I made my return to Lumi Cafe recently and was pleased to discover they have maintained the same high-standard for their desserts, drinks, and ambiance. I especially enjoyed their new seasonal mango cheesecake bingsu and apple pie toast. They may have the best bingsu texture in town! They use a self-service model for food collection, utensils/water, and bussing dishes - which most diners are good about, but the staff could do a better job with wiping down tables and making sure tables are cleared and utensils are topped up. I was there for over 2 hours and they ran out of metal spoons and paper napkins by the time I went to order a second drink (about an hour in). Aside from this detail, they offer a great third space for folks to hang out in. We've been to Lumi in Lynnwood, but it's our first time to have desserts here in their branch in Redmond. Just like in Lynnwood, their desserts are awesome. We had the Taro Bing Soo and the Bubble Waffle with strawberries and bananas---both yummy. The place is large enough, in a corner of a building. There's a counter where you order and they call you to pick it up. You bus your own tables, which is ok. There are 2 restrooms in the back. Great to see this place in business for "so many" years. Parking is still slightly odd, but once you figure it out, it's all good. Nice contrast to Hawaiian and other shaved ice offerings. This Korean "bingsu" is so much more sophisticated, starting with how much finer the ice shavings are. Asian levels of sugar/sweetness which is marginally healthier and a good mix of other ingredients, including the equivalent of ice cream to help you get over the fact that you're eating flavored (frozen) water. =) Service is outstanding and the sitting area - and bathroom - is clean and nicely laid out. read more

Nice little dessert shop in the Bel-Red area. LUMI is located in the retail area of the Modera apartment complex off Bel-Red Road. A handful of retail parking spots are available in the underground garage, otherwise there's some street parking around. I got the mini size mango cheesecake bingsoo, and was surprised by how good it was! I will say it was a bit on the sweeter side though. Portion size was quite generous for "mini", I feel like it could definitely have been shared by 2 people. Service was friendly but minimal, only interaction is when ordering. After that you will need to get your order when it's ready, get utensils, etc, and then bus your dishes on your own. After dinner, we stumbled upon this little dessert gem--and we're so glad we did! The parking was a bit of a scavenger hunt (only two reserved spots), but there seemed to be some street parking nearby if you're up for the hunt. Very cute place though only had 3 tables and it was packed when I went on a rainy night. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, we opted to sit inside. Once we got there, there was only 1 other customer so I was able to order right away. They have a display case that shows what they have to offer so you'll know what to expect when you get your order. They have more than Bingsu - they also have Golden Toast, Bubble Waffles, Coffee, Milk Teas etc. so if you're not a Bingsu fan, you can definitely find something else that tickles your pickle. Their Bingsu come in 3 sizes - Mini, Single and Regular. I ended up ordering the Single Banana Crumble Bingsu ---- &&&& ZOMG, IT. WAS. SO. GOOD. I am a fan, 10 out of 10 would recommend! Have been here twice, and told myself I would try the dessert the second time I came, but ended up just getting drinks again. We came on a late Friday night, and it was pretty busy and packed. *This review is purely an experience review. We did not eat anything here. We walked in maybe 20-30 mins before closing and they were completely out of most of the things which was disappointing. We were willing to try something else out of their menu but they mentioned we couldn't be seated. The entire reason we came out was so we could socialize outside of homes. Wouldn't have thought there to be a cute dessert cafe where it's located in bel-red but was pleasantly surprised! Came here to try their boba a few different times and really enjoy their drinks. The only thing is that one time I went here maybe 30 minutes after they opened around 12:30 and they didn't have their boba prepared so I had to have my milk tea without the pearls which was disappointing so recommend you getting there an hour after it opens just in case. I also had their chocolate bingsoo dessert (the larger size) and shared it, and it's a pretty good portion. The ice itself was so creamy and would highly recommend trying if you're looking for something cool/refreshing and sweet. There's parking in the garage with a few spots reserved from Lumi customers - it's around the side street to the cafe and you have the drive in a bit and loop around inside to get to the indoor parking. There's also outdoor parking available. Cafe is located in an apartment plaza complex. Some good seating available inside and really nice vibe, where you can either hang out with friends or even study/read. I've got before 2pm and it's never been busy before. I give this cute dessert shop 5 stars! The bubble waffles are delicious, perfect crunchiness but still soft and gummy on the inside. Kiddo is allergic to berries and they were able to replace it with bananas. Since they came with sprinkle nuts and it didn't say in the menu, we were able to eat it. After our order had already been started, we were told that another major ingredient for the injeolmi (rice cakes) was missing - though they did substitute in ice cream, it just wasn't quite the same. We also were only given literally 2 almond slices for garnish, although the display made it look like it was meant to be a main feature. Bingsoo in itself was good, great texture and taste.
