BLUF: Customer service sucked from whom I'm guessing is the owner. Easy to work with? Ummm, not so much and left me feeling really uncomfortable. Would I return? Nope. Worth the drive? Nope. Really awful first impression. Seems like this is a highly micromanaged business by a judgemental owner who would rather turn away customers rather than help them. Seemed like he preferred to appear to others like the all around good guy, but humiliate others for the sake of looking good. Harsh treatment of staff trying to make them look bad in front of customers. Didn't listen well to customers or staff. For all those who know what these red flags mean, you may want to go elsewhere to avoid encounters with this person. They made my mom wait 38 minutes to get her toenails done!!! she is 84 years old. No one helped her into the chair. It was ridiculous.

The next day, the polish starts to come out on the edges of my nails, and if you look around the cuticles - area was not cleaned and polish is not neat around them. For $93 plus tip, I'd expect better quality service and communication with nails that last more than one day. read more

Sure, this was a clean salon but the service I received was disappointing especially after being charged for an extra service that did not deliver. I really wanted to patronize this place but it was a total letdown. O I am pretty sure they are capable of a better or at least adequate service but it was not for me today. I gave this place another chance on a less busy day and my experience was 180 degree different than before. I felt less rushed and loved the way my nails and pedicure turned out and have been visiting this place on schedule for all my mani, pedi, and spa service needs since. Both my daughters love it too! I've visited a lot of different salons in Loudoun county since moving here 2 years ago and none of them have done my SNS dip powder quite as well as Luna!!! I have now found my go to nail shop. This shop has lots of color choices in polish, gel, and dip powders. Also in the wake of this pandemic, the shop owner gives his patrons masks and sanitizer. How awesomely kind is that!! The staff is also very nice and attentive as well. They always offer beverages and make you feel really comfortable and taken care of. read more

This place deserves 0 stars. They always quote one price when I check in and then another price (always higher) when I sit down to get my nails done. I showed the nail tech a picture of what I wanted and she wasn't able to do the design. So I asked about 10% of the way through if we can just change it to a single color and she said no. Overall something is off about this place. When other customers come in, they get offered coffee, water, tea, etc. When I go in they try to get me in and out ASAP. Not sure if it's because of my age or ethnicity. Either way I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever. read more

I recently had an appointment at Luna Nails Salon and Spa for myself and my 6-year-old daughter, who was so excited to get her nails painted. When we arrived, I let her pick whatever color she wanted, and she chose an OPI color. Unfortunately, Kevin, one of the employees, came over and rudely told her to put the polish back, saying it was too expensive, and we couldn't use it since I had ordered a regular polish. He literally said you cant pay more bucks . Terrible service and I plan to bever go back here nor ask my friends to visit this place This interaction happened in front of several people, and my daughter was embarrassed and hurt by the way she was spoken to. We came to other Salon right away abd so happy to be greeted with respect. If i wanted I would've created a scene over there but I am not a person like Kevin nor I have issues paying 30 bucks for any nail color. As a regular customer, I was extremely disappointed by this experience. I expect better service, especially from someone who isn't even the owner. So glad I'm back home to my favorite nail salon! Having gone a few times years ago, a nail tech I loved at another nail salon in Sterling left and I decided to come back to Luna which is closer to my home. So glad I returned! The Manager is so friendly including the staff. Salon is clean, organized, and they offer you an array of drinks with your services which is an added bonus! I received a pedi and definitely will be returning as this is my new go to nail salon! Seriously one of the worst nail places I have ever been to. My technician Anna was more interested in talking to the lady next to her than painting my nails. I had to point out where they didn't remove my old polish and even after doing so, it wasn't completely removed. The polish I picked was old but they said they could "work with it" for my toes. The tech had no order of painting nails and chose various ones repeatedly while leaving others, getting a ton of paint on my skin. She spilled acetone on me and my leggings multiple times. First and last time I'll ever come here. I was here today and made an appointment for 4:45 to get a pedicure and acrylic nails. My nail tech Daniel was clearly exhausted and rushing (he told me at the end of the appointment he hasn't eaten all day cause he never got a break) during the pedicure he cut the side of toe with the callus remover tool. He obviously felt bad and was trying to hide it and kept telling me to put my foot back in the water. My foot was bleeding a lot to the point it was dripping down my toe and he put the salt scrub directly onto the cut which I made him immediately take off because 1 it burned and 2 it can lead to infection he apologized got up got an antiseptic to clean it and then not even five minutes later while my toe is still bleeding tried to put both of my feet in the paraffin wax bags which I had to tell him multiple times no. I understand mistakes happen I was very kind and told him not to worry it's okay just please continue without touching/putting anything on that toe. He finishes the polish and then pours acetone directly onto the cut which hurt incredibly and I had to remind him again of the cut and please stop. He then went to do my acrylics which he was rushing through because it took him maybe 25 minutes. They are incredibly thick because he didn't shave them down other than for maybe 1 minute. If I wasn't so exhausted myself I would've talked to a manager then because there is no reason I should've paid full price for both services after the quality was the worst I've ever experienced from any nail salon but I just wanted to pay and go home. I couldn't even enjoy the pedicure because all I could feel was the pain from the cut. read more

Techs need more training, first time I was cut pretty bad with nail file, tech claimed it was a new file, saw different tech next and color was off and went back to address issue and Kevin told me to try the gel and it would last 3-4 weeks, but after $$$, less than 24 hours later it started chipping off. I've been here twice since moving to the area. I loved my nails both times. I got the gel manicure for $40 (which I still feel is somewhat overpriced) but I guess that's just the area we live in. I have done SNS at about a dozen places in northern Virginia, and this is definitely one of my top 3 places! Selina did my nails and was very sweet. She nailed (pun intended) my nail art inspired from Pinterest, shaped them just how I wanted them and was very patient in the whole process. Then afterwards, Hanna did my wax - so fresh and so clean clean. They were a little short staffed so the owner of the salon (Kevin, I think?) kept the ladies rolling. But he finished off my gel top coat AND informed me that they serve wine AND brought me a glass even though I was almost done with my service! I knew a gel manicure would last while I was on vacation for two weeks. I took a photo after I got my gel manicure on Nov. 28, another photo about 3 weeks later and the final photo was taken today - a full MONTH after my appointment :) I had Tammy as my nail technician and as you can see, the manicure has lasted for a full MONTH!! She did a fabulous job!! While away on vacation, I swam in the ocean, went kayaking, went on multiple excursions, so my nails were put to the test!! My nails literally don't break and can keep growing and growing if I don't get them re-done. It's awesome. Also, I get my eyebrows waxed here. New to the area looking for new salon. I always say, if you find a nail place you like stick to it. And every single time, I fail to follow my own guidance. Of course, yet another business that puts on a facade of prioritizing health and safety. Your temperature is checked at the door, they ask you to wash your hands then pick a polish. However, what I'm finding more and more common is the inability to enforce wearing your mask correctly. Out of about 10 customers in that salon, you had 2 morons wear it as chin and mouth guards. Now I understand how enforcing this type of rule can become hostile but it NEEDS to be done. Guys, it's temporary, deal with it. And if you cannot wear your mask correctly, stay home. And businesses, if you are unable to enforce this, stay closed. Finally, when I left the $32 regular polish pedicure somehow turned into $40. Apparently the "callus removal" is $8 extra, which is INSANE to me. Absolutely insane. Of course they don't tell you lol why would they? Now I understand why they force you to take the menu of services. All I asked for was a regular pedicure I didn't need to see the menu but she forced me to take it. Then when she asked if I wanted the calus remover, I said yes. At the end when I questioned it, she said "I gave you the menu, it's in the menu." THAT is why they force you to look at it. So when they sneak extra charges into your bill, you can't deny never seeing it. For those reasons, I won't return. However the pedicure was pretty good. read more

I have been going to Luna on and off for a few years now. I never thought they lived up to their rates, though the boujee service and atmosphere is nice. I decided to take the plunge and go back after a bad experience steered me away for 6 months. Let's just say I won't be returning and it was not worth the almost hour drive nor my money since I'm now getting my nails frantically fixed a week earlier than scheduled. Not only was the gel polish applied so thinly that my dark colored nails were almost clear in the light, but most of my nails peeled off before the first week was over. I get a new set monthly and fills every two weeks on the dot. I've never had a salon with such inconsistent quality in their nails.
