One of the worst experiences we have had at this restaurant. Previous experiences have been good however nearly everything we ordered was prepared horribly. To start wife ordered cream cheese crepes with cinnamon apples added on top. Was served as crepes overloaded with cinnamon and cream cheese was a spoonful of plain cream cheese in the middle apples very undercooked for baked apples. I ordered the diesel burger listed as burger with bacon egg and hot sauce. Burger patty ended up being a frozen pressed patty, which was heavily salted, and absolutely drenched in hot sauce to the point of all other flavors covered up except salt and hot sauce. Both of these dishes could have been prepared and served much better by anyone who was paying attention to what they were cooking. This has been one of our favorite restaurants in town. However, recently they have went downhill very quickly. read more

You can't beat the Lux cafe's portions, prices, and menu selection. The breakfasts are to die for, including ginormous omelette that are two meals for me, and the sandwiches come with soup and an additional side (the fries are really good!), so there is no way you can leave here hungry. My bbq chicken sandwich was delicious and slathered in sauce, and my friend's Reuben was stacked with meat. I only wish they were open for dinner time, I dont go out for breakfast or lunch often so I don't make it here as much as I'd like to! read more

The portions are HUGE!! I usually get fluffy pancakes instead of toast as a side. Breakfast items are great, a good brunch option, they do get pretty crowded on the weekend. I have not been let down. The lunch items are good too, but I prefer the breakfast food. The potato's benedict is good but just remember to pick another side than hashbrowns (there was way too much potatos and I do love the potatoes). My go to is the country fried steak!! read more

Got here and went inside I was told it would be a 30 min wait, I decided it was worth it since it had 4.5 stars. I waited and was sat down after 30 mins. The water tasted funny and the ceiling was leaking. The environment was incredibly loud, stuffy, and hot. I ordered my food at 12:44 and received it an hour later!!! My food was soggy and flavorless, my hash browns were cold and I didn't receive my pancakes for another 20 mins. The pancakes were ok. The only reason why I didn't give this place a one star is because my server was super kind and incredibly helpful. You can definitely get a better meal faster and for less money at Cracker Barrel. This is my favorite breakfast spot in Battle Creek! The 3 cheese omelet is huge and it comes with pancakes (or 1 piece of French toast if you ask nicely!) and potatoes. It's easily 2-3 meals in one! My husband is a huge fan of their waffles. The servers are always pleasant with me and my son. In addition to their breakfasts they have delicious entrees as well, including the gyro and the corned beef sandwiches! When I'm sick my go to is their chicken noodle soup! The only drawbacks to me that the bathrooms are in desperate need of upkeep (falling tiles) and sometimes the service, while as I said, great, can be somewhat slow. When I worked in town, we would try to order and pay to save on time so I wouldn't return late to work. Have eaten here many times over the past year and a half, and I have to say it is one of my favorite restaurants in the Battle Creek area - especially for breakfast! Place is always slammed on weekend mornings, full of happy regular customers being served by friendly and attentive wait staff. The fare ranges from all sorts of typical breakfast and lunch items that are served in huge portions for really good prices. However, in my opinion the best food here are the Greek menu items - I think the owners have Greek heritage, and this food is delicious. My favorites are the Gyros & Feta breakfast skillet, the Greek Town Gyros sandwich, and the Athenian Salad w/ Gyros meat. Love, love, LOVE this restaurant - can't recommend it enough! read more

Driving home from Chicago I was looking for an inexpensive breakfast place for a rib sticking comfort food meal and Lux Cafe doesn't disappoint. For just under $8 I had the country skillet breakfast, which is served in a legit skillet, so you know you're in for a lumberjack of a ride if you eat the entire thing. 3 (or 4, I'm not sure) scrambled eggs on top of monterey jack cheese on top of sausage gravy on top of sausage on top of diced potatoes. Served with a side of your typical, doughy, heavy buttermilk pancakes and faple (fake maple) syrup. Even me, who can put a serious amount of food away when she sets her mind to it, was only able to eat about 1/3 of this before I finally admitted defeat. I enjoyed my breakfast at Lux but I wouldn't say that I was blown away. The pancakes were good, the eggs were ok, and the bacon was cooked nicely. The real downside to Lux is that if you are unfortunate enough to be seated in the back room you will find that it is difficult to have a private conversation with your table. The room's ceiling height paired with the wood floors creates an echo chamber like effect, meaning everyone in the room can hear everything you say. I love coming here for breakfast any day of the week. Anytime I have the opportunity, I go to Lux Cafe. Their busiest time is usually on the weekends (especially Sunday) and on the weekends, they will usually have a waiting list for tables. But if you call in, you can reserve a table or place an order for pickup. Lux is also incredibly accommodating for large groups; if you want to have a group of 10+ you can call in and they will have no problem putting you in the backroom so that you can have plenty of room. There are multiple seating areas, so on weekdays, the odds are that you will be seated right away. The waitresses always come to your table right away to take your drink order and are always prepared for a table that is in a rush. I have never had a bad waitress at Lux, and it is great to see some of the relationships that waitresses have formed with the patrons. There is a large menu, with breakfast and lunch options, and there is certainly something that everyone can enjoy. My favorite drink to get is a hot chocolate, it rivals the hot chocolate at the Pancake House in Battle Creek. My favorite dish is chocolate chips pancakes. They are always the best pancakes I have ever had, they are perfectly fluffy and soft. I have never had crispy or burnt pancakes at Lux. My mom order poached eggs, and something to note is that if you order two poached eggs you will get four. If you order one poached egg you will get two. The portions at Lux are very large, but you certainly get your money's worth! I believe that Lux Cafe is the perfect breakfast place for anyone, and think it is the ideal place to go for breakfast in Battle Creek. read more
