I had a great breakfast at the Luxury Diner this morning. The food was quick and delicious, the prices were quite reasonable, the cooks were accommodating about subbing in a salad instead of potatoes, all the veggies were very fresh, and everyone was friendly and helpful. My servers Alyssa and Denielle were particularly instrumental in making my visit so pleasant! They were kind and competent and pleasant and attentive. Not sure how to start with this little diner because I'm torn in two different directions They have a lot of good qualities going on for them, but there is definitely room for improvement. Let's start with Service: so we checked in at the front counter and was told it would be probably 20 to 30 minute wait time We actually got seated in about 10 minutes so there's a good quality number one Service was incredible. They are fast. They are courteous. They are friendly. There's another good quality. Food for the most part was actually really good. Good quality number three. So what are the downsides? There definitely is going to be a wait time depending on when you show up So I recommend you calling ahead and get your name on the list The food is actually really good, but the gravy could definitely use some more seasoning. The biscuits were good. The skillet was good, but the sausage was like little tiny crumbles instead of chunks of sausage, which is kind of disappointing But the green chili gravy that they put on top of the skillet was amazing next time I probably would try with like ham or bacon The hot chocolate is a definite No! It is instant hot chocolate deathly needs improvement Would I recommend this place, yes! And I would definitely come back to try some other options. And again the servers were incredible. Here from out of town & stoped here due to good ratings. It is a cute but older diner. Food was ok- except my brother's order was entirely wrong- wrong sides and wrong ingredients in the sandwich. When mentioned to server she offered a discount- I thought- ok-make up for it. Nope the discount was $0.70 on a $14.00 breakfast meal that was 100% incorrect. Likely opt not to come back. read more

Luxury Diner was even better than we expected -- and now I understand why it has been a Cheyenne favorite since 1926. The service was stellar, the food was outstanding, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was upbeat and energetic. It is the perfect place to start your morning. We stopped in for breakfast and had amazing pancakes with homemade maple syrup, along with an egg sandwich served on Texas toast and perfectly cooked hash browns. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and incredibly satisfying. We will be making weekly trips to Cheyenne over the next several weeks, and this will absolutely be our go-to breakfast stop every time we are in town. read more

I took a day trip to Cheyenne from Denver. I came here based on the good reviews and the fact that I wanted to find a good traditional Diner. This place certainly lived up to the hype. All the food was very good. It was prepared quickly and came out hot. The staff was very friendly and the ambiance was just what you'd expect from a traditional American Diner. This was such a great breakfast we went back multiple days in a row. (That is unusual for me.) The Luxury Diner turns out consistently high quality breakfasts. They have a lengthy menu so whatever you are looking for (breakfast or lunch) they probably have it. Our server was spectacular. She kept the coffee poured, served us promptly and made sure we were well taken care of. The prices are quite reasonable. Inside and out they have made the Diner look and feel like an old train car. What ever you do, try the "luxury potatoes" Wow, they were spectacular. Bacon delicious. High quality sausage. Fresh sourdough toast. What a find. It's like stepping back in time. We were seated at the round table in the antique rail car. What a treat! We learned that this was actually an old trolley used in Cheyenne back in the day. We ordered the chicken Fried steak (2 pieces of chicken) which is plenty to share, with the luxury potatoes, with onions and green peppers. Also the Philly Cheesesteak. The bun was a bit soggy, but tasted great! Such friendly service and very fast. We are so glad we ventured off the interstate to find it. read more

Best diner food I've had in a long time. Huge portions, good prices, and cute vibe. I got the ranchero and a huge waffle for the table, that was perfectly crispy and soft, and served with this house made caramel syrup (liquid gold)! I was so excited to come here after the reviews and pictures, but it must have been an off day for them. 50% of our meal was correct. The service was really nice, the place is very small so there isn't a lot of seating but enough when we showed up. There is no waiting room outside, but the menu is quite extensive and honestly good prices. I ordered an omelet and requested to have turkey in it, as I do not eat pork. She said that wouldn't be an issue and she would make a note for the cook. I ordered with it hashbrowns lightly done and toast, lightly done. And 1 biscuit as I wanted to try them. My meal came and my hashbrowns were very dark and I was very disappointed but not enough to send them back as I was too hungry and honestly didn't want to make her made. I did ask for my toast as she forgot it and requested it lightly done mentioning my hashbrowns were not ( my passive way to complain - but it didn't work). She made my toast as there the waitress makes the toast. I got it and by then I had noticed my omelet came with no meat, just cheese. I did inform the waitress and honestly, I was so hungry didn't care to send it back but honestly, she didn't ask either. She said the cook was slammed and there was only 1 cook. There were 4 tables including ours. Side note the cook screwed up another order as we are were at the end of the meal but she took his back. Said the same thing about he must have not read my note, see it is right there. At least she fixed his, though I think it was a bigger deal than my no meat. My partner got half order of sausage and gravy with a biscuit. He REALLY enjoyed this though there was way too much gravy or not enough biscuit for all the gravy he got. But as he said it was really good and I can't complain about that, especially for the cost. He was able to use my half biscuit for the rest of his gravy. The biscuit I got was dry. If it was homemade, it was reheated and not fresh. It wasn't the best I've ever had but I wouldn't order it again. When they buttered the biscuit and toast, they used that pre-melted butter with a brush, super healthy. But it is a small diner. We tried it, I probably wouldn't go back. My husband said he would for that if we were in the area, but we probably won't be. read more

The menu has changed since our last visit. I tried the Union Bell, which was delicious. It consisted of a split biscuit topped with sausage, a poached egg, and sausage gravy. I would suggest adding a potato to the dish if it is available. The service was more than satisfactory, and the train ambiance was the main reason we initially came here. read more

Yes... This is a real diner, since 1926. Very strong rail fan vibes are here. The menu is basic but complete. Don't expect fancy, expect solid food and kind service. Even the cook comes out to check on you. They have a kitchen tips jar. I had the green chili omelette. Very good and just a touch of spice. If I get here again, I am coming back. read more

We found the Luxury Diner in our drive from Chicago to Steamboat Springs, CO. We loved everything we had from the pancakes with the yummy maple butter syrup, the green chile burger and the chicken fried steak with the luxury potatoes. This is a great "blast from the past" diner! Every time I'm in Cheyenne I try to come here for at least one meal - the breakfasts rock! The building has charm, character and history. Ashley and the crew made our trip to this little gem of a diner so memorable! The first thing we took in was Ashley's incredible positive and enlightening spirit! WOW! She's beautiful inside and out! The diner was clean, quaint and had a fantastic menu. Second, It was hard to decide what we should eat. We settled on the chicken fried steak for Todd, a side of the fluffiest pancakes you've ever seen, and I had the rancheros. OMG the rancheros were outta this world!!! And so was the chicken fried steak! Get there early for their cinnamon rolls. We missed out and will have to make a trip back. And third, we loved how the cook asked diners how the food was. Wow I've never experienced that! The care and kindness of the staff is amazing! Be generous with your tip! And if you tip the cook and tell him his food is fantastic, he'll let you ring the bell! It's not the biggest diner in the world for sure but when you walk through the door you can tell you are in for some good homemade food that is worth the wait for your seat. The staff were very friendly and never let our drinks go empty. The breakfast satisfied every bit of sweet and savory we could have desired. The stuffed French toast was filling but left you wanting more of the flavor between those sweet pieces of bread. I was so excited about coming to this diner because of all the good reviews and the number of reviews...I mean all these Yelpers can't be wrong. We came in on Mother's Day as a group of 7, without calling ahead and I was afraid we wouldn't be able to be seated for awhile, but after explaining that we could be split up, they seated us immediately. Yes, it was Mother's Day so it was busy, but I'm afraid that like many places, they were short on staff. Our server Ashley was attentive and awesome, but there were some hiccups. She took our drink orders and it took a bit to get 2 coffees, 1 chocolate milk, 1 lemonade, and 3 waters. Ok, I get it, this place is packed. However, I was a little perturbed that she took the food order of the table behind us prior to taking our food order as that table was seated about 10 minutes AFTER us. The food tasted amazing but it came out an hour after we ordered. Once again, I get it, they were packed, but an hour seems a little too long. Other issues included my friend substituting their luxury potatoes for french fries, but received french fries and my other friend ordered huevos rancheros, but got an eggs benedict. There are definitely places to improve, mainly in communication, but if I'm in the area, I would come back, just not on a holiday. read more
