I made an online order through their website for pickup. The website was easy to use and the order was ready for pickup exactly as scheduled. I ordered the mixed appetizer sampler, tabouli, and gyro entree. The mixed appetizer comes with pita, baba ganoush, stuffed grape leaves (dolmas), falafel, and hummus. The pita was good and the hummus tasted homemade and was a bit heavy on canned chickpea flavor. The falafel was solid as well. The dolmas and the baba ganoush were far superior in flavor. The tabouli was massive and really could be split amongst 4 adults as a side dish. I thought it was okay and was heavy on the parsley. The gyros were actually quite good. Overall, I thought the food quality was good (not spectacular), but the prices are reasonable and the portions are large. Competition in the area is sparse. This place is the new exclusive. I can't believe I have lived near it and haven't eaten it up until this point. We brought my mother here for her birthday meal, as she requested Mediterranean. The menu indicates "generous portions" at the beginning of each description of meat dishes, and they are not exaggerating. Portions are very generous. And the meat is moist, delicious, and perfectly seasoned. As is the rice. We placed a pick up order over the phone... Kids chicken kabob with rice for me(because I'm gluten free) and the same for my son. Hate to say it but they were rude on the phone. Went in to pick up the order 30 min later(when they said it would be done) and it wasn't even started. Waited for it to be done. Got home to find that they unfortunately got my order completely wrong. They gave me regular gyro meat over rice & the same ground up chicken meat(not the kabob I ordered) same for my son. I am a really big fan of authentic "homemade tasting" Mediterranean Food. Good news is I have found that here at Maan's. The service is so friendly. The ambience is cozy and comfortable ... the smells of delicious food made it difficult to decide just which option I should go with. I ended up with the lamb/ground sirloin and shrimp kabob entree. It came with a char-grilled tomato and onion, yummy rice and crispy green salad with sautéed almonds! Yum! My family enjoyed the gyro entree that came with homemade hummus, rice and salad! Chicken Tekah is also very flavorful. Hummus is as good as I've had, and for a little extra you can get spicy hummus. It's very hot, watch out! So good though Prices are decent as well I'd have to say. You get a really good portion for what you pay in my opinion. One entree will feed 2 people easily. We finally get around to try this place and boy did we didn't get blown away by every bite of the food. We both don't like hummus but we finished the hummus from here! I personally always avoid pickle but their pickle really on another whole level. I would say that this restaurant serve authentic flavor compare to other Mediterranean restaurants we've had before. Such a great local spot! Seriously there is so much garlic in the food you need to sleep in separate bedrooms from your partner for a few days but the food is great, and the portions are generous. They have a number of gluten free items, mostly the kabobs and the rice. They were pretty knowledgeable on the phone, but the man I spoke to did make a double check on if the rice was gluten free. The falafel was bar none the worst I've ever had -- dry, tasteless, over fried, and not even shaped into balls but oblong disasters. Barely edible. The gyro was bar none the worst I've ever had -- 95% lettuce/wrap, 4% tomatoes, 1% meat. (see attached photo) The humus. I've literally made better humus in my food processor, it is not "authentic", and I would bet not even made in house. 'Where's the tahini? The french fries. The service here is very unwelcoming, but the food is decent. When i had to approach the counter for assistance i would politely ask for something, but nothing was said in return and the body language was unpleasant. We had planned to eat in, but our toddler had other plans so I had to ask for to go containers for two large entrees and an appetizer. The guy at the counter handed me one small container and one large one saying, "One small, and one large," as if to say this is all he would offer me. I REALLY don't like writing bad reviews, but last night compelled me to write this. Now, I've been visiting Maan's for over 2 years now and the FOOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD! In fact, last night, the FOOD WAS STILL VERY GOOD! No complaints there at all. What disappointed me was the wait. It took them almost an hour to make my order. However, while waiting, a few things stood out: there were 3 cooks doing their best to prepare and make the orders but they were totally inefficient with their time. That goes back to proper training. However, what really upset me was the owner was just standing there at the cash register watching TV and doing nothing else! If he was paying attention to his restaurant, he would have noticed: - Plates needed to be cleared from some of the tables - Floors were filthy and needed to be mopped - The trash needed to be taken out - There's a LOT of old grease on the hood behind the grill - The doors for the cabinet for the soda fountain were filthy and crooked - He had 5 other people waiting around for their orders all with their arms folded. No apologies, no chit chat with customers, no offers of water or a soda for waiting, and no hospitality. I'm not saying the owner HAS to do any of this, but this is your business, man! It did not have pickles or onions/tomatoes which was fine by me. It also didn't come with tahini. It had rice, pita, hummus and a garlic mayo sauce. Plus side salad. The salad was crisp and everything else was tasty. I did ask for a side of tzatziki and that was disappointing. I crave Mediterranean food for the sauces but the tzatziki was very strong on the mint. My boyfriend got the burger and fries and while the fries were obviously the frozen kind they were really tasty with extra spices and cooked perfectly. The food wasn't the typical Mediterranean or Greek that I'm used to. There was no pita included in my order with three items ordered. I got the gyro entree, the sampler appetizer & a Greek salad with chicken kebabs. The gyro entree was mostly white basmati rice with chopped almonds. That was the part I thought was most odd. I would've liked the majority of the entree to be the Greek salad & the smaller potion be the the rice which wasn't seasoned. There wasn't any feta in the Greek salad & it had black olives. Once again odd. It should've had Kalamata olives. The gyro & the hummus were very good. That was my favorite part. The person working in their seemed annoyed by my mother & I. He was on the back when we arrived & we weren't sure what was going on for a few minutes because the other two people working were just waiting for the guy who works the register to come out. Four stars for good food, with a few oddities. The good: tekah chicken is tender and flavorful, baba ghanoush is on point. The weird: I called to place a phone order for pick up. No answer, so I went to their website to order online. It is their own website, not a third-party service. I ordered the family pack which comes with hummus, and requested to substitute baba ghanouj. When I arrived at the restaurant, I noticed that all of the prices on their posted menu are $.50 cheaper than when you order online, even though it is through their direct website. Also strange that the menu on the wall is missing four or five appetizers that are included in the online menu. I was less than pleased when I was charged a $2.50 upcharge for my substitution when the two items are exactly the same price. When I asked, I was told "that is what the owner said." Their baba ghanoush is great, so I went ahead with it. The family pack for 2 is generous: 3 kabobs, rice, 2 side salads, hummus and pita for $29. Substitutions, as I mentioned, will be upcharged generously. I was disappointed to find that they put dressing on the salads.
