I have been a customer at Lumes restaurant for over 30 years. We would go to their several locations as it was always great food and service. BUT in the last few years there has been a decline across the board. The quality of the food has become hit or miss as some days it was great and others not even good. Some days their soup is watered down to the point of no flavor. The latest change is when you get a carry out order. You walk in to order and your handed a menu that STATES clearly all sandwiches comes with fries and cup of soup. Now if you place a to go order it does not even though you are charged the same amount as if you ate it in and received your cup of soup. Now you can only purchase a bowl of soup with your to go orders. The issue is that it is NOT posted anywhere in the restaurant and 99% of the time when you go to pay you never see the detailed bill. I can take food being a miss at times , but not deceptive practices. I now go to Egg Harbor as the quality and taste are so much better. Lumes you lost a very long term customer. read more

Came here either a friend on Saturday around 1pm. It was packed, yet we did get greeted and seated right away. Our sever was extremely friendly and talkative. She was very attentive and quickly got us eager, coffee and whatever else we needed through our meal. We both ordered omelette and they were huge and came with a large portion of potatoes. We both ended up taking home leftovers. No complaints about that. The food was really good. The vibe is like a typically family style diner. We hadn't visited for a few year's but had taken my Father there for Father's day where he had his favorite called a "Dutch Baby". Ample room between tables and lots of booth's to chose from. Very friendly server. We had plenty of leftovers when we pooled them had breakfast for the next day. Very affordable and to top that off a Senior Discount had been applied at the cash register. I ordered the Avocado Lotto . A disappointment for $18. One would expect to see an abundance of avocado. Instead, a couple of slices were hidden under the two huge scoops of Tuna salad.. i felt duped. I really did. The service was excellent and the ambiance was excellent so I cant speak for the other dishes hence the 4 stars. Shame on me, but almost 20$ for two slices of avocado, to me that ain't no avocado lotto but instead smothered in cottage cheese, tuna, and a few slices of fruit . A disappointment. Steer clear of this dish. Try something else. I thought the menu was pricey.... For breakfast food, but maybe I'm a Luddite. Just a heads up, izall. #66/2023 Lumes pronounced (LOOMS) is a regional Chicago area based breakfast/lunch chain similar to like Original Pancake House and Blueberry Hill cafes. Founded in the early 90s they have expanded to all directions around the Chicago suburbs with one location in the city. That one of course made news back in the covid days with a tragedy that at least they've gotten over. Like any classic breakfast place it's pretty much all the same full menus loads of selections from omelets to pancakes to crepes to waffles. August 31 2023 Walking into the Orland Park location it was pretty crowded but they seated me quickly. I looked at the menu and decided on getting just a classic eggs benedict potatoes and some extra Hollandaise. Quality of the food was good It's like any other place anymore your days of 599 breakfasts are gone it's going to cost you about 20 bucks anymore no matter where you are it seems. Just the nature of the beast. Waitress kept my coffee refilled. I will probably return here again we have so many different ones around the area where I live for choices. Although on the back of one of the tickets there's also a Lumes breakfast Cafe that is not listed in Willowbrook because they have old pads in stock basically for years and they're not going to make a new printing of them just for that lol but there is one in Willowbrook. read more

I had an absolutely wonderful experience here. We came in around 7:40am while I was waiting to get my car serviced so it was pretty empty and we were served right away and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Great food! I come here for breakfast and lunch often. They have a specials menu that is different from their other locations with tons of delicious options. My favorite is the Turkey panini. We see they are busy often and decided to try them out. It's very mediocre. There are better breakfast/lunch places in town and around town. Tried it, and they were just ok. It's not terrible, but not memorable either. Service was extremely lacking. The server was more of an order taker like at McDs employee. Never even can by after food was dropped to see how we were doing. Didn't bring napkins I asked for either, and no ice water refill. I just watched him hang out and talk more than work. I ordered the certified angus skirt steak (medium cooked) with eggs, wheat toast, and potatoes on the side. My boyfriend ordered the south of the border entree with English muffin on the side. It had a very savory flavor that paired well with the brightness of the hollandaise. I have never felt so discriminated (hispanic) ever at any establishment I came in at 2:09 pm on November 18 2023 with my daughters to get a quick lunch. The gentleman at the front sat us right away very polite. I sat there looked at the menu decided what to eat and put them down. I was looking to see if and of the 2 servers that I saw would come up to acknowledge us... the one gentleman with the tattoo on his neck(Caucasian)looked right at me and looked away I figured he would come in a minute .Meanwhile a couple (Caucasian) walked in .Tell me why after 2 minutes of them sitting down he went to their table and took their order brought them their drinks and continued to put their order in.At that moment I got up and decided to ask the person who sat us down to see who our server was he got up right away and guess who the server was the same man that looked right at me and ignored me the same man that took the other couples order knowing that I was there 23 minutes before them He came to my table and asked what can I do for you no apology of why he took so long nothing and I wanted to stay but I could not get past how he made my children and I feel. He should be ashamed of himself!!!!!! I got up and told my children to do the same I could not stay in a place where I was discriminated for being Hispanic I'm proud of who I am . He had the audacity to ask did I do something wrong ?? I felt uncomfortable after being there for only 15 minutes to the point that I kept turning my head towards the kitchen area to check to see if the staff was giving me and my coworkers dirty looks...and they were!! I am appalled that I had to experience such deliberate bad service due to my race. The waitress asked if I was ok because she was very much so aware of the service that we were experiencing. Before I could put my credit card back in my wallet, a staff member pushed my food towards me with the notion for me to make my way to the door. Lumes on a Sunday morning, a parking lot that was packed, a waiting area that was packed had all the had the makings of a great breakfast spot. Walking in and having to wait was tough to do, I wanted that coffee and bacon and other breakfast items whose aroma filled the packed house now, I didn't want to have to wait. There was a 2 minute wait before the hostess who was checking customers in and running the register put us on the wait list. Not even 2 minutes later, we were chosen. Sitting at the freshly cleared table that was still wet, as soon as we sat down our server walked over and took our drink order, almost immediately coffee appeared before us. Two minutes later we were ready to order, the food was brought out before I finished a half cup of the steaming hot coffee. I opted for some toast drowned in syrup then covered in sauteed cinnamon apples, raisins and Georgia pecans. I didn't have any bacon, I wanted a healthy breakfast. Fearing that breakfast wouldn't be the same without bacon, I was delightfully surprised with how delicious my breakfast was. The server asked if I wanted more coffee and came back with more right away. Our empty dishes were cleared from the table quickly leaving us sitting with our coffee. I always go to the one on 116th since I was out this way in Orland Park I figured I'll go to this for breakfast , worst decision!! I do not recommend coming to this restaurant please go to the one on 116th and Western I've been going to that one for years and they've never got my waffles wrong. My waitress was wonderful but her manager on duty had a despicable attitude. After the waitress said that they were take it off my bill when I got to the cash register the manager said no he can't take it off.
