Staff is hip and friendly. Atmosphere is mellow and chill with good jams in the background. The coffee is tasty and full bodied without being overpowering and their coffee condiment bar is snazzy. Their food is fresh and you can see them in action with your meal with their open kitchen bar. MB Haskett is on their game! I've been here more than I should for only living in SF a few months. Their sandwiches and soups never disappoint and the one prix fixe meal I had was delicious! They can get a bit pricy, but it's worth it most of the time. read more

You walk in,stand there while no one greets you or the people you are with. No hello,hi, nothing!. Just stares...There's no sign whether you have to seat yourself or wait to be seated. Since we stood there and heard nothing from the staff just staring at us, we decided to just seat ourselves. The staff still continued to stare at us and finally two minutes later one of the severs comes out and says the table we're on is reserved for a 7pm dinner, so then I asked if we could go sit at the other open table and he states that table is also reserved but for a 7:30pm reservation, um okay I looked at my time and it was around 6:38 or something and I thought to myself there's still a whole hour in between those times. Makes no sense to me. Then he said he could get us some chairs at the bar top. I look over the bar top and there's only 2 chairs open and we were a party of 4. I don't know what they ended up doing or if they even made room for 4 people but we just ended up leaving, we were hungry and didn't have time to wait there until they figured out the seating situation for us. I didn't even get to try their food to really even rate this place, and to write a review you have to rate it. I'm making it a 1star since I can't really rate the place. bummer,I'm sure it's good but sorry staff was not friendly at all. But maybe next time. read more

Maybe Sunday nights are not the time to dine at MB Haskett. I found the service to be extremely slow as we waited for over 45 minutes to receive our entrees even with only one other table filled with more emphasis seemingly placed on filling take-out orders. the atmosphere here is the best. a lot of outdoor seating in the front and there is a really cool courtyard in the back. most of the food is wonderful. the only thing i have had that i didn't like was huevos rancheros which just had no flavor. the staff is always so friendly! read more

We have just finished a meal at MB Haskett. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant. We desperately need a really great restaurant in this town. I was disappointed with every course. The first course of squash ravioli was the best of the 3. The addition of whole red peppercorns were the best part of this dish. The Coq au Vin was weak at best. Sauce was not robust or developed. The mushrooms should have been larger. Squash cubes in it?? A repeat of the first course-so boring. Hello Classic French cooking--I don't think so. The flour less chocolate cake was small and needed salt. Every serving size was VERY small and the price steep. I was wondering why the place was relatively empty and now I know. I happened to have made Coq au Vin last night-Julia Child's recipe. It's one of the cheaper dishes to produce. My sauce was rich and complex. So, to learn from this- you need to do more. Offer more courses, amuse bouches, be more creative something. Don't get lazy or cheap at this point in your businesses history-it'll kill you. read more
