We just moved into our new apartment and needed to get our locks re-keyed. Our landlord was unable to do so before we moved in, so we coordinated with M.J. Borg personally (I think our landlord typically utilizes his company). M.J. Borg was great: kind, fast, and efficient. I called earlier in the week and left a message that we needed to get our place re-keyed, and he called back the day after and was able to do the procedure within an hour. The lock change took no more than 20 minutes. He was extremely courteous and he wore a mask the entire time. I felt safe having this locksmith in our home. My landlord is took care of the cost, so I cannot comment on pricing. But this review 100% recommends M.J. Borg based on customer service, skill, and efficiency. read more

We were traveling for a month and secured our vehicle with "The Club". Unfortunately I forgot the key at home before we left. Our tech (presume it was Mr Borg?) answered promptly at 8am and was at our hotel in 20 minutes. Even better, this guy actually knows what he is doing. I called M.J. Borg Locksmith to schedule an appointment. He came on time, was very polite and informed me that it's more convenient to have all my Schlage locks keyed to 1 key. He explained the work he was going to do in detail. He is very knowledgeable. He made my locks work with one key and they worked better than when they were new. I would give Mike Borg a 10 star rating if they had one on Yelp. I called him on a Thursday morning and asked for a visit to do some re keying and open a safe for me. He showed up at my home on time and was very pleasant from the very start. He took the time to give me a detailed explanation of what was required to perform the tasks I had asked him to do. He also provided me with a detailed list of parts, labor and incidentals in writing. Each item was identified and listed with the price spelled out. He started work and as I was hanging around he proceeded to explain what he was doing at the time. This alone made it very easy for me to be completely relaxed and satisfied with his very friendly and professional attitude. He finished the job very promptly, cleaned up after himself, explained again what he had done and prepared to leave. I asked him a few questions and he very graciously answered them without any reservation although his cellular phone was ringing at that time. I am very satisfied with Mike's work. This vendor tried to sell me a new lock for the bedroom of my apartment and claimed it would be cheaper than just ordering another key. The key is a generic one and retails for about .80 cents each online. Don't deal the fool. read more

What great service!! The owner is Mike and that's who will be out to do the work! I needed to change the front door lock as well as the garage lock. Called Mike up and he was able to come out right away. The locks were original and Mike said he never had seen such a "sticky" lock and he's been doing this for 30 years. I called and set up appointment. No one showed or called. Was given price of $145 to change to deadbolt locks with their door handle locks all to work with one key. Price was the best after calling 5 other shops in the area. Once date and time was set, I waited for 3 hours, wherein their appointment was sandwiched between that 3 hour time period. I called and left message the next day. Received a telephone message reply, but they thought that it was the day after. Someone there blew it. I could not make it the next day because I told them I had a previous appointment that I could not cancel. There was no excuse for this oversight. No one even gave me a courtesy call to let me know that they could not make it. If you do not want to blow your time waiting and waiting and waiting, then run from this place and find another shop. I am very disappointed in them. The next week I called several times, but no one was tending business to answer the telephone. The calls were made during their working hours. Only after I left my message did they call the next week saying that they thought the appointment was for 4:00 PM. I waited from 3:00 PM until 6:30 PM giving them the benefit that someone might be taking up more time because of complications from another job. Not so. No one tending business as they should have done. No one calling to follow up on no show. No one calling to let me know they would be late. No one calling the next day. No one calling to confirm anything, not that I expected it. When someone tells me that they will be there the next day at 4:00 PM, I take them at their word and I will hold them to it. I wasted my time waiting at this rental property. It was not my home and the unit was being repaired after the tenant trashed it amounting to almost $50,000 of damage...not $5,000, but $50,000. So I could not trust the tenant who kept the remaining keys, along with his son. I needed the locks changed immediately, but M.J.Borg Locksmith put me on low priority...worse than low. They did not want the business and gave me the business. Cheaper to just go out and buy the locks you need in a kit for 1/3rd the price they were charging. I was trying to throw money at them, but they are interested in other things, I guess. Their loss. Now it is time for me to tell my story and let you, the customer, beware. If you want to lose your precious time, call them. If you want to save time and most importantly, your money, go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a kit which is a lot cheaper. BE FOREWARNED...RUN FROM THESE PEOPLE. Your time and money is worth more than their promise to be there after you took the time to make an appointment. Even giving them a second and third chance to make it right, they still did not return my calls even after leaving them my telephone number, name and where they were suppose to be at 4:00 PM. RUN FROM THEM. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT AND THEY DO NOT THINK YOU ARE WORTH IT. SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS AT THAT SHOP. read more
