They would not tell me the price until job was done and used a smaller truck so they could sell more loads.

At the Company request I sent them photos of the leak type of tank and they helped me turn off the bad tank and use the second tank. The Technician came out to the house with the wrong tank. They acknowledged they brought the wrong tank and needed to order and come back with the new tank. The issue I have is that I was being charged a service fee for their mistake. No work or Inspection was performed and they already knew what the problem was and what type of tank they needed. Tried to resolve the issue with them and no compromise on their behalf. Looking forward to going to small claims court on this!!!

I left a message, but continued to try to call every half hour or so. I finally got a text back from 'Jamie'. Jamie tried to upsell me a new system during this emergency, which I'd happily argue was caused by a Culligan installer. Jamie was great and gave advice until I told them I wasn't interested in buying a new system. Now it's been an hour since I've heard from Jamie. I got ghosted because I wasn't interested in purchasing a new system during a crisis. Update: Got a text from the branch manager around noon, where I was promised a technician around 3pm. The tech was a little early, but told me that the office could have talked me through turning on the bypass over the phone. I was charged more than $200 for this, was told that I needed to replace my water softener system. Definitely getting quotes from competitors.

My experience with Hague Quality Water of Maryland started in June 2024, and a year later I…read morecompletely regret the $1,395 I spent. I never had issues with their technicians or customer service, but I was sold an Upflow Water Neutralizing System--which I later learned is not typically recommended for well water, even though many companies sell it for that function. My house (built in 1946) has a well, water softener, and pH neutralizer. When the neutralizer failed, I contacted a few companies for estimates, and Hague's price was the best. I assumed they'd know what system my house needed and didn't think twice when they recommended an Upflow unit. The salesperson emphasized that it saved water and electricity since it doesn't backwash--something that sounded good at the time but means little when you're on a well and not paying a water bill. Fast-forward to July 2025: Hague serviced the system and added calcite. Immediately afterward, my water pressure dropped to almost nothing. The technician suspected the calcite had solidified and clogged the tank, recommending it be dumped and a sediment filter added. The problem? A Downflow system backwashes automatically, breaking up buildup and clearing sediment--an Upflow system does not. After getting two second opinions, I learned I could either replace the one-year-old tank with a Downflow system (meaning the $1,395 was wasted) or plan for the tank to be dumped and refilled every year. Another company confirmed that Upflow systems are generally unsuitable for a small household on well water because of this exact issue. It turns out many companies still push Upflow systems since they're cheaper and easier to install, and most customers don't know the difference until problems appear. I wish I'd done the research first--I would have gladly paid a little more for a system that simply needed routine servicing rather than yearly repairs. Hague may be fine for maintenance, but for installations, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. I read a LOT before writing this, so here is just a sampling of the websites I looked at: Are Upflow Neutralizers Better than Backwash Calcite Neutralizers? (2015). Then he fills the tanks and tests the water. BRYNN keeps track of the timing for this maintenance, which is helpful. HERMINIO recently repaired my RO faucet. HERMINIO is thorough and efficient, always explaining to me what he's doing and why, and I like that he charges for the time he's here, rather than adding unnecessary minutes that creep into a second hour.

I called and requested water tests on my sink, hose and RO water. He told he he doesn't do that and suggested a company in Edgewater. I questioned why and offered to pay him to test my water. Again telling me he doesn't do that. That's very odd as that is his business and he's been here to test my water. Additionally, during one of his visits here in the past he offered up information on neighbors. So and So still owes me $200. So and So had this problem and this is how I fixed it and went on to tell me his negative personal thoughts about them. I was very uncomfortable hearing this and never repeated to anyone. I actually recommended him to other neighbors - in the past. That will no longer happen.

I know the operation has expanded, but the people who come to the house to fill my chemical injector and add salt to my softener are prompt, professional, friendly, and willing to answer questions. Likewise, the people in the office (especially Betty) are professional, courteous, and friendly -- I actually look forward to requesting a service call. There is so much iron in the water here that it just doesn't make sense to go without a softener and chemical injector. H20 Tommy's equipment and people are the very best! Four years ago, they replaced my water pressure tank and several failing fittings, and installed a…read morereverse osmosis (RO) system. Given the cost of this work, I expected durable materials, proactive recommendations, and transparent guidance. Unfortunately, both experiences have left me disappointed -- and more importantly, concerned about trust. Regarding the pressure tank: during installation, their team very likely observed an older, visibly corroded metal well intake pipe that had likely been in place for nearly 20 years under prior ownership. Fast forward to today -- I noticed heavy white corrosion on the 4.5-year-old brass fitting and an active water leak. Given the risk of catastrophic failure, I called for urgent service. To their credit, they arrived within two hours, which I appreciated. However, I was then told the metal pipework was not covered under the tank warranty and that it should be replaced with stainless steel -- which they acknowledged would last longer and resist corrosion better than the prior installation -- at a cost of $1,400. When a contractor identifies visibly corroded infrastructure during an install, I expect clear risk disclosure and upgrade options at that time -- not four years later when failure is imminent and the homeowner has little choice. Now to the RO system: at installation, I was told the filters were widely available commercially and easy to replace. I later learned the filters are proprietary and only sold through water system companies -- not readily available via retail as originally represented. That distinction materially affects long-term cost and flexibility. Years later, I called to ask how to sanitize the RO system myself. I was told it's something only they can do and that they would handle sanitization when delivering the next set of filters (rather than shipping them), which I accepted. After the technician sanitized the lines, he casually told me, "You know you can sanitize the lines yourself." That is exactly what I had asked about over the phone. I relied on their guidance, only to hear the opposite in person. For tradespeople working inside a home -- especially on critical water infrastructure -- trust and clarity are foundational. When guidance changes, material limitations aren't disclosed up front, or foreseeable corrosion isn't proactively addressed, it raises concerns beyond just cost. While I appreciate the prompt emergency response, the combination of reactive fixes, proprietary product limitations, and inconsistent communication has made this an unsatisfactory experience overall.
