I had tried several places around town and would pretty much always end up with the same results; I'd feel better for a few hours or maybe a day if I was lucky. The problems seemed consistent no matter where I went. The therapists would always have either too soft of pressure or painfully inconsistent pressure as they struggled through their set list of pre rehearsed strokes. I felt like I had finally given up when a friend of mine called me to ask for a ride home from a massage appointment he was finishing up at. I asked him about the therapist and he had a lot of good things to say about Holly. Skeptic as always, but still very open minded and willing to give it a chance I called and made my first appointment. From the moment I entered the clean, well-kept office I had positive feelings about it. Holly greeted me with her warm smile and an energetic, yet relaxing positive attitude. Right away you could tell she had an enthusiastic passion for her profession and was here because she enjoyed it and not just because it was her job. Much to my surprise after entering the massage room instead of the usual 60 second check list about prior massages/medical history she actually talked in great detail about what I wanted to get out of the session and what kinds of things were causing me trouble and pain and needed to be worked on. Her responses were incredibly intelligent, while not talking over my head or making up facts to sound more impressive, and was able to anticipate a lot of the problems I've been having based solely on my responses to her questions. The massage went great. Her pressure was firm, while not being painful and even better she was always amazingly consistent with it. Every muscle seemed to receive the same amount of pressure. Instead of just rehearsing a series of practiced moves on my back for an hour I felt as if she had tailored the massage specifically to my needs and attacked problems head on instead of simply massaging around until the session timer beeped so she could punch out her time card and go home. It was easy to see after the first session that Holly was a rare find in any profession, but as a massage therapist she truly goes above and beyond to help people who need it. Amazingly, the usual "couple hours of feeling better" had turned into several days. I don't have any serious medical conditions to the point that I severely need the massage, but I do have horrible posture and I've played guitar in a band for years now and over that time the task of wearing a 10 pound Les Paul over my shoulder every day has caused me a lot of shoulder and back pain. I have now been receiving massage from Holly consistently for a little over a month or so and in that time my posture has improved tremendously. I'm able to stand up straighter and my shoulders don't hunch forward nearly as much. I never ever leave a session feeling like she left something behind to work on next time to keep me coming back in. My mother, who had somewhat recently broken her arm and has been having serious tissue damage in her arm and shoulder from the accident, has also been seeing Holly on a regular basis now. She also has nothing but great things to say about her experiences as well and has found major improvement in her arm's mobility since working with Holly. Another issue I've had with other places I've gone to in the past is that many of them almost seem like they're trying to book me for my next seven appointments the moment I walk through the front door for the first. I have never felt like Holly is trying to pull a salesperson-like pitch on me just to get me to come back next time. She is serious about being there to help and not just out to make an extra buck off someone or sell you something extra that you don't need. Whether you're a first timer or experienced massage goer, just needing to relax or in serious need of good therapeutic massage; I seriously cannot recommend Holly enough. Her knowledge, skill and experience as well as her calm, caring and therapeutic demeanor will leave you hooked after your first session.

I've worked with T on my rotator cuff, and then after when I needed labrum and tenodesis surgeries. My surgeon gives credit to the work I did and also to T. She is extremely intuitive - she can touch my body and tell immediately where I am tight or need work. Her wrok is amazing, and I feel incredible when she is done. There is a spirituality to her work which leaves me with a centered and calm as well. I highly recommend T to anyone who is in pain or discomfort. She's operating out of her home in Santa Clara. Finding her place was easy- she also came to parking area to make sure I find the place. A few things that led to a meh experience- I have been to multiple places, including some who operate out of home, so naturally I'm comparing against those. This one felt weird. 1. The table is set up in the living room with one divider to cover shorter side (head) only, so the table is exposed in the longer side and quite open, with almost zero privacy. 2. Communication: I was expecting lymphatic massage but she suggested lymphatic is not good as it is very mild. Instead she would do a combination of lymphatic and will use pressure points. She kept pushing for it so I reluctantly agreed. During the massage she checked a couple of times about pressure, which was good. However the massage itself was just okay. Towards end of the massage she said her fingers hurt because she had to massage using fingers vs elbow. And she asked if I still wanted lymphatic but we are already at one hour at that point - that felt very off and weird. I declined because I didn't know if that would mean extra cost or not. It was also weird that she rolled her eyes as it to indicate it's a burden for her. The bed was warm but room was cold, with sofa and all open mess around. Overall it was pretty bad experience. It could be because she operated out of her home, but it was weird.

All have their own styles but there is something fundamentally lacking - they all typically take a one size fits all approach - working from the back down to the legs, then front for a bit and then wrap up. This is even with masseuses I've used many times - I'm guessing the massage establishments just train them that way. However, Karalyn combines massage with PT, really working problem areas and going hard at it. The result - you get the therapeutic benefits of the massage and the science of PT, which drives rapid recovery where you really need it. As only a rare and excellent massage can deliver, I ended light-headed and felt like jelly.
