I've been a member at Ly's since January 2026. I started with zero dancing, gymnastic, or pole experience. I've taken classes with Ly, Jane, and Katya and they're all amazing instructors! They are incredibly supportive in my growth and skills. I encourage everyone I meet to try it at least twice because the classes are so liberating!! Come prepared with socks, knee pads, a sports bra, and shorts. After warm ups, the first half of class is choreo and the second half is for tricks. Don't BS your technique because the instructors prioritize technique and safe movements!!! The environment is so welcoming, too. I've made friends with the regular girls I see in class. I've been going to Ly's studios for a few years now. I started in pole L1/2, now attend L2/3, and have taken some silks L1/2 classes. I've attended classes with Ly, Yisha, Jane, Yoko, Jo, Katya, and some other guest and sub instructors. There are a variety of classes offered for a fair price point. Each instructor has their own teaching style, but they all focus on student success and encouragement. I originally started pole dancing as a way to honor myself and my body, and with the help of the instructors, I've gained a level of self confidence that I never had. If I ever need to cancel class, Ly always checks to make sure I'm okay and asks if I need anything. Even though she has a lot of students, she's very caring and mindful of each individual. The classes are structured with a warm up, the instruction and practice, time to record/practice independently, and a cool down. The instructors provide hands on spotting throughout class and will walk you through any move to ensure safe techniques to avoid injury or troubleshoot if a move isn't working for you. Instructors will also provide simpler or more advanced variations of one move to ensure access and a challenge for each student. I am a pretty sensitive and shy person, but the community at this studio helps me break out of my comfort zone with a lot of positive encouragement. Ly's Pole Studio - L 2/3 pole class - Pole Dancing Classes Near Me - San Jose, California

I took two aerial silks classes here with Asia a while back, and it was awful. For my first class (Aerial Silks Level 2), I came prepared and trimmed my fingernails beforehand, as this studio requires it. Upon arrival, the instructor inspected my nails, handed me a nail clipper, and told me to cut them even shorter. I've trained at multiple studios, including Circus Center in SF, and have never had this requirement taken to this extreme. The studio uses an aerial rig that requires tying on a frame, and when I didn't know how to adjust the silks, the instructor seemed annoyed at having to explain it. During the class, she demonstrated a silks sequence twice, expected us to follow, and when I had difficulty, she told me to move to the Level 1 class. So, my second (and final) visit was to Aerial Silks Level 1. Asia still seemed irritated that I didn't instantly know how to rig the setup; this was only my second time there. Class started 15 minutes late, with just three students total. We then spent the entire hour doing inverts in a knot behind the back. I'm not exaggerating, nothing else for the whole session. When I asked to try something different, I was ignored and told we wouldn't move forward until my invert had zero knee bend. After 30 minutes of nonstop inverts, anyone's legs would fatigue. I've never had such an unpleasant, condescending experience with a teacher. I wasted a session credit on a class that not only started late but also taught me nothing. read more

I've taken four Lyra classes at this studio, and it's been good overall, depending on the instructor. I really like Joanie--she's very encouraging and teaches well. However, not all instructors are like that. I had a substitute once when Joanie was out, and the experience was just okay. Sometimes I have to share a hoop, and other times I get my own, which depends on how many people show up. I do wish there were more class times available, as it's currently only offered on Sunday afternoons. Also, the hoops could use more frequent rewrapping since they're starting to fall apart and get slippery. read more

Luna is a fantastic hammocks instructor! I loved her class on Wednesday evening. As a first-time student at Ly's Studio, Luna made me feel comfortable and overall I had a great experience! I am looking forward to taking her class again. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the Open Aerials session the following evening. I was unaware that students were responsible for hanging their own rig, so I was confused upon arrival. The instructor I spoke to was a bit rude and condescending and she even sighed/groaned when I said I didn't know how to set anything up! I understand Open Gym means no aerial instruction will be given, but the class description doesn't indicate rigging as a prerequisite. Another student was kind to teach me, but out of the handful of studios I've attended, I don't think self-rigging is the norm, so some patience and understanding in this topic would have been appreciated! read more

(I'm writing similar reviews for both the Santa Clara and San Jose locations, but will point out the differences in terms of location/parking) purchased a 6 class package before deciding if I wanted to pursue the membership (spoiler alert: I did will not be moving forward with a membership). I have only been poling for 5 months, so I am still very new. I took the fundamental pole L1/L2 for all 6 of the classes I purchased. instructors i've gotten included: Jane, Alex, Yisha and Katya pros: 1) after the warm up, there's a lil pole flow/choreography you learn - i appreciated this because transitional/fluid moves is something i want more of at this point of my journey 2) you get your own pole (this can be a con too as you get tired easily) 3) instructors will go around and help you individually. i truly appreciate the spotting and tips+tricks from them cons: 1) lack of variety for pole beginners. i was only able to take the fundamental L1/L2 pole classes (this studio has aerial hoops and hammocks and flexibility classes too but i'm only interested in pole and/or dance). the L1/L2 classes got a lil mundane / stale for me. other studios in the bay area offer a lot of beginner levels (and even open levels) for pole strength/ fitness, pole choreo/flow, pole heels, chair dance, etc. 2) the amount of times I've gotten my instructors changed were pretty often. with my 6 class pack, I wanted to take classes with as many different instructors to see which one i'd like the most. I tried booking with ly on a couple of occasions (I have yet to meet her) but I kept getting notifications that the instructor was getting switched out. 3) while both studios are equipped with kneepads, spray bottles, liquid chalk - I didn't see any crash pads made available. nor do the instructors advertise that we use them if we are scared? from time to time- my fear of hitting my head comes a creeping, it would help if crash mats were readily available or encouraged to use by the instructors 4) while there is music playing in the background. it's not really utilized to dance to. it's just background music to fill the "empty sounds". going back to my con #1 -- while the L1/L2 is more fitness focused, I would've liked the flow portion to be more in tune with music. it feels too serious!!! Santa Clara location: parking may be hard to find depending on what time of day but it's nearby so many good food places. also near the Santa Clara farmer's market on Saturdays!!!! San Jose location: located in a plaza, so parking is a plentiful! doesn't matter what time of day you are visiting, there's always going to be a spot. not as walkable to other stores/eateries but there are some restaurants in the plaza. read more

I've only tried the acro pole here but OMGOODNESS WHAT A TREAT! There are different "styles" of pole (ex: Russian exotic, classic competition, bendy, etc) and I've realized that one of my favorite styles is "Acro pole" (I never knew the name for it!) which is basically a lot of press ups and handstands and cool static moves. To be honest, I initially felt out of my element and had a fleeting feeling of "am I in the right class or am I looking a fool right now?" because Mikey is shredded, strong, and instantly does a move that looks so easy but you'd think it was something that only IG influencers or acrobats could do. Also, all of the other participants have been going regularly so they seemed a lot more comfortable watching and doing the sequence than I did. However, Mikey is a GREAT instructor and so very technical that it makes learning the moves in your head a breeze; doing the moves, however, is a different story but that requires practice and that's why you go to this class! Mikey spends her time in between instruction spotting everyone (she can literally hold you or help press you up--it's amazing) and she gives each individual personalized advice/pointers to get the moves right. Her instruction will guarantee safety and success if you follow what she says and I'm always flabbergasted by how well she can describe something from how internally rotated you should be (or not) to where your weight shifts as your start to raise your hips. All those little details are key to getting the feel for the moves and she is just so good at that. Also, the participants in the class are all so supportive and encouraging before, during, and after class, which made me feel like I belonged even though I was incredibly challenged throughout the entire class. I could see myself feeling discouraged or intimidated if not for such a great instructor and caring members. Now I feel inspired and strong (every bit of progression is improvement!) and I want to do SO MUCH MORE! It's a shame I can't come consistently, but I will definitely be back when I get the chance. read more

I've taken four beginner pole classes at Ly's Pole Studio (2 classes with Ly and 2 with Yisha) and my experience has been phenomenal. Starting something new can be very intimidating but it is especially so for me since I'm a guy and pole dancing is predominantly done by females. However, both Ly and Yisha made me feel so welcome in the studio. They're very approachable. They've also been extremely supportive and helpful in starting my own pole dancing journey. Ly is also hilarious during instruction which is the cherry on top making the class even more enjoyable. The beginner pole class is taught in two parts: pole choreo, followed by tricks. After instruction of the choreo or tricks, some time is given to the students to try it out on their own and during this time the teacher will individually help out each of the students. I really like this balance. Ly and Yisha also give students ample opportunity to ask questions and work on specific things that they did not understand. Aside from the teachers, when I go to open pole studio, the more experienced students have been very helpful in giving a newcomer like me pointers and tips. I love the community that they have here. I really wish I had discovered Ly's Pole Studio sooner! read more

I've been going to Ly's Pole Studio for the past 2 years and love the instructors and the other students. I've taken pole classes with Ly, Amy, and Mikey and they always have something fun and challenging to teach. They come up with great combinations and make me feel safe whenever I'm working on a tough trick. I learn so much in every class. The other students are really supportive and provide a great community. LOCATION: There's a gorgeous mural on the back wall and 2 bathrooms with showers. Plenty of free parking in the lot. There are eight 10+ feet poles here and students typically don't have to share. read more

I came here with a friend to try out aerial silks for the first time in our lives. We weren't sure what to expect, but we walked out stronger. In terms of booking, it seems like the timetable link on the site doesn't work. Currently the url is /timetable2. However, it seems by removing the 2 to just /timetable, the schedule comes out properly. Asia was very clear and explained everything thoroughly throughout the setup process and the fundamentals. I felt very safe given the studio's precautions regarding COVID. All students will sanitize the equipment both before and after use. Moreover, Asia will take your temperature before starting the class. I really liked how small the class size was, because that allowed Asia to personally help each of us with our form and technique. Without the help, I'm not sure if I could have even gotten a quarter of anything. The instructor is pretty strict, but for good reason. After all, no one will be happy if we break an ankle. I have a newfound respect for people who do aerial silks. The whole session was an intense workout (also maybe I just have no muscles). I haven't pole for 5 years and want to resume pole dancing this year. I wasn't sure what class I should start with, and I booked a fundamental L1/L2 with LY at first. But then I realized I actually met the requirements for L2/L3, as I can do Figurehead to Aerial Inversion, Forearm climb, basic climb, Inversion to Jasmine, Outside leg hang, Inside leg hang, Legs switch, side switch, Brass Monkey sit, Brass Monkey hang, Butterfly, Superman. I reached out to LY, and she was very patient and helped me switch me to Static pole L2/L3. The class was great. I really like the energy of the class. There were around 9 students in the class. LY is very experienced and can take care of every student in the class. She also pointed out my existing problems and helped me fix them. It was a great experience dancing with LY!! I can't wait to learn more pole tricks at LPS. I also want to try out their pole heels classes :) read more

My sister and I really wanted to try aerial silks for the first time so we found this place. We signed up for one class which costed us $30 each. This place was pretty easy to find and there was plenty of parking. When we arrived (approximately 10 minutes early), we were told to wait outside. Our instructor, Asia, arrived exactly on time and let us into the studio. She started off by having us clean everything with sanitation spray. She also made sure that we were wearing the proper attire and was ready for class. Unfortunately, Asia said that my sister's nails and mine were too long. She provided us with nail clippers to cut them but she determined they were too sharp even after cutting them. We ended up having to sit out for the class, but she said that they may be able to offer us a refund or make-up class. However, we got neither. Both my sister and I were unaware about having short nails. When we asked to see where in their website this information was, we had to go through a series of webpages to find the part that said to come with short nails. Since this seems to be a critical piece of information, it should be included in the "Proper attire" section right under the class description for aerial silks so no one else runs into this issue. I wish our experience here had ended up differently but unfortunately it didn't and we'll be going to a different studio to do aerial silks instead. read more

This was my second ever pole dancing class and I have to say this is the great studio I've been to. The instructor was very friendly, helpful, and motivating. I went to a beginner's class and she really broke down seemingly complex moves to make the routine actually doable. I have limited coordination and was able to do the things so I would recommend this class for anyone hesitant on trying pole dancing because of athletic ability or otherwise. It was so much fun and a great workout. I booked online ahead of time and went with a group of friends. This was certainly a memorable experience and we're already planning on coming back. Make sure to read the booking page, bring socks and wear shorts and a form fitting top with sport bra for women. I spent most of the class barefoot though since I felt like it was easier to move around. The class was an hour but I learned so much and even did an inversion. It's inspiring to find out what your body can do without you knowing until you try. The studio is extremely clean and they have plenty of cleaning supplies after your class. did their aerial class and honestly was not a fan. 1. instructor was late and 2. we had to set up and do all our own rigging for individual silks which took up time bc she had to teach us. 3. just did conditioning exercises the entire time and climbed the silks for literally 5 minutes at the end before stretching cool down. it was no one's first time doing silks either so I expected to learn more. no make up for the lost time since there was a class after. felt like a waste of time and money. there are definitely better classes in the Bay Area where you will learn and progress more for what you pay. read more

This place is AMAZING. Learned about this studio from a friend who has been coming here ~2x a week for the past 2 years or so. She took me to a Beg 1/Beg 2 and I was hooked! I took one other pole dance class at Twirly's in Pleasanton from a GroupOn deal which was more of an "intro" promo class for fun. Classes here at Ly's will give you a REAL workout with RESULTS. I've come here about once a week for a month and I have seen tremendous progress in my fitness and dance abilities. Ly taught me inverts and beginner somersaults in no time! *Note: I do have a couple years of dance experience from doing colorguard, hip-hop and filipino folk dance. I like to push myself pretty hard on my workouts, and these classes leave me crawling out of the studio at the end (which is exactly what I want!). The best part is that Ly tries to give each student a bit of 1-on-1 attention during the classes so you can continue to improve in an individualized manner. As someone who has zero dance experience, very little flexibility, and almost no coordination, Ly welcomed me and has been patient with my learning process! Ly is a great teacher with a lot of experience and patience. I'd you don't get something right away, she finds a different way to show you. I didn't know my friend didn't pay yet, and we certainly wouldn't have taken your class without paying -- it was a mistake made by first time clients not used to your platform. I apologize for not saying "thank you," but I certainly didn't storm out as you said. I left without saying "thank you" because I felt extremely shaken and uncomfortable, and didn't want to be yelled at anymore in front of strangers. I hate to write negative reviews of small businesses, but I'm so disappointed in my experience with this studio's lack of professionalism and urge other potential customers to proceed with caution. Some background: I grew up in the Bay Area, but I live in LA and attend a few different pole dance studios in the area. They are all run incredibly efficiently, with booking and payment all handled online, and the owners have help from people who manage the studios. I contacted Ly well in advance to set up a private lesson for me and my mom while I was visiting from LA. She took a little while to respond to my emails, but I figured as the owner of a studio she was probably very busy. I was excited because Ly trained with the owner of a studio I attend in LA, so I knew I would get a good lesson. We decided on a time (9am on a Saturday) and she gave me the details of the studio location, pricing, strict cancellation policy, etc. She seemed very eager about our lesson, and the pricing was very fair ($50/person paid in cash). This was all done via email, and there was nothing to book on MindBody despite the fact that they have a site set up (which she asked me to sign up for), but I trusted that she had it figured out since she is the studio owner. My mom and I arrived pretty early but were fine waiting it out since we knew we weren't scheduled until 9am. The studio is located in a small business center off of Montague with ample parking. The location doesn't have any signage, just the suite number. There was a pad lock on the door, so we just waited in the car. 9am came and she wasn't there, so I waited and left her a voicemail at 9:10, and sent her an email as well. I didn't get any response at all, so after waiting nearly 30 minutes past the beginning of our lesson time, we decided to leave. I called again and no one answered, so I left a voicemail to let her know we were leaving, and emailed her as well. In fact, I haven't heard from her at all since we confirmed and she sent details, two weeks prior to the private lesson. I set aside the entire morning on my only full day in the Bay Area in anticipation of this lesson. My mom also took time out of her own schedule and had forgone a cycle class to go with me to this lesson. I understand that things come up, but if there was any reason that she could not make it, I would expect a notification, especially given their own strict 24 hour cancelation policy. She emailed me much later in the day and told me that she forgot about our appointment--a far cry from how accommodating she was and how excited she said she was in her emails. I cannot attest to how the rest of her business model is, but I wouldn't recommend setting up any privates here. read more

I attended my first aerial silks class for beginners last week and had a blast! The instructor was incredibly helpful and took time to show my friend and I how to set everything up. The studio followed good sanitation practices - we disinfected our own mats and cushions before and after use, and everyone wore masks during class. The girls in the class were all friendly and willing to help a new girl out. Good vibes all around! Would definitely come back and take more classes. read more

My friend won a free class in a raffle and asked if I wanted to try pole dancing since she already had a membership. I was excited because it was on my bucket list of things to try and who can deny a good work out? I honestly didn't know what to expect, but thought it would be fun. This is definitely one of those reality vs. expectations situation where you think it's going to be super awesome, but instead you end up super pissed. The instructor for that day was Kelsey and I will say that I will never return nor recommend this studio based on my experience with her. She was well aware that it was my first time EVER. Instead of providing modifications and support, she forced me to do 2 hours worth of advanced moves that I was completely uncomfortable with. Did I voice my concerns? Yeah. Did she give a ish? Not really. The only positive thing I walked away with was my newfound respect for strippers cause that ish ain't easy! I have taken Ly's class back when she was doing it out of her apartment a few years ago. I just returned to her class today and it was exactly as I remembered it. I look forward to moving on into Beginner 2/ Intermediate 1 and I love the fact that she will let you know when she thinks you are ready to advance. She is also offering open studio time now (since she has a nice and spacious studio area) so I'll be able to practice throughout the week, despite me not owning a pole myself. If I remember correctly, she also sells poles so if you are looking to get a pole and take her class, I recommend it! The class is moderately sized 8-12 people and sometimes we need to share the pole, but this ends up being better since the person you share a pole with can help point out things you are doing wrong. Ly also asks each student to show her the mini routine that she shows the class and then helps each student individually if they are messing up on something. Ly is overall very nice and I enjoyed taking classes with her again! 10/10 would recommend. read more

I'm so impressed! I've taken all types of classes from dance to yoga, aerial, tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, hooping...and certainly pole. I've been to an array of group classes led by instructors at every skill level. I am very certain that Ly is an extremely advanced instructor. It's very clear that she is dedicated to her students progressing and learning.. She is very thorough and direct. One of the most important qualities of a good teacher is that they believe in you more than you believe in yourself. She definitely has this quality. With Ly's guidance, I overcame fear and pushed my limits and I am confident that this will continue in each and every future class! Her space is currently temporary and is rather small, but I can't say it matters at all. Where ever she teaches, she'll have a following-as she's an incredible teacher.
