Went to try it out. Had standard Mexican fair, beef burrito, rice, beans, queso for the chips. It was the blandest, most tasteless food I've had anywhere in my over 6 decades of living. Nothing had any flavor. I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about unless our orders were a complete fluke. I don't know how you can make food that tasteless. Never went back. If you want really good authentic Mexican, go to Guadalajara in Spearfish. It's the best around. read more

This was our first visit to Ma Cualli and we will definitely be back. High end Mexican/american. Enough spice for the Midwest pallet but not overwhelming. The steak was cooked perfectly and so were all the other meats. read more

This place is great. Above average Food across the board. The ambience is fairly nice.. It has somewhat of a sports bar feel slightly, which is odd but seems to work. Their guac is superb I would say. I can't think of a guac that I have tried that is any better than this. Their chips are tasty and their queso is very good. They have a lot of options for street tacos which isn't something you see at every Mexican place. So overall, this isn't your average run of the mill Mexican joint. We ordered a large selection of takeout items for a family dinner at home. Ordering online was very simple, the food was ready quickly. We got it home and unpacked it all and plated up, family style. We were a little bummed that they forgot to pack our queso and extra sides of salsa but honestly... the food was SO GOOD that we didn't miss the extra sauces too much. We had ordered enchiladas, a flight of tacos, a shrimp dinner and also got some chips and salsa. It was absolutely delicious. I honestly can't wait to get the full dine-in experience next time because the servers seemed so friendly, the restaurant seemed elegant and the lighting was really nice. What a jewel in Rapid City! Had a short wait and immediately after being seated the waitstaff were there to help. Amazing huge house margaritas, delicious queso, fresh made guac! Went for lunch on Saturday about 3pm and the place was quite busy. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waitress. The meals came fast and were all tasty and delicious. Queso burrito with chicken was packed with chicken, peppers and onions (not rice and beans as fillers like you find at a lot of places). Burria tacos were stuffed with tender meat and served with rice, beans and consumme. We live in TX and this place far-surpassed most of the restaurants we've been to. Keep up the good work! I give 3 stars simply for the fact that they had moved me tables once I was sat, and the servers lack of interaction with the entire table. Firstly we were greeted very nicely, and respectfully by the host. The restaurant was full and we were put on a waitlist, expected time 25-30 minutes, we were sat in about 10 at the bar. We sat for about 7 minutes before being greeted and asked for id. We were unaware the bar top was 21 only and were not told prior to seating to provide id. Once letting the server know I didn't want alcohol and only water she spoke in Spanish to my friend leaving me completely out of the conversation, basically telling him we cant sit at the bar, the only time she spoke to me directly was to give me water after we were put back in the waiting area and all she said was "there you go." Very frustrating considering this could very easily be solved by id-ing at the host stand before seating people at the bar or before offering bar seating. Very unprofessional to ask people to move seats due to the businesses lack of efforts to prevent seating people under 21 at the bar. Other than this, the food was good. Seating was comfortable and spacious, and the service from Luis was excellent. Spoke in Spanish to my hispanic friend and even included me in conversation after noticing I didn't know Spanish. Food came out very fast, but it seemed it did only because of the misunderstanding with the seating at the bar which is very much appreciated. On the other hand no manager came to talk with us about the misunderstanding or apologize which was very disappointing, but regardless, it was a busy night and it seems like a once in a while misunderstanding to happen which is understandable as I have worked as a server for 6 years now and can acknowledge it was not personal and simply a misunderstanding. At the end of the day, the food was great, Luis was an amazing server, I am simply just disappointed with the problem solving skills of the staff and their procedures to prevent things like this from happening in the first place. read more

Salsa and chips are very good too a the vibe is good for a date (bar) or families (tables). They've been swamped since they open so the service is pretty slow. Food was really delicious and the ingredients were very fresh. The environment is very clean and modern. Lots of parking available. The guac was made right at our table, he did ask if we wanted everything in it (which we did) however if you do have an allergy to one of the guac ingredients I would suggest saying something before hand because they do not switch the bowl from the previous made guac. The food came out very quickly. My only downside to the visit was the service. Once we were sat it took awhile for someone to get our drink order, we did not get any check ins after the food arrived and I did have to get someone who wasn't our server to get the check. read more

The Guacamole was awesome , that said , they served pickled jalapeños , runny sour crème and very sparse but well cooked meat on the expensive fajitas. The pina colada was terrible and clearly from a mix, but the margarita was fantastic. Don't bother speaking to a manager , he frankly does not care if you enjoyed your overpriced fajitas with store bought flour tortillas. Terrible reservation/call ahead system. Were told upon arrival it would be 15 more minutes. Sat in unheated freezing cold lobby area for over an hour before finally leaving without a table 2 hours after calling in. Impossible to eat here. read more
