I stopped by before my flight as I found this restaurant had a great happy hour special before my flight. However while I thought I would not spend as much, I ended up spending a lot more than I would've liked. First, I asked for replacement for blue crab instead of imitation crab, this ended up costing the roll an up-charge of $6 which was information not provided to me when I was ordering. And on top of it, when I placed an extra order of edamame, I placed it right before 6pm, however the server did not tell me despite I pointed to the edamame on the HH menu. I just felt she was trying to deceive me and trying to up-charge more. However the roll I got was a good size, and my miso soup was good as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I found the decor to be nice![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While I enjoyed the food, I just found the HH special to be deceiving and will try different ways to charge more. Note none of the up-charges I was notified. Be careful when you are dining for the Happy Hour special!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What an amazing restaurant vibe and fresh, high quality sushi.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love the portion and freshness of the sashimi. The nigiri (emperor flight) was outstanding. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The grilled octopus was tasty and a wonderful starter. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is magical and inviting - I can sit here for hours.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommended!

Cloak & Petal was such a vibe! I loved the ambiance and the music. The sushi was delish! I highly recommend the Saucy Boi! They're in the middle of redecorating and adding art and I can't wait to see the new art next time! The service was great, the drinks were yummy! I highly recommend for a sushi date!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Trendy Japanese and hip-hop inspired artsy decor make for a really unique ambience whether you're dining on the Michelin Guide-recognized Japanese fusion cuisine or just partaking at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is good but I thought it was just comparable to what you would get at many other sushi restaurants. Open late, which is a plus. This is a place you would go for memorable ambience and a good meal.

We come to San Diego every couple of months, and Cloak & Petal has been a staple for us for years. The food and drinks never disappoint, and the staff is always incredible. The artwork has always been one of my favorite parts of the experience, too! They recently completed a remodel, and I'm absolutely loving the new pieces. Every visit reminds us why we keep coming back. Highly recommend!

Came to watch the summer house reunion episodes and had a good time. Was pleasantly surprised that they also have happy hour! While I didn't partake my friends did and they loved everything. They have rolls, apps, cocktails and wine all on happy hour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space itself is really fun and designed with really bold colors and decorations. Love the floral vibe as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was friendly and very quick! I'd definitely come back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is a cute spot for a group outing or date night. The lighting is dimmed and the decor is so cute. Tons of florals. I loved the trees and the hanging floral especially.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have 2 bar areas. We got 4 rolls. The Bushido, Kamikaze, Abuelita and the Notorious PIG. All rolls were equally delicious! 8/10. We also got the Spicy Garlic Noods which was also really good. Our waitress was very attentive and polite! Our food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner. We spent a total of $230 with tip for 4 people. We will definitely be back.

We joined up with a group for Happy Hour at around 4pm on a Friday. They had few cocktails on the HH list along with quite a few apps. We started with salted Edamame which was pretty perfect and followed up with the spiced ribs, bao, and various sushi options. The pork bao was my favorite. I also enjoyed the Japanese mule cocktail which is a riff of the Moscow Mule. Our server was very accommodating of the increasing size of our party. The restaurant got noticeably busier as the night went on so our 4pm strategy was on point.

One of my go-to spots for sushi in San Diego! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love coming here mostly for the location & aesthetic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their food & service is always good , I just wish there was a bit more variety of quality food.

I've been wanting to come to this place for years now. My girlfriend and I wanted to catch up after a long time. We had a reservation at another restaurant down the street but unfortunately we couldn't get in because due to some miscommunication with the reservation so we walked into this place unplanned without a reservation. It was a friday, around 6:30 so we were able sit at the bar since it was just the two of us, right in front of the cherry blossom trees which was amazing! We didn't really want to eat dinner dinner, but just snack and drinks. We ordered the Lychee Sakura, Kiwi Fu and Shiso peachy for drinks and they were all so delicious! We also ordered the vegetable dumplings (really delicious) and the avocado roll was okay. Can't really speak fully to their dinner menu but for a catch up, this was kind of perfect

Cloak and Petal was not a great experience for us. We went on a weekend evening. Had a little bit of a wait to get in no big deal we walked around the area. Once we were sat the service was okay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had our baby which it isn't super child friendly but they had high chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was slow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also had big tables around us so got overshadowed at times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is cool inside and has good vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was just not up to par. We had the fried rice with pork belly which was good and the best thing we tried. The actual sushi was really disappointing, fish didn't taste very fresh and was super overpowered by all the extras. Maybe this place would be your thing if you like more over the top rolls and don't mind subpar fish flavor. Either way wasn't for us and we won't be back or recommending moving forward.

I'd heard plenty about Cloak & Petal before finally making my way in, and I'm happy to report it more than delivered. For a first visit, this place made an immediate impression. I started at the long, striking bar, which is reason enough to pause before you even look at the menu. The lighting was warm and flattering, the music was on point, and the entire space had that polished, immersive energy that makes a place feel both buzzy and intentional. Brandy took excellent care of me from the moment I sat down. She was attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming without ever overdoing it. Also worth noting: the mocktails here are outstanding. Far too many restaurants still treat spirit-free drinks like a box to check, but that was clearly not the case here. These were thoughtful, balanced, and crafted with the same care you'd hope to see across the rest of the menu. And then came the standout: the 10-piece Ninja Mix. This was, without exaggeration, one of the most memorable sashimi plates I've had. I've eaten sashimi in plenty of places, and what set this apart wasn't just the quality of the fish, though that was excellent. It was the orchestration. Every element on the plate felt considered. The caviar, the wasabi, the accompaniments, the presentation, the balance of texture and flavor--nothing felt random, and nothing was there just for show. It was a beautifully composed plate that reflected real precision and care. That's the difference between a good sashimi dish and one that stays with you. This one had both technical quality and aesthetic sensibility. It felt curated, not assembled. Cloak & Petal absolutely delivered on atmosphere, service, and execution. Between the beautiful bar, Brandy's excellent hospitality, the standout mocktails, and a 10-piece sashimi plate that genuinely impressed me, this was a first visit that earned the hype.

If you love sushi and good vibes, you will love this lively and aesthetically eye pleasing place. You walk in and your eyes immediately go to the gorgeous tree full of cherry Blossoms covering the main bar. I went several times and let's talk about it On the weekends Fri and Sat, this is a happening place so either make a reservation or hope bar seating is open. Happy hour during later in the week can also be busy. They have a great happy hour, so if you want to try some of their cocktails and rolls before committing, happy hour is a must. Happy hour prices for cocktails, food and some specialty rolls are about $13. This is a great deal since most sushi rolls will run $16-25 and cocktails $16-20. At regular menu price, I believe the prices are on point for what you get, which is delicious sushi, yummy cocktails, immaculate vibes and eye pleasing decor. All the rolls we ordered I would rate 9-10. I also want to say I am a newbie to sushi, but my hubby is a sushi expert (according to him lol). Read further if you want to know my favorite What we ordered Saucy boi - spicy but good! 10/10 Cesar Chavez 9/10 Kamikaze 9/10 Tokyo gangster 9/10 Rock steady- 10/10 one of my favorite. Something about Himachi always calls me. My favorite dish was actually the skirt steak...$34 I got this dish two days in a row because after my first try I needed to go back and have it again. The portion may look small due to the bowl but there's a lot of meat in there and it is delicious Cocktails Japanese mule- if you love mules, you will love this. It's refreshing Lychee Sakura- good but too sweet for me. I don't think I would order again. Shiso peachy- would order again. Flavorful, I would love for it to be a bit stronger A5 reserve- like whiskey? Then you will enjoy Why go here... Little Italy San Diego...I mean, say no more Happy hour 10/10 Main menu- great and lots of options Cocktails-yummy Vibes 100% Perfect for a date night or even a party because they also host events. No issues with service. Everyone was attentive

Had to put in our names, as there is only so much space on an early Saturday evening. Took all of 10 minutes before entry was granted. Led inside to a standing room-only table. I probably did the wrong thing and didn't allow the ice packed on top of the swizzle to melt thoroughly enough into the drink to dilute the 151 overproof black Demerara's rum. Nae worries, brah. Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

They also have some seats at the bar. This restaurant has gone all in on the space theme, from the hostess greeting to the decor in the restaurant and restroom, and even the menu and tables. Such a fun vibe! This place is known for their cocktails. I forget what we ordered because they all have funny names, but both my friend and I really enjoyed our choices. The food was great too. We ordered the tofu. I think it had a light tempura fry, yummy sauce, and very large portion. The bread is roti with an eggplant and tomato dip. Very good, but not enough dip. I'd still order it again. Probably the only negative was that I felt a bit rushed to leave. We were enjoying our conversation, entrees, and drinks and got checked on quite frequently. Eventually the waiter said, no rush but here's the check. Kind of ruined the vibe. We decided to pass on dessert here and walk to an ice cream shop in the same neighborhood.

My party ordered a whiskey flight, the sojiros sprotini, the trash panda, and the ube cocktail. All had very unique flavors. Will be returning to try more drinks on the menu! I highly recommend reservations, especially on Friday evenings and weekends. I tried walking-in on a Friday night and was turned away because of how busy it was. Also - do not try to open the door yourself manually... My party was berated for doing so, oops.

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!

Speakers and vinyls line the walls. Vibes are more elevated here than at your usual bar. I ordered the Nickel Fortune, which came out with a fun tarot card. It was a savory drink with a nice lingering of sesame oil after each sip. Seating is pretty limited inside, so reservations are recommended. CMB's website states that "cocktail attire is celebrated."
