Luchi no longer owns the salon. Pretty much all of the girls like Luchi, Arelis, Bianca and etc all work at Serenity Salon at 1600 S. Broad Street. Serenity Salon is smaller, but the vibe is better and the prices are a whole lot better. When I'm in town, I'll always follow Arelis. It's just my take. But I noticed a lot of negative reviews lately and thought I'd update everyone to let them know this is a completely different salon with a new owner and service. If you want the same historical service from years prior, you'll have to go to serenity salon.

I went there to…read moreget my hair dyed, get my ends clipped and to get my hair curled. upon arrival I let them know that I am severely allergic to PPD that's in the dye the first thing that the receptionist said was "it's still going to be the same price" I told her I didn't care about the price I just wanted to ensure that I didn't have an allergic reaction she offered me their organic dye I looked at the back of the ingredients and told her no thank you because I can't ensure that I won't have an allergic reaction. she claimed that she let the stylist know however whatever the stylist mixed the dye up with I still ended up having an allergic reaction my forhead has bumps on it my scalp is on fire from burning there is red sores throughout my head. I tried to wash my hair and put aloe oil on my scalp however this has been going on every since Friday 10/18 and today is 10/23 and I'm still experiencing burning and itching throughout my scalp.I spoke to an individual on 10/22/24 and let him know what happened and he said that's horrible he would inform the owner Ruth of what happened and because I had a bad experience see that I get my Money back. Well 10/23 I receive a phone call where that same receptionist is telling me that there is nothing that they will do because she did her job and told me that they couldn't guarantee the product will work. this is a dye that I always use and never had a reaction to. She said that "if I dye my hair on the regular than I will know that I have to use a peroxide developer " however if someone come in saying that they have an allergy to something before you decide to take the product in the back and start mixing things you should review the ingredients with the client instead of just mixing something together just because it says organic. I am a very understanding person and understand accidents happen but Not one time did her or the owner apologize for what happen not one time did they express any concern other than being in defense mode. This is very disheartening to know that I am experiencing a bad allergic reaction and the salon people that mixed my safe product with the product of their choice is showing no type of sympathy or providing any type of solution is very upsetting. They was better off acknowledging what happened apologizing and offering a solution and I would of been happy with that. I will now take progressive action.

Rhonda always gives me her honest opinion about the cut/color/style I want, and we always have a great conversation while she does my hair. The salon is smallish but very well decorated and clean. Everyone was very friendly and polite, and I was taken to a wash station immediately. I had originally booked my appointment for a deep conditioner with Rhonda, but was taken care of by Mikayla instead who did a great job with that and my two strand twists. The only thing I would suggest is confirming the beautician and the service being received when the customer first walks in so there's no confusion. The prices were very reasonable and I'll definitely be coming back.

I've even started bringing my teenagers who also prefer Laura's individuality and style. I would be incomplete if I failed to emphasize Laura's sense of humor, funny stories and charm. All that happened was that it ended up getting darker and darker and had what I thought was about 3 different shades of blonde. Finally I had it and went in search of a new salon. Now going to a new salon you don't know anyone and you don't know who you are going to be working with. Shira did my color and a cut. My word, you could not ask for a nicer person to do your hair. Shira and her boss spent over twenty minutes alone figuring out what products to use to get my hair ash blonde (the color I was asking for at the other salon but never got). Not only was my hair not even close to ash blonde it had at least 5 or more shades of blonde, yellow , orange and my roots. I was there for awhile but it did not even feel like it. Everyone was so nice and the salon is very comfortable. This is one of my favorite cut and colors I ever had, and I have been coloring for a LONG time now. Shira did an amazing job and I couldn't be happier. I definitely recommend Bijou. They are a little pricey but my hair was a disaster and I can't believe what a difference a couple of hours and a great stylist can do. The owners are so welcoming and accommodating. The atmosphere is sophisticated and chic. Many hair cutters/colorists do not give you specific information about what they will be doing and don't listen very well, but Colleen is extremely attentive and detail oriented. The results were pretty amazing, exactly what I had wanted -- we were both super excited! And she is a peach; I've always loved the vibe of the salon and the people who work there. It's no more money than the other salons in town but much more worth it, and doesn't feel like a factory.
