I assume it is because I look very young and because I don't look like most of the other customers who come in to do business, but I am a paying customer, and no matter what it's impolite to treat anyone this way, especially in retail! Also, I bought a ring here recently and the woman helping me didn't know answers to basic questions regarding the rings I was looking at (for example: I asked her which stones were precious and she could name a few and then was unsure). She also didn't know anything about most of the pieces themselves (just what was written on the tags). If you want to get something appraised or to see if Anderson wants to buy something, just know it's very rare for him to agree to buy something and if he does he will most likely ask for much less than it's worth! I have had friendly interactions with a few of the employees who have been pretty helpful, but each time I walk out of that shop, I feel gross from the bad interactions I had and from being treated as less-than. If this is because of appearance than I would advice anyone who doesn't look like their "typical" customer to be wary. Otherwise they have beautiful estate items! Not sure I'll be doing business with them any time soon though.

Most jewelers date their batteries with a marker and I believe he had as well, but he denied having done the replacement and refused to replace it. For the $1.00 or so, not more it had cost him, since he already had the watch open, the smart thing with respect to customer good will would have been to just put in a new one. But he wasn't smart enough to do that. However he is very shrewd and I think, dishonest. With respect to his incessant TV ads to sell you gold and Rolex watches there for cash, I would suggest you get other quotes on your gold/Rolex before going to Marquis Jewelers!

However it was busy each time I was here, and this was my first time exploring this place. I had to wait several minutes before anyone asked if I needed help. Then the conversation was very different than what I had on the phone with them. We recently bought an engagement ring and other items elsewhere, and have spent likely thousands. We can be great customers, but no one wanted to help me, and when they did notice me it was such an uncomfortable experience. I believe the sales ladies were trying to be nice, but the space in the store is very narrow and crowded, and awkward. I was never asked my name, or any other information. They were very apologetic the entire time. I did drop off the item, but after retalking about it and seeing the other reviews, I went back for the item because It was an uncomfortable experience and I was worried something would happen to a family jewelry item. I would definitely read the reviews, as their experience is similar to mine as someone coming in for an item repair. They were more interested in people buying items right away, and did not seem interested in me or my needs as a brand new customer.
