My friends and I visited on a Friday around 4:30pm. We walked right in and were seated immediately as they were not busy just yet. The restaurant is pretty large with a mix of warm lighting and natural light depending on where you're sitting. It seems as though they may be renovating in certain spots of the restaurant the time we visited. Our waiter Dave was friendly, attentive, informative, and efficient. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. We took advantage of their happy hour for drinks. We each had a Cadillac margarita which was pretty good. My friend and I chose the Marisco bowl. I chose the meat combo of chicken/steak and she chose the chicken Marisco bowl. My other friend had the chicken quesadillas. The food was fresh, but in my opinion lacked flavor. I loved the prices of Gringos, but did not like my dish as much. My friends enjoyed their meals. As the night went on the restaurant became full. They have complimentary ice cream and cones for dessert that patrons get themselves. When we attempted to partake, the cones were gone and the station was messy from patrons not cleaning up after themselves. I would return to this location again and try a different dish. Last week, I took a little road trip with two of my grands and a friend to The Woodlands for a Trader Joe's run, and then headed over to Spring for lunch at Gringo's Mexican Kitchen. What a treat! The chips and their famous green sauce were definitely a hit with everyone at the table. The salsa was a bit too sweet for my taste, but the others really enjoyed it. For our entrees, three of us ordered the Pastor Bowl--and let me tell you, it was fabulous! It comes loaded with marinated pork al pastor, cilantro lime rice (I swapped the rice for sautéed veggies), black beans, pineapple, pickled red onions, avocado, and a drizzle of chipotle mayo. The pork was incredibly flavorful, and the combination of sweet and savory elements made for a perfectly balanced and delicious dish. I would absolutely order it again. Our other friend chose the Monty-Ray: a grilled chicken breast topped with grilled onions and melted cheese, served with pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and rice. It looked amazing and got a thumbs-up, too. Our waiter, Brick, was delightful--friendly, attentive, and helpful. The ambiance inside Gringo's was festive and full of personality--pure Mexicano charm. I've been several times but the last time warrants the 3 star review. Previously food was delicious and I'd always order the seafood enchiladas. This last time I did the same, but also got a brisket enchilada. The shrimp enchilada was very heavy on the cheese, and maybe I didn't notice before that the enchilada was all cheese, with the shrimp on top. I hate when restaurants do this; just put the meat on the inside. The brisket enchilada was bland and again, filled with cheese and very little meat. Came here on a Sunday evening and joined the waitlist online so we didn't have a long wait. Highly encourage anyone to take advantage of that because it does get crowded and we noticed several large parties. I first noticed the decor-it's cozy but a lot of wood and low lighting so it feels dark. I love the booths -it was very spacious for two people. Waitstaff were polite. It did take a while for them to remove used plates off the table but otherwise they were responsive and our order was correct. Food was good. I ordered the enchilada combo plate. I liked the beef best. The green salsa was more sauce than flavor in my opinion. My companion enjoyed their meal with an extra side of shrimp for protein. I tasted one bite of the churros and wasn't enticed to eat more. We asked if it was possible to order ice cream for dessert and our server told us there was no ice cream. Imagine our surprise when we saw people lining up for ice cream at a machine when we exited. I suppose that I should have been tipped off by the leftover 3-4 eaten ice cream cone that was sitting in between our booth and another... 3 stars because I have had other chain food that tasted better than this but still this wasn't a bad effort. read more

Having never been here we were very pleasantly surprised. Aasheeta, our waitress literally made my wife say even if the food sucked we come back just bc of her service, she was so amazing. Lucky for us (and any one interested inc checking this place out) the food is so good. We both had combination plates and they were so good. The taquitos, southwestern egg rolls, enchiladas, all So yummy. The chips and salsa was delicious as well as the green sauce. Aasheeta also brought out the "avalanche" (?) sauce and another one that was like a chimichurri sauce and I seriously cannot tell you which one was the best they were all so good. Great options for appetizers - southwestern egg rolls and shrimp empanadas are usually good though my shrimp empanadas were quite salty yesterday. I used to like their seafood enchiladas but yesterday the cheese or sauce on them tasted a little sour/bitter. My kids lemonade had a short, curly, coarse piece of hair in it- looked like p*bic hair.. but why would p hair be in my kids lemonade - GROSS! The fact that any hair in my food / drink was in there is a health violation and concerning. Their steak quesadilla is pretty good and so is their soup and salad. But I can no longer trust them. and it's been a while since I've visited because the last time I ordered tortilla soup and salad from here (which I love!) they did not put the top on my soup and it spilled out all in the bag over my salad and through to the seat of my car. Service is slower than average and every time I tip with my online to-go curbside order I feel like I wasted more money because there is always an issue. The hostess was really nice & the food came out so quick. The waiters are quick to leave your table (if you don't have a comment or anything), but overall a good experience. The southwest egg rolls were pretty delicious, especially when dipped in the amazon sauce. The chimichanga was good. The refried beans has a nice Smokey flavor. Literally should have known by the name "Gringos" that this would be the most white-washed food I would ever taste in my life. The food looks delicious but the flavor was not there. The charro beans tasted like salted water. The ladies at the front were nice but my waitress was condescending calling me "sweetie." I'm Asian so naturally I look young but I can bet that I'm probably older than her and I literally had my 5yo child with me. I love to order curbside from this location because I can't always go inside, but I do like to eat from this place whenever I can. I really enjoy the seafood enchiladas and the shrimp quesadillas. Unfortunately, since I don't often eat in the restaurant I am not able to get the chips with salsa, but the wait staff is nice enough to pack me some chips with a salsa.. the green one is absolutely delicious! Another sad thing about getting take out is that I cannot get the ice cream from the ice cream machine after our meal but I think the food is delicious enough that I am willing to forgo that ice cream. So we were car shopping and got super hungry so we decided to stop here and try the food out..... the place has a little construction going on in the inside but don't let it discourage you.... As far as the service it was pretty good we had some minor hick ups.... What went wrong which was an easy fix was my flour tortillas were dang near raw I had to send them back and get some new one.... But what was really good was the fajitas so tender and moist and medium rare.... Never cook the flavor and juice out of a fajita..... the shrimp were good to love the way they got cooked they were seared.... My plate was the fajita and shrimp Veracruz .... And she had the la bamba which is a Mexican style burger which was really good it was Smokey flavor not over done but just enough and it comes on one sourdough bun, with fried as well those were good too... over all the meal was very good could have used a little more seasoning no to say it was bland but I could have been just a little better.... We live in nearby Spring and every time we're in the area, this place appears packed. As such we assumed, must be really good "Mexican/TexMex". 6pm on a Thursday night we only waited a few minutes to be seated. The place was busy; several families, people at the bar, etc. The hostess was really friendly and within a minute or so we already had water served to us and a basket of tortilla chips with both a red salsa and green salsa. This is where it all went downhill. The red salsa tasted like something out of a jar. Like a sweet Tostitos salsa. Whatever it is I have a hard time believing they make it fresh. The green salsa was worse. No spice, over blended, and bland. The chips were no better than any generic chip from your local grocery store. I ordered the Plato Soldado which is a pork tamale, a cheese enchilada, a steak taco, yellow rice, and your choice of beans. I selected the ranchero style. Again... everything tasted like something straight out of the frozen food section of Walmart. The frozen tamales from HEB are twice as good as these. My wife ordered the chicken fajita tacos and she reported the same. Nothing tastes fresh, nothing is spicy. I cannot recommend this place to anyone that actually likes Mexican food. It's gross. Taco Bell is better, faster, cheaper. I once heard someone compare it to Lupe Tortilla or Pappasitos. If you think you're going to get something comparable to them at Gringo's you will be grossly dissatisfied. To their credit they do seem family friendly and if we still had young kids at home and we were on a budget, ... I don't know, maybe. Great food here! I had the "THREE AMIGOS + PEPE's" dinner. That comes with FOUR enchiladas, beef, chicken, cheese and ground beef, plus rice and beans. That's a dinner! Prices are decent. You've got a fajita platter over $20 for lunch with the smallest beef and chicken portions in the area? I guess they thought the mound of onions substitute for meat, and complete lack of peppers in there. Even worse? The Chicken was barely over room temperature.
