proof of insurance. I told Josh I wanted the Jeep and I told him my wife and I would be down after we got off work to complete the deal. in about an hour after getting back, I was texted that the Jeep had been sold. I couldn't believe my eyes and thought he was joking. I've since bought a great Jeep from Dodge of Fayetteville. Lumberton Honda, you have lost mine and my families business because of not having a policy in place to avoid this from happening. Very unprofessional! The way they treat and talk to their customers is so rude it left me feeling disturbed! We had an appointment at Kia of Lumberton and we called Tonia and made an appt to stop in at Honda first. We went there looking for a car for our family. We got talked into buying a brand new car and took it home. The next day we realized it wasn't going to work for our family. Brought it back the next day and took home another car more fitting. Traded in our car for the new car and for a week we never heard anything from the bank. We called the bank and they had told us that they haven't even received our contract from the dealership. We couldn't even get our plates transferred cause DMV didn't have us in the system. We just didn't feel right about the way things were turning out so we decided to return the 2nd car and just go somewhere else. We had to pay for the mileage that we used on the car and they had my car that was used for a trade in towed to some lot in cary and told me I have to be the one to get it back! I did everything on my end paid what they said brought whatever lapsed work was needed and the title for the vehicle. We live about an hour from Lumberton and made several trips to drop off paper work. Now I still have to deal with paying the tow fee for my car and picking up my title from the dealership. We tried calling Kent and what he said to my husband was so disgusting! All we wanted was to be treated fairly. It clearly stated that if the deal didn't go through that they would have to return whatever money/trade back to us. We're still without a car and are having to deal with getting our vehicle back. Thinking of buying a used car here? Save yourself time and money and buy somewhere else. First, Lumberton Honda is going to tack on $1000 if your credit score is below 680, that's on top of the higher APR the creditor is going to charge you for having a lower credit score. Then they are going to add a "reconditioning fee" for washing and vacuuming a car that they took a trade for. Yep, your paying for them to clean a car someone else sold dirty. Chances are they took money off when the car was traded in because of "reconditioning", but why not charge both the buyer and seller and double the profit right? Neither of you will know. You just want a new car! Congratulation! But of course this doesn't cover scratches, chipped windshields etc, just a basic car detailing. So now an advertised 12k car turns to 15k real quick, and that's before tax/tags or finance charges. They only show you in stages, so you get tired of sitting in their dealership and are ready to sign the next 4 to 5 years of your life away without using any reasoning skills. So they will show you a paper with this amazing "deal" and speed through all the wording on the "deal" quickly, just give you a down payment amount and a monthly payment amount, make you "sign" this non legal, non binding "deal" saying you want to do this, thus making you mentally "think" your locked into it. It's a physiological game that car salesman were famous for before the advent of this thing called the internet, but some are still playing on the hopes that you can't live without "that" car and you will buy without researching or thinking. So they will waste your time where the salesperson goes back and forth with the sales counter numerous times to try and squeeze more money out of you. They call it "haggling", in reality they all go through training to make you a sucker, if you have ever sold cars you know this trick. Its not "haggling", it's a mind game where you either walk out or you loose. Its hard for an honest person to sell cars. About like "fitting a camel through the eye of a needle". Wise up, use the internet right there on your cell phone. You can find the exact same used car at another dealership in Fayetteville, 100k less miles, $1k less overall and they will have you out the door in an hour with no haggle pricing. I kept telling my husband no and the salesmen . Then salesman got my husband hooked saying if he gets a 480 by the bank sign here see if we can make it happen on a random part of paper it wasn't a legit paper showing that was a for sure price . I'm not happy . And the payments monthly isn't even for us. Husband was under pressure. All done in less than 2 hrs . A dealer visit is a whole day visit when shopping for a car . Not rushed . The guy name Jay told me the car would be 34k and some change so basically 35k if you were to round it up... he told me that the price could NOT be negotiated in any way, shape, or form which is absurd considering I had a check in hand eager to make a purchase. On 15 Sep 2022 I had my friend Kelsey call and inquire about the same exact car and Tonia Lindsey told her it would be 31k and that the price CAN BE NEGOTIATED. I decided to call back and ask about the car and the same price from previous day was given to me again, I then asked Tonia Lindsey why my friend Kelsey was told one price and me something completely different? I also asked was it because I'm BLACK and my friend isn't, she got quiet for a few seconds then started acting confused saying that she didn't tell Kelsey that the car was 31k final price I told her that I heard her say it with my own two ears because I was on three way with them. I have never written an online review. If I have an issue, I take it up directly with the company. However, my experience with Lumberton Honda was so abysmal, I had to share it with others, so they know what they are getting into when dealing with Lumberton Honda, including their GM Kent. So, here goes. My car died and I wanted to buy a used car. I heard an advertisement on the radio. The advertisement was ONLY for Lumberton Honda and stated they had over 1000 cars in inventory. So, on my day off, I drove over an hour to the dealership. Upon arriving, I noticed only about 80 cars (FIRST RED FLAG). A salesperson approached me. I explained my situation include price range, mileage, gas mileage, what my monthly payment could be, the fact my wife would be looking for a car soon. Also, that we had just moved to North Carolina a few years ago and we were looking for a positive experience to build a relationship on. I was very honest and upfront with him. He explained the layout of the lot to me, and I began looking for cars. I noticed NO prices anywhere on the cars (SECOND RED FLAG). I narrowed it down to a few I was interested in. I asked about a particular car and its price. He didn't know off hand but went to get the keys for a test drive. We went out and he went into great detail about all the features, which was easy because he owns the same model. But I asked about the price several times during the test drive, and he deflected each time (THIRD RED FLAG). I also asked about the claim on the radio about over 1000 cars. He told me that inventory was spread across their 10 lots in other states like Texas and Florida (FOURTH RED FLAG). Upon returning to the dealership, I thought I might finally get an answer to my question. We did some preliminary paperwork. I asked several more times about the price and his response was "will you buy the car today if we can get the monthly payment close?" I told him, again, this was the first test drive I had taken and was interested in the car but wasn't ready to commit just yet. he continued with his aggressive tactics. After 7-8 times of asking for the price of the car and not receiving a clear answer, I told him I was leaving and didn't understand why he wouldn't tell me the price of the car. He also told me he they wouldn't run my credit until I committed to buying the car, because it would "negatively affect" my credit. I asked how my credit would be affected if I bought a car I couldn't afford. As I tried to leave the "sales manager" approached and rudely asked if she help with something. I expressed to all I wanted was to know how much the car cost and why a salesperson cannot give me the most basic information when buying a car (or anything for that matter). She shortly replied "Well, I can get that for you!" I left and visited other dealerships in the area. The whole experience didn't sit well with me, and I called to speak with a manager. The only "manager" was the one I had dealt with earlier in the day. That conversation did not go well. She pretty much offered no customer service or resolution on the matter. Voices were raised on both ends of the call, and I told her she was an "ineffective manager". She ended the call. I later called back to speak to the GM Kent, who had left for the day. The "sales manager" and I went round and round again with no resolution. She stated she would escalate it to the GM. She did finally tell me the price of the car. it was 2-3 times more than I told them I was willing to spend. If the price was on the car, I would have never even considered it and not wasted mine or their time. The next day Kent and I played phone tag. When I finally reached him, I cordially asked if was aware of the situation. He said he did and began yelling at me "who are you to talk to people that way" so on and so forth. Mind you this started because of the actions of HIS SALESPERSON AND HIS "MANAGER". I Told I would deal with Honda America directly. Honda's stance is the dealerships can operate how they wish. I requested to speak to the ownership not management. Honda reached out to the dealership and GM Kent said he would be the point person. A few days later Kent and I spoke, this time more cordially, although insincere. By this point I had purchased a vehicle and Kent asked, "What are you looking to achieve?" I told him I didn't want this to happen to anyone else and that he and his "manager" handled the situation horribly, lost a potential customer and they could start by putting prices on their cars. His tone suggested he was disingenuous and really didn't care that he lost a customer. I still don't know if ownership is aware of this situation and of the actions of Kent and his staff or if they just don't care. It is apparent that Kent and his team don't care. So, beware when buying from Lumberton Honda. If you have a bad experience with them, please take to social media, which I will be doing as well as referring this incident to the BBB. read more

By far the worst car buying experience I have ever had. Starting off this dealership is great for having cars on the site but not on the lot. Our car saleswoman's name is Deanna if I spelled that correctly. She was nice but regardless extremely pushy and desperate for a sale and those are by far the worst kind of car sales people because they don't allot you the option to make choices for yourself. She's was beyond pushy and more concerned about running my husbands credit and doing all the paperwork than doing the appraisal to his 2022 Widebody Scatpack. And then proceeded to question why we would want to do the appraisal before all the other paperwork. Anyways my husband made it known he was interested in looking at other cars at other dealerships but she continued to be extremely pushy to the point where my husband gave in. She even went as far as to making empty promises because everything she promised my husband she couldn't even provide. She also had my husband sign a paper signing. Apparently the talk on corvettes, firebirds, and trans am are way more important. The only time we talked about the paperwork was when he wanted my husband to sign something. Within a 3 hour span we realize that the car was not any better than what we had, when picking up our daughter and putting her car seat in. She even went as far as to making empty promises because everything she promised my husband she couldn't even provide. She also had my husband sign a paper signing. Within a 3 hour span we realize that the car was not any better than what we had, when picking up our daughter and putting her car seat in the vehicle it was too small, as well as considering I am pregnant with our second child the car would not suffice. We could've traded our way better car for a way better car than that Honda could've provided us even on their best day. So on hour 4 we decided to bring the car back and just see if we could get our old car back because we realized the trade off was not any good and we should've never been pressured into a vehicle. Might I add that when we returned 4 hours later my husbands car was already on display! Well upon returning to the dealership we spoke to James the financial manager since the GM left because he was not feeling well. For one, now at this point he was not only confrontational and overall unprofessional, the back and fourth made a scene to where we had to take it into his office. Where he made it known we would not be getting our car back as we signed a no cooling off policy, but in all actuality if they morally wanted to do the right thing they could've given our car back. It was 4 hours, the car went to our house and right back to the dealership. But this establishment could careless about the customer service aspect of things and apparently this wasn't the first time a similar situation like this had occurred. Which in all reality, I fault us for not reading thoroughly but I also fault the person whose job it is to make the paperwork clear and ensure a person knows what they are signing especially since he was well aware we already wasn't sure on the car to begin with. Also after calling the GM Mr. Locklear today my husband also said that he was rude. Realistically they will make double off of the car we traded in than they would've made off the car they sold us. Fortunately with my husband and I both being military we are working on having the establishment blacklisted to ensure no other soldiers will have to go through the terrible experience we had to deal with. We also are big within the car community and we made sure to let them all know to take any potential business elsewhere. After buying 3 cars and never once having a horrible experience I truly see why they have such poor reviews as they truly deserve it and live up to the expectations that they have set for themselves. I think they truly like to take advantage of people who don't know any better and get a kick at throwing it in ones face. But I am truly looking forward to making sure we continue to have this dealership be known for what they are. read more

This dealership operates a website called Honda Parts Overstock https://www.hondapartsoverstock.com/. I ordered two items in two different orders from them. The first arrived, and the mailman told me that something like an additional $8 of postage was required. When I purchased this item, I had to pay for shipping up front. What a scam! I refused the item and have not seen a refund. The second order didn't ship immediately. Five days after I placed the order I realized I didn't need the part, anymore. I requested an order cancelation. Another two days later the order shipped, anyway. I refused the shipment and received a 60% refund. Attempts to call the toll-free number on the Honda Parts Overstock resulted in no answer, not even an automated voice prompt. Worst service. Contacted them and was told to fill out a credit application online and did it within 10 Minutes. They never called back that day, were closed the next, when they finally called informed them I was a teacher and would need to be contacted via text or email. They continued to call anyway, then when I tried to call they gave me the run around kept saying they were busy. Still no update or information from them. I've never experienced this at any dealership. I even contacted the GM via email no luck there. They treat you as if they are giving you the car for free. Whenever they do deem me important enough to call I'll inform them my business will be taken elsewhere. read more

Excellent Service Center. We were travelling from NJ to Hilton Head for vacation. We always stay over in or near Lumberton to break up the trip. Along the way we picked up a nail in one of our tires. Saturday morning I called Lumberton Honda explaining my situation at 7AM. They told me to come over as soon as I could and had the tire repaired in one hour. Our family didn't lose any time as we were planning on continuing our trip by 9AM. Many thanks to the courteous staff in the service department. Beware that dealership. I negotiated a deal with the sales person, they check my credit, appraise my trade in and agreed on a price which took all day. But when it was time to sign paper the payment when up by over $100 from the agreed price. I did't buy the car their and recommend other not to by from them. read more
