Lost count of the number of times i have eaten here. Every single time is always perfect. Their happy hour specials definitely make it on the more affordable side with plenty of great options. Today we got the akira back pizza and the shrimp tempura appetizers, as well as the sea-bass serano roll. We also got the krispy rice with spicy tuna. The waiter was friendly and patient as we made our decisions Will continue to come here even if i ever move out of downtown

Located on the 4th floor and had a really nice vibe. Everyone was super nice and friendly, and everything our waiter recommended was really good. We made it for happy hour and the yellowtail Serrano was our fav.

Loved this place. Service was great and the food all tasted very fresh. The karage chicken didn't look good but it was seasoned well. The drinks were pretty and good The rooftop is nice depending on where they sit you. Def worth checking out.

The service was excellent and very attentive to our group. We always love the vibe with the dj and the lighting with the artwork on the walls. The rooftop has fire pits too which is always nice. We got some drinks and i love the appetizers we got which is the pizza one and yellowtail Serrano. Then I got the charred yellowtail roll which was delicious too. The nigiri chefs selection was nice and fresh as well.

I love a good rooftop restaurant, and downtown SD there are not too many sushi ones, so this was at the top of my list! I'd say that the overall Yelp ratings are very representative of my experience here. The rolls were great and we were mostly happy with all the items we ordered. I had asked what the most popular app to share was and our server recommended the akira back pizza, which ended up being just okay. Each slice was about a bite and a half or two bites, and if you ate it in two bites all the toppings would slide off with it (so one bite is recommended hahah). It was alright, wouldn't order again. I love the fusion concept and would come back to try other dishes. Our server was incredibly sweet and really attentive. Overall, a little pricey for what you get but that's downtown San Diego restaurants with a great ambiance for ya!! Truly a great vibe here. Music a bit loud for conversations but can make it work, ahah.

I really like the vibe of this place ! Really lively for a Thursday and even to our surprise there was a Dj ! Yassss! Really delicious food not disappointed at all and I ordered a martini it was made to perfection! I would be going back again!

On Saturday, at the peak of Comic-Con, my friends and I took a breather from our action-packed day and had lunch at the beautiful rooftop restaurant. We took an elevator that led us to the fourth floor. The restaurant was beautiful with a nice view of downtown. We were seated at a table across from the bar. As we sat down, we spotted actor Norman Reedus with his crew sitting at a corner table by the ledge not too far from us. I poked my head in to take a few photos of the actor and he got up and asked if I wanted a photo with him. We shook hands and hugged, then he took a selfie of us with my phone. That was the highlight of my day! I'm told that stars often come to this restaurant! Aside from being star struck, I was also pleased with the food. We ordered the following to share: spicy chili, garlic edamame, Lumi roll, rainbow roll, Akira back pizza, and the chef's premium sashimi selection. For dessert, we each ordered an AB Cigar (white chocolate matcha mousse, strawberry jelly, cacao nibs). The sashimi were all very fresh. We enjoyed the Lumi roll and rainbow roll. The Akira back pizza was not a favorite. It was just ok and none of us really cared for it. The "crust" was crunchy but also extremely greasy. We really enjoyed the AB Cigars. I liked how the matcha mousse wasn't too sweet. Service wasn't too bad, considering the Comic-Con crowd. This restaurant is worth a repeat visit when it's not so chaotic. Overall, I enjoyed our lunch and would recommend this restaurant.

Came here for a friends birthday recently. Beautiful open air space with cute modern decor. Our server was great and attentive. I got the yellowtail Serrano which was great. I'll definitely be back!

Lumi was highly recommended to me by a friend, and I can see why it's one of his favorite spots in Gaslamp. Lumi is a beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant with great views of the skyline. I liked its lounge-y laid-back vibe, but I would err to the side of smart casual based on what most customers were wearing. I made dinner reservations for 9pm on a Thursday evening. It was chilly, but we felt comfortably warm thanks to the heat lamps. The group next to us requested one of the servers to turn off the lamp, which was not a problem. The walls were high enough to break the wind, so the chilliness wasn't too bad. Our server's name was Carlos, and he was great. Personable and very attentive. Bonus points for our food coming out in a timely manner. My husband and I enjoyed the food. We shared plates of the Tempura Shrimp, Huntress Dry Aged Ribeye, Puffed Salmon Roll, and AB Cigar. I will go as far as saying that Lumi's Tempura Rock shrimp is much better than Nobu's. The batter was extra crunchy, and the creamy salsa verde was excellent. The ribeye was juicy, tender, and fatty. I did find it to be a tad salty, but it was still my favorite dish. The Puffed Salmon roll was fine. Probably the most basic of the 3 dishes, but it was a nice palate cleanser. The AB Cigar was a lovely light dessert with white chocolate matcha filling with the raspberry gelee.

Food: 5/5 Drinks: 5/5 Portions: 3/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Customer service: 5/5 Speed: 4/5 Price: $$$ Outdoor seating: yes ADA access: yes, elevator Restrooms: yes, 3rd floor M/F Dogs: no Vegetarian options: yes, few Vegan options: yes, few Ambiance: casual to upscale Pros: excellent customer service! Beautiful ambiance. Delicious food and drink. Cons: not enough veg/vegan options if you ask me. Parking can be expensive to get to this location

    Madeleine K.

Actually so delicious. And immaculate vibes. I don't eat raw fish so caveat my taste review but the vegan roll and tempura roll were two of the best I've ever had. The chef is clearly a rare talent. Even if the food was bad I would go back for the views of the city on the rooftop.

    Nasty rolls

Sushi was very good quality rice was hard and just an overall bland flavor on everything omw to eat somewhere else.

Service at the bar was great!! Got here a little late and a when coming in a server told us they were done with dinner service. Went to the bar to get a cocktail and search on our phones for a different place in the area for food. Bartender told us there was still time for food and saved our evening!! Super friendly bar staff and a great location on the rooftop. Dinner was great and would come back not on a time crunch to try more food!!

    Ask the Community - Lumi

Does they have a valet parking?

Yes, they do offer valet parking, and pricing varies depending on when you want to go and how busy downtown might be. We parked at the mall and took the trolley into Downtown and it was so much easier (and less expensive)

    Is it 21+?

No. It seems like the type of place people (including under 21 patrons) might collectively go to avoid rambunctious children and have a great time.

Is this restaurant kid friendly? Can I bring my baby with me for dinner?

No it is not. It was all adults the night we were there.

    What's the surcharge for?

Lumi, like many other restaurants are citing the rising cost of doing business in California....minimum wage increases, State and local mandates.......I'd rather see them just increase prices rather than complain about the cost of doing business

I booked for a party of 10 on Saturday but it's forecasted rain was wondering if there's accommodations for that?

The roof is retractable so no worries! Staff food and drinks are excellent. The best sushi! Enjoy

Where's the best place to sit in the restaurant? Dining room? Bar top?

    Rooftop

Is there first come service (no reservation) in the bar with tables or sofas?

No you will need a reservation, sometimes they seat you if they have space at the bar but it is unlikely to happen

Does your staff (servers and cooks/chefs) wear masks?

    some do

Can we make reservation for brunch? Or is the reservation only for dinner?

Yes, you can make it for brunch! There was a minimum for us but we had a party of 8.

    Is this place kid friendly?

At brunch/lunch we saw a few other kids. The scene is a little more sophisticated than your typical Gas Lamp District Chad's.

    Are dogs allowed?

It's an upstairs patio restaurant. I have never seen dogs

I see they have a brunch menu on their website but on here it says they open at 5pm. Is that a typo?

We’re open Tuesday - Sunday for dinner at 5pm and for weekend brunch on Saturday & Sunday from 11am - 3pm!

Can I go for drinks and not eat? We are doing dinner at Huntress and would like to go up just for drinks.

100%. That's what we did. Enjoy.

Is it currently by reservation only?

I think you can walk up but to be completely honest I would NEVER ever try that. They are always completely slammed. Unless you had a couple hours to hang around and wait.

What's the maximum group size for a reservation?

    I believe it's 6

Is this place kid friendly? Like preteen and ten year old?

I'm sure they would try to accommodate, but no not really.

Their hours are incredibly confusing. They say they are open on Sundays but when I call no answer (I called past 12pm) after they updated their hours 08/05. What days and times are they open?

Hi Sydney, We’re closed Mondays & Tuesdays and open for dinner from 4pm to 11pm Wednesday - Friday. During the weekend, we’re open for lunch & dinner on Saturday from 12pm -…

Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

I love coffee (specifically strong espresso drinks), so I asked for a strong, coffee infused, punchy cocktail, but with a different base of alcohol from the old fashioned. This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!

Convoy Music Bar was my first HiFi experience and it did not disappoint! CMB is an intimate…read morelistening bar situated in an alleyway with a dark and moody ambiance. Speakers and vinyls line the walls. Vibes are more elevated here than at your usual bar. I ordered the Nickel Fortune, which came out with a fun tarot card. It was a savory drink with a nice lingering of sesame oil after each sip. Seating is pretty limited inside, so reservations are recommended. CMB's website states that "cocktail attire is celebrated."

Always a 5 Star experience when gathering for drinks here…read more Over the years, the names have changed for the provider of Polite Provision's delicious orderable food to go along with their polite provisions. Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Food served is now Asian-inspired. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. While you're there, don't forget to stop by "An's Dry Cleaners", where the most inventive gelato's, ice creams and sorbets come from.

The drinks we ordered were good and service didn't take too long. Right next to Fortunate Son so you can order food from them and enjoy in their bar.
