I'm really disappointed with our visit to Luxury Nails last week. We paid about $185 for services -- a deluxe pedicure and manicure for me and a top-tier gel pedicure for my girlfriend. Despite tipping both technicians, the experience was painful and concerning. During my pedicure, the technician dug into my toes so aggressively that I had to physically pull my foot away from the pain. Each time I reacted, she kept saying "just a little more." That should have been the moment to stop. A service like this should never continue when a client is clearly uncomfortable. My girlfriend was also nicked during her pedicure, and her cuticles were over-trimmed. My fingernails were clipped much too short, which caused additional soreness. A few days later I called the salon because my feet had red spots and soreness that lasted nearly a full week. Their response was to offer that I come in so their insurance could see the issue. During that conversation they also explained that some technicians feel they must remove every ingrown or cuticle. In my opinion, it should never be about the technician's preference -- it should be about the client's comfort and safety. For context, I get pedicures at least once a month, and I have never experienced this level of pain or prolonged soreness. Mild sensitivity for a day or two can happen, but this lasted much longer and my big toes were especially affected. I declined their offer to return because after being nicked multiple times -- and my girlfriend experiencing the same -- I simply don't feel comfortable going back. It's also worth mentioning that it appears there are new owners or an entirely new set of technicians, as none of the staff I previously saw are there anymore. That may explain the noticeable change in quality. This review is simply to share our experience and encourage others to be cautious. Nail services should never involve repeated pain or technicians ignoring a client when they say something hurts. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. read more

I called before going in for a mani/pedi- no chip. I am aware the fast way of taking off the polish is to file it off. This also damages your finger nail at the same time. Because they file your finger nail as well. That's the burning sensation. I asked the boy to stop because it was getting hot. I am in a body brace so I am unable to stay in 1 position very long. The way you are suppose to SOAK the polish of takes about 10 minutes NOT 2 or 3. My first experience was amazing! I tipped very well! I wish I had gotten her name! I'm sitting in a Pedi chair as I type this The Nail Technician didn't like that she could not up sell me. I tried to tell her three times that she wasnt getting the ingrown nail out of two of my toes. What I think she said was she didn't understand what I was saying. Err! After painting my toes she placed the separator between my toes. Backwards process No top coat. She asked me to move to a drying area about 20 feet away and because she placed the separator after the polish she couldn't push in far enough. As I walked to the drying area they moved and smudged six toes. I told her immediately. She tried to correct one toe on each foot with just polish covering the mess up. I asked if she was going to put a clear top coat on her response was a head knod of yes. At that time she asked me to pay her $25.00, I handed her $30.00. That included a $5.00 tip to her. After further reviewing the messed up toes I called her over to show her all 10 were messed up and still no clear top coat. She had me return to the Pedi chair and was going to paint over the messed up sections. I told her not to paint over the messed up it will be to thick. She started to remove the polish with force. I told her "don't get mad at me, I didn't do it backwards" I think she said she's not. This was my first and last time here. Edited After waiting For the second attempt to correct the bad polish job I spoke with who said she was the manager and told her I wanted my money back. She refused to do that offer to repaint them again for the third time. I then advised her also that the girl never buffed my nails and my toenails are all ridged and bumpy. This place is very shady!! They "don't" have their prices displayed first of all . I asked how much my nails would be, then got charged an extra 20 dollars at the end of the visit. She claim their was a 20 charge for chrome color solid nails which she never bother to explained before hand. Ripped out my cuticle! The lady doing my pedicure seemed off, she was acting very slow and out of it. She then she pulled out the cuticle cuters and used them to peel off my cuticle backwards. She did this very very slowly! The first time she ripped out a piece on one of my toes I thought it was a mistake. She did it again and I was bleeding everywhere. I can't explain it but this felt very intentional. I have NEVER had an experience like this at a nail salon and I've been going to them for 25 years. This lady intentionally ripped out my cuticle and made me bleed. She did it slowly and watched. It still hurts and this is seveal hours later. The manager did treat my foot for the bleeding, but it didn't seem like anyone was listening when I was explaining what she did which means they will let it happen again. Since my last visit here the owner has really stepped up standards from what I see. Talks of renovation and remodels alongside with new licensed professional techs that are up to modern standards have kept me coming back even though I live 30 miles away. Spoke with the manager a bit while my girlfriend got her nails done. He's such a nice guy and really knows his craft, he even offered to fix my girlfriend's nails for free because he is so prideful in his work. I do notice something though, the ratings of the shop online clearly doesnt match with their services. It should be ranked higher than what it is now on yelp but the old reviews about the previous owner is really giving the new owner with amazing techs a hard time. It seems like they take their reviews very seriously and value each cliental that walks in the door from my conversations with other clients there! I come here for my Mani and Pedi. I like how they do my no chip Mani but it does get a bit pricey. I signed up for their rewards card so that I can get my future Mani or Pedi's discounted or even free. My tip would be to use it if you are paying for more than one person. My hubby comes with me for Pedi:) He likes to be pampered too, LOL! The place is clean and inviting with a Spa like feel to it. They have about 3 TVs to watch, they offer pop or bottled water as well. I have curved toe nails so if you do too, tell the front desk to hook you up with someone who is good to cutting your toe nails for that! It's so worth it. With basic pedi (they also have other special that they would show you on a card of price and descriptions), they also include a quick below the knees down to the toes massage, hot rock massage, and hot cloth with a choice of scented lotions while on an electric massage leather chair sipping on your complementary drink. I wish they would have updated magazines to read though. There's a lot of them to serve you, I usually do walk in with no appointment but I ask for certain people to do my toes. It does get pretty busy on a Friday night or Sat/Sun during the day. It's best to come during week when it's dead. Since it's off a stripmall and the wait is long, sometimes I would walk next door or get a quick bite to eat in Portillo's. I would come back, they are friendly people if you don't mind the language barrier too much or they talk amongst themselves. I complimented someone I work with on her silver metallic nails and asked where she got them done...it was this place. I was super excited about getting my own no-chip chrome metallic manicure so I called & made an appointment, only I didn't ask how much this particular manicure cost....my appointment was at 6pm on a Monday - there was no wait, but the place was semi-crowded so probably good to make an appointment anyway. When I got there I questioned the metallic options and I was told for 10 fingers $50!!!! Unless that manicure is lasting a good month or more...I don't think so. I settled for a no-chip manicure which was $35, and I was very happy with it. It was done last night so now to see how long it lasts. This place is pretty big, HUGE selection of nail polish & clean. I usually get the full shebang pedi @ $45 a pop..yea, it hurts the wallet, but I get a back massage, my feet get some loving and I get to chill for an 1 hr. But they do have one for $25 too :). I love the hot rock massage along with the hot towel, but I REALLY love the paraffin. My mom and I have been going here for years for our pedicures. They are usually great and we always enjoy our visits. We visited today to get pedicures done, and it was the worst experience we've had there. Both ladies who did our pedicures (did not get their names) completely rushed through them. We typically get the standard pedicure, which is what we got today. Usually they ask you which lotion you prefer and they use that when giving the massage. They never even used the lotion, which was very disappointing. The store was not busy at all, so there was no apparent reason for them to be rushing through our pedicures. As I said before, we've been going there for years and have never encountered a problem like this. But if this continues, we will not be returning. For the price we pay for our pedicures, the women should take their time with them and make them as enjoyable as possible. read more

This place is anything BUT luxury. I had to give them a star in order to write a review but really they don't deserve it. Walked in on Sunday afternoon with my sister and two nieces an hour before they closed and all the people that worked there seemed irritated that they had customers. (If they did not have time to assist us, all they had to do was tell us that). Instead they scurried about acting as if we were a burden and then tried to charge us full adult pedicure prices for simple polish changes for my 4yo and 7yo nieces! Several employees asked both my sister and me over and over who was paying for our services. They seemed more interested in who was paying them and getting their money from us than actually providing nail services. They didn't have two colors that I chose (very basic ones that every other nail place has) they stabbed my sister's finger, causing her to bleed and her entire finger to swell up, and did not seem to care at all. There are so many nail places in Elmhurst very near this one. I recommend anyone try ANY other place than here if you want good or even decent customer service. We usually go to Stella nails on north avenue (which is GREAT) but they sadly could not take us all as walk ins. Lesson learned, we will make an appointment at Stella in the future and NEVER return to "luxury" nails. I strongly recommend anyone reading this do the same. read more

I received a manicure and pedicure. Never again. Hot water was broken. I figured this out as I was placed in cold water no explanation. I then had a ingrown nail removed without asking. The pedicure was okay. The manicure was horrible. I could have done that at home. To make up for the cold pedi water I received scalding hot mani water. I'm a nurse and have horrible dry cuticles from hand washing . The cuticle removal that was done was beyond horrible. The best thing I can say is at least I didn't bleed like my toes did. And to top it off I was accidentally overcharged. Which thankfully was corrected. What would've been nice is an apology from the manager whom was clearly there fixing the chairs. Horrible service will never go back. Update 1/29/19 Manager says the chairs and water were never broken. So that means I was just put in freezing cold water and no one cared. #kthanks read more

This place is hit or miss. I always walk in and there are times I can be sat right away, and others that has a 40 min wait. That's to be expected for walk in. The quality is what varies between technicians. There are some that are great mani/pedi, and others that move too fast, cut my cuticles, and have mistakes on the nails. read more

I went in last night to get a full set acrylic nails. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. The man who worked on my nails did it in such a rush and didn't take his time to pay attention to detail. When it came time to paying, the bill came back at $30... I believed I was falsely charged since the service booklet states it's $25... I didn't get a no chip or any other additional services to make it $30. I don't mind paying that amount if the job was well done, but the paint job was a bit messy and my cuticles weren't even cut. Not coming here again. read more
