I recently got a new job and have been very busy from work (you know how it gets at the end of the year) so when I have time off, I try to spend it with my loved ones and relax. Welps, maybe I relaxed too much because I kept holding off from getting my bridesmaid dress altered and by the time I realized, there was only 2 weeks left to spare including the Thanksgiving weekend!! When I realize how much time is left, I start making calls to places that can give me a one week turnaround time. A few places turned me down and very few said yes, but I was hesitant due to their reviews. I had sent a message to Luxury Alterations and she was able to do it as long as I brought in the dress same day before 3 pm. I quickly ditched my sleeping boyfriend and drove my butt to San Mateo. I met Marine in person, and while I didn't end up needing any alterations for my wedding dress somehow, I felt the need to say something positive given the fact that they could have basically told me almost anything and I would have probably paid. I'm so glad I chose to work with Marine and her husband for my wedding dress alterations. I called in to schedule a consultation appointment and Marine was accommodating of my availability. I tried on the dress so that they can examine what needed to be done and give me an accurate price. My dress needed the length to be hemmed, shorten straps, take in the sides and add bustles (7 of them!) for my huge train. The rates they offered are competitive but still a good deal compared to others in the area so I decided to go with them. Prior to leaving my first appointment, Marine scheduled the next 3 fittings including pick date to ensure I had my dress in time for my wedding date. Each visit Marine was always so sweet, patient and didn't rush any work. By my 2nd fitting my dress started to really look and feel like mine and I knew I made the right decision in trusting them. Marine and her husband were wonderful! So professional, friendly and responsive. They were recommended by the bridal boutique I went to. The top of my dress was intricate with lots of beading. They were able to take in the rib cage and waist to help create an hourglass shape and keep the dress in place. I didn't need to pull up or tug on the dress even though it was strapless. It fit so well. Marine is refreshingly honest. She helped me save money by advising me to get higher heels rather than pay more money to get my dress hemmed (since it was really close to the length I needed). Luxury Alterations does not give any cost estimates unless they can see what needs to be done in person which i totally understand. When i brought in my dress to get an estimate their prices were very reasonable compared to other bridal salon alteration prices which can be very $$$. I needed to shorten the straps, shorten the hem, change cups, add a bustle and take in the sides. They were able to get everything done in about a month and even helped me make a super last minute alteration 4 days before my wedding!! They are experts in what they do.
