After work one night, I searched on the internet for NYC/Westchester design firms that may be able to assist. I found that most firms wanted $2000 just to create a design for me. I am so glad I discovered Bark. I put my requirements in and found MCollection & Design through Bark. Michelle called me the next day (the MOST pleasant, friendly and responsive person ever!) and she explained that they could help me design the space for $500 and also help in the search for the sofabed, rugs, desks, bookcases etc. I would just purchase the bulk of the items from her firm. This was perfect for me because I have a very demanding job and didn't want to spend hours on my own looking for items and then purchase them and find out that what I bought didn't fit in the space-- thus wasting money. I gave Michelle my budget, my color scheme and sent her some examples of couches and desk styles that I liked. The next day I got emails of sourced items that she thought I would like! Just great response time! I liked many of the items that she found and those which I didn't, Michelle was happy to give me more choices. In addition, MCollection was able to take my floorplan and electronically show me different scenarios for the furniture layouts. The furniture was conveniently sent to my apartment and MCollection also connected me to a handyman who put my desk and bookcases together. He even hung my artwork. (I had had a difficult time finding someone who had a COI which my building requires). Furthermore, during the process, I was also assigned a designer, Shawn (also the most pleasant responsive person), who came to my apartment to check on the progress of the project. They were able to find a queen sized sofa bed that fit beautifully in the space along with the desk and bookcases I wanted. Within approximately 30 days, I had my office set up! I am so glad that Bark led me to MCollection. It saved me hours in searching for a design firm that would fit my needs. I got professionals who helped me design and source my office/guest room just the way I wanted it. The process was very collaborative and fast! Michelle was amazing -- even though I wasn't purchasing directly from M Collection, she contacted Gus Modern to sleuth out the make of the fabric and the cleaning methods that would be safe to try, and she kindly kept me updated on status along the way. You don't want all the different shapes for your rugs. Rectangles and circles are basically it. Here at Industry City, Dorge was my dude. He had his people pull out the three different rugs we were considering in the size stack we liked so we could see them out on a floor. This is NOT an easy process, and I would've really felt a little bad not buying a rug after seeing the labor involved in pulling the rugs out,...but luckily we wanted one of them. He was super nice, knew his business, and gave us a little bit of a deal. These are not the most affordable rugs in the world, but they're also not the most expensive. And most importantly, the quality is good.

We were there for a couple of hours talking pros and cons on pieces, measuring present pieces to compare sizes of those we were looking at in catalogs, and comparing colors. Mr Steve had the utmost patience with us and our multitude of questions. I was going out of town for two weeks the day after ordering everything. While on my trip Mr Steve called to coordinate delivery and was very understanding of my being gone. He even offered to let me pay the remaining balance on my order after I was back in town instead of over the phone when it had arrived in store. He also offered to bring a rug I had had my eye on but hadn't bought to try it out in our space with our other furniture. We've now gone to Vesta several times for additional furniture pieces and have been completely satisfied each time.

I live in Red Hook so I went to the closest - "Make a Frame" over on Atlantic Avenue in Cobble hill - who priced me at $174.00 for just one - and no discount on five!!! At those prices maybe they do have Jesus framing, but some how I doubt it. So searched Yelp again and found Brooklyn Art who priced me at $20.00 each!!!! INSANE! Why would I pay $154.00 more - on each one! - over at M.A.F.? I doubt there would've been that much of a qualitative difference noticeable to the eye. Just take a look at the pic I've attached - a beautiful job! I got all 5 done for $100. Great quality and turn around was just as insane. Dennis had done in just a few days. I'm sure Van Gogh would give his left ear, if he still had it, to have his works framed at Brooklyn Art - and you should too, but Dennis only takes cash & credit cards so the good news is you can walk out with both your ears, however if you go to that place on Atlantic avenue it could cost you and arm and leg - HEY OH!

The Chair Factory has a large "covid 19 sale" banner out front but when I visited the salesman I talked to refused to wear a mask stating that "he had already had covid" even as cases are on the rise all over the country, unnecessarily endangering the lives of his customers. He seemed put off when I then asked we stand 6 feet apart. This behavior goes beyond inconsiderate and enters the territory of reckless and terrifying. Do not shop here if you value your life. As a reminder, we are in the middle of a pandemic, we wear masks for the safety of others not for ourselves, even if you have endured COVID it is possible to get it again. So I'm walking through Park Slope with my Dad after a lovely lunch on 5th Ave when I see a shop…read morecalled "Trailer Park." That doesn't happen too often, right? So without much thought at all I declared that we needed to go inside and started across the street. What could Dad say? He gave me a look that clearly said "you're weird" and followed me in. Once inside we were greeted by dozens of items that I swear are in my Grandfathers basement right now. Dad must have been reading my mind b/c he actually said "I think you're grandfather has a couple of those in the basement" while pointing to a set of vinyl suitcases. The entire store is filled, floor to ceiling, with vintage pieces of all sizes and shapes. Big ticket items like tables, chairs and trunks to smaller accessories of baskets & picture frames. The layout and arrangement made it hard to navigate the store and what was more confusing was the location (I think) of the cash register & counter area... It's hidden behind a huge pile of stuff so you can't even see the front door if you're sitting behind the counter. Oh and we were in the shop for a good ten minutes and I don't think I saw the owner/manager once. I though that was weird.. and I can't forget to mention- I found the store to have a bit of a musty smell... which makes sense if you think about the items inside. While I don't think I'd purchase anything it was a cool shop to walk through and brought back memories of Gramps. If you're looking for some nostalgia- stop by Trailer Park
