A friend and myself were driving down the 405 and there were multiple accidents so we decided to yelp some nail salons. This place has great reviews so we called and asked how much a gel mani and pedi would cost, the lady on the phone said $30, we thought that was low so I repeated myself and she said yes $30. We got there and reconfirmed the price, it was now $50, we mentioned we spoke to someone just a few minutes before, the front desk girl said "yes that was me but its $50." We thought it was weird buy at that point we were there. The manicurists did an awesome job! This is why we are giving them 4 stars. Fingers and toes at the same time and amazing massages! Then it was time to check out, we used the coupon on their website, the front desk girl said it was not valid. I said its in your website now I want to use it. She finally agreed and we paid and left. My nails look awesome, but the front desk girl is obviously very confused about prices and customer service. So be warned of this! read more

This is my second time giving this "spa" a try and I'm not a fan. Unless you're the type who relaxes from people loudly talking and laughing directly in your face while you pay $90 for a mani/pedi, this ain't the place for you. Everyone who works here is so loud and talk the entire time as a group back and forth while the clients are uncomfortably silent and trying to relax. Next, they seemed unaware of how to do the mani type I wanted (SNS powder which they refer to as "dip"). My nails took about 40 mins longer than any other salon and he didn't even clean up around my nails after ward even after I asked about it which I was told to "just pick it off" (again, I paid $90 to clean my own nails up). Lastly, the 20 min massage was literally her applying and soaking my legs in lotion...there was no pressure or massage which I was really hoping for. I won't be coming back. read more

Read the other negative reviews, same experience. No concept of time even with reservation. Waited 30 minutes after my appointment and then had to wait again for pedicure. Total of two hours for a mani/pedi. Additionally, the pedicure was horrible and I had to trim my nails after. The girl that was doing my nails actually went to lunch for 15 minutes while I sat there with my foils on, and did not tell me. Did not see any sanitizing during our two hour visit. The employees were not friendly, especially the guy he was very rude. I only went here to meet my friend and she was also shocked at the service. I debated on posting this, but then I realized if I didn't say anything it could happen to another person. I went in today and got a dip gel manicure and a pedicure. I am in pain. My fingers were filed, not just my nail but my actual finger. I also have a small cut on my pinky finger. There's also the acrylic powder under one of my nails. Then to add to my already painful hand experience my toes were cut way too short. My big toe is close to bleeding. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the ombré was done really well and my foot massage was good. I'm really disappointed at the amount I was charged for this painful experience. I had a great experience here just before the second "shutdown". I got a gel mani and pedi 5 weeks ago and I cannot believe the gel is still perfectly intact, albeit they are very grown out, they haven't lifted at the base or chipped at the tips. I really hope this place survives as I have not found a place that can get nails to last this long. Usually if I'm lucky I can get them to go 3 weeks. 5 is unheard of. I can't wait for them to reopen so I can go back. Highly recommend! read more

Julie did such an amazing job!! Best acrylics in San Clemente by FAR. Serenity and Belagio don't compare. They are very secure too- don't start falling off or lifting up. Would be 5 stars except that my friend had a lady shape her nails for 2 hours once and had to leave before she even painted them because of other obligations. It's definitely a good choice to go right as they open. You'll get in and out WAY faster. Appointments don't really seem to mean much to nail places in San Clemente with my experience, so just try to go at a non crowded time. Like right as they open. read more

Don't go when it's close to closing time, it's the worst time to go. They are in a hurray and just want to go home. I had an appointment at the time that the electricity was off, that should have been a clue to leave. I needed my nails and a pedicure for a wedding so I decided to stay. Then they told me the hot water was off as well. Cold pedicure, this was a lie. Then the girl doing my nails put the water in the cup from where my feet were soaking to soak my nails. UGH!! My daughter went to get acrylics done at Lux. 3 fell off within the first day. We went back to get them fixed, they weren't open at 10am yet when their sign says 9:30am. We came back and they fixed them for free (as they should). Now less than a week later, half of them have fallen off. My daughter has had acrylics done multiple times at different places and this has never happened before. I'm giving them 2 stars because their design was good. I paid $70 for her acrylics that haven't even lasted a week. Expensive and not worth it! read more

I needed my acrylics removed since they were already breaking and I received assisted from Kim and she did absolutely AWESOME. I was the last customer since I did walk in later then expected but she still gave me an A+ service with taking her time with my nails. Just because they take the reservation, doesn't mean they have the reservation. This is not the first time I've made a mani/pedi reservation, only to be sitting here 35 minutes later, wondering what the heck is going on. Both times I've been duped by the fact that they will take one of the people (usually one of my kids) and then make we wait forever. Although I absolutely understand that the world seems to be understaffed, this isn't why I'm writing a one start yelp review. The fact that almost every single person in here acts like they don't speak English (yes I know some of the gals aren't proficient but come on!) and refuse to make eye contact is inexcusable. I'm actually sitting here in the salon right now, one daughter getting her nails done, the other 2 waiting...is ridiculous. I will also mention that there are 2 people milling about, just chatting and staring at their phones. Don't trust the reservation/appointment time-I'm guessing they just said to come on in, hoping I'd be overly patient and waiting 45 minutes to see someone is acceptable. As of now, my one daughter is getting attended to, and I took my other 2 girls to Talega Nail Spa, where they were seated and worked on immediately. ONE STAR FOR LUX NAILS. Epic failure. This place is not at all concerned with creating a relaxing environment for their customers. They blast telemundo in Spanish and scream really loud when their team is winning their soccer game. They also bring all their kids to work, which I can totally understand during these strange times of covid, but they are often running around, blasting their cartoons, and being loud. They also charge weird. They ask you to add the tip before paying, overcharge you, then reimburse you the difference??? Something fishy going in their. My mani/pedi is always blah. Very short massage, doesn't get my ingrown a at all, and I still leave with peeling skin around my nails. So...if you don't mind watching soccer in Spanish, screaming, cartoons blasting, kids running around, a mediocre mani/pedi and staff not wearing masks, then this is the place for you. read more

This place is awful. Awful is an understatement. You will be charged 85.00 for a manicure and pedicure and have 1/2 of your nail bed showing. Then when you leave, they will demand you give them a tip in cash. When someone is demanding cash, this should be a red flag to everyone. Are they trying to avoid paying taxes to the IRS? Are they money laundering? If they can't follow our laws, do you honestly think they are using any sanitation practices? I mean, nothing in there seemed cleaned to me. please never go here, they take forever and re rude towards children. Literally such an awful experience.My daughter went in there by herself and I was going to pick her up after. She went in right after a large group but had an appointment. It took them 15 minutes to give her color options and the 30 minutes to start polish, by this time the people she had walked in literally right behind were already done. A woman came up to start on her nails but they sent her to the lady next to her who had come in 30 minutes after her. At an hour later they finally started on her nails and I told her to complain. One worker was very nice but the other ones laughed her and spoke in another language. She refused to pay for her toes and they didn't let her get her hands done. I'm disappointed to say that my daughter broke into tears because she was so embarrassed to make a scene and complain. Unprofessional and I do not recommend this place. I was visiting from out of town and decided to get a full set. I googled the hours of operation- it said that it opens at 9. I arrive at 9 but the window said that it opens at 9:30 so I went next door to Starbucks to wait. I went to the door at 930- lights were off. I called the number on the door- no answer. Workers showed up at 9:50 and let those of us waiting at the door to come in however, did not acknowledge anyone until 10. I only stayed at this place because I didn't know the area to search for a different nail spot. The girl who sat me thanked me for waiting then said that she was hungry and needed to eat before starting- that's why nobody was helped until 10. What the heck?! Eat before coming to work hellooo!! Also, a man waited until the doors opened and asked to purchase a gift certificate. The girl told him to come back at 11 when the owner arrives saying that she's not allowed to sell gift certificates without the owner- the man left. At 10 o'clock a different man came in and asked for a gift certificate and the same girl filled out a gift certificate and allowed this person to purchase. Me and another lady who saw this both looked at each other- caught the girl in a lie. Me and another girl got the exact same nails. My nail lady only did one coat of paint and one coat of clear while the girl next to me had two coats of paint and two coats of clear. We both wanted glitter however, they didn't know how to add glitter with clear gel. Weird right?! I am giving two stars only because my nails have not lifted and it's been a week since I had them done. You can see where the clear coat is peeling on some nails and also where the clear coat was not put on the entire nail on some. read more

I moved to San Clemente from West LA a couple months ago and have only tried out one nail spot so far. I have to say I haven't been that impressed. But, I'm happy to say I tried out Lux Nail Spa for the first time today instead and I was impressed. I will definitely be a return customer. This is what I loved about the salon: - When I first walked in, I was immediately greeted with a genuinely friendly hello and asked what service I would like. The atmosphere was peaceful and yet cheerful. (I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure). - I had just a small moment to wait and the waiting area was clean and comfortable. There is a beautiful chandelier above that makes the greeting/waiting area cute and charming. - The manicurist, Lynn, and pedicurists, Jenny and Sophie, did a wonderful and meticulous job. I'm the type of person who ends up picking at my fingernails if there are any jagged nail pieces not filed or cut. In my most recent experiences at the previous salon, I've had to come home and file my own nails because the manicurist didn't cut or file everything. (If I don't take care of it, I'll bite all my nails off)! This time, I can see Lynn perfectly manicured my nails. I actually don't have to manicure my nails afterward! My whole experience was great and everything I was hoping to finally find within a close distance of my home. I highly recommend Lux Nail Spa! read more

He made sure my nails were clean and even and left me in the UV light for plenty of time for my nails to dry. Time management was his thing too. Instead of putting me in the foil wraps and leaving me, thats when he did my arm massage. Which was fantastic. He was friendly and kind. Mimi did my toes. She was quiet but very good. She took her time and made sure my experience was great. I had he deluxe pedicure which included the massage and paraffin. Mimi has great strength in her hands making my massage worth the money. This is my first time here, but I will be back. So happy they are open on Sunday. read more

This is the worst nail experience i've ever had. I was running late to something and needed to get my acrylics off, so i stopped at the first salon i saw. I just needed my acrylics off, nothing else, and it took over an hour. My nails were filed raw and i had cuts on multiple fingers. I was told to "calm down" every time i would flinch from the pain. After the filing, he forced my hands into the acetone which got into all of my cuts and was not pleasant whatsoever. They could tell i was upset, so i showed them the cuts when they asked what was wrong. They said "oh that's nothing you're fine". I've been to Lux 4 times and had Both pedicures and fills, each time with someone different. The service has always been very friendly and the results beautiful. I am a little picky and even though I have acrylics, I like them to look as natural as possible and they've accomplished this each time. I also like designs, just show them a picture of what you want and they will do their best to do it. I like that they use liners for their pedicure basins, very hygienic. Good color selections. This used to be a great place and I have come here for three years to get my gel mani and pedicures. The last three times my nails have not lasted a week or the gel has chipped within a week. Today was the last straw. I was told 5-10 min to be seen. I waited patiently and patiently to be seen. An hour goes by and they finally are ready to see me. They put me in the chair and then walk away for another 10 min. She came back to ask me if my hand color was the same as toes and then walked away again. After 5 min of being left alone again I had to walk out. Don't tell customers 5-10 mins and then have them wait for an hour or more. Will not be coming back. read more
