Do not go here. Save your time and energy. New ownership is destroying the business. My husband and I were staying in town for the night. We thought we'd enjoy a nice Sunday brunch before we hit the road. We called to place a to-go order and were told that the diner does not take to-go orders on the weekend. We then asked if we could put our name on the waitlist. The hostess said yes and we would be seated in twenty minutes. We arrived and had to wait an additional fifteen minutes beyond our original wait time. When it came time to order we were informed that the rib-eye my husband wanted was unavailable. However, the "caboose" was available... which was a rib-eye. We thought that was strange but placed our orders anyways. I ordered the country Benedict and asked for the "gigantic cinnamon roll." I was told they were out of the cinnamon roll until Tuesday. Okay, so then I ordered a half order of French toast. Twenty minutes passed and the waitress came and told us that my husband's order was not available. We were not surprised but were annoyed it took the staff twenty minutes to tell us. So he then orders something else with a side of corn and a salad. The salad never came. When our orders came out my "country Benedict" was missing the sausage entirely. The difference between the biscuits and gravy with two eggs and potatoes ($7.50) and the country Benedict ($10.00) is American cheese and two sausage patties. I asked for no cheese and when the order came out I was surprised to see zero sausage patties. When I asked why this was the waitress informed me it was because the sausage was in the sausage gravy. Unacceptable. I informed her they were selling the large order of biscuits and gravy ($7.50) as the country Benedict for $10 when they are the EXACT SAME THING. Extremely disappointing. Anyways, when my husband's order came his side of corn was missing. The waitress told us they were out of corn. His salad never came. The French toast never came. The online menu is not the same as in the restaurant. The new owners have changed classic recipes to be cost-efficient (I.e., removing key ingredients) and have dramatically increased the price (ex. Gigantic cinnamon roll is $5 online, but $7 in the store). The new ownership is driving this restaurant into the ground. The waitress was kind and extremely apologetic. However, the owners never apologized. From what I saw they were too busy apologizing to other tables facing similar situations. read more

If you are ever in Cheyenne, WY (and I hope you aren't very long), then this is the place you have to eat at. I-80 is a pretty bad stretch of fast foods. Stopping at a gas station in WY, some travellers asked the gas station attendants where to eat, which they replied "we don't like taco bell, we don't like mcdonalds, i would try that diner called...." this diner was not the luxury diner, but that was a headsup already about the food quality in those parts of the u.s. the corned beef and hash was truly, hands down, the best corned beef and hash i have ever eaten. It had incredible flavor and with real chunks of shredded meat! It's not all overly processed like it came out of a can, resembling catfood more so than human food. The service was great and the biscuits were hot, fluffy, and perfect with the butter and honey sides they give you. This was the best food my girlfriend and I had since we had left Oakland, CA en route to Michigan. If you're travelling across country, you have to make this a stop. I've eaten here for almost 18 years and it rarely disappoints. Truly a breakfast spot that ALSO serves a good lunch TOO. The corned beef hash as well as the corned beef sandwich is made in house. I should have paid attention to the latest reviews. The green chili burger was good as were the onion rings. The patty melt was over done and I'm not sure there were any grilled onions on it. We had the displeasure of attempting to eat breakfast at this place this morning. When we arrive the place was full and a couple of groups were waiting for tables. We gave our name to john. I don't know if he is the owner or manager. People continued to come into the so called dinner. When a spot opened at a counter they would just go sit down. John did say anything to them. The people ahead of his whose names were also on the list got seated. We should have had the next available table. But when one opened and before the table was cleared sat down. John said nothing to them. My wife said something to him that we had been waiting and were next. He shrugged his shoulders. At that point we left. Never will we return. And as we were leaving we told other approaching customers our experience in this place. Who knows if the food is worth a damn but if the kitchen is run like the restaurant I would not trust their food. read more

New owners!! Sad. This has been a local favorite for years and ran near full capacity. The new owners who have NO previous Resturant experience changed the menus and recipes. Stopped in for breakfast with 3 others while passing through Cheyenne. We had the green chili burrito, veggy omelet, corn beef hash, and a short stack of pancakes. All we excellent and portions were hardy. One in the group is from Pueblo, CO and knows her green chili and she said it was one of the better green chili burritos she has had. I had the corn beef hash and it was homemade and very good, just the right seasoning and cooked to a nice crisp texture. The pancakes were fluffy and very good, we couldn't finish the pancakes or any of the plates. Lots of tasty food for the price. Highly recommend for breakfast. read more

We found this place on yelp a few years ago and enjoyed our breakfast then so we returned, What a Cool old Divey Diner......It is always packed and hard to get a parking place, so we park across the street at the Microtel and walk across the street... The food is Classic Diner fare. Short order cooks,cranking out killer food... We had the Burgers today because it was lunch time... nothing like a great flattop burger with the works and some crunchy fry's.... .. we make this a stop for sure... the tattoo covered cooks and waitress's made me feel right at home...As I was leaving i felt compelled to give a shout in the kitchen at these guys who were cranking out the killer food,its always nice to hear from a customer and feel appreciated... I love breakfast food, like I could eat breakfast for every meal and finding a place like this is worthwhile. For greasy spoon real diners this rates five stars. We ate here only for breakfast and it certainly excels at that with no skimping on the fats and calories. It's a tiny place and always crowded. At times we've waited in line, and at times shared a table which was a pleasant experience. We've tried the pancakes, sausages, cinnamon rolls, etc.. All of it good and hardy breakfast. The decor is clearly not modern made to look old. It seems to be in two parts, one seems to be an old rail car and the other an attached small addition. With all the tables and people it's a dance to the back tables but well worth it. We've since moved from Cheyenne to Kansas City but I smile whenever I pull out my Luxury Diner coffee mug with the picture of the steam engine on it, and wish I were back there for more breakfast soon! read more

I have been meaning to write this review for quite some time now. My husband and I first started coming to the luxury diner back in September. We came because we had a Friday off of work and heard through the grapevine this was "THE" place in cheyenne. I will have to say I agree! The atmosphere is totally awesome, everyone is friendly as courteous! We have since then made this our every Friday morning breakfast stop. The food is nothing short of AMAZING. I have tried every breakfast item and I recommend them all! I currently love the Box Car with mushrooms and grits. I just can't get enough. This blows any chain restaurant out of the water. I can say we will never have breakfast at any other place in cheyenne! Keep it up Luxury Diner!!! read more

Holy Hell I loved this place. Not a lot of gluten free options, however, they work with you. I had an omelet and it was cooked to perfection. It seats only 68 people in the place and if you get there before the lines spill out the door you can sit where ever you like. Cool atmosphere and awesome staff. read more

This place is small but you get more than what you pay for. Food comes in large portions for a small price. Service is always good and friendly. A friend of mine who works for the WY DOT suggested this place to me for lunch. Clearly the name is a misnomer, and I was a bit hesitant to give it a try. However, I've been there several times for lunch and everything I've tried has been really good. My first experiment was with a French dip sandwich. We are here in Cheyenne visiting relatives, and decided to try a local breakfast spot. I consider myself a "chicken fried steak expert" and with all of the great "reviews" I tried it. BIG MISTAKE! This thing was a pre-breaded, frozen hockey puck that was simply thrown into a deep fryer and re-heated. On par with the CFS from Dennys, HORRIBLE! The gravy, straight from a CAN! If that was home made gravy then they need to fire the cook. It was horrible! I ordered one biscuit w/gravy instead of toast, and the waitress brings me a whole order of biscuits and gravy. HUH? We ordered a child pancake breakfast with no eggs, instead added an additional piece of bacon for our four-year old son. Par for the course it came with only one piece of bacon. My wife simply ordered two scrambled eggs and a biscuit. She gets a plate of scrambled eggs and no biscuit. She told the waitress she forgot her biscuit (right after I reminded her I only ordered a side biscuit w/gravy and not a whole order) She brings my wife's biscuit, and sets it next to me. (we are sitting across from each other). Did she already forget who the biscuit goes to? Terrible service, sub-par food. If you look up "greasy spoon" in the dictionary, this place would be an ideal candidate for the example. In fact, I'm a little surprised that tool Guy Fieri hasn't shown up at this destination yet. The menu is pretty standard diner fare with one noticeable exception-- most of the stuff they use is not mass produced. The corned beef hash is made with real corned beef and potato and doesn't come from a can. The burgers are fresh beef not a frozen premade patty. The green chili is spicy and delicious. In other words, they aren't cutting corners here and the result is above average diner food. The environment is that of a country diner. The service is friendly with a hint of surliness. Very Quaint and good food. Service was slow but we were there at a very busy time. Both of the two (and only) waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. I had the meatloaf special which was good, but I wished I had told them to cut the brown gravy. It came with bread pudding included and it was warm, gooey, and very good. Glad we stopped there. Lunched at LD based on previous reviews and were not disappointed. Steve's Chk Fried Steak was awesome as others suggested.... but the winner is the Green Chili! It smothered my huevos rancheros and I slurped up every bite. Our waitress was so friendly and very pleased that we found the diner on Yelp with good reviews. BTW, although the diner is filled with train memorabilia, the main room was actually a horse drawn trolley. Very cool place. read more

This is the epitome of a country diner! This seemed to be everyone's favorite place, from working gentleman to families to couples. There was all sorts of funky art on the walls, and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. I ordered the Santa Fe breakfast burrito, the small size, and boy was I happy I did. Everything from the eggs to the chili was great, and the portion size was perfect. My boyfriend ordered two eggs with bacon and potatoes, and he loved everything too. I was here for breakfast with a couple friends while in town. The first thing I noticed was the fun all-American decor and how busy it was (which is always a good sign!). Everything on their menu sounded delicious and the best part was that it was at a great price. Our waitress was very nice and the food came fast which was surprising given how busy they were.
