So, I turn to my handy Yelp app and the search turns up Luxury Diner, conveniently located close to my hotel too! I came on a Friday morning, before I had to head back to Denver to catch my flight. Thankfully it wasn't crazy busy for a summer morning, but I can imagine this place has long waits on the weekends. Anyway, I'm dining solo, so I opted for the counter. The ladies were fantastic! Quick to take my order (corned beef hash) and, of course, diner coffee. The corned beef hash was phenomenal!! Probably one of the best, if not the best, I've had!!! This is a home grown diner, so they make everything from scratch, and it tastes delicious! The meal came with 2 eggs, your choice of potatoes (I had the hash browns, next time I'll have the red potatoes, per one of the regulars I was chatting with) or grits, and a choice of toast or biscuit (I opted for toast, and let's just say they were not shy about using butter). Don't let the surrounding area be a deterrent. The motel next door and the area might give a "sketchy" vibe. HOWEVER, once you walk in this place it is really cute! The painting on the back wall makes you feel like you are in the caboose train looking out the back window. Food is PHENOMENAL! I showed up on a Saturday morning at opening time, I was the first customer in the door. I was greeted warmly. It is a true diner. I opted for the chicken fried steak, and I had to wait, because they just cleaned the fryer. The server was wonderful. She brought me extra coffee, she was very attentive and she brought me the green chili and white gravy at no extra charge. Simply just a great meal, especially considering I was in town during Cheyenne frontier days. read more

I have stopped twice for Breakfast on my travels through Cheyenne. Both times where very nice. The service is with a warm smile the coffee is good and hot and the food is wonderful. Wow wow wow!! So glad that I chose this place to eat. While my boyfriend and I stayed in Denver, we decided to take a day trip to Wyoming and stopped by Luxury diner for lunch. We came around 1pm for lunch and there wasn't a wait. Waiter was friendly and had a smiled on her face. Boyfriend got the Farmers Benedict which has sliced ham, tomatoes, Swiss cheese and spinach with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I got the Philly cheese steak and fries. Blink, and you miss it. I totally passed Luxury Diner the first time I tried to find it. It's connected/right next to the Wyoming Motel. Once you're inside, it's super cute! I loved the old-timey feel. I showed up on a Friday morning around 10:30am, and they were decently busy, but there were empty tables, so I was able to seat myself immediately. I placed my order as soon as I sat down, and my food was in front of me within minutes. I had the Biscuits and Gravy Bowl, which was very tasty. I really wanted to try the famous "giant cinnamon roll," but as of 10:30am on a Friday morning, they were already out, so I missed out on that taste bud adventure. If you're going solely for the giant cinnamon roll, you'll probably want to go as early as possible to better your chances of getting one. If I'm ever in Cheyenne again, I'd definitely come back just to try the giant cinnamon roll. read more

It's not super fancy, but it's a big pile of food and very friendly service. I opted for the "Santa Fe" breakfast burrito with chorizo. What arrived for my brunch meal was about two pounds of scrambled eggs, chorizo, potatoes, chili sauce, salsa and shredded cheese. Tasty stuff and plenty of it. Since 1926, and I can see why. Old railroad things such as pictures, books and even a rail at the counter. The place is set up like a dining car with a painted view of the RR tracks in the back. It is one block from a number of heavily used RR tracks. Old school. No music playing and no televisions. Saturday morning was busy and full of diners. We did not have to wait to get a table. All menu items were available at any time. The sign near our table said, "Good home cooking." It was correct. My wife and I ordered too much but here is what we had. Two huge old fashioned pancakes. The pancakes were as good as pancakes get. 5 star. Hash browns. Brown and crisp. They were good. 4 star. Mashed potatoe and gravy. Gravy tasted so good. 4.5 star. Large strips of quality bacon. Hamburger that was juicy and had a lot of taste. 4 star Fries that were a bit better than average 3.5 star Open face roast beef sandwich with a lot of brown gravy. Very good. 4.5 star. Had to take some food with me. Portions were large for everything except the French fries were a bit smaller than average portion. Our waitress was warm and helpful. Will visit this restaurant whenever I go through Cheyenne. It is open until 3 PM. read more

I was at this restaurant a couple of months ago with some friends from out of town. I would not have chosen Luxury Diner to take them to but they had looked up restaurants and they chose it. The service was awful!!! The food was barely edible! It took over an hour to get our food and we weren't there during busy hours. There were only two or three other tables in the Diner. Stopped in Herr because it was close to our hotel a day had decent reviews. We asked our waitress if the chicken fried steak was out of a box or hand breaded. Her response set the tone... Small little place, almost missed it. Outside is small and not ostentatious but once inside... it's cute and quaint and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Showed us the same dish we were considering and sold us on it. The Santa Fe burrito with the luxury potatoes was so good. The scrambled eggs in it were light and fluffy! Full of cheese and yummy refried beans. Little bit of heat, but not too spicy for the faint of heat. Green sauce... best I've had since being in New Mexico. Delish! Came here after pulling an all night job in Nebraska. Stopped at the hotel and asked about a good meal or breakfast and they sent me here. Was close to the UP rail track yard. It is an older place but they sure bring the food. Had two eggs sunny side up, hash browns, toast and biscuits and gravy. Had cold milk with this. Food was great, cooked like Mama. It is an older place but is clean and great taste. Restrooms were clean. That says a lot. Price was very reasonable. Will go back off in the area again. read more

@luxury_diner Founded in 1926, the old train cart has much quaint style. I sat under a pink neon sign of "Luxury Diner* and it cast a pink hue in the room. I arrived when it opened at 6am. It was dark outside. I ordered a grilled breakfast sandwich with bacon and a half order of biscuits and gravy. I was advised by the waitress that it was a heap O mess O food. She said the portions were large. Whoa. So I ordered a half order of biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. Coffee was good. H2o was good. A steady stream of locals kept arriving. Cheyenne is a smallish town compared to Denver. The people are friendly. The potatoes were super good, flavored awesomely with onions and green peppers. There were huge chunks of potato. The biscuits and gravy were unfortunately not very good. The biscuits tasted very doughy. The gravy was almost tasteless and very thick. I had to pepper it up. The bacon was 4 slices of crisp bacony goodness. Overall a great experience. I would return to try something else. Check it out. You'll be glad you did. read more
