Tried this spot with a few friends for outdoor dining. This was also my first outdoor dining experience during the pandemic so I was a bit anxious and wasn't sure how I'd feel at the end of it. I was glad to see that the tables were spaced out pretty well, and we got one of the corner tables. We ordered the champagne which was great to begin with! I ordered a chicken entree which had a garlicky sauce, the chicken pieces were tender, juicy and delicious! My friends ordered pasta dishes and they enjoyed those as well. Overall, it felt pretty safe, we liked the place and would love to be back here to try out other items on the menu. read more

Great restaurant. Started with a refreshing glass of prosecco. Then into the most delicious and fresh truffle pasta with shaved truffle upon ordering. Also had the gnocchi with meat ragu and the lemon sole. The fish was just ok a bit dry. Nice complimentary zucchini. Old school Italian restaurant upper east with cozy old school ambiance, though I was underwhelmed by the food and drinks. Drink. I wanted a cocktail so ordered an extra dirty martini. The olives were peanut sized which was disappointing, as A great martini always has big plump olives, and the drink was not dirty- I had to request two extra servings of olive juice. I should have ordered wine. Service. The first server was not helpful recommending dishes based on what I wanted or perhaps they just did not have anything I really craved. Sometimes I like a server to make recommendations based on what I like or crave and the server was not able, and left me on my own saying it seemed I had particular wants so he would let me look over the menu on my own. Not a plus. I went with my default seafood pasta dish though I am tiring of that right now. Another server who brought pepper when the server was not around and the host / manager were very friendly. Food. The disappointment was the food - first not having a meat dish I would really like, then the dishes were fair, underwhelming and also colorless with what seemed little thought about presentation. I craved a meat dish for days but the server couldn't recommend anything other than duck or rabbit when I asked. Also they did not have my favorite beef carpaccio appetizer and when I was trying to describe another meat and cheese appetizer I had recently he was not certain and was not the best at recommending alternatives or suggestions. I ended up suggesting something possibly comparable without the direction. What we had: - foccocia... and wanting a sliced meat but not sure what I had a week prior elsewhere and without suggestions I suggested prosciutto and peppers. I had the meat wrong so it was what I suggested but not the most attractively presented. The dish was pretty good though; focaccia was great. - pasta with seafood/ marinara. Good but not great; scallops were solid and cooked just right, clams were small and some of the mussels while large were fishy tasting. - chicken and sausage dish. My friend ordered this and I found the brown sauce and finger resembling sausage links really unappealing looking, a serving of brown, and my friend and I both thought the dish and sauce were average. - zucchini that came with the chicken dish was overcooked, over-salty, brown and soggy. Presentation is important to me and I feel needs improvement here. I recalled an elementary school lesson and project where we needed to develop the school lunch menu, taught the importance of also ensuring visually plates have contrast and color, which besides looking nice ensures balance and nutrition. The dishes here had minimal contrast and color, mostly tan to brown. They would have benefited from dashes of greens or vegetable garnishes to brighten up and also add flavor. Old school ambiance is nice and warm but I was disappointed with the experience. We arrived after the train show, about half hour to 45 mins before closing so perhaps the chef was ready to go home. read more

Last evening I was so looking forward to introducing my friend to Lusardi's for her Birthday! We got our cocktails fairly promptly but then waited a very long time to order our dinner. After waiting an inordinate period of time and reminding our waiter and one of the maître d's about receiving our appetizers, my friend had a delicious salad and I had their wonderful Grilled Artichokes. They were both delicious! However as soon as we finished eating our first course the served us a lame excuse for spaghetti alla vingole! The spaghetti was like angel hair, the garlic was undercooked, and the sauce tasted only of olive oil. My friend and I felt that we were totally ignored in favor of the larger heterosexual tables. I tried to object to the manager but he never observed that we hadn't even eaten the spaghetti, nor did anyone notice when I spilled my entire glass of white wine. The service was not only slow but we were made to feel insignificant. I will not return to this restaurant! read more

Probably being one of the up-scaled restaurants serving Northern Italian cuisine, Lisardi's has been recommended by the Michelin critics and has indeed impressed me. I probably should feel regretful as I did not order their famous mozzarella, squid ink pasta, or tenderly cooked veal; yet I felt more than happy to have ordered the assorted seafood and the duck. While Anthony Bourdain has repeatedly said in his books, that diners should skip mussels in a restaurant, given how loosely the process could be carried on to clean up the small creatures; I was very pleased with my serving - very well marinated, and as chewy as you could imagine. Duck, on the other hand, with the help of white wine sauce, carried a light touch of special aroma - amazing! Haven't had much experience dining in this neighborhood, I should say the whole experience was nothing but flawless - I enjoyed every course, loved the wine, and had a great time with my girl friend. Amazing service, an incredible wine selection, and the food and portion sizes were both good. When we went they had black truffles available which was a nice option, but we decided against them. Each city I frequent I always try to find my "Go To" Italian restaurant. In New York I have chosen Lusardis. And for good reason; It has old school no nonsense great Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is warm and congenial and the wait staff is friendly and accommodating. The pasta dishes are fresh and the veal dishes are very well executed. To the grilled artichoke with parmasan, to the buffalo mozzarella, to the homemade pasta and shaved black truffle, back to the complimentary whiskey. Had a wonderful meal at Lusardi's. They have excellent outdoor seating and the service was excellent. The veal martini was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. It was so delicious! I also recommend the Crespelle Fiorentina appetizer. Even if you aren't a fan of eggplant, you should still get it because the eggplant it's just a vehicle for all the delicious cheesiness. For pasta, I recommend the Gnocchi Alla Piemontes. The only disappointment was the grilled artichoke. I'll definitely be back for another meal soon! read more

Had a wonderful meal here over the weekend. It's easy to make a reservation and they have a great outdoor set up but the ambiance inside looked warm and inviting. The service here is great and the food was delicious. We ordered a few pastas to start and they came out piping hot, just the way we like it! Yesterday we stumbled in to this restaurant after there was no room at next door place UVA that we often frequent. And as it turns out that's their sister restaurant. However this was our first time at the Lusardi's . We had no reservation and it was 4 of us at 7pm ( rush hour on UES restaurant scene). Manager that we spoke with promised us table but also mentioned since they were fully booked it make take some time since we were seated. He also gave us an option to eat at the bar. We ended up having drinks at the bar but manager kept his word and we were seated within 15 min. Amazing food, never have I ever had better truffle past, manager offered to choose a bottle of wine ( amazing, not overpriced...I think it was $80)and desserts.. to die for. Being 2nd generation Italian I don't remember having food ( and service) this good ever, anywhere but at Nona's house. Must visit. read more

One of the best Italian dinners in NYC. Lusardi's is an old-school Italian joint with a warm, intimate atmosphere and quiet demeanor. Crowd is a bit older, but fairly typical for an old classic such as this in the Upper East Side. The staff is incredibly welcoming and creates a home-like atmosphere. The owner/manager came by to compliment us on our wine selection as it was one of his favorites (2010 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon), so we offered him a glass which he accepted. At the end of the meal he kindly returned the favor with complimentary port for dessert. The food (notably the pasta) is incredible. The menu is fundamentally Northern Italian with butter/cream based sauces and a variety of meat. They also incorporate a bit of modern flare into the dishes as well. I was stuck deciding between 3 pasta dishes, and as I was pointing them out to the waiter he took the menu from my hands and said "surprise is best". When the food came, I was more than surprised - the chef had prepared all three pastas for me in slightly smaller portions to fill my dish. This was really going above and beyond in my opinion, and left me incredibly satisfied. I liken this place to Carbone in Greenwich Village, except Carbone has a bit of a older feel to it, while Lusardi's a bit more contemporary and less "stuffy". I highly recommend Lusardi's for a quiet and intimate dinner, or if you could be lucky enough to rent the place out for a private event. read more

I love that people dress up to come here and everything just feels so elevated and elegant, yet cozy and comfortable. Need an occasion to wear something special? Just come for dinner here! The wait staff are friendly yet outmost professional. Total class, yet it doesn't feel pretentious, there's no - "are you good enough to be our guests?" feeling. Everyone is wholeheartedly welcome. I went to Lusardis tonight and enjoyed every minute of the food that was served. The night was ruined when we payed our bill with cash and waiter gave us our change less $20 and when I asked about $20 he stated he was holding it for me. We then asked for our correct change but left restaurant feeling that he was trying to steal $20 from us. I never have experienced anything like this before in any restaurant. The shame was that we really enjoyed the experience and planned to come back but the waiters behavior left a bad taste. read more

If you are looking for that classic neighborhood Italian place then this is the place. From the classic dining room to the excellent service. The wine list was great and we really enjoyed the Sangiovese we ordered. It was truffle week so the pasta with black truffles was absolutely terrific. Just the right mix of truffle oil and shave truffles. Delightful without being overpowering. The yellow tuna crudito was also excellent. Fresh and light with tomatoes and burrata. We also real like like the rabbit which was extremely flavorful as long as I did not think about bugs bunny ;-). The pasta was delightfully light and perfectly prepared. I had a hard time giving this place a 4 star. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked into the restaurant and were seated within 5 minutes. The waiters came around frequently, but were not pushy or hovering over us. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday and we had a fantastic time! The food was exceptional! We started off with the Caprese Di Bufala, which didn't disappoint. The balsamic is a must to balance out the array of flavors. For our main entrees, we had the Paccheri In Salsa Affumicata and the Tortelli In Salsa Tartufata. We frequent a lot of Italian restaurants and Lusardi's by far had more vegetarian options than most Italian restaurants in the area. This is a 4 star due to the cocktails. We ordered an old fashioned or so we thought. I understand each restaurant has their own twist , but I was just not a fan of the heavy ice and lack of bitters. However, I will be back and will choose an Italian red to pair. read more
