I have been going to M&M videogames for years and have had no problems with the products/items I've bought or the prices I've paid. I just found that the management and work ethic was interesting to say the least. Mike the owner, is a very charismatic guy who makes me feel welcomed when I go in every time(still to this day). But his coworker Jay I found to be rather interesting to say the least. I found(still find it) uncomfortable when I walk in and hear Jay yell at his son for playing fortnite on the main tv inside the store. The yelling isn't the only thing off-putting, I've had Jay make vile comments about other costumers right in front of my face. As a loyal costumer to the store I have had these feeling for years and I feel the need to share this information. read more

I've made the mistake of entering this business multiple times, thinking the experience would be quick and painless. The employees are rude, condescending, and unhelpful-- which works to their benefit, because it helps to strong-arm customers into buying overpriced product. Not once has it looked like someone was actually working there upon entering, and when you're finally acknowledged from their cave in the back, you're addressed as though you owe them something simply for existing. They don't have a return policy, and offer exchanges at reduced prices, claiming that they won't sell a used product for full price-- which is almost certainly a lie, if the lack of integrity that that emanates from every corner this place (or is that the smell of urine?) is any indication. read more

Large selection of games for systems that other stores just don't carry. Cases of NES, SNES, GBA, GBC, Wii, XBox, XBox360...If you want a game right away, this is a good place to take a look. I spent roughly 25 minutes in there today and was a little overwhelmed by all of the choices actually. Would be nice if they had stations where you could try out the titles. There might be a way to display the carts in less retail area and have a spot for people to try out their purchases. read more

This store has an incredible selection of goods. I've seen things from a Panasonic 3DO to all things Atari. But, Selection is not everything. Every time I have been there I have felt they have had a "hurry up and buy mentality" and depending on the time of the day the workers can either be in a bad mood or an okay mood. They are never extremely helpful or knowledgable. My main gripe has nothing to do with me. I am an educated retro gamer and know what I'm looking for, but for all the uneducated consumers who come in, it seems like they have no problem steering them towards things they may or may not want. Some examples: (Minor gripe: No explanations) I saw a little girl come in with her dad looking for a gameboy and she was directed towards a gameboy color. They never explained to her that a gameboy advance would be allowed to play advance games, color games, and regular gameboy games. She was rather drawn to the color of the gameboy. She then chose a terrible game in that little girl vein like barbie or Bratz or something. They didn't think to explain the consequences of her decision or recommend any other products. (Major Gripe: Not Knowing what you have) This happens a lot for me, people come in sometimes when I'm in there selling their entire collection of games, systems, and the like to ridiculously low-balled prices. They always say they give better than gamestop prices but that's because Gamestop will not buy an old super nintendo, sega genesis, and the like. There are also several reviews on here where people were low-balled for modern games. Other Issues: (My Major Gripe: Consumer Has to win) I am an active video game collector. The 2 worst times I had at the store where when I noticed a game for gameboy was underpriced and the other time was an NES game. Both games were both mispriced. What happened next: Both times, I had the same worker there who is one of the owners and both times he yelled at the back that the game was mispriced. Both times I had to come to an agreement of a price in the middle not the price they had priced it at. I also felt from them on not as welcome as they knew I knew the value of games. (Major Gripe: They are sometimes actively fighting in the store or yelling) It's pretty often that there is some issue going on in the store that makes me feel uncomfortable as they are always having issues. I tend to just try to block it out but then it seems like they put it on you that you should buy something. I once bought a game after an hour for $4.00 and they stared at me and said that's it?! (Major Gripe: They have no idea what my name is or who I am) I was a consistent customer for over 3 years, I know they recognize my face. But, I know they know nothing about me or have even asked what I do. They take no time to know you, and refuse to be an active retro community member supplier. In fact even with all my experience there they still make me feel so uncomfortable when I'm there. Conclusion: With all these issues, it's hard to think of them as a good video game store as they are clearly only out for profit and really don't care if your gaming needs are met. The selection is good, but I would never sell them any games and I've seen some shady stuff go down as a business in general. Remember, when you buy stuff from them they deal with some shady people and you just never know what's going down. read more

Quick update from my original review: Owner saw the review I originally placed here on Yelp, and became very hostile towards me when I went to visit the store again to try and buy a simple cable for my dreamcast. The interaction with the owner was not only hostile but made me feel like he cared more about telling me off over his own business wellbeing. The owner has little to no self control, and is not somewhere you will feel comfortable shopping at. While my 500 or so dollars I have given to their business over the last 6 months was probably a drop in the bucket, expect similar experiences with the owner and staff if you do not stay on their good side. Do everyone a favor and visit Pixel Vault, Game Swappers, Super Video Game Bros, or 1UP Games if you want to be treated like a valid and wanted customer. One of the guys there was so knowledgeable he set us down the right course and recommended a few titles for my ps4. Visited here while on a business trip and HOLY MOLY is this place overpriced. I realize that these mom and pop businesses have overhead but if I'm going to purchase something wearing a eBay price tag, I'll rather do it from the comfort of my own home. If you are looking for more recently released video games they have a good selection at a decent price. I would not however recommend coming here two purchase retro games mainly due to the fact that they really overcharge for some titles. I understand that businesses need to make a profit comma however it doesn't excuse the fact that they charge two times what a game is currently valued at mainly with titles like Mario and Zelda to name a few. A good selection of games but you are better off checking out other stores in the area for a deal. read more

So I've been here twice already. I love the fact that they have a HUMONGOUS amount of video games here, including PS3 and Xbox 360. They have a good selection with a lot of games, which is a good thing, but...here's where the 3 stars comes in. I've been to 1Up Videogames in Covina (I live there, and they're pretty awesome. Talk to Joey, the owner cause he's pretty cool) and I love it there. So, I go here after visiting my friend's place and we all meet up here. I walk in and it's games galore!! I look at a couple of games and OH MY GOD THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!!!! I literally look around at some games, and MY GOD they are expensive. I look at eBay and Amazon, and a lot of the games M&M sell are probably twice the price than on eBay. For example, one of the games I bought on eBay recently, Sigma Star Saga for the GBA, was $9.99 and comes with the manual. M&M? $12.95. Illusion of Gaia for the Super NES? Me, $9.99. Them, $29.99 without the box, $49.99 WITH THE BOX AND INSTRUCTIONS!! I can probably get the instruction manual for $10, and a custom case for it for another $10. So, I do like this place, but you really have to look around for the good prices. I did get some good games for good prices, but it was scattered by all the expensive games. Do some research on the games that you want first, then by here if it's worth the price. They do have rare games like Suikoden 2 and Mega Man Legends 2, but like many say, look before you leap. Get on it, but with caution. read more

This place is the shiznit!! All the throwback gaming consoles from Atari to Super Nintendo. Also, hand held devices like game boys and game gear. Furthermore, this place is loaded with games for all these devices!! My only gripe is the fact that I found a game for $15 cheaper on Amazon Anyway, if you're in the area and are looking for some throwback gaming thangs, then you should definitely check this place out!!! read more

He was very nice and down to earth, he took the time to talk to me in depth and gave me options on what I can sell for a good deal and purchase to build up my game library .. I don't commend people often but when a business owner takes the time he did to talk to me, I respect the hell out of it.. Just amazing!! They have everything you can find. Staff are just incredible by helping you out and helping you find out which game is better than the other. M&M Games has a great selection of games from pretty much every console ever made. I've been in the store several times and can only remember good experiences. Mike is really down to earth and very approachable. There was an issue with my PS3 controller and I came to the shop around 6:50pm. He had his own personal appointment to leave at 7, but stayed even past 8, the closing time, because he juggled between tending to me and other customers. The fact that he was patient with a female with limited gaming experience, even after closing time... if that's not fantastic customer service, I don't know what is. On another occasion, I left my own AV and power cable in the store. I didn't realize because I hadn't tried to play anything for a few days. I called the store, and found that they are very honest people. They didn't keep my things for themselves and try to sell them to someone else. They actually kept them for me in a safe spot until I came back, since they didn't have my number to let me know. read more

Great find in UPLAND (not Murrieta)! If you are looking the games you grew up with and can't find them in the chain stores, then look no further. Ray, from the staff, found something similar to what I was looking (carrying case for GBA games), but managed to show me a different way to use what he could. I am glad for the service and all naysayers need to post a better place they can find games earlier than 2007 going back to the Atari 2600 and the 1977 Coleco handheld "Head to Head" football. My mother used to bring me here in the late 90's (yes, this shop has been there THAT long, with the same owner, Mike). She would buy me games for my SNES, which was my first and favorite game system. Most of my SNES games I still have were bought at this place, along with Toys R' Us. I have came here only a few times since being an adult (I'm 24), and they do indeed have a great selection, but it's overpriced as everyone says. They won't offer you hardly anything for trade-in's either, it's not even worth your time trying. The last time I came here, I mentioned how they had moved a couple suites down to the corner, from their old location, and Mike was complaining about how high the rent was now and stuff. This is a good place to browse, and then go buy the stuff somewhere else for cheaper, lol. The reason they have such a great selection is because a lot of the stuff is literally LEFT OVER FROM 20 YEARS AGO, stuff they never sold because it was overpriced then and has been for the last 20 years. read more

It is true on other reviews that when you ask for the price of a game they literally walk to the back computer and look it up. Save yourself some money and just go to other local retro game stores. This place is a rip off. They benefit from being the only retro shop in the area, yet I have NO clue how they stay in business with the prices they charge. They charge double to triple what you would pay anywhere else. $80 for Super Smash Bros. Melee?! Get out. They also give you pennies for your trade-ins. I brought around $120 worth of stuff (priced via lowest prices on eBay, plus, I know my stuff) and was offered $20. Had to twist the guys arm to get him to give me $25. And I bet you thought GameStop was bad! It also bothers me that they don't clean their games before reselling them. Have some pride. A SNES game I bought had cobwebs on the contacts! Gross. The owner also seems dishonest. Asked if they'd be carrying the Retron5 when it came out and what they'd be charging, and he told me $10 over retail. Retron5 drops and he's asking $40 over retail. Again, don't know how they stay in business with these tactics. Pretty much avoid this place like the plague. You're better off shopping eBay for your retro needs. read more

Cool place for old games! If you like your old 80's and 90's consoles this is the place to find games. All the old Super NES games I lost i can buy again. New games and systems are here too. The staff has alot of cool inside information on games that are coming and things to do to fix your games. The have cool collectible stuff, rare games and they take trade ins and buy games. I went in to this store to find a couple of retro games, and I noticed that there was not only high price but fake reproduction games sold as original . Not a place I will ever come to shop, I asked only a couple of questions , about games but the answers they gave me was "our price is cheaper than pixel vault " that is unacceptable to trash talk about another shop. Whatever you do, do not buy brand new games here. Went to purchase a new game that was just released, but sold out at other stores. They had one copy behind the glass case, but it was open. The employee told me the game was only opened for display purposes and had not been played. I purchased the game (full price) and went my way. Got home, plugged in the game, and it had 3 save files on it with hours of gameplay on each file. Not only was the game used (due to the 30+ hours of gameplay on each file), not only did they lie; but they had to have had this game for weeks because it had just been released that day. If you're there to by used retro games then you're good, but do not buy anything new. read more

They have a large selection, but they drastically overcharge on everything. I saw a PS1 there for $80 when I bought one for $30 that same day at a store a few miles away. This place has a fantastic selection and is exactly what I am looking for when I walk into a mom 'n pop videogame shop. Last time I was there, I saw a virtual boy, super scope 6, power pad, power glove, and lots of other stuff that you don't often find in these shops. Needless to say, they had a bunch of games for the NES, Genesis, gameboy, super nintendo, and the like. Their prices for some of the stuff can be kinda steep, but with some sifting, you'll find some decent items. Last time I was there , their current titles were $55 as opposed to the $60 you'll find everywhere else, which is really nice. This place would easly get 5 stars form me, but I had to remove 2 stars (Yes, 2) because of the tool that works there. I've been there maybe 10 times now, and he's there every time. The other guys working there seem cool, but this one guy is perpetually on a serious ego trip and can't stop spouting off inaccurate information in a desperate attempt to make himself sound like a "knowledgeable expert" or something. He's always trying to BS the customers with his annoying know-it-all attitude, and just hearing him talk to other people makes me want to leave the store. The sad part is that a lot of parents probably believe everything he says! I asked him why one of their PSP's cost a lot more than the rest.. He told me becuase it was Japanese, because on Japanese models, the O button was accept and the X button was cancel, but in American versions, it's the other way around (the serial number wasn't Japanese). I asked to look at it, powered it on, changed the setting back to OEM, and handed it back to him, telling him it was American and that it was overpriced. I met the owner a couple of times, and he seems like a cool guy. He's really friendly and wants to help, but he's more of a business man than a gamer. He doesn't seem to know much about games, so he leaves it to the employees to sort out the details, which might not be the best choice, but I hope he does well. Go here and support the shop if you don't mind a retarded employee behind the desk. This place will get 5 stars as soon as they fire this guy. read more

They buy your used games and consoles for maybe 1/5 of their actual price and pay almost nothing if it's a third party accessory, no matter its condition or how expensive it was because it's not "official". They also sell EVERYTHING for more than what ebay lists it for. There's a few good finds, but never for the price they ask.This place is wayyyyyyyy too over priced!!! Only come here to sell off what you don't want(preprare to get ripped off) or to get your retro finds checked for authenticity. Don't buy anything here. read more
