Deeply disappointing experience this morning. We were passing through Ithaca and placed a takeout order before a time-sensitive appointment. The woman at the front (manager or owner) quoted us 15-20 minutes. At the 30-minute mark, I asked for an update and was told -- curtly, without eye contact -- that she had said 30 minutes. She walked away mid-sentence. The food finally came at nearly 40 minutes. Two omelets and a waffle. When she handed us the order, she informed us there were no utensils available -- no apology, no offer of an alternative -- just the boxes in a plastic bag. We had ordered takeout specifically to eat in the car. Eating omelets without utensils is not something a customer should have to figure out on their own. The wait and the missing utensils were frustrating, but what genuinely upset us was her attitude throughout: dismissive, impatient, and unwilling to engage with us as customers. In 20 years of dining out across this country, I've rarely felt so unwelcome. We had planned to return to Ithaca. After this, we'll be skipping the restaurants entirely. read more

Old school tavern with a real neighborhood vibe. We were some of the youngest in the house which probably says a lot about the age of the folks living in the area. This was the perfect way to end a holiday weekend, lots of pancakes, waffles, country breakfasts, bacon, & hashbrown orders. Everyone was stuffed by the end of our meal and I even got to save my chocolate chip muffins for the drive back home. I thought I was making a mistake by saving the pancakes, but these pancakes lasted from brunch until our mid-drive snack a few hours later. Stopped here after going to a concert and camping at the Trumansburg fairground. This was right down the street and was a great option. I'm not sure why the reviews weren't better. We were able to sit wherever we wanted, service was fast, fantastic, and friendly, and the place was relatively crowded, but not overly crowded. The food was served extremely quickly. It was a great experience and really cutely decorated. I ordered a slice of French toast with real maple syrup which they served a generous amount of and their homemade corned beef hash. It was really good, though the corned beef hash was pretty greasy. My partner got eggs, bacon, hash browns, and homemade toast which he enjoyed, I definitely liked their hash browns! Bathrooms were clean. Really great service! I recommend it for breakfast, never went for another meal. read more

Stopped by during a road trip around Cayuga Lake. I had the Tully Burger with fries and I thought it was great! I wasn't expecting much but it wasn't overwhelmingly oily and the veggies were fresh (Tully Burger is cheeseburger with mayo and the usual works); great prices across the board for sure This spot is serving indoors during Covid - it seemed a bit daunting to go in, because it is not outdoor seating, but the servers are wearing masks and the tables are clean, fairly far apart. I really loved this restaurant. I ordered eggs, ham, and toast. And while I didn't get what I ordered it was all fantastic anyways. I ended up with eggs, potatoes, and toast. The bread was easily the best part, it was thick sliced home made bread that I can only imagine would taste wonderful in a french toast. The decor of the place was rustic/cozy without the "fake" farmhouse feel. The staff was all very friendly. Would recommend, and would have gave 5 stars if my order was correct. read more

We stopped in for breakfast on our way to visit Treman State Park. The food was homemade and met our needs but wasn't anything beyond that. I was ecstatic at the low prices, the most realistic I've seen for tavern food... But it came at the price of quality. The chicken fingers and fries were very bland. There were no sauces offered and the fries weren't salted. All I tasted was black pepper on the chicken. The grilled cheese was sort of rubbery. It looked like they had a bread-sized block of cheese and sliced off a 1/4in slice and put that on the bread, but it was only half melted. But again, only a couple dollars and was buttery for flavor. It's an easy place to take kids, but I'd be embarrassed to go there on a date. read more

This time around, I was not pleased with my order, and the service was abysmal. My wife and I visited this place on two other occasions, and we enjoyed our breakfast, but not this time. I never heard of spinach and fetta cheese omelet with the filling completely raw and uncooked (raw spinach leaves, unmelted fetta, and uncooked tomatoes), but that's what I was served. When I brought it to the server's attention, she pointed out that for some reason, I personally did not specifically ask for an omelet that had cooked filling, as if it was my fault. As she proceeded to the kitchen, all three of us could plainly hear her complaining to her colleague about how I messed up my order. This same rant continued as my wife proceeded to the lady's room near the kitchen. She could plainly hear the server continue her diatribe. Finally, after receiving a replacement order to go and check, the server continued to lecture me on ordering an omelet at her restaurant so that I would get it right the next time around. I had the small harvest salad with grilled chicken and my husband had fish and chips (which were fresh cut fries) you could tell everything was made from scratch or cooked fresh (no frozen pre-breaded fish here) the beets in the salad were some of the best and I could tell they were homemade along with the dressing. Had a classic American diner breakfast here, they have all the basics available on the menu. Service was warm, friendly, and quick. Meal was very affordable and we left quite full. I loved the omelette but couldn't finish it as I got too full, but I couldn't leave behind a single piece of the homemade white bread (so good reminded me of my Grandma's). Stopping here for lunch, we had such high hopes. Both my husband and I had the open faced turkey with melted cheese and whole cranberry sauce. The turkey was tender and flavorful. The cranberry sauce added just the right amount of tartness. When I saw the Homemade Desert sign, I couldn't resist. I ordered Coconut Custard pie but the waitress returned to tell us that they were out of it, and the custard pie. I ordered the Boston Cream pie. Unfortunately, it was awful. The cake was dry and tasted days old. The custard amount was minuscule. The chocolate topping was a hard dry frosting. I picked at the custard and left the desert uneaten, a very bad ending to a good lunch. I doubt we'd return there. Sad. read more

This is a wonderful local family spot that is easy to go to with kids or groups of any size. I come here alone for a quick meal or with family to sit and catch up. If you are expecting urban-style, fast-paced, slick service and presentation, then turn around. It is comfort food, made for the majority of taste buds and not meant to aspire towards Michelin star ratings. Don't be a snob and complain about this place. We went there for the first time for lunch a few weeks back and were impressed by the variety of the menu. My wife had sausage and peppers on a roll. I had a great turkey club melt on a croissant. The decor and roominess of the restaurant really adds to the enjoyment of the food. We spoke to the waitperson for a long time, asked her about their dinners, and she came back with the dinner menu which also had a vast array of dishes. One of the things we liked about it is that it's in an area, Trumansburg, where there aren't many places to dine, so now it has become a destination restaurant. Also, in an area (Ithaca and Tompkins County) that caters mostly to parties of only 2 to 4 people (most Ithaca restaurants are small and do not have seating for large groups, unlike the many restaurants from the old days that have now closed), this restaurant was an exception featuring very large tables capable of seating 8 to 10 people. We often go out to dinner with a bunch of people. It has become so difficult to find restaurants that have adequate seating (they usually seat us with two tables pushed together and someone always gets stuck sitting at an uneven spot where the two tables meet) that the Falls Restaurant is a welcome sight. We will go back for dinner with our party of eight. read more

First off I just want to preface with the fact that I'm not a person who likes to bad mouth businesses. I just had lunch at this place about an hour ago. The food simply wasn't good. My service was really bad. Let me just say that I'm a person of color and I felt extremely uncomfortable during this whole visit. I asked for an ice water with coffee to start, they brought me the tiniest glass of water. Every other table had normal sized glasses. After I ordered no one ever came back to check to refill my coffee until I got my food. It took 45 minutes for me to even get a burger and fries. On top of that they charged me 2x for the coffee and an extra for the fries. Total cost was $16 for a cheeseburger, fries, water and coffee. This was by far the worst $16 I've ever spent on food. Not to mention, I'm a so not being attended to like everyone else is also really upsetting. Never again. read more

I like this place. It serves the best breakfast in town by far. One reviewer was moaning about not getting vegetables for your children at this place, it's a diner stroke basic food joint. If you want some nature reserve granola vegan eatery then go somewhere else to down town old volvo Ithaca and eat as much rabbit food as you like. It has a decent quiet atmosphere and the service is good. When I go there it's either for breakfast or for a treat, like burger and fries and it's a decent meal for not much money. The coffee flows freely and the staff are friendly. The first time I went there was for breakfast and it came out so fast I was very surprised. The bread there is GORGEOUS and the eggs, bacon and sausage meat too. A lot better service than another local restaurant I have reviewed and will be going there this Sunday with my family to hopefully enjoy another bit of decent food at a good price. read more

I have been going to the Falls for years. Breakfast is always great, although I am not a fan of Bun-O-Matic coffee. There is usually a nice fresh baked breakfast option like muffins or cinnamon buns. I always recommend choosing lunch or dinner from the specials board. I like the blue plate dinner specials. The Falls does a great Irish dinner on St. Patricks Day and a regular fish fry that is very tasty. Desserts are plentiful. Any pie, a la mode, is a good choice. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is appropriate for the country diner that it is. Home cooking at its best. read more

Typical Ma and Pa place in the small town. Seating yourself was awkward, service was slower than expected. Servers were friendly and delightful. Food was average and comparable to a diner.
