Basque Burger with fries and black cherry ketchup (€19)
    Nicholas C.

Had the opportunity to visit Ma Salle a Manger during my trip to Paris. Translated to English, this place would be know as "My Dining Room", and after my experience there is definitely seemed that I had been served a great meal in the coziness of someones own dining room. When I arrived I was surprised to see how small the space actually was. They do have outdoor seating but since winter was wrapping up it still was too cold to have tables placed outside at night. We were immediately seated since it seemed to be a quieter than usual night. Our server was extremely attentive! We were immediately greeted and asked for our drink preferences. When it came time to order I had asked for something that would be considered the restaurants staple dish. The waitress recommended the Basque burger with fries and black cherry ketchup. It was SO GOOD. If you're on the fence while reading this, just make yourself happy and choose the burger. You won't regret it. Overall this place seems like a good spot for a casual dinner experience. The season waitstaff and decor made for a homey feel. Come here with a friend or significant other if you're just looking for a really great and relaxing dining experience.

Gourmet food - absolutely delicious! Wonderful fresh flavors - dessert was great Also. Best creme brûlée ever! Friendly chef and waitress. Bon appetit!

OMG awesome! This is the correct choice on the square I had the Burger Basque delicious! My hubby had the boeuf bourguigon that was awesome, he loved it. Coffee large great now for the creme brûlée.... Oh yeah that was delicious! The flavour of everything was spot on and tasted homemade, try the burger it is different in a great way! Bathroom is downstairs and a bit daunting for BIG AMERICANS... We found it precious and the spiral staircase easier to navigate then the fire trap we rented through Airbnb.

My first meal in any new and foreign city tends to be my most favorite. Such was the case with me and this restaurant. My dinner here wrapped up a nice long day after traveling into Paris. Ma Salle a Manger is a small unpretentious restaurant located at the northern tip of lle de la Cite (City Island). I chose it because it was rated highly on Trip Advisor and I happened to be in the neighborhood. Like I mentioned it is tiny, and on the night I visited the inside was packed with customers so I was forced to eat outside. But that worked out fine because directly above my head was a warm heating lamp. Plus I got to enjoy the very cool looking cobble stone street. My dinner meal couldn't have been better. My duck confit was superb. My au gratin potatoes were to die for (cooked in a cute ceramic bowl). And my onion soup was proof that onion soup doesn't need cheese to make it taste good (yup, it had no cheese but the onions were caramelized to perfection). However the most memorable thing about my meal was my dessert, creme brulee. It was perhaps the best creme brulee I've ever had in my life. Take a look at the photo I snapped. Tell me that doesn't look like a work of art that should be hanging in the Louvre? It tasted even better than it looked. Prices were very very reasonable. I got an entrée|plat|dessert deal and a glass of wine for only 31 Euros. Wow. So one of my best meals in Paris was also my cheapest. Lastly, the cute server girl working the whole restaurant was super terrific. She was very accommodating with my English, and helped me out with the menu and wine list (her wine recommendation was spot on too). If there weren't so many darn choices in the city, I could have easily eaten here every day for four days straight and been perfectly happy.

Fantastic. Great place to stop and eat after a day of walking. Extremely Nice staff that spoke some English. Great house wine. Very small spot with not a lot of tables and you might feel cramped but I found it cozy!!!

We loved this little restaurant for its outdoor ambiance, the food and reasonable prices. If you are in the area come check it out. Just enjoying a glass of wine with an appetizer in this location on the sidewalk gives you a good idea of life in Paris. The park nearby provides lots to look at while you enjoy your meal. We did come twice, the first time the restaurant was not as busy as the 2nd and it showed in a slight decline food but it was still solid. In fact we had the same server both times and each time he was amazing, funny and welcoming even though the second time he was very overwhelmed by the amount of customers to servers. It's off the beaten path and yummy!

This is a great place for lunch after sightseeing at Notre Dame, Pont Neuf, and other sites on the Ile de Cite. The staff is friendly, perhaps even a bit eccentric but in a fun way. We went traditional and shared cheese and charcuterie plates, and I had a fantastic onion soup. The wine is excellent, and the lead server (maybe owner?) provides good descriptions and background on the wines. A mix of locals and tourists.

Don't think twice! Just go here!

"We have good cheese " said the amazing waiter. He wasn't wrong. Small selection of of meals but it's only because they are gourmet and perfected to the "T"! Great selection of wine. The waiter knew every detail about everything on the menu. He spoke English perfectly and was very patient. The menu is translated in English. It's located in a cute, quaint square with outdoor seating but not too much street traffic. It's call and peaceful where you can have a good conversation. Just go here. You won't be disappointed.

Just finished a long bike ride to the Eiffel Tower and worked up an appetite. Decided to go straight to the main course. They are known for Au Gratins. My son is not a cheese fan so he opted for the norvigene (smoked salmon in dill lemon and EVOO. I decided to stick with the house specialty; Landais Au Gratin (cream potatoes, duck breast and emmental cheese). The 2 girls beside me ordered a cider with both their meals so I followed their lead. When in Paris...... Considering the temperature, I almost second-guess myself and ordered something other than their house specialty of au gratin potatoes. In the end, I was very glad I overruled that thought. Brody enjoyed his meal. He just appeared to still be hungry when it was done and a 16 year-old boy that normally has a high caloric intake, I can understand why he wanted a second meal after eating his first! The restaurant in the patio were quite crowded even though we had reservations. They still sat us within five minutes of arrival. Not five minutes is a long time away, but it was still worth the weight as good as the food tasted. We both enjoyed our meals.

Didn't blow me away, but was solid with the creaminess of the sliced potatoes and emmental cheese combined together with mixed vegetables. The cheese was very strong though, so anything else was unfortunately pretty much overpowered by it. Arrived with bread, but it DEFINITELY could use other carb options to sop it all up (e.g., rice???)! = Landais - Cheese gratin with duck. Same comment as the above, except the Landais had egg and goat cheese also mixed in with almost the same ingredients as the Fermier. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + The lone waitress, who also worked the role as greeter, cashier and bartender was friendly. + Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

First, the cheese failed to emit the baked, melted gruyere cheese, there is no aroma at all. I don't think they used gruyere cheese. May be mozzarella cheese. The worst part was the bread in the soup. It tasted stale which ruin the flavor of the soup. I had to finish without the bread. Escargot - Another disappointment. What made escargots special was the garlic butter and herb. Here, there were the herbs, no garlic, and French is famous with their butter but I taste oil but not buttery. Other places I actually get excited dipping the bread into the garlic butter but not here. Pan seared Foie gras - The quality of Foie Gras was definitely there. It's not as well seared as I hope but they managed to cook it through without overcooking it. The size of Foie Gras is kind of scary, it's like a small piece of rib eye steak. With just the onion soup and Foie Gras, I could barely swallow anything. Generous portion.

We were the first two in line so when the doors opened at 8 - we were able to get a small table. The restaurant is located behind the bar and is very small - it seats only 20-30 people. However, if you're craving steak in Paris - it's probably one of the best Argentine steakhouses around. The theme is very Heavy Metal and the menu has a lot of sexual innuendos so if you're rather conservative then you might have a problem but then again you probably won't be staying on this side of the city. The service was excellent - we had one waitress for the entire room but she was on top of everything! Best service we had for our entire Paris trip! The food was decent - not the best steak but not the worst. The portions on the steak were small but the portion size for the potatoes was huge. Make sure to get the extra sauce assortment and try them all with both the steak and potatoes. I ordered a chicken salad which came a little too drenched in dressing - not sure if that was normal or they thought I'd like it that way being from the states. Creme brûlée was decent. We also ordered empanadas as an appetizer - they resembled a pair of testicles - we got a kick out of that! In summary, decent food (maybe a little $$ for the quality) but the service was excellent and the theme was entertaining - heavy metal and sex. We bought a t-shirt to remember our night.
