This place is across from the Home Depot and near the Dollar Store which is a bit misleading because when inside you are in an upscale environment. I mean the bathrooms in this place are like 50% copper! The food is a bit pricey but very good and the menu extensive. The service is friendly and quick but not intrusive. If this were a "standalone" restaurant, it would be better served. Mushu pork with pancake, Hunan Chicken, General Tsao's Chicken and all appetizers are good. We have been going to Lung Yung since moving to Succasunna in 2006. They have always been hit or miss when it comes to taste and quality. You can order the same meal 5x's and it is different each time, not consistent at all. You can also expect that 30% of the time your order won't be correct. They have actually called us twice in the past and asked us to bring the order back because they put too much food in our order, but god forbid you call them and tell them your missing food. We continued to go back because they are about 2 minutes away and convenient. This weekend 7/18/20 we had just arrived home from a family vacation and there was nothing to eat in the house. We placed an order to go from Lung Yung. The order consisted of 4 egg rolls, fried rice, sesame chicken and steamed chicken. The egg rolls didn't taste right, like rancid cooking oil. The sesame chicken tasted funky and the broccoli was a yellowish brown color. Most of the food ended up going in the trash because it just tasted bad. Well the four of us all ended up having a bad stomach pains and nausea all night long. My two sons were trading places in the bathroom for a couple of hours. I reached out to Lung Yung to advise them as to what had happened. The woman on the phone was pretty rude about the situation. She refused to apologize. She then told me to hold on, put me on hold for 5 minutes then hung up. We will definitely not be returning to Lung Yung ever again. read more

These days, I am giving food places just one shot to make me a repeat customer. This place didn't do it. I am new to the neighborhood, but I am not new to eating. I have been doing it for awhile. Wife and I came in the other night to grab some grub to bring home to eat. She ordered a combo plate, and I ordered a chicken dish to share with my daughter. Got home, looked at the food, and shook my head in disappointment. In any normal Asian takeout restaurant, a $13 chicken dish, which comes with rice, can be shared by 2-3 people. This was barely enough for 1. My daughter asked me if I got anything for myself, and she wasn't joking. It was 20% cubed overly fried chicken in an orange muck. The other 80% was broccoli, sauce, and air. This place got 2.5 stars because my wife's dish was ok ....though the egg roll was so small, I needed tweezers to pick it up. Otherwise, if it was based on my dish alone, it would be a one star review. I may possibly give this another shot after I try every other place in a 20 mile radius...but for now, this is not worth coming back for. We come here very often. My family and I are huge sushi addicts and this is our go to spot in the area. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. The salmon lovers roll and 007 are two of my favorite rolls. The brown rice isn't great which is normally what I get with my sushi at restaurants. Chinese food is also good, a little pricey and doesn't come with soup. Only down side is they have one person making the sushi so if there are people in front of you that ordered a lot you could be waiting awhile. ... BYOB! read more

I actually really like this place. The restaurant is nice, modern, and clean. I used to order takeout from here when I worked in the area. The food is good but I can't say that it's consistent. Never had really bad food, but sometimes things are just different. The first time I ordered takeout from here, I got white rice which was a little sticky and a little sweet (it was soooo good). The next time I ordered takeout, I excitingly ordered white rice again and they gave me fried rice by accident. I was upset at first but then tasted the fried rice which was absolutely delicious!! The third time I ordered takeout from here, I ordered white rice... and it was really wet and mushy (not good). The spring roll is nothing special. The general tso's is very tasty. The california roll is ok. I also tried their pad see ew and it was just ok. My husband did enjoy their chow fun though. This was the worst experience I have had in a restaurant. Overall, the food was bad and the service was worse. They have thai food on the menu, my son ordered pad thai, it was terrible. There were a ton of cooked onions in it like what you would put on hot dogs. With our main entree we asked for brown instead of white rice...that came out at the end of the meal as well as the sushi. My advice for if you plan on eating here: order takeout It's frustrating trying to eat there in the restaurant. When you have to get up to ask your server more than once for something because they're never around, that's a serious problem to me. Best Asian food in the area! We drive from 30 minutes away and past numerous other restaurants to go to Lung Yung. Their chicken & broccoli is amazing! Moist & tender chicken that you can cut with a fork and more chicken than broccoli, unlike other places where there is a ton of broccoli and hardly any chicken. The Thai spring rolls are fresh and crispy without being greasy like many places. Wait staff is efficient and pleasant. All around good experience for both eat in and take out. read more

Lung YUng had recently reopened when I moved near by. I am pleasantly surprised by the menu as it has sushi, japanese, chinese and korean dishes. There is even a hint of Thai food. I can't comment on what the place was like before but since it reopened I am a fan. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is great and is a reasonable rice. The decor is nice, dark colors and soft lighting. The sushi bar is visible but not a main focus. I have been several times with and without children and am very happy with the service. My only complaint is that if you order soda, it comes by the can (with a glass of ice). You also pay by the can. Otherwise this is a great medium range place. It definately a set above the take out my husband usually tries to get me to eat and its a nice place to go have a meal as well. read more

Great food! This place recently renovated, making the interior a step above your usual expectation for affordable Chinese food. With the renovation, they added a whole new dimension of Asian cuisines to their menu with sushi and Thai offerings. The Thai food, in particular, is good and the Chinese food remains fresh and tasty. We haven't tried the sushi. The only downside here is excessively solicitous service. I mean excessively. Lung Yung in name only. Once upon a time this was the best Chinese restaurant in Roxbury but that was many years ago. I recently had the opportunity to go back and was so disappointed. First of all I don't know what type of place this is, Chinese, Japanese, Thai? I went Chinese and ordered some old standbys; Chicken and Broccoli, WonTon Soup, LoMein. The Chicken and Broccoli was swimming in oil and tasteless. The LoMein was dry and looked like it was prepared with a blowtorch. The soup was gross as the broth was greasy and had a foul smell. All of this combined with high prices and small portion sizes made it an awesome experience. I guess you can never go back. read more

I have been going to Lung Yung for many years. The Chinese food and the Sushi are of very good quality. The food is fresh and tasty. My issue with Lung Yung is that they are providing less quantity of what you actually order vs vegetables. If you order the Sesame Chicken, the size of the container is the normal size, but over half of the food is huge chunks of broccoli with a lesser amount of the Sesame Chicken that I actually ordered. Same thing with something such as an everything fried rice. The container is still a quart sized container but there are very few pieces of chicken, beef, and roast pork. Basically they are now skimping on the high cost proteins and replacing them with lower cost vegetables. read more

We have eaten here mainly times in the past, thru all the changes, but have not been here for a long time. It is completely renovated from the last time we were there and it very nice. Very large menu of chinese, thai food and sushi. For the 2 of us we shared steamed dumplings, happy family and thai fried rice. The 2 main dishes were very good, the dumpling were the normal fare. My only complaint was they charged $1,50 for a very small pot of chinese tea.You have to ask for a knife and extra napkins. No salt or papper on the table or sugar only soy sauce. Service was very good and all the personnel were very pleasant. Service was very quick but we were there early on a Saturday and there were very few other customers. They had quite a few take out orders while we were there. As of this writing you can take 20% off Tues, Wed, Thursday. We will be eating there again. read more

Tonight I waited about 40 minutes for a simple order. Soup and beef meifun. Kept telling me it's coming. 2 minutes. Promise. Been coming here for years. It's a 1/2 step up from china king or Yummy taste, nearby chinese fast food joints. Portions are skimpy (i.e. $6.95 for 6 small pan fried dumplings; about $10 for a chicken & broccoli that is almost all broccoli). They give you one "quart" of rice for up to 3 entrees. Have been here 3 times, and every single time I've gotten a great meal. My only gripe is that I wish they'd expand the menu! This place has Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine. I'm a big fan of Japanese hibachi and other meat dishes, but they don't do that. All they do is Sushi or Sashimi, or shrimp dishes, which I don't like as I don't eat seafood. So I'm limited to the Chinese or Thai menus. But anything I've ever ordered off either menu has always been very fresh and very tasty. read more

Our family loves sushi, we have it almost once a week. Recently we discovered Lung Yung Restaurant in the Roxbury Mall and the sushi is hands down our favorite. Sushi rolls are half price every day except Friday and Saturday, making it an incredible deal. The restaurant is a bit dark and out of the way so it is generally quiet but it deserves to be crowded every day of the week due to the quality of their sushi. read more

They now serve Asian- not just Chinese. Thai, Japanese, Chines, Japanese. Its very clean - dishes are prepared with care. Very courteous staff. I cant emphasize what a turn around has occurred here. Everything was delish. My only complaint was that the portions were not as big as if we got it from other local chinese places. Everything was gone. With ordering that much we usually have a couple meals of leftovers. Also, I feel that their prices were higher than other places.
