I came with a large group of friends (12), and the waiter was attentive in seating us all together. We each ordered, and I got the Gogi Short Rib Tacos. The food came out at different times which was fine, but the waiter was calling the dishes by the wrong name such as the cauliflower taco when it was actually fish. This was a problem because my friend is vegetarian, and he gave her the fish. We also ordered poutine for the table that never came, but extra chicken tacos that we did not order were placed on the table because "someone ordered them". The waiter got frustrated with us when we didn't claim the food and called over another waitress to help. She asked, "Who ordered the Brirria taco?" No one did. And he told her we did because he "wrote their [our] orders word for word". Later, he came back and said the waitress misspoke and it was the gogi short rib tacos. The tacos were incredibly salty at first bite. Suuuuper overpriced at $20 for 3 mediocre tacos. Not much flavor other than salt. Very underwhelming and dry meat. My side of corn salad never came until I asked at the end of the meal. At the end of the night, we went up to pay individually. The waiter was speaking to another employee: "I wanted to close up early tonight, but I guess not" (alluding to our table. The restaurant closes at 11pm, and it was only 8pm. I understand serving can be really stressful and overwhelming at times, but the waiter was rude and blamed us for mistakes that weren't ours.) This spot has a mish-mosh of flavors and tastes, it is a "street food inspired" so you'll get burritos, chicken bowls, sandwiches, chicken wings mixed with Mexican, Korean and Vietnamese flavors. Not one specific kind. We ordered the Vietnamese street food of Bahn Mi, and a Street Corn with Chicken salad bowl. Both options were very flavorful. I figured I could order a drink while I wait for my food. Never got the drink. I think staff took on more than they could chew that night, and should've turned online ordering off. We had an amazing experience last night at Luna. We had an very long day and were looking for a place still open late and Luna was thankfully open. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Our sever and also the GM, Mel, went above and beyond in every way. She was super friendly and on top of everything. The menu was fantastic and the food was hot and delicious. My husband is a chef and can be hard to impress, but he was a happy camper. The menu looks incredible, but the food doesn't live up to its potential. The service was overwhelmed and disorganized, but kind. Overall a a meh experience but I definitely felt for the staff who were trying their best under the circumstances. CONS: We never received our appetizer, the meal that had a requested change came as it appeared on the menu, and it's hard to mess up mac and cheese but somehow they did. Our server seemed like he had WAY too much going on, and I felt bad for him honestly. I don't know, maybe it was an off day but it really set my father in law off (a boomer) and made the meal less than enjoyable--mainly due to his complaints. I've never had an especially positive experience ordering takeout from Luna over the past couple years, but nothing too bad, especially not compared to some of the horror stories I've heard from friends. I never dared sit down and eat there because of the terrible service stories I heard. I've loved their taco salad, so it kept me coming back for takeout every couple months. Until today. I started eating my salad, got a little ways into it, and mixed it around with my fork.... When suddenly a VERY LARGE MOTH emerged from it, completely drenched in chipotle aioli!!!!! I have received restaurant food before with tiny little gnats and even a fly in them, and have been relatively unfazed. This happens! But this absolute MONSTER of a bug not only got into my salad (while very very alive) but the chef then proceeded to pile toppings ON TOP of the moth!!! My order was ready around 6:25pm and I didn't sit down to eat it till 45 minutes later and this thing was still VERY. MUCH. ALIVE! How did no one notice?! The "food" was dreadful. Ordered a Cuban pulled pork platter expecting something decent, and what came out was a plate of lukewarm, unseasoned pork, yellow rice, and black beans that tasted like they had just come out of a can. I tried pouring some of the hot sauce provided on the table to compensate for the blandness, but that didn't even help because the hot sauce wasn't even hot! It just tasted like tomato juice! Like.. how are you going to charge me $15 for some microwaved food? Maybe Luna's used to be good at one point? Admittedly, I ate here just weeks before the Collegetown location shut down. I really enjoyed the variety of options on the menu. I got two tacos. One sweet potato and one chipotle. The sweet potato kale one was okay. The chipotle cauliflower one was very good and spicy. I was annoyed that you couldn't get two different tacos on the platter meal because why couldn't they do that? Ha ha. My husband got a gyro and has said the meat was a little weird. His fries were cold. But he said the sauces were all very tasty! Where do I start? Food menu is diverse and it looked good and the menu is diverse. The prices are a little steep but when we saw the quality of the 3 tacos- it made sense. The crab Mac and cheese did not. Service is absolutely HORRIBLE. There were at least 5 employees and they really struggle with customer service. We came in, waited a while to be acknowledged while the team was chatting behind the bar. We were sat and had a kind server. The manager yelled out that he was going to go have a cigarette life the whole restaurant to hear and this was just a small sign of how he was a douche. He did t speak to his staff kindly even before the debacle. We ordered and were told our order would take a while because they were finishing a large catering order. Fine- not a big deal. Our food came out and we were missing two items. The manager walked by and asked how our food was. I started to ask about our items and he was already walking away- he obviously didn't care about my answer or my question. While eating, an employee came out of the closet and the manager ran in. The manager ran out yelling, turn off all the fu@k!ng water, stop cooking, and stop everything. He yelled that no one could use the restroom for the rest of the day! It was loud!! He proceeded to yell to his staff and all of us that the sewage was backing up. They turned the music louder and didn't talk to the 2-3 groups that are listening to this. Nothing to address the situation with us and in a few minutes food was coming out of the kitchen again. We did, stop drinking the tap water that is served to everyone and worried about how our stomach would react to this meal. I couldn't get anyone attention after 5 people walked by so I stood up and went to the bar to ask for our missing two items and BBQ. The male server looked annoyed. I just wanted to be done. We asked for the check still not having received our side item.l with our tacos. I asked the server to remove them from our bill. She crossed off the side item and rang us up for the 3 tacos a La carte which was the same price as our 3 tacos + side. I had no problem paying the menu prices to include the service, food and ambiance. But we didn't get 2 out of 3. Place has potential but needs new management and a working restroom. No wonder they have positions open at this place. The manager does not know how to speak to his staff or run a restaurant. We really aren't picky but this by far the worst dining experience we had on our 16 day New England road trip. read more

With a name like Luna, I was really hoping to be over the moon about this place. Instead, I'm two stars short of a bad pun. I'd say one and a half, but this isn't some sort of newspaper column and Yelp doesn't do partial credit. Besides, I don't think this place is trying to reach that crowd. We're in college town, and at nearly 7pm, this place is bustling, with us being the last seated before the waiting list took effect. We were too tired to make a plan B, and I had been ranting about the idea of a pineapple serving dish since we had started planning the trip. I'd been there a few years back, and one of the members of our party had gotten it. And up until about half an hour prior, it had been the reason for visiting. I was going to get one of the obviously marked vegetarian options. We both flipped the menu over and taste buds synchronizing, pointed out the tacos. If you're looking to save money, you can do a platter deal, but beware, you'll be stuck with all one flavor. Our buds aren't totally in sync, so I opted for a single Baja fish taco at 4.99. Now I'm no mathematician, but that's about a buck twenty five a bite. It's not as big as their photos seem to let on, leaving us both looking for an asterisk with a note about being enlarged to show detail. Tacos aren't my area of expertise, but I feel like I should have been able to notice the protein more than I did. It's a decent taco, but not a "I just dropped five dollars on something filling and delicious" taco. My mate ordered two carnitas tacos. He noted there was an excess of cilantro (caution all soap tasting population, ask for it without) and the minimal pork was mushy, as if it had sat and been reheated. It was okay, but again, not something you'd brag about and reorder. I got the street corn bowl, which was a bit watery, and filled with what felt like a lot of green onion. If you're going to go, I suggest avoiding their taco truck and opt for something a bit more palatable. If you're going to face the rowdy crowd, at least make it worth it. Or just order for pickup, and hope the waitress doesn't drop it and just say "oops" like the tragedy we witnessed. Hope you just got fries girl, because at these prices, it's not worth paying for the broken mess of anything else. That being said, my other experience was fine, so choose your path wisely and you should be okay. read more

What a fabulous and healthy place to stop buy when you're visiting your child at college. A wide selection of nutritious and delicious items that will satisfy everyone in your family. I got the chicken shwarma salad that was chocked full of chicken on a bed of field greens. Pleasantly surprised there was no romaine or iceberg lettuce. My only suggestion is there was a little too much tahini. My wife got the taco salad and added chicken and was very pleased with it. We had plátanos machos. A bit on the burned side, but still tasty. They come with diced pineapple and onion. Chipotle Shrimp bowl was really tasty. Plenty of rice and beans. I suggest you order tortillas (they are freshly made) and do tacos with your bowl. Perhaps you will be breaking some rules on what's the right way to eat a bowl... But the taco will be fantastic. Ithaca is small, and I'm not a fan of throwing restaurants under the bus considering I grew up in the hospitality industry. But I feel like Luna is misrepresenting themselves on Grubhub/Seamless, and I want to point this out so others aren't fooled twice like we were. Grubhub/Seamless states the turnaround time for delivery is 45 minutes. Unfortunately this just isn't true. It has taken 2.5 hours+ just for an order of six measly tacos. I called the restaurant and was told, "your order is next up! It will be about 20 minutes." Clearly a fib, as Grubhub informed me that my order was delivered to the wrong address (see attached). Did anyone update the tracking info in the app? No. Did anyone take any semblance of responsibility for this mistake? Also no. So now here I am at 8:30PM with no dinner and two hungry screaming children. Absolutely unacceptable. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. Do you know what I was told? That they didn't have a manager available to speak with--at 7PM on a Friday night. Anyways my order was cancelled and I will never frequent this establishment ever again. I ventured to a wee place called Ithaca College Town and was impressed with the untouched nature and young coeds. Then i got hungry. I decided to try food and that food was Luna Inspired Street Food. The three friends i dined with were of hispanic decent. I'm only mentioning this because the menu had a distinctive Mexican/Cuban flair. The usage of masks and steps taken for social distancing were a real comfort. I got the sangria in a mug and the Cuban Street plate. The Sangria was ok but i have had more delicious experiences. I count this as a missed opportunity. The Cuban Street Plate was a great choice. The portion was large and it was big on flavor. I felt the meal would have came alive with a selection of hot sauces/salsas available. The Mango salsa that came with Street Plate was delicious and a great addidtion.
