I was very happy I was able to get an appointment quickly! Love the results Monica did on my hair. I showed Monica a picture of what I wanted and the balayage came out great, just what I wanted. She even had me check the color midway to ensure it was something I wanted- which I appreciated soo much since it was my first time getting balayage. Very happy with the results. Throughout the process everyone was super kind and attentive which made time fly. I was even able to get a pedicure while I waited! Overall great experience and will definitely be back!

I booked a balayage appointment but ended up with a noticeable 1-2 inch solid dark band at the roots that resembles grown-out hair rather than intentional blending. I was told this was gray coverage and that balayage does not go to the scalp. However, I've had balayage many times before (including with gray coverage), and the color was always blended much more seamlessly with a root melt or soft transition. I've attached a photo to show the solid dark band at the roots, which lacks the soft blending typically expected with balayage. When I expressed concern, the response focused on justification rather than acknowledging the visual result. Unfortunately, this wasn't the outcome I expected.

Monica is straight forward and delivered. Initially, in our conversation, she said highly unlikely to go lighter but she did and it surprised me! Started appt at 1030am and finished at 5pm Hair washing doesn't include head massage, a little rough but hey, it's worth the price!- it's literally just washing out all that bleach. Overall, great communication and efficient with her skills.

i've been going to monica since 2023, and she's genuinely the only person i trust with my hair at this point. i've had some really bad past experiences with other salons (especially with bleach) so for the longest time i was honestly kind of scared to try anything like highlights again. because of that, i always stuck to non-bleach color with monica, and every single time she's done my hair, i've loved it. with summer coming up, i finally decided to step out of my comfort zone and trust her with caramel highlights, and i'm so glad i did. she absolutely nailed it. the color looks super natural and blended, and it still feels like "me" but just elevated. she was really patient, listened to exactly what i wanted, and made sure i felt comfortable the whole time. also, she's so efficient. i went in at 1:30 and was done by around 4, which included everything ~ bleach, wash, and styling. honestly it probably could've been done even earlier, but i had red color in my hair before which is harder to lift (not her fault at all), & she still worked super quickly. and i love that she asks if you want your hair curled or straight at the end, it's such a small detail but makes the experience feel more personalized. overall, monica is literally THE best !!!! she's fast, talented, and really cares about making sure you leave happy. if you're someone who's nervous about trying something new with your hair (like i was), she's definitely the person to go to. read more

I've been to M Beauty for my daughter's haircuts. Took a leap of faith and decided to book my baby for highlights. Monica was able to explain balayage would be more preferable which she proceeded and my baby's hair turned out beautiful. I then, booked for my other daughter who which was not able to attend so I took her place, and ya'll my hair turned out amazing!! I have not done my hair in over 10 years! I felt young, excited, and beautiful. Monica truly takes her time and explains the process. She does not overbook therefore, she does not rush!! My coworker did her dark ash balayage with Monica and it looked so good when I saw it. Booked an appointment with Monica for a few days later. My hair was super brassy from my last balayage that Monica said she couldn't do the ash beige that I wanted. She suggested the closest shade and I went with it. 5 hours later she transformed my brassy hair to pretty darn close to what I wanted. I love it! I had an appointment to get my bangs cut and clearly specified that I only wanted them trimmed to just above my cheeks, and the rest of my hair only lightly layered. However, when it was finished, my bangs were cut too short and my overall hair length was much shorter than I had requested. The experience was not as expected, so I am not satisfied. read more

After doing some research on yelp to find a hair stylist. I came across Monica on yelp. After reading so many good reviews on her I decided to book an appointment with her. She bleached my hair then told me she going to let it sit and left to eat lunch. I sat there with my hair bleached and a bag over it. I started feeling steam and burning to my scalp. I went to the back to look for her. I told her my scalp feels burning. She said my scalp shouldn't be burning since she didn't bleach my root. She then take a look and say wait longer. I went to the restroom and took off the plastic top and started seeing steam coming from my hair. My hair was burning hot. I went back outside and saw Monica outside asking if everything is okay. I told her it is burning my scalp. She then touch it and immediately washed it out. I knew from that moment she burned my hair. She even stop in the middle to take care of my hair and cut two women hair and ask the men in there to wash and dry up my hair. Do not come here unless you want your hair destroyed. Never in my life did I ever experience anything like this. I'm very disappointed. read more

I've requested balayage hair color many times before and don't really get the result I want for the price I paid in Elk Grove or Midtown Sacramento. With Monica it is different story- she is my new favorite hair colorist in the Sacramento area! I have a lot of gray hairs and she recommended an ash brown color to help blend the grays for when it grows out. She is very detailed in her work and it shows. She also explained how to care for the hair to maintain color. She is really sweet, fast at responding to messages, and scheduling your appointment. After my visit with her, I fell inconsistent with my waxes and went in today for my first Brazilian in a while. Since I couldn't remember my previous waxers name, I booked with Monique, and it was nothing like my first experience. I laid on the bed and we immediately began the service. Anyone who has gotten a Brazilian before knows it is definitely NOT the most pleasant experience, but today hurt so bad I was crying. I had told her beforehand that I haven't been waxed in so long I was practically a first-timer. She asked me a few times if I wanted to end the wax early, which was a nice offer, but what was I going to do, leave with a half waxed part of my body while still paying full price in the end? I had already made it as far as I did, and pushed through it for my moneys worth. She was going WAY too fast and I was in excruciating pain. I asked her a few times if she could slow down a little bit or if I could at least take a quick breather. She replied that since she had customers after me that I "can't take too long and would need to make it quick" ?? All I needed was a minute. The experience felt extremely rushed and, in my opinion, a service such as a Brazilian where you're dealing with such delicate parts of the body, should not be rushed. We got done with the wax, I paid, and after I came home I realized I still have gross patches of unwanted hair down there. I don't recommend booking Monique for a Brazilian. :( UPDATE: The salon called me yesterday and offered a complimentary touch up with Crystal today, and my experience was amazing! She was friendly, super cool, informative, and gave me plenty of helpful aftercare tips. Most importantly, she got rid of all the leftover hair from my previous appointment thoroughly and efficiently without making me feel rushed. Turns out I had WAY more hair down there than I realized. It was so bad that Crystal almost saved a piece of wax to show her boss because of how much hair was missed during my appointment from a few days ago. I decided to request for Monica for a hair wash, U cut with layers and a blow out curl style afterwards. Monica was also informed that i have natural curly hair. This information and request was communicated when making an appointment and right when I sat down with Monica. Monica said she can easily do so I trusted her especially with the amount of positive ratings about Monica. Please see my original hair before the cut, and the inspired haircut and blowout curl compared to what Monica gave me. Throughout our appointment time, Monica complained about washing hair first but stated it was needed since i have natural curly hair. Monica kept stating over and over that she is tired and her hand hurts. After wash, she straightened the hair after blowdrying it out because she states it was needed to "cut evenly." A good hair cutter and stylist would not need to straighten someone's hair to properly cut. I did asked if she straightened it, could she still do the requested blowout curled style i had asked for initially. Monica sighed and said she couldn't do it because she didn't want to wash my hair again because she's "tired" and already "overworking" but she will try to use a curling iron to make the ends look curled like the picture along with the volume showed in picture. Again, I decided to trusted her. Due to the poor attempt of cutting and thinning out my hair and styling in a completely different way, i hesitated on not paying for it but because I did not want to bring trouble and wanted to empathise with Monica's complaints about tiredness and overworking, i ended up paying. I will never be coming back to M Beauty. If you have natural curly hair, this is not the salon to go to. Monica is unprofessional and will disregard your requests. Im happy that other people had positive reviews with Monica, but this was the poorest experience I've ever had with a haircutter and stylist. read more

I called her to make the appointment. I had my hair colored in red without bleaching so she put on my hair the brightest shades of red in the hope that it'd turn out well. And here is the result. I've been going to Monica for recent years to get my hair cut, dyed, and perm. Got a perm today with mani+pedi. A perm is $65 and mani pedi is $50. I also bought a hair lotion to use when drying my hair at home from Paul Mitchel for $12. It'll give you a natural curl later on . Overall, I'm happy with the result. Will definitely be back.
