    Chicken and waffles

Man this really that community spot, in the cut, local shhh. I always pass this place otw to the gym and the "HOT FRIED CHICKEN EBT" is what caught my attention. I had a feeling it was a lowkey but fire spot. And it was exactly that. I've only tried their fired chicken and waffle but man the prices are too good and the food is fire. Everything is so flavorful. I appreciate places like this and I even brought some to a party and everyone was asking me where I got this chicken from haha. It's just your local corner market that happens to have dank food. Bring cash if you wanna avoid a small card fee! Ima fasholy be back here

Boy, oh boy. This chicken, is shmackin! I wouldn't have known about this place until my coworker brought a bunch of the fried chicken and shared it. The wings! The breasts! Not to mention, the hot link sandwich! All thanks to my coworker for introducing this place. The place is a regular corner store market where you can also buy food ready to eat. Not to mention when you have both the chicken and waffle, best combination ever. I totally recommend to try their chicken and waffle. The prices aren't bad either! My coworker always has great service there whenever she orders. Thank you for serving some good chicken, hot link sandwiches, and waffles.

Christy Mac had me on a mission from the "Deep East" to the West to taste these chicken wings & they definitely did NOT disappoint. Christy did recommend the waffle but I/we only had a taste for wings & ordered 12 party wings that came in a white paper bag. The seasoned fries were nothing special. I will definitely be back for the party wings & try the waffle

I was looking for a fried chicken place that was close to me and I didn't have to wait in line. This place popped up on yelp, and it looked really interesting because it is one of those liquor /corner stores that has hot fresh made food. The prices are super affordable, because they sell steroided out chicken. The chicken is massive, and they have raised prices slightly since the last picture, but it is still such a great deal. There are many people whom drop by here to grab chicken to go, they also have cole slaw, macaroni salad, potato salad, corn dogs, banana pudding etc. We ordered a massive amount of food, and ended up with a lot of leftovers. The chicken here is not too salty, well fried, and has a great crispy coating. I would recommend the quarters over the wings, because that meat was even more tender. They also have waffles!!!! The banana pudding was super banana tasting, like they added a banana liquor or something. Great place to grab some fried chicken to go!

People sleeping on this spot if you not from here. This spot is located inside of the liquor store.I was referred by a friend to try their chicken and waffles and when I tell you that I was transported to my hometown in Houston Texas and then to Louisiana with just a few bites of chicken... It was hot, not to greasy, yet juicy lite flakey coating and cooked to perfection paired with a thick cakey waffle that was thick enough to hold the syrup and hot butter and not compromise the crispiness. I loved every bit of it definitely my go to for chicken and waffles... hit them up when you in the area. Your welcome.

The bread is always fresh and it's a hefty portion ( I always split my sandwich into two). It's generally a quick to go order spot but you might have to wait just a little bit ( under 10 minutes). My go to order is always number 13. Meatball and egg is my favorite but I've had a bunch of their other options and they're all solid. Right as you enter the store there are also a variety of drinks and sweet treats you can pick up as well. Tips: It's a clean and no frills takeout sandwich spot located right off of International but there's also a small parking lot behind the gated fence that you can park in. They're only open Friday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., so I finally made the trip out on a Friday and arrived around 9:30 a.m. It was already fairly busy, and it only got more packed while I waited for my order so I would strongly recommend getting there before 9 a.m. or phoning your order in ahead of time. I ordered 4 sandwiches total, and it took somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes for everything to be ready, but both the #2 Special Combo Ham and the #13 Meatball and Egg were absolutely fantastic and well worth the wait. The #2 is how I benchmark a good banh mi, and this place really delivered. The pate was out of this world, the sandwich was piled high with delicious cold cuts, loaded with perfectly pickled veggies and jalapeños, and stuffed into a roll that had the perfect balance of a crisp exterior and pillowy interior. The #13 seemed to be a popular choice as well and for good reason. It had all the same great attributes as the #2, but with the pate and cold cuts replaced by a sweet and savory crumbled meatball paired with a perfectly soft boiled egg. It was every bit as satisfying and delicious and had such a different flavor profile to the #2, which I really appreciated. It is not in the best neighborhood and the hours are painfully tight, especially if you want to avoid a long wait, but the end product is absolutely worth it, in my opinion. And at $6 to $7 per sandwich, the value is still a good value, even if it is a far cry from the $4-6 range that it seemed to hover in for a long time.

I ordered the sando and fries combo and enjoyed them at the picnic tables nearby. 5/5 Chicken sandwich I'm no fried chicken connoisseur, but I really enjoyed this sandwich. My mild fried chicken sandwich was crispy and savory with a hint of sweetness. The coleslaw was a creamy tangy addition that paired well with the sandwich. It's nice they offer various spicy levels; the mild is flavorful without burning off your taste buds. 4/5 Fries were nicely spiced with cajun-esque flavors. Not spicy at all. They included a mysterious (aioli?) sauce that went well with the fries. Fries were crispy though without the pillowy insides I crave. The portion was huge, quite shareable. I also tried a few bites of the thick gravy seafood etouffee. Other folks in my party were impressed with the flavor and generally liked it, but I didn't care too much for it. You might enjoy it if you, too, enjoy curry-type food. I don't often eat fried or hot chicken, but I consider this to be one of the better spots locally.

Casual southern spot for fried chicken sandwiches. Don't be afraid to turn up the heat!…read more The menu offers flavorful versions of southern comfort foods. We ordered a chicken sando, the chicken and waffles, and a couple sides -- the greens and etouffee. The sandwich was the clear highlight: moist chicken thigh with a breaded crunch, covered by a thin layer of mayo coleslaw. The light, sweet crunch of the cabbage and carrots gave balance to the dark meat. The waffles were crispy but just soft enough you could wrap them around the chicken to make a sweet sandwich out of that dish too. The server was very friendly when we came. I expressed curiosity about the different heat levels, and he shared nuggets batter d in the medium and hot sauces. He shared our excitement at trying the hot stuff! For the record, the medium is hotter than your typical spicy chicken sandwich and probably a safe go-to. The hot level just cracks "painful" but not unmanageably so -- might be fun as a treat. TBH I was pleasantly surprised by how much flavor each sauce packed -- and how different they were. The medium is especially sweet. Go for the sando. Crank up the heat. It doesn't miss.

Place seemed clean and suitable for a quick bite, very much a fast food joint. Like fast food, the wait was less than ten minutes for a spicy chicken tender and medium spicy medium size loaded fries with chicken chunks. The spicy chicken tender was moist, tender, and the texture was even and had some chew and slight crunch. It was a decent size, but it wouldn't fill me up by itself. My nephew had asked for some spicy chicken, to have a little kick to it. But he said that the "Spicy" level chicken "felt like a kick to the groin". The medium chicken was also tasty, and I preferred it over the spicy one. These were a bit smaller, like the width of two nickels side by side. What really struck me as off were the fries themselves. They were salty, and they had sliced pickles and a dash of cheese and sauce--but they were practically naked. What the hell were they doing back there? Is it that hard to sprinkle more than a pinch of cheese, more than a drop of sauce? For the meal, $21 was expensive, and seemingly not worth it. Three stars.

From the outside, it looks like a straightforward taco truck, but wow was I surprised. I ordered the Carnitas Super Taco, which came loaded with lettuce, cheese, cilantro, onions, sour cream, and guacamole. Everything was fresh, well seasoned, and packed with flavor. My only complaint? You only get one taco per order because I definitely could've eaten another. The Kid ordered the Carne Asada Super Taco and before we even pulled away, she was asking for a second one. That's usually a pretty good sign. We also tried the horchata and jamaica, and both were delicious. The horchata was creamy and flavorful, while the jamaica was refreshing and not overly sweet. What surprised me most was how quickly they got the food out, especially considering how popular this spot seems to be. The flavors are rich and laid on thick. We ordered a veggie burrito, a bean and cheese burrito with rice added, and three tacos (carne, pollo asado, and Cameron's). The carne melted in my mouth, since it was rich with rendered fat, and the tortillas were crisped around the outside to melt and seal the layer of cheese inside. Probably our best overall dish was the bean-cheese-rice burrito -- covered in their salsas and peppers -- since it balanced all the ingredients and textures. On the other hand, the veggie burrito brought the flavor, but between the crema, pico, guacamole, and cheese it ended up soggy halfway through and the tortilla threatened to come loose. The shrimp and chicken were forgettable, and the tortillas come crispy off the griddle but they are damp by the time you walk anywhere to sit. What captures the truck in a nutshell are the chips they serve, covered in a seasoning that replicates Doritos flavor. Sometimes that is exactly what you need. But you can get it elsewhere easily too.
