I came here as a last resort as it was late on a Sunday and my regular salon had closed. The girl doing my nails cut me when trimming my cuticles and when I flinched and said "OWWW" she giggled and proceeded. No sorry or anything!!! I brought my 8 yr old daughter with me and let them do a pedicure and they charged me $18 dollars for a kids pedi!!! This is insane! I told her $18 dollars is what I pay for my pedi and she said it was expensive because they did a flower on her big toe. I never asked them to do a flower. In fact I'm sure they say her very far away from me so I couldn't see and they could just upcharge me for unapproved services. An $8 dollar flower? Really!?!? I've been coming here for a while for manicures with Ivy. She's really good and always takes her time with your nails even when it's busy. Ivy takes pride in making sure you are satisfied with your nails and will willingly make corrections to your nails if you see something you don't like. I definitely recommend asking for Ivy, If you're wanting a mani/pedi. Personally I like to call and make appointments with her. She's usually good at being done with clients by your appointment time. Overall, it's a nice establishment. They do not follow proper sanitary guidelines with tools such as pumice stones, nail files and tools but it's a risk you'll take with cheaper nail spas. I really want to love this place, because most of the ladies are nice and the prices are great, but there are just some things that rub me the wrong way... I first came in here with my bff. We decided to catch up over a mani/pedi and she yelped a place that was near by. The first experience was great. We were one of the last customers to come in. The two employees working were gracious enough to take their time and accomodate our late arrival. I ended up getting a pedicure and new set of pink & white, which were shaped to my liking - a hard thing to do. The only complaint I have with the pink & white was the thickness of the acrylics. They were uneven and a little too thick to what I'm used to. But I was satisfied enough. My bff got the gel manicure and a pedicure. I was so happy to see that when they did start, they peeled open new sterile instruments. The cleanliness and satisfactory job ensured a second return. The next time I came in, I went in for a fill and a pedicure. The lady that did my pink & whites was there that day, but she was already in the middle of catering to another client, so I took the next available technician. She was pretty rude, a little to rough on the buffing (she snagged my cuticles and burned my nails), and seemed like she didn't want to be there. Minus one star for that. The fill was botched - super thick, uneven, and shaped funky. The pedicure was another nightmare. Another different technician tended to my feet and she pulled out tools from the SOILED box. That box CLEARLY read in ENGLISH - "SOILED". Whoa chick! Can you clean those please? Throw them in the antiseptic? What happened to brand new sterilized utensils freshly sealed in their pack? Not sure, but that wasn't even the worst part. Home girl buffed my toes with A POWER TOOL...as in something that you can find in your dad/husband/boyfriend's garage. I thought it was just me till I looked around and other clients were getting their toes buffed by a power tool. Hella weird and I'm also sure that was hella unsafe. And you would think that with power tools buffing your toe nails, you'd have a super smooth paint job. Nope, not the case. My toes didn't look too good walking out there. I wasn't surprised when a couple of days later, my bff told me that she got a fungal infection after her second trip there. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. The prices are great, but I guess you do get what you pay for. I was lucky enough not to get a fungal infection, but I did end up going back to my usual nail salon a couple of days later to get my nails fixed. read more

I love this place. They are reasonably priced and are so kind and courteous. I started going here with my co-worker on our lunch breaks. The ladies are incredibly understanding of your time crunches because you are on a lunch break and do their best to get you out of there in an hour without compromising their work. On top of that it feels clean... ladies you know what I'm talking about. Another perk is that they offer waxing services and will do your eyebrows as you get your pedicure. I am not a picky pedicure person, but this place was not hygenic. The woman used an old Emory board! In fact, all the tools she used were not cleaned and she used them for person after person. I asked if she had sanitized or new tools she could use on me, and she said they don't do that. That means, if a person has a nail fungus, it will be passed on. I've been coming into Lux Nail Spa consistently for the past several months now, but tonight will be my last visit. In short, I expect my nail salon to be clean, have great customer service and to provide a mani/pedi session that is relaxing with paint that doesn't chip. Unfortunately, this salon only consistently delivers on the first item. As a result, I've had a love/hate relationship with Lux Nail Spa. It's kind of like having an extra crummy boyfriend who is amazing to you in when you first meet, but then slowly becomes incredibly crappy. Every once in a while he's awesome, just to keep you around, until you remember why you actually hate him and he sucks at life. That's Lux. With the exception of one nail tech who I got on my first visit (Tiffany) everything else pretty much sucks. Tiffany is amazing with gel manicures and I would recommend her without hesitation if you have a special event to go to. She takes tons of time, and does the best designs. They're always subtle and fun without being too over the top: something I can actually wear to the office and still look like a professional. My gel manicures from her are the best and whenever I get one they last upwards of 3 weeks. Everything else here is pretty much sub par. They don't honor reservations. Even if you call ahead of time, you will need to wait to be serviced. Their regular polish selection is lacking so I typically brought my own, and they give the shortest foot massage I've ever received -- its probably 90 seconds max unless you pay for an upgrade. On the plus side I will say that they aren't too pushy on the upgrading -- they typically ask you once to see is you are interested in additional services, but don't bother you too much if you decline. The paint jobs are hit or miss. Sometimes you can see the streaks and other times it's pretty good. Today was just another example of lackluster performance. I was overdue for a gel removal so I called ahead to see how long the wait was. They said I could walk right in with no wait, which was true. Tiffany wasn't in, so I just asked for a spa pedi and a regular manicure and removal of my old gel polish. While one woman came to do my feet another woman came over to prep my gel removal, but after she sat her bowl down -- another customer walked in and asked for gel. So she left me at my station and went to serve the next customer!!! Then I proceeded to watch as the next 4 technicians declined to help with my manicure and instead serviced customers who walked in 5-15 minutes after me. In fact, when the first tech finished my pedicure she got up, left me and said that someone else would help me later with my mani -- which ended up being a 30 minute wait now that all the women who were previously free were working on the other customers who came in far after me. It ended up being over a 90 minute visit, when I could've been out in 45 min or less. When I complained I did not even get as much as an apology -- instead the tech asked me why it didn't want to do gel this time. At this point, I was so ready to leave I didn't even wait for her to paint my nails. Clearly I left no tip -- which was a first for me because I like to be generous at salons -- but I couldn't bring myself to give them a bonus when they had treated me so badly after coming in every two weeks for the past 6 months. Terrible customer service I recommend you stay away unless you are in a bind or if you can get Tiffany to work on your gels. I will be going back to my old salon in hermosa (Elegant Nail Spa!!) which is a little further, but worth the extra 5 minute drive. read more

Update!!!! I've been going here for a few months and ended up with nail fungus. I've never in my life had such a thing. Last month I noticed my nails turning yellow, so I asked the tech why. She tells me because I leave my polish on for too long and its discolored the nail. Ok, fine. Two weeks ago, My toenails are cracking and breaking and getting all bubbly in the middle. I ask the nail tech, do you think I'm getting fungus or something? She says, no you just need a pedicure. The last person who filed your nails filed it too deep, ok, well YOU were the last person to do it. I get the edi with no filing. This week, my nails hurt and are all jacked up. I go to the doctor and guess what, It's fungus. I'm so utterly disgusted and dissapointed. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!! Needless to say, my mani and pedi days are officially over. read more

I decided I wanted to treat myself, so after I used my Starbucks app to track down the closest Starbucks, I then hopped on Yelp to locate a decent nail salon to drop $50 on a mani-pedi. This place popped up and the pictures looked decent so I decided to give them a try. I got a Royal Pedicure that was supposed to cost $38 and a manicure with no polish, just a buffing and Sea Salt Scrub that was supposed to cost $18 total. My manicurist tried to convince me to upgrade my manicure for and extra $10 which included all that I got, plus a massage, and although I informed her that I wasn't interested in a hand massage, she gave me one anyway. I wasn't particularly pleased with that. I decided to get gel polish on my toes which would cost an extra $10. I was happy with the length of all of my nails so I informed them to scratch the clipping service and to just lightly file them. They still clipped all of my nails to a very undesirable length that I am also not happy with. By the time everything was said and done, the mediocre mani-pedi that I thought was only going to cost me $60, turned out to be $80. I wasn't happy about that, but I paid it and called it a day. read more

THINK TWICE BEFORE GETTING WAXED HERE** took the ex here so she could get her pits waxed LOL.. well here are some quick notes: -16 bucks for pits (ex claims to get it done cheaper elsewhere) -her armpits ended up BLEEDING -LOTS of little hairs noticeably left from what should have been removed when speaking with the manager/owner, she first asked if my ex was Vietnamese, because her workers were pretty much talking sh!t and to her surprise my ex responded "Yes" (she's a quarter French, so she doesn't look Viet). She then offered to pluck the remaining hairs that were left, but after bleeding my ex didn't feel comfortable with the same worker touching her. the manager/owner reluctantly offered a 3 dollar discount (13 bucks) which we were still upset with, and my ex gave me a 10 to hand to her. i threw it down on the table and said "call the cops if you want, write my license down my car's right there" and she said "ok i call cops no problem" LOL...my cousin is a cop. not sure about their other services, but another lady seemed to have trouble explaining what she wanted to one of the other workers there, since there is a language barrier (which is usually the case i'd assume with nail salons). proceed with caution. read more

Lux Nailspa, you were recommended to me by family. When I went in there, you were packed for a Saturday. Your place is not the nicest, location is in a strip mall, yet your prices are bit more than what I expected. Irrelevant though, I do pay for good service. However when you nick me on a toe to the point where I'm bleeding, and did not apologize, was my first red flag. Second red flag was insulting me for dry skin in order to upsell me a treatment. I said no thank you and your employee still continued. Then when you tried to cut my nails, managed to slice three nail beds on my hands. You saw that I have long nail beds. Why would you try to continue after I snatched my hand away. You look at me and asked if I was scared. Damn right I was scared! Last straw was when she sanded my nail beds down. I asked her what she thought she was doing. I have never had any nail technician take a sander to my nails. My NATURAL NAILS. I was not getting fake nails. She said my nails were dingy. currently sitting in 'spa' chair. terrible. the spa chairs are like wire baskets that you fall into. the section where your butt rests is a piece of wood. with a piece of leather disguising it I had to settle on the 3rd spa chair (I have never complained about a spa chair before) the manicure was requested as French dip and ended up clear. i did request dip. and what a waste also the manicurists did not offer a pillow to preorder me from falling into the back of the spa chair. the pedicure lady after she showed up. the gel I chose for pedicure was all of a sudden not available -it was 10 min earlier. back to these horrendous spa chairs I feel like I am a giant in these wire baskets waiting to be electrocuted if water from the foot spa splashes around. I am a goner (i am 5'5). god only knows I am going to have to pay for this unbelievable uncomfortable manicure the lady who did my toes was nice this is by far the absolute worst manicure experience I have ever had. this place is so awkward I can not tell you how much of a bad decision I made coming here. I prefer this place over the place across the way. This place is way more affordable and more available. The spa chairs are comfortable, the service is great and there is TV. So not too much to complain about. However, I have gone there to get a facial wax or whatever its called, and they did it out where everyone gets their nails done. Like the lady crawled on me to wax my eyebrows. It was a little weird. And i know, whatever, its all ladies, but come on...maybe some privacy? To contrast that experience i did go there wanting to get my nails done and didn't really know what to get. I was thinking of getting a set and then i picked out this super sparkly nail powder (apparently its new) and then while she was doing the manicure part i changed my mind and decided to do gel nails instead. THEN while she was still doing the manicure i changed my mind again to a regular manicure, and then again to gel. I was irritated with myself, as im sure the manicurist was, but she was very understanding and helped me decide which color (since i cant make decisions apparently) and that was that. This place was a neat surprise. I was walking around the shopping center and decided to give it a try. Women know there is an art to finding the perfect nail salon and just walking in blind is a risk. I walked in and didn't even have to sit in the waiting area, they took right on in. It's interesting because they were near closing time but never made me feel rushed or as if they were looking at the clock. When I was seated it seemed as though I was only going to get the one person for both services, but shortly into my pedicure another nail tech came to do my hands. I was relieved it wouldn't take a long time. Both nail techs were pleasant and I held a conversation with them both. The shop was clean and had a nice setup. My nails were properly manicured and they did not skimp on the hand massage. I was even given a hot oil treatment for my cuticles. I wish every nail shop would put some care into their services and add hot oil treatments as a part of their regular services instead of penny pinching you. ie: do you want hand scrub? yes. okay 2 dollars more. I don't live close to here so coming here on a regular basis won't be my thing. But if you live or work in the area, this would be a good choice to try. read more

Went with my sister after picking her up from the airport on a Wednesday afternoon. There were 5 nail technicians and we had to wait a bit because they were all with customers. This place is pretty cheap as the previous reviews stated. However, you get what you paid for. I got a french manicure and my sister got a regular manicure. I had forgotten to let the lady know that I didn't want my cuticles cut and she was pretty accommodating although she seemed a bit put off by the request when I first asked. She was quick with my manicure, did a short hand/arm massage (less time than I'm use to), and my polish had bubbles in it. Also, my polish had chipped by the next day, and I hadn't been doing anything different from other manicures. My sister chose a dark color for her manicure. Her lady left polish all over her fingers and stabbed my sister under her nail in the attempt to clean up her fingernails. Not cool. I realize that she was rushed for time because there were other customers waiting. However, my experience was a solid meh since my polish couldn't even last more than 24 hours, my sister's experience, and the feeling of being rushed. read more

I tried this place originally because it was open late and worked with my weekly schedule. The first visit was great. Well crafted nails, friendly service. I returned a few weeks later for a fill, gel pedicure and eyebrow waxing and it was far below the service I first received. The woman who did my fill was nice enough but not five days later one of my nails broke. I found that to be odd but wrote it off as me being rough. She fixed the nail free of charge and I wasn't pleased with the way she re-dis the nail but it was free so I didn't complain. But what was unusual was the next day ANOTHER nail broke and when I went to have it fixed, the nail tech was so rude and kept asking me how I broke it like I was lying about how it broke. Then after she was done she firmly told me there would be no more freebies. Well, if the nails weren't done poorly, I wouldn't have this problem to begin with! She even painted my nail a slightly different color! When I confronted her she shrugged and told me the paint they used to do my original set ran out so the color was a bit "off". The pedicure I received was horrible. The woman stopped three or four times to service other patrons without saying a word. Then made my toe bleed. It was like she was attempting to pry national secrets from me. So much stabbing and absolutely no apologizing or even showing remorse. Girl, I'm not here to be tortured. When they were done with my nails they asked me to pay and I asked "what about my eyebrows?" The woman sighed and told me to hold on. Cons: They rushed through the whole process. I had two different colors selected. one for my toes and one for my nails. They put the correct color on my toes..then the woman doing my nails kept asking what color I wanted on my nails, and I tried to explain that the color she took from me when I first sat down was the color I wanted..but she kept saying Pink? Pink? not really listening to me..So I gave up and agreed saying, yes..the Pink is fine. (Which is the clear color with a teeny tiny hint of pink..if any) the color I initially chose was a pretty red-coral color, which I was really excited about. Had I known she would've not taken my color I would've given that color to the woman doing my toes, instead of having the purple color I had gotten. She asked while I was sitting in my chair to pay. Awkward...because I'm supposed to tip before the whole process is though? I don't think so..So they got right in the middle of what i anticipated tipping before even going in. I would've tipped less had I been able to wait until the end of my session to tip because of the shoddy job done. As well as rushing me out the door. So i ended up tipping more than I would've considering the bad job thinking "well, if i tip well they'll do their job well" That was clearly not the case. I feel totally gypped. Before my polish was even dry they escorted me out the door. Leaving me with wet toe and nail polish. Which of course is a prime time for smudges. by the time I even got to the car I had smudges. that's cool...lasted all of 30 seconds. I dropped in here one day to get a polish change for a wedding. I saw the price of the spa pedicure and returned. The next visit, I got both a spa pedicure with a design and manicure. I loved it. The next day, the polish on my nails was literally peeling off. I thought this was ODD, since I'm extremely careful with my nails. I brushed it off and went back... I came back a couple months later and got a spa pedicure and manicure. I asked to have my mani minus the base coat. My polish still came off within the next day =( Sooo only come here for pedicures. They also did a good job on my eyebrows...I'll just have to get my nails somewhere else. *shrugs* They do accept credit cards, but bring cash for tips. read more
