I'm leaving two stars because the design and layout is nice. On to important matters, food. If you are fan of Brio of yesteryear then this is for you. Otherwise the staff service is tired acting(maybe a covid period thing) and the food is definitely a boxed routine. No love in the dishes whatsoever and near cafeteria style. 3rd time visiting and likely the last. Honestly I have enjoyed a frozen dinner Italian Stouffers meal more in a pinch. Just go to Burntwood Tavern (related entity) where the food is just as good and service is far better. I've eaten here twice and have not been impressed either time. We entered a few weeks ago during a moderately busy time but didn't have to wait for a table. However, once seated we waited for at least 10 minutes without a server. I had to go back up to the hostess station to ask "Do we have a server?" No one knew who it was supposed to be so we waited another 5 minutes for someone to show up. We were almost ready to leave when a guy finally came to our table. Minimal apologies just a typical introduction. On to the meal. We took a few minutes and then ordered food and also wine. It took our server far too long to bring out drinks as I watched him schmoozing with a group of customers at the bar for a while. Food was decent. Pasta with meatballs was quite good. Kids enjoyed their meals. I place a premium on decent (not even great) service and M Italian has failed there both visits. read more

I am a fan of M Italian for a few different reasons. First, their Happy Hour deals are amazing for flatbread/pizzas. You get a whole pie for $7! Sign me up! Second, the atmosphere and the outside patio is amazing for a nice cocktail, brunch or dinner. The service is always pretty good as well. I love the farmhouse pizza as well as the spaghetti bolognese (you can switch out the pasta for zucchini noodles!) and the BREAD is absolutely AMAZING! I believe it's a must-go-to place simply because of the atmosphere and outside patio. read more

While visiting Chagrin Falls for a scenic Christmas adventure, we decided to try this place and we did not regret it. The chicken parmigana was amazing as was the bread and house made oil. The bar also made one of the best long Islands I've had. If you're ever in Chagrin this is a dining experience you must have. This review is going to be based solely on the food as I didn't eat in the restaurant (ate next door after glass blowing) I enjoyed a wonderful meal at M Italian. It's hard for me to go out and eat Italian as my boyfriends mother is from Italy and makes homemade everything but I'm sure glad we ate here. First they bring out the most doughy perfectly seasoned bread with olive oil to dip. I had to use some self control not to eat it all and share. I started off with the arugula and pear salad topped with a fresh lemon vinaigrette and pine nuts. (I don't really like cheese so I opted for no feta) The salad was absolutely out of this world. The only thing I wish there was more of is pear. It was everything fresh as light, to bitter to sweet. The salad was literally perfect. I decided on the Spicy Sicilian wood-fired pizza for my entree (so I can take half home for later) and was super happy that I did. The fresh sausage and pepperoni was delish with the softness of the ricotta. I love spice and the peppers spiced it up perfectly. I also enjoyed that the crust was thicker than a typical wood-fired pizza. I will be back again and will tell others about this place as well. Other people at my table got scallops, zucchini pasta and pumpkin sage raviolis... no one had to go boxes so you know everything was good. read more

My husband and I had dinner from M Italian, that we picked up for Valentine's Day. John, the manager couldn't have been more helpful, with our on line order. We had a gift card to use, and so we had to call, instead of ordering on line. He was so helpful, and I know it was busy there, but he made sure to get everything right! I have to tell you, and that is why I am leaving this review, EVERYTHING was fantastic! My husband had the Tuscan bean soup, and a strip steak. I had the lobster and shrimp fettuccini. Had lunch here today with a dear friend. We sat inside in a corner booth. A bit noisy, but not crazy loud. Our server was Lindsey. She was most accommodating, and a true professional. My friend just wanted a salad. Wanted the arugula and strawberry, but asked for a fruit substitute for the strawberries. Lindsey told her that they could do that, and offered up several choices making her very happy. Salad was crisp and dressing homemade. We loved the bread...warm and served with parmesan cheese, balsamic and evoo. I had the wedge salad...deeeeelious and generous. For my entree....Bistro Chicken with lemon/garlic risotto .... so excellent I wanted to lick the plate clean!!! So full that we passed on dessert. The food was excellent from start to finish, other than severely undercooked clams and random pieces of clam shell scattered throughout the cioppino. The ultra-rare strip steak was cooked perfectly. The wine list is a joke and although the reservationist assured me that corkage was an option, our amateur waiter refused to open the bottle I brought. No biggie, but when the entrees came out less than halfway through our appetizers I realized that this place severely needs a front end manager that even fractionally meets the quality of the kitchen. Delightful place. Ate there on July 11 and was pleased with their COVID accommodations. They kept tables distanced, staff were masked, windows open for circulation. This was the first time I'd eaten in a restaurant since March 17. Yikes. Oh yeah, the food was delicious across a wide range of dishes from salmon salad to grilled chicken salad to avocado toast to the omelet. Iced tea was good, so was the beer. i came here yesterday for sunday brunch with my elderly grandma, her caretaker and my mother. we arrived early and due to a misunderstanding with the hostess, ended up standing next to the table while she prepared it for us (the previous occupants had just left). so here's the thing- i've been a hostess several places, including a bib gourmand restaurant. i was HORRIFIED by this hostess. honestly, management needs to do something about her. to clean off the table, which was covered in large food particles, she roughly wiped all the food off. she actually did it so energetically that food was hitting my grandma, who has dementia and is wheelchair bound and therefore cannot move away from her projectile food flinging. she literally got hit by multiple pieces of old food. additionally, the woven plastic table mat covering our table was filled with small piece of food embedded in the weave. when i was hostessing i would have immediately removed the mat and replaced it with a clean one. your customers should not be sitting and looking at someone else's food while they are waiting for their own. instead the hostess left the mat and threw down some napkins and glasses and left. the food was excellent (particularly the beef carpaccio), our waitress was friendly and helpful but the hostess was atrocious. her carelessness showed a lack of humanity and empathy for my grandmother at worst, and at best a complete unawareness of her surroundings and actions. whoever was working sunday brunch at 12:15 on september 1st needs to go through training again read more

My husband and recently tried this restaurant and were very pleased with both the food and the service. I really enjoyed their crab cake as an appetizer. It was truly one of the best crab cakes in NEO- made with lump crab with just a small amount of bread crumbs. My husband enjoyed their mussels too. Went on a very warm Friday night, very busy, Restaurant was wide open with garage doors to patio open. made it very warm at our table inside. Very trendy restaurant with very nice bar with mostly young people at bar, place is very loud, service was a B plus, food was a B minus. We were walk ins so I expected a wait, and a very friendly manager assured me it was no problem and he could accommodate our walk in Party quickly. Now I realize that he was so quick to offer such assurance because he had no intention of backing it up. Over the next hour and a half we sipped at the bar and watched our table get given away twice before our eyes. Every time it came with a story about how someone else had "just paid their check" and their table would soon be ours. Then when that table was given away there was someone he "forgot about" and another excuse. I then heard him have the same line to another party right next to us and realized the ruse. Glad they are so popular but won't be for long if they keep lying to keep people at the bar with no intention of serving them. Too bad. read more

Some small changes would really help I live within walking distance of M Italian and have eaten there twice. The good: The bread they serve is tasty, the two different pizzas I ordered had good crust (although I wasn't excited about the various types/toppings offered), there is a glass blowing studio you can watch through windows and the prices aren't too unreasonable. The bad: Loud! Often have to yell to the people at your own table. The bread served isn't sliced, table knives aren't sharp enough to cut it and tearing it by hand is messy, squishes the bread and earns frowns for mangling other people's food:( In fact, having learned my lesson on the first visit I actually brought my own serrated knife to slice the bread-- it worked great (see photo) Bottomless drinks are weak and/or served in smaller glasses. Service is spotty, on both visits servers were absent for long periods and we had to work hard to flag anyone over for refills or to replace dropped cutlery, to order additional food/drink. I really believe M could benefit from small(ish) changes. Sound absorbing material or sound management would go a long way. Slicing the table bread before serving or offering a knife that could slice it would be very helpful. Possibly revise pizza selections or try new ones. Maybe rework the bottomless drink execution and remind the staff to keep an eye out for customers trying to get their attention. read more

M Italian never disappoints! My family and I have been there several times. They have an awesome Happy Hour which includes drink specials, 1/2 price all appetizers and 1/2 off all pizzas. Our waitress today was very good. She constantly came back to the table for drink refills and to check-in. The bread and olive oil they bring to the table is delicious. We ordered zucchini as an appetizer and two salads, which they split for easier sharing at the table. We ordered two pizzas and both were great! The food came out in a timely manner and was hot. The atmosphere is awesome. Today the garage doors were open. We can't wait to go back soon! read more

My wife, our friends and I went here for dinner May 10, 2019. The place was hopping. However, it was very noisy and we could barely speak or hear above the din. Our waiter gave us good service but it took along time for the entrees to be served. My wife and one of our friends had the lobster and shrimp linguini. The portions were adequate but the flavors were not developed, i.e., it was a little bland. The other friend had the scallop risotto. He thought this was bland also. I had the sausage and chicken Diavolo. This had a nice flavor but it was essentially penne pasta and chicken in a nice sauce. I had to hunt for the sausage which I think was just a little ground sausage thrown in. All in all we thought the food was pretty good but not outstanding. We likely will not go back due to the overly loud atmosphere. read more

This was my third visit to M Italian. The food has consistently been good. The service, unfortunately, is a little uneven at times. Delivery was slow on water, bread, refills, etc. on this particular visit. The bread and main courses came out at the same time. A manager made the round at tables asking about the food - and it was delicious! Our group had a zucchini noodle pasta dish with feta and kalamata olives (so different and really good!), a pesto pasta and another pasta dish made with local sausage and portobellos. The portions were hearty - most pasta dishes were in the $13-15 range. We were happy to be enjoying a summer-like day in early October and dined outside - beautiful setting. I would like to start off by saying that I love M and I frequent at least once a week. The food is great, the drinks are good too and I love the patio.... However.....upon my last visit I discovered that they no longer have asparagus. After getting over the initial horror, I decided I had to do something about it. So here is my attempt. Dear M. We need asparagus back. My salmon is nothing without its tall, lean, and green counterpart. It's one of the greatest vegetables in existence. It has over 101% daily value of vitamin K in on cup! Guess what vitamin K is good for? Dark circles. Guess who has dark circles? I do. Why? Because I'm at M late night throwing glasses of rosé back. Furthermore, it's an anti-inflammatory and an anti-oxidant. It's the perfect side for any protein! So please, the asparagus has to come back. #BringAsparagusBack Thank you! read more

Super cute spot with awesome food! I went here for brunch today with some friends and loved the breakfast pizza. I would've have given five stars but our service wasn't great. The server didn't know anything about any of the dishes on the menu, we had empty water and requested more and never received it, and lacked knowledge about the restaurant. We never got ketchup we asked for, told us he "didn't think" they had any ranch and never asked if we wanted another round of mimosas. Super polite guy, but definitely lacked basic training. I will be patient all day long but you have to know the menu inside and out if you want to sell it. read more

What a disappointment!! Visited a few yrs back and it was excellent, but last night it was terrible. The only highlight was a valet (Jay), who was kind enough to help my elderly parents get out of my big suv. First off, we had reservations & went at 4pm for dinner. When we arrived, they seated us out on the enclosed patio although there were tables open inside. Inside the ambiance is much nicer, with tablecloths. Outside, no tablecloths and two of our chairs were so low it looked like we needed boosters! Our server was so overwhelmed , we ordered cocktails & an expensive bottle of wine and it took over twenty minutes for it to arrive. For starters we had the Lemon Ricotta which came out with a teaspoon of ricotta spread on bread slices & covered in heavy spicy red pepper flakes instead of the honey that was in description, so we sent it back and when it came out again there was once again the tiniest amount of ricotta & one or two tiny drops of honey. We had a meatball that was complete mush. The mussels & carpaccio apps were fine. For entrees we had the pork chop that was good, but the other three entrees were bad. The eggplant parm was so dry, and very crispy. The halibut crusted with pistachios was very moist but there was such a heavy layer of horseradish on it that it overpowered it. The last entree was the lamb lollipops and the were so thin & dry...definitely overcooked. We always order dessert but after this fiasco we skipped & stopped to get ice cream on the way home.. definitely won't be returning again after wasting $380 on subpar food. read more

There is nothing that stands out about this place one way or another. Exterior: It's got a great Location in Chagrin Falls, one of the few decent restaurants in town. It's the old ski shop location Interior: lots of wood. Rustic looking. There is a very large bar and a really nice patio. When the weather is nice, the patio is the perfect place to hang out. In the winter, the patio is under cover and heated... which is nice Clientele: the good, bad and ugly of Chagrin Falls. If you are from this area, you know what I'm talking about. You can run into anyone you might know here. Don't go looking homeless, because you absolutely will run into somebody. Attire: casual. Jeans are fine. Food: good enough but not fabulous. It's Italian. Simple but not anything I would crave. You will not have a bad meal here. Your meal will always be, "ok". I'm not a great cook, but some of my meals could be as good as theirs. Final thoughts: it's got a great patio and vibe. I mostly end up there when I don't feel like leaving Chagrin Falls and I want to go out to eat. Worth trying.... you might like it. read more
