Was seated at a table, a waiter brought food, I asked for a tea, he acted bothered and I never got it. Asked another waitress for a tea, and a taco, never got it. Chicken tacos al carbon were dripping with grease, a soggy mess. Wait staff never came back. Had to flag a manager down for a drink, get the food redone and good luck with chips much less salsa. Whenever I'm in Houston, a stop at my favorite place, Lupe Tortilla, is a must! I knew exactly what I wanted as soon as I arrived, the perfect margarita on the rocks. I typically skip anything around the rim. For my meal, I opted for the half pound of beef fajitas, which were absolutely delicious. I always ask for extra sour cream, it's my go to, and the flour tortillas are massive but so good that I can't help but indulge. I also tried the smoked chipotle ribs; they were fantastic, though I definitely bit off more than I could chew! They start you off with warm tortillas and their amazing salsa, which is a highlight of every visit. I decided to sit at the bar since I was dining solo, and the bartender was phenomenal, so friendly and attentive. I only wish I had more time to come back for another meal during my visit. Everything was delicious but a bit expensive - the tableside guac is $13 or so (not terrible, you're basically paying for the experience) and 1 lb. of beef fajitas was like $60, which I thought was pretty expensive, though it does some with all the sides (tomatoes, sour cream, guac, etc.) Waitstaff was excellent as well - I'm unfortunately forgetting our waiter's name but he checked on us frequently and gave us frequent water and soda refills. We went this evening to Lupe tortilla for my niece's 18th birthday party. There were 25 people in attendance for this party and we were there on a busy Saturday evening. When we arrived, the staff was quick to set up a space for our group, and I was absolutely amazed at how quickly they took our drink order, food order, and waited on our very large group. Suzy, was our waitress and she did an absolutely phenomenal job. She took every bit of our drink orders and food orders without writing a single item down and was impeccable with her service and attentiveness to our group. She might be one of the best waitresses I've ever received service from. I forgot to take a picture of the beef fajitas that I had but they were amazing. If you've lived in Atlanta, you'll know how good the queso dip is at Wiley's( that's what I'm missing after moving away). The queso here was very flavorful, kinda reminds me of the Wiley's queso dip. The table side guac was also decent, nothing to write home about. Their grilled steak plate came pretty fast. The steak was cooked to medium, and it was covered in cheese with a layer of salsa. I came to this location on Sunday night 4/27. We were a party of 4. I picked this location over the woodlands location that evening because I feel like the food is always better at this location. The food was not the problem. We got the worst service I have ever received at any restaurant that I can remember. Our waitress ( an Asian lady ) was so rude and inattentive. I brought my best friend there for her last night in Texas as she was heading home to Alaska the next day and she wanted good Mexican food. I even told the waitress this when we first met her. She obviously did not care to give my friend a good experience. We were extremely friendly to her even after she repeatedly ignored us. It took almost 3 hours total for the whole dinner. We waited around forever for everything she would just come drop our drinks off and I would start asking if we could order appetizers and she would just literally walk off! The same thing with dinner and another round of drinks. I've never had such a difficult time trying to order! And it's not like this is a cheap place to eat and drink at. I have never had an experience like this and never want to again. We had to keep trying to find her to try and even order anything and when she would walk by she would completely ignore us most of the time and was not friendly in the slightest. Then when it came time for the bill it took over 35 mins after we asked we finally had to go ask the hostess to run our cards. I am not sure if yall were understaffed that night, it didn't appear so and the restaurant was not busy... First time here, I came after work to place an order for carry out for my wife's birthday dinner, to feed four people. We ordered 4 entrees and 2 appetizers. The appetizers were Queso Flameado and Shrimp and Avocado Campechana. The queso was like solid latex rubber, the shrimp and avocado was rancid and inedible as was the tortilla soup. My co-workers and I stopped by Thursday afternoon for some happy hour (my first time for happy hour) as I've been for lunch. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a food menu for happy hour but my disappointment was short lived because the bar tender was super friendly and she was attentive (it wasn't busy at the bar) and I appreciated that when I asked her if she could make an Old-fashioned, she was honest telling me she didn't but another person could (which was fine) and when asked about the right kind of ice she said no it's regular ice- I opted out of ordering one but very thankful she was honest. Once we were moved to our table next to the bar our waiter was AWESOME!! He was bubbly and truly engaged with us the entire time and made us feel welcomed and not like another dollar in terms of tip. Came here with my youngest daughter for dinner after a softball tournament. It was a Friday Night so was concerned about too long of a wait so used the wait list checkin on their website via Yelp. Was able to get a table right away when we walked in. We were immediately welcomed by the wait staff and Tim the Managing Partner. I always appreciate it when I see owners active at their establishments. He asked if it was our first time there which it was and asked if we knew what we were looking to eat. We are from Northern California so there is no such thing as Puffy Taco anywhere to be seen in that area but had seen them on cooking shows so knew that was what I wanted. The restaurant has its own parking lot which is fairly huge along with an indoor seating area, bar, and huge outdoor eating area complete with fire pits. The bar had tvs playing the baseball pennant games and the decor had a good vibe which contributed to the cantina feel. It was also kind of nice that they had their own security patrol in the parking lot to watch over the lot. We ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer along with two orders of puffy tacos which came with ground beef. After we had ordered Tim had the manager bring over some bite size tacos with beef fajitas for us to try. They were so good that I wished I had gotten those for my puffy tacos but didn't see it as an option. Tim came to see what we thought of the beef fajitas and told us that you can ask for any of the meats in your tacos. The part I liked the most was how he said he knew we would like it and had confidence in his cook staff to deliver what he knew would taste great. Pro tip, get the beef fajitas, don't be cheap, get the beef fajitas you will not regret it. The meat just melts in your mouth with great flavor. The chicken nachos were pretty good and enough for two people to share while you wait for your main meal and have some cerveza. The puffy tacos with the ground beef were good and came loaded with lettuce, cheese and tomatoes with a little guacamole inside. The Spanish rice had good flavor and the frijoles were tasty with a slight taste of bacon in them. While you are there, go all in and have a Draft Dos Equis. We sat in the bar area and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The nachos came out in about 10 minutes or so. Their house chips were very good and are served with salsa and beans. The salsa did remind though of the salsa from Chevys. The puffy tacos then came out about 10-15 minutes after we received the nachos. The puffy tacos were made from fresh flour tortillas briefly fried in some oil to make them warm, puffy and a little crispy. They were not overdone with oil and had a nice texture. Later, Tim brought over a beef fajitas puffy taco because he didn't want me to leave without getting a chance to try it. It was so good, that would hands down be my order next time. We visit Lupe tortilla once weekly and usually for brunch on Saturday or Sunday. We normally go to the 249 and Spring Cypress location, but occasionally visit this location. My husband and I order our usual which is the fajita scramble. When they brought our food, it didn't look like it usually looks. We tasted it and I told my husband this isn't what we normally get. He called the waitress over who then called her manager Shawanda. Shawanda offered to give us extra sauce and told us that it was the correct plate. It wasn't, and I didn't eat my food. Service is always the best when we request our favorite waitress Susie at this location. The problem is the hostesses. Whenever we ask for her they always say she's too busy. But then they eventually will accommodate our party, after we insist that we want her. But it's almost like they don't like her. We tip her very well and love the personal service she gives us. This was my first time at this location. They have plenty of free parking. When I entered the hostess immediately greeted me and was very friendly. It is smaller than some of the other locations I've been to. We were able to be seated immediately. Our waitress began by sharing the specials and of course offered those. She also brought out salsa and their famous charro beans with chips. I don't know what they do to their beans but they are always flavored well. Being an inner-looper, we frequently meet here with our friends from the Woodlands. It's kind of half-way. Instead of just hot sauce and chips, here you are served comp. charro beans upon seating. Usually each table gets one cup, but we ask for four cups, one each, and they have always complied. My favorite dish is the Poblano Chicken... a large mild poblano pepper stuffed with chicken and roasted, covered with melted cheese. If I don't get that, I order the "choose two ", where you pick two entrees out of a choice of six or so, it's a make your own plate with rice and beans. And, they have "puffy" tacos, yum! The margaritas are served just right, with an option to order by the glass or pitcher. If I have already eaten Mexican food a few days beforehand, they allow a substitute of a nice salad with avocado for a small charge, in lieu of the rice and beans.
