I absolutely love Dr. La! I started going to her 5 years ago and built a relationship with her and her staff. I moved to Pasadena and just returned back to Costa Mesa area after being gone for 4 years. I lost my glasses and determined it was time to get my eyes checked again so called her office and made an appointment. She remembered me like it was yesterday and we had a great time catching up. Finally a doctor who cares about her patients and really takes the time to get to know them. The eye exam was easy and quick and within one week I had a brand new pair of glasses. I have been going to Stein Optometric for many years to see Dr. La. Everything and everybody there is fantastic. The office is always clean and organized. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. I had an appointment just the other day and it was the first time I went on my own and I always have trouble picking new frames. I mean, it's a tough decision! The ladies in the office helped me with selecting frames, and they're very patient. Dr. La is a wonderful doctor. She is thorough in her exams and explanations. She is also very kind and easy to talk to. I marked "Not Sure" on the "By appointment only" section only because I've never tried a walk-in. I'm a big believer in appointments haha. I really wish I could give LVC Optometry and Dr. La a better review. I had been going to this optometry office for several years and Dr. La was always very kind and professional, and we would always spend a good deal of time chatting and laughing during my appointment. I never had any reason to consider another optometrist. Last year's experience, however, was very disappointing. I went in for my annual exam 9 months pregnant a few days before my scheduled C-section. I wanted to get my contacts ordered before the baby came so I wouldn't run out and have to worry about going in for an appointment while recovering from surgery and having a newborn to take care of. Dr. La was super sweet and was so excited for me since we had always chatted about her children and my plan to eventually have my own. The exam went fine and I ordered my contacts - finally one-a-days were available in my prescription strength so I was excited to not have to deal with monthlys anymore. To be honest, I don't recall if we had discussed trial contacts or what happened, but I received a year's worth of the daily contacts shipped to my home about a week after my baby was born. I didn't even think twice and just began using them. At first everything seemed OK with them; but like I said, I just had a baby, was recovering from surgery, and trying to survive on two hours sleep a night. A couple of months later I started noticing that I could not see the digital clock on my TV stand clearly from the couch and I also had trouble reading the signs on the freeway - the letters would double and be blurry. I called the office and spoke with Dr. La. To my surprise, she was very un-sympathetic and chastised me for not picking up my trial contacts and opening the new boxes before I used my trials. I told her I didn't know I had any trials. And she told me that we had discussed it at my appointment and I had told her my husband would come pick them up and that they had tried to call me but were not able to get ahold of me. Despite the fact that she was being very short and annoyed with me, I apologized and said that with the baby and everything happening it must have slipped my mind and told her that I did not have any voicemails from the office advising me about the trials (I really didn't). She was very irritated but told me to schedule an appointment; she would order me some trials of a different brand she thought might work better and to bring what I had left of my order of contacts and perhaps we could exchange them. I thanked her and made the appointment, but frankly, I was quite angry with the way she was speaking to me as if I was a child. My husband was out of town on the day of the appointment and I arranged for my sister-in-law to stay home with my son while I went to the appointment. When I got there, I was told by the receptionist that they're very sorry, but the new trials haven't come in yet. I told them no one had called me, and she confirmed that no one did, it didn't come up in the computer or something of the sort. I was annoyed. Then I saw Dr. La and she gave me a very un-authentic apology, didn't say anything else to me. Honestly over the years I had really gotten to like her and I was so shocked she was being so rude, didn't ask about my baby or anything. I said OK, please call me when the new trials come in and I'll set up another appointment. The receptionist assured me she would. I NEVER got a call back. I didn't even bother following back up after that awful experience. I just dealt with the slightly blurry/uncomfortable contacts for the year and then found a new optometrist - who I just saw and really like. I now have new contacts that work great. Despite being a long time customer, I cannot give LVCO/Dr. La a good review because I feel I was treated very badly. read more

Dr. La and her staff have shown me a completely different optical experience. I learned so much about the actual health condition of my eyes aside from just my eyeglasses' prescription. Honestly, who knew you can tell if you're diabetic from your eyes? Dr. La was very thorough in her explanations along with being personal. And this office has up to date technology. None of that horrible air shooting machine. Her staff were very knowledgeable. There's so many frames to choose from! They actually had my favorite brand, salt. The staff really helped me out on choosing the right frame for my facial features. If not for them, I'd probably would've been there for hours deciding. I'm so glad I found LVC optometry. Care is great. Detailed eye exams.....but wayyyyy too expensive. After insurance I spent $1100 for a pair of glasses for myself and glasses and 3 months of contacts for my son. I've been going here for years, but I have to find someone new....just can't afford it! read more

I have been going to LVC for a few years now. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Dr. La is knowledgeable and keeps up with technology and the latest in her field. I recently had an issue with the lenses for my new glasses. The staff quickly identified the problem and ordered new lenses. Within about a week my glasses were fixed and the problem corrected. I understand that sometimes issues occur with product. The question is how someone deals with addressing that issue. LVC really stepped up and handled the issue without hesitation.
