We love Nepali food and were excited to try this restaurant. On Saturday night in downtown Baltimore and we were one of two tables. We order Butter Chicken, Naan, and Momos. This was the best butter chicken we have ever eaten, hands down. The Naan was delicious, too. We weren't able to finish the Momos yet, but the few that we had were tasty. Friendly and fast service. Definitely

I would have gladly paid $16.95 for sone good good but $16.95 for a mediocre lunch buffet?? No thank you. Had I known it was this much, I would have gone to the Nepal House.

I have been going to this testsujt for dine-in/carry out for nearly 5 years and it's always consistently delicious. My favorite is the goat curry(yes, it has bones in it--you get to lick your fingers ). The chicken tikka masala is also very good. One one my favorite Indian restaurants in Baltimore. Definitely worth checking out!

While Lumbini is still open for takeout and delivery, I had the chance to have dinner on a cold night before the pandemic slowly gripped the country. Daal soup, seafood pakora, saag paneer, gulab jamun, and a Kingfisher beer was the perfect meal. I hope they can fully open again soon.

I had dinner here once. The food came out extremely slow and had to take it to-go because I imagined I would come and dine for one hour, but it took 50 minutes for the food to come out. Nonetheless, the food was excellent and thought I'd give this place another try. Then comes today. I went in for lunch before noon and the same server showed me to the same table as last time. The place is quieter than other Indian buffets and less claustrophobic since it's more bigger. The food is actually better and seems healthier than other places. The service is excellent; it seems all buffets are trying to compete with each other. They will refill your water after each sip! I dined for $12.99 (lunch buffet) and it was worth it. Will come back.

Was visiting Baltimore and ended up eating at this place last minute... food was incredible! Highly recommended Update: Had to come back the next day because was craving their food so much! They remembered us and our orders, and were treated wonderfully! Definitely my new favorite Indian place.

Mango lassi: My least favorite part of the meal, this lassi tasted more like a drinkable yogurt than the sweetened mango smoothie I expect.

This review is based on delivery (through Grubhub). Delivery was quick and polite and the food arrived piping hot. We ordered two entrees (mutter paneer and gobi Manchurian) and single orders of butter naan, kheer, and mango lassi. I'll review each element separately but collectively, the meal was delicious. The servings were all exceptionally generous and the flavors, while mild, were delicious and balanced. Mutter paneer (served with rice): Creamy, rich, and mildly flavored. I prefer a more red mutter paneer but this was a good creamy version. The sauce is thick and and luscious, with gentle notes of cashew, tomato, and cracked pepper. Don't let the pepper deceive though, the cream lulls out any heat. The peas were perhaps 2 minutes overcooked: not mushy but they didn't have that bright freshness either. The paneer was drier than I would prefer, but was generously heaped throughout the dish which I greatly appreciate. Gobi Manchurian (served with rice): This will never be ideal for delivery. The precious crunch inevitably fades to a slightly greased limp. I was a little surprised to see a mix of cauliflower and broccoli but was unbothered (and honestly they tasted the same). The fried crucifers, peppers, and onions, bathed in thick and tangy tomato-based sauce that hung somewhere between a paste and a glaze. Spicy but balanced and the aromatics remained crisp and refreshing. Naan: Generously sized, this was a superb naan. Fluffly, pillowy, and fresh. It wasn't over-buttered or over-charred, as many naan are. It had the perfect bite and sturdy texture to scoop up all the thickly sauced bits. Mango lassi: My least favorite part of the meal, this lassi tasted more like a thinned yogurt than what I picture for a mango lassi. Sour and thick, the mango was a quiet second string to the yogurt. A good drinkable yogurt, but that's not the item I intended to order here. Kheer: HUGELY portioned in a drinking cup. The pudding was bright, mild, and fresh and the rice were perfectly cooked to a gentle bite. I would have personally liked to see some cardamom or rose-water here but that's just personal preference.

Chicken Tikka Masala, Gobi Manchurian, Catering Package #2 with Vegetable Samosa. So bad.

I was wondering how it compared to Charm City Buffet, which I have been to several times. I assumed that it would be about the same, if not a tad bit worse, because it's smaller than Charm City Buffet. I am pleased to say that I WAS WRONG. Jeremy, Justin and I all thought that Best Buffet was better. The people cooking the food actually want it to taste good, instead of throwing whatever up on the buffet line thinking quality doesn't matter. I managed to eat two plates of food, which doesn't seem like a lot, but I had some big honkin' portions of meat. Everything was incredible, and I wish I could have unzipped my stomach and continued to eat. The roast pork was so tender and delicious. The spare rib meat came right off the bone and was sticky with that great hoisin-flavored Chinese sauce. The crawfish were spicy. All the Chinese dishes tasted like something you would get at a quality take-away. The sweet and sour chicken nuggets were crispy, and you get to sauce them yourself, so they stay that way. Jeremy couldn't get enough of the pepper steak and onions. Justin was the only one to take advantage of the hibachi - which he liked, but said it could use more vegetables to choose from. He would have liked some broccoli and mushrooms. I'm not sure if those things were available over at the salad bar, but if they were I feel like the manager of the buffet should consider moving the salad ingredients closer to the hibachi, so customers realize they have more choice. The shrimp were okay. I think I may be eating them wrong. I don't understand the seasoned coating on the outer shell. I peel off the shell, and thus all the coating, so why is it there? I ate half a dozen of them, though, so don't think I'm going to let my confusion stop me from eating shrimp whenever possible. Sharon, our other friend, wanted to pay for Jeremy and I, but didn't factor in the fact that prices are higher on the weekends and during dinner (she picked the time and day), so I ended up paying for myself because the price for two was already more than she expected to pay. Personally, I thought for the selection of foods, and considering it was dinner, the price of approximately $22 per person wasn't bad. I think this is the reason why she said that she preferred Charm City Buffet (when we paid), though she claimed that she thought the food tasted better at CCB. Her favorite item at Best Buffet was the coconut shrimp (which I regret not trying, but I couldn't fit anything else in my belly). I do wish that there was something seriously chocolatey, like a brownie, on the dessert bar. I tried to soothe my sweet tooth with a slice of cake with chocolate mousse on top, but it just didn't cut it. This is my top buffet choice (for now. There's a new one being remodeled on North Point, behind the mall, that I'm eagerly awaiting). I feel like I could go there every week, try new things each time, and be just as pleased as I was on Sunday.

Second, the selection is huge. They pretty much have almost everything you expect in an AYCE place. Chinese hot food, Japanese sashimi, Korean BBQ, vegan salad, drinks, ice cream. One thing is that my empty plates were piling up before they were taken away, but I guess it was Saturday and they were busy. Overall the food selection was amazing. I only wish their desserts are better... I thought the little roll/balls in the frig was mochi... but no... it was something with unpleasant texture - they tasted like silicon... Other than that, I think this place is the best Asian AYCE I have tried in the US. If we are ever in Maryland and in the area we will definitely come back.

The sheer amount of food and variety they have is unbelievable! There is literally something for everybody, and everything we tried was delicious. The food was fresh, hot, flavorful, and there were so many options that it was honestly hard to decide what to put on the plate first. From the meats and sides to the seafood, desserts, breakfast options, and everything in between, Shady Maple really takes the meaning of a buffet to another level. And the desserts? Absolutely incredible! What impressed me the most was how clean, organized, and well-run everything was despite how many people were there. The staff was friendly, helpful, and constantly working to keep everything stocked and looking great. Since moving to Pennsylvania, I've been trying to experience some of the places that make this area special, and Shady Maple Smorgasbord is definitely one of those places. You have a choice between AYCE or by the pound. I know last time I came I got AYCE but honestly I don't eat that much anymore, so by the pound is more cost effective for me. There also are two different prices based on whether you want BBQ + sushi with your buffet. (Sushi??? I'll stick to BBQ when going Brazilian.) I tried to sample small amounts of the dishes on the buffet and then got some picanha and another steak cut (maminha). Both BBQ cuts were very good - I liked the maminha more. (Fraldihna is my usual favorite, and it's kind of similar to the maminha.). They had a chicken with capers that was probably my favorite of the buffet dishes. The stroghanoff wasn't bad. Some of the other meat dishes on the buffet were a bit dry. I got a mystery empanada which turned out to be guava & cheese, if it had been warmed it would have been better. I love guava, but there was just a little small rectangle of guava paste in the very center; probably 80% of the empanada had no filling. Similarly, the cheese bread balls were cold and hard. Those need to be right out of the oven to be worth it. It's a shame, they probably were good when they were first made but they weren't by the time I got to them. The potato salad was ok but the balance of mayo to potato & other veg was off (too much mayo). I had some fresh fruit too. All in all, I'd definitely come back (I love the steak!) but I'd focus on the things I know are good rather than trying a lot of things.

Matthew's Grill - Gaithersburg, MD Authentic Filipino…read moreComfort in the Heart of Montgomery County If you can't visit the Philippines--or if you simply miss authentic Filipino food--a visit to Matthew's Grill will absolutely help set the mood. From the food to the atmosphere to the people (both customers and staff), everything felt wonderfully familiar and welcoming in a Filipino tradition. According to Jimbo (sp?), our greeter and host, Matthe's Grill would be exactly the same as if we were actually there in the Philippines. Born and raised there, and apparently Matthew's cousin, Jimbo's enthusiastic friendliness set the tone for our entire visit. We first heard about Matthew's from an Uber driver who insisted it was the only nearby spot for truly authentic Filipino dishes. Based on our lunch, he wasn't exaggerating. We ordered: Matt's Crispy Pata - a mini mountain of succulent fried pork shanks, bone‑in and beautifully crisp outside and juicy inside. The vinegar dip cut through the pork fat like a flavor katana. Kare Kare - tender oxtail and vegetables in a rich peanut broth. Creamy and rich. CJ's Chicken Wings - reportedly among the top ten in the region, and easy to believe people would make a meal of these alone. Lumpia/Egg Rolls - reminiscent of Mexican taquitos, perfectly fried and addictive. Once you start eating them o it is hard to stop! White Rice - served alongside everything, as it should be. Each dish came with its own sauce or dip to enhance the flavors. I can't personally confirm how authentic each recipe was, but I can say everything was delicious, portions were generous, and we took home more than half for another meal. (We'll be reheating by air‑frying and convection baking--these dishes are far too nuanced and crispy for the microwave!) Service was fast, tables were large and clean (great for families), and complimentary water arrived in big refillable pitchers. Music played at a pleasant background level. The all‑gender restroom is located down the left hallway behind the kitchen--clean and well supplied. Parking is free and plentiful in the shared strip‑mall lot. A note on hours: Matthew's is only open for dine‑in on Thursdays and weekends, though take‑away is available on some other days. It's best to check ahead. We were among the only dine‑in guests on a Friday at lunchtime, but there was a steady stream of customers picking up take‑out orders. If you go, I recommend embracing the Filipino experience. At minimum, it's worth learning how to say "thank you" in Tagalog. We did. Salamat!
