Terrible experience today. I made a reservation to take my daughter on a date night and when we got there, they wouldn't seat us because my daughter was under 18. Apparently, the don't allow dining in for anyone under 18. It was just very confusing considering there were children seated at one of the tables. I will never go there again! read more

I'm going with 4 stars only because of the attitudes here. The food deserves all 5 stars but the folks running this place need to relax. Again, the tacos are amazing - but first start with the chips and salsa - warm chips with a few dips and plenty of added sauces to choose from. The empanada was also great and they always have several "specials" to choose from. Wish they could add some alcohol to their juice drinks for evening but no luck yet. However, I don't think they realize that their customers need to be treated like they are welcome. They are a bit over cautious about their seating even when they are really slow. Let the customers be comfortable and not squeezed into tight spaces when you have plenty of tables available. Otherwise, you should really try this place for some of the best tacos around. read more

M Cantina was featured at Detroit's most recent taco festival. And they hit a home run. Dearborn's indisputable best spot for a delicious taco. They also offer an arrangement of 18 different hot sauces with your tacos, to suit your capsaicin preference. Interesting to this tacqueria is its array of different meat options including goat. First off, the waitress (I believe she is married to the chef and possibly a manager) was completely disrespectful to my elderly mother and other members at our table. She was beyond unpleasant. She was rude, disrespectful, and made inflammatory comments which I'll get into more detail shortly. When we first arrived my we realized that it was difficult for my mom to sit at a higher table that we were seated at so we requested a different one. At first the waitress/manager seemed obliging and moved us to a different one, however I noticed that the younger waitresses were scared to move us without her permission. It was as if she was The Godfather and what she said goes....or else. When it was time to order, she was upset when we asked very simple questions about menu items and drinks and was clearly annoyed when we asked for a few more moments to decide. In fact she did not return to our table for another 40 minutes after this and told us that we should just order tacos because everything else would take too long to make since there were many orders ahead of us. Mind you, she began taking orders from other tables and parties that arrived after us and exceeded what would be a reasonable amount of time to return to our table. It seemed somewhat vengeful. Whatever, we decided to get past it. We are an understanding bunch and the restaurant can be difficult at times. Honestly, in an attempt to be obliging, we ordered tacos to appease the waitress. After a long wait she returned to our table with our food in DOGGIE BAGSand asked us to take our food with us. When we questioned why she would do that, she told us that she wanted us to leave her restaurant. Truly, it was the craziest experience that I have had with a person. My family and I are a classy bunch and were not about to be engaged in some sort of argument with this woman so we walked out and left the food there, although she had already charged us for it. Truly, this woman seemed full of rage and I didn't want to put myself or my family in an unsafe situation. It was a horrible experience I felt terrible that mom had to experience this. I am a great proponent of sending kindness into the world and treating others with respect. I am not sure what this woman's issue is but all I can say is it was completely inappropriate, gross, and inflammatory. Second off, the food way overpriced. Don't get me wrong, it was not bad food, but not anything out of this world. The presentation was nice but the food was not anything better I could get at Panera. Also note that they refuse to make any substitutions or omissions to menu items. A strange and bizarre policy for a restaurant in my opinion. Additionally, the wait time was too long. Even if the food was 3 Star Michelin restaurant I would never go back based on the behavior of the waitress/manager. When someone goes out to eat, chooses to support a small business (we drove from Birmigham to Dearborn to give this small business our support), and spend their hard earned money, the last thing they deserve is to be met with hostility. Not sure why this waitress thinks it's okay to mistreat people - based on previous comments there is clearly a pattern of behavior here. (I can only speculate as to why she chooses to treat certain people in such horrid way but obviously knows how to behave appropriately other times). Save your time, money, and peace of mind. Support a business that understands the service industry and appreciates your business. Understanding it was later the day, I arrived 45 minutes before closing yet the server was very rushed and short on patience. This is a lovely location in Dearborn. The environment is decorated nicely and lots of asthetics that makes the place feel cultured. The food was absolutely delicious! And the staff are friendly and helpful. They will help explain the menu and what to select. The Elote is delicious!!! And the fajita tacos were delicious. Everything was delicious. Had been meaning to check this place out since moving to Dearborn a while back. Was not disappointed by the food! I'm a salsa lover too so my mind was blown when they brought their offerings of 20+ salsa's over. I had the Asada Torta and my wife had the shrimp tacos. Both were excellent. The undeserving pompous attitude from the staff is comical. All the tricks you would imagine from a phony, upscale Mexican cuisine is present. Absolutely horrible service but wonderful food. I went to this restaurant to celebrate receiving an award at work with my family. We ordered drinks and then after about 10 minutes ordered our appetizers. 15 minutes later our appetizers arrived and our drinks still hadn't shown up. The appetizers were amazing, and the drinks were good but also arrived 25 minutes late. None the less, the food was good and we ordered our entrees and more drinks. The second round of drinks came much faster which was great! After 30 minutes of waiting for our entrees the manager came by and asked us for our food order, we explained to the manager that we had already placed the order 30 minutes ago..to which she quickly responded with "Can you give us the order again." As we were 1 of two tables in the entire place I was floored. I've worked in restaurants for most of my life, I understand that sometimes you lose the paper you took the order on.. but to notice this 30 minutes after is insane. Despite that, I thought .. things happen.. hopefully they expedite it, especially since they knew we were waiting for a long time.. That was not the case.. we then waited another 30 minutes for the entrees to come out. The food was great but the service was absolutely awful! We had let our concerns known to the manager who quickly defended herself and said "waiting 30 minutes for cocktails is normal... as for the food it is what it is we don't offer discounts on food." We weren't looking for a discount, we were looking for our concerns to be heard as an opportunity for the service to grow. The highlight of our night at the restaurant was Fay who was a server in training (you did good girl but run!) The main server (not sure what her name was) was extremely rude. I had made a reservation three days prior for 3 people, and when I arrived the staff first said they had me down for two, which is why there were no 3 person tables available (very small restaurant). This was frustrating, but they then said they didn't have me "in the book" at all... So which was it? It would have been a 45 minute wait to get a table so we just left. It is one thing to have admitted to making a mistake, but they barely did at best. They didn't even offer an appetizer or something at the bar while we waited (no liquor license so couldn't offer a drink). This is the service industry, and the service was downright disrespectful. Super yummy tacos and an extensive dessert menu in Dearborn. M Cantina is a super interesting taco spot. When you walk in you may think that you're in a casual taco restaurant, but that is not quick the case. Their menu is extensive with a lot of interesting options. First off, order the chips and salsa. It comes with a pico de gallo, bean dip and avocado dip along with 18 salsas of varying flavor and spice level. (Don't worry, they are in order). For my main dish I went for the Chiles Rellenos tacos that were really good. Finally for dessert I had a Mexican chocolate creme brûlée. Their dessert menu had over ten options when I was in, all of which were very exciting. It was pretty fun to come to a seemingly casual place and have such a great meal. read more

Woah! I was surprised by this. I was expecting just the same ol kind of Mexican restaurant that is in every city BUT this is way different. It is small but utilized to its full potential. I walked in the back entrance and was seated with a friend immediately. (It was around 2pm) we ordered and fairly quickly the food was brought to us. I especially enjoyed the different types of sauces for the chips and food. I got the brisket tacos and really enjoyed them. I felt the food was fresh and flavorful. The sauces were excellent! I used the sauces for my chips as well as the tacos. I also got a watermelon, mint and something else juice. It was excellent. I will definitely come back and encourage others to do so as well. I've eaten here before for lunch and the chicken Tinga tacos were amazing but decided to celebrate my birthday here with 5 relatives and we were disappointed. First, they would not let us bring a cake and the food wasn't that great. I assume they wanted us to buy dessert but we passed since we already had a cake purchased at home and our bill was high enough. Pork tacos had a very odd flavor and I got a whiff of mold when biting into other tacos...was it the lettuce on top? Not really sure. The chips and salsa appetizer was good but should have been complimentary, and street corn was very good. AMAZING TACOS!!!!!! Came in here with me and my uncle for lunch one day and this taco spot is AMAZING! First off let me say I love the copper Moscow mule cups. They kept the water nice and cold the whole time. We started off with the Plantain Chips with avocado salsa and that was great. Also I tried the Mexican street corn and that was great also. I had the duck tacos and let me tell you they were OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING! The duck was a little crispy and all the flavors were great! Here is my thing with places like this. You pay for the name. If your truly hungry, don't come here; unless your willing to shovel out $40 or better. I should have known with it being completely empty in here, but assumed it may have been because the place is so hard to find. I sat at the bar the bartender was nice. I told her that I'm vegan and she stated that they have a special. It was the mushroom&onion tacos. I seen that rice and beans were separate so I added that as well. Food took 10-12mins it came out 3 tacos and a bowl of rice/beans. Now let me start with the highlights. The tacos had great flavor & are authentic. They have a lot of sauces for you to try. Now here's all the issues. 1)The tacos only come in 3's ($4 a taco once I did the math) 2)they fit in the palm of your hand(a medium sized hand) 3)1/2 lettuce 1/2 filling 4)Rice in beans $4 come in the same container which is quite small when your paying for them separately from the tacos(total of 3 spoonfuls of rice 3 spoonfuls of beans). 5) Chips aren't complimentary there $2 (Why give me 25 sauces for free but no chips that's just stupid) It was good but not $16 & some change ($20 after tip bc the waitress was nice) and to still be hungry. Yea that's gourmet. Lmfao and I won't be back. I'm from out of town, travel often, either just charge individually for everything or make things a meal but don't up the prices bc of the name. It explains why they were empty @ that time. Food was good, but beyond overpriced for what you get. I spent $50 on 3 tacos, a poorly made drink, and some plantain chips. Wait staff was rude. We waited over 35 minutes for our $15+ drinks. Waitstaff was annoyed when we asked about an update on our drinks. I had ordered a dragonfly & it had nitrogen and was supposed to have the effect of smoking. When it came the smoking effect was done & there was a gross filmy Ice over the top that was so thick I had to chop it up with a knife to get to the drink (clearly it had sat for quite some time). When I tried to nicely say something to the waitress, she cut me off multiple times, said that's how it's supposed to be, then shrugged it off without an apology. It was one of the ugliest drinks I've ever gotten & yes, I had ordered it somewhat to take cute pics and have a pretty drink. I've gotten drinks like this numerous times before & never had it look like the hot mess it was. No one ever apologized for the long wait for drinks, which is customer service 101. We came in with a party of 12 & all of our food came out at random times, so we didn't eat together. Some friends got half their order (and some orders should've had 4 tacos, but only came out with 3) and not their sides until 30 min later. I was totally done with my food before my friend who was sitting next to me had her food come out. 18% gratuity was automatically added, which explains why the waitstaff didn't feel the need to try to be kind at all. I really have always said that I don't like Mexican food but this place really made me think twice about that. They have fresh squeezed juices, tacos, tapas, and even desserts! The decor is immaculate and the theme is really well developed. It's really an experience eating there. The food is definitely sharable, but it might not be enough to completely stuff you. I got an assortment of tapas and had a blast trying them w family. I'm giving this 4 stars bc it is pricey but still affordable for the decor and atmosphere. This is an amazing halal version of an affordable, "high-end" take on Mexican cuisine! The place is small but it really did give an NYC feel, making me forget that I was in Dearborn. We had the fajita bites as our appetizer with a size of guacamole and chips. I think these were my favorite part of the meal. The fajita bites were really good and were a nice start to our dinner, as they left us wanting more. They also give a very generous serving of tortilla chips which were salted and really good. After this, I ordered the surf and turf tacos which had flank steak and shrimp which were also tasty. Finally, we had the lava cake for dessert which was absolutely amazing. I'm not a huge fan of chocolate so I wasn't overly excited but when the plate came it was wonderful. The cake itself was very light and fluffy, and in no way overwhelming like chocolate can usually be. Also on the plate was a few edible garnishes such as a hibiscus soaked pear, a hibiscus flower, and mango passion fruit ice cream, all of which were amazing. To top it off, the different salsas were nice additions to our food and it was fun to taste the different kinds offered. Honestly, M. Cantina is definitely somewhere I would recommend to friends and would return to. It can be pricey as an everyday thing for most in the area, but it is a really nice place to go out to once a month or so. Their take on halal Mexican food is great and I'm glad I went! I don't think I will ever eat at this place again. When you go in there it is as if you are in a school with the worlds strictest teacher-- literally! . Waiter tells you how much ice you can have in your drink and what you can and cannot have in your food. place is way overpriced also the waiter whispers everything to you and can barely hear and when you ask her to speak up she becomes frustrated. Oh and if you arrive early for a gathering with your friends you will not be seated unless your whole party is there even though the place is completely empty. I was really excited to try this place! I think this dining experience showed how restaurants have been hit hard with COVID. They were short staffed, and the meal seemed pretty rushed. Ceviche was amazing, tacos were really good too. I was a bit underwhelmed with the drinks, they didn't have everything in them that was listed on the menu. Churros tasted old. They willingly set up a group setting (8-10 people), but fail to let the party know that they'll be split up because their tables can't be placed together. They've (slipped up?) served alcoholic beverages, even alcohol free is requested, and refuse to admit their faults. The only redeeming thing about this place is they offer halal meat if that's a requirement for you, but I would never recommend this place again. Never go here if you have a family! I came from out of town to eat here when visiting my sister. We were so excited to eat here. However, my 5 year old niece who is a very picky eater and doesn't eat anything. We had to bring her a soup from the outside so she would eat something. They put us in a garage in the back where there were NO customers. The owner came and staff told us that she can't eat here and made my niece and my brother in law go outside in the freezing weather to go eat in the car. This is absolutely terrible service. It ruined the mood for the family. That we ended up leaving. Common sense: If there was a baby who had to eat baby food, would you kick that baby out for bringing outside food, I highly doubt it. If the owner had integrity, she would have let my niece eat her food. She was starving and starting to cry but did the owner and staff care, the answer is NO. HEARTLESS STAFF! read more
