I've ordered from this TKS location via DoorDash multiple times & it's always so delicious. I placed a pick up order since I was nearby after running errands. By the time I got here my food was ready to go, & the red headed girl who helped me was so nice! I asked for an extra dill yogurt sauce & she said, 'how's two?' Very nice & clean restaurant, great & friendly service! I'm pretty addicted to the Mezze Crunch bowl with chicken shawarma, but everything is always fresh & yummy. 10/10 will be ordering from here again! read more

My fiance and I decided to try this place out for a quick take out dinner.... Years ago, we went to another TKS location....and I wasn't really impressed by it, but I wanted to give this place a try. There are plenty of options- build your own, mix and match, etc. There's something for everyone here. Really. Bowls, plates, wraps, etc. The good: 1. Located in a huge strip mall. There's plenty of parking. 2. No complaints about the service...very friendly 3. The place is clean The meh: 1. I really wasn't impressed by the food. Hate to say it! It needed more flavor...which is exactly the same issue at the other TKS location. 2. I'm really happy we took our food to go because the place is hot. 3. UPDATE JUNE 30, 2026: You can find this information online......During March 27-April 30th, 2026, an outbreak of E-coli was reported on the San Diego news. 9 people were hospitalized, including children. That outbreak resulted in a lawsuit coming from the parents of one of the children who was gravely ill and hospitalized. All people hospitalized had eaten the Beef Kofka (ground beef). The Kabob Shop's supplier, Olympia Foods was blamed. Now do we currently have a June outbreak, only the meat affected is Shaved Lamb-Beef???? Original review: I'm not sure what was going on in this restaurant the night of Friday, June 26, but I had to report a health issue caused by the food shown in my pic from that night. The disgusting smell from this order was so bad, I had to take it out of the kitchen. It literally smelled like dog poop. The dish in question is the Lamb/Beef Plate, which had a pile of meat, accompanied by enough yellow rice to feed many, and a teensey piece of dry pita bread. There also was a missing salad. All I can say is beware because the reviews here are 95% positive, and our past experiences with The Kebab Shops have been good. It could have been just a one-off that night, but it doesn't seem so. Judging by the extensive questioning that DoorDash did when handling my complaint, I just know something more was going on that night to have made me so sick. God, do I love The Kebab Shop. There was one of these spots back in Encinitas when we lived there. And it had become a regular option when we wanted to go out for something easy that everyone could enjoy. From the perfectly cooked fries, that are great on their own or stuffed into your wrap, to the juicy and flavorful kofta and shawarma options, everything here pleases. The Grilled Veggie and Citrus Chickpea sides are personal favorites. The menu has changed since those days a decade or so ago. Gone are the days the set wraps or plates. It has been replaced by the newer style of pick from List A, then B, then two from C, etc. It's simple, customizable, and cuts down on the swapping of unwanted items out of your lunch across the table. And the option of having a bar where you can load up on Cilantro Jalapeño and Dill Yogurt sauces is a very welcome addition. This is a new location, making it clean and bright. And it's a welcome addition the area and the shopping center. I'm usually not one for franchise shops, but The Kebab Shop still seems to be focusing more on the food than purely maximizing profit, and it shows. As far as qualms about the place go, the costs have almost doubled since we have gone to this shop last, but that's the sign of the times. And honestly, the food is so good, I didn't even mind that all that much. Second, it feels like they've cut back on the amount of protein they add into their wraps. Before, it felt stuffed with shawarma or gyro meat. Now, it's more balanced with the veggies and rice. That's still fine, the flavor and textures are still there in good quantity. It's just that feeling of a drop in overall value. Regardless, The Kebab Shop is still high up there in my eyes. I've already been back a number of times since my initial visit, which really is a testament to how much I enjoyed the food and experience here. I always love this place! The food is always good! Service is good. I ordered ahead and got a plate of chicken shawarma, shrimp, saffron rice, salad, pita bread, and I added some hummus. My friend got his with grilled veggies. We never get shrimp or the chicken shawarma and I'm glad I did! It's so good! The shrimp is so flavorful and so is the chicken! It was so much food! I am not normally in the San Marcos area, but we traveled out to Vista to go to the furniture stores and wanted a quick but delicious lunch. I love kebab shop from downtown SD in East Village and other locations so I wanted to try this one out. Google Maps sent us to the other side of the parking lot by the sports bar, but it's actually to the right when you come off of S Twin Oaks Valley Road into the parking lot next to Mr. taco The inside was clean. You can order on a kiosk or order with a person at the counter. We decided to eat there, so they gave us a buzzer. They have about 4 tables outside and about double that inside. Fountain drinks and some of the most popular sauces are there for you to grab. My bf got the chicken shawarma wrap. He loved it as per usual. It was what he was craving and it was even enough for us to save a bit for leftovers. I had the grain bowl with the saffron rice and the carved lamb beef shawarma. This is a brand new location and the food is great, the place is squeaky clean, and the service is very friendly. My only small complaint is the menu. It doesn't show all the possible menu items. For example, I know they have a protein bowl (because I ordered it) but good luck finding it on the menu. By the way, while their wraps are amazing, the protein bowl is a delicious, much lower calorie meal. I'm kicking myself because I forgot to take a picture of it. But it's legitimately very good. Oh how the Kabab shop has changed from 10 years ago! My first experience was the little Italy one, and now they've expanded all the way up to north county. Glad they are near me now. Located right across from state, I came during a weekday after lunch, so it wasn't busy. Took a bit for me to understand the ordering on the iPad and what's included. It's chipotle style, order a wrap, bowl or salad, add your protein and toppings. I ordered the wrap with carved beef lamb. All wraps come with lettuce, slaw, pickled onions, tomato/cucumber and yogurt sauce. I added rice, jalapeños and tzatziki sauce. They ran out of cilantro jalapeños but had the fire chili for that spice kick. The wrap came thin and there were a decent amount of meat and toppings. Not overly generous but not super stingy. Would love a little more meat though. Who wouldn't? It tasted good, like what I remembered. The meat wasn't overly dry and had good flavors. I prefer TKS over the pita guys. I saw they had a kids eat free every Saturday and Sunday. That's super nice and we'll have to come on the weekend to take advantage of this deal. Glad one opened up here! read more

Visited the first location in East Village right after it opened and loved it. Traveled to Rancho Bernardo as it was closer for years. Now, finally two locations that are closer; Escondido and here at San Marcos. Went on opening day and ordered the favorites. I have been eating at The Kebab Shop for over ten years now. I first started going to their location downtown! I love their carved lamb/beef wraps and all of the customization options! You can order at the kiosk or with one of the workers. I came here this week and ordered some crave fries. I asked how much it would cost to add the carved lamb/beef and it would have been $10 so I passed on that. The worker, Andy, called out my order and gave me some carved lamb/beef on my crave fries! I was so stoked and happy that he gave me some of the lamb/beef. This location is usually pretty chill and the food has been great the past two visits! First time we tried this place- the employees were super nice and explained how the menu worked (similar to chipotle/build your own bowl or wrap). We got a chicken skewer plate which was good. Chicken was a little dry but the rice and Greek salad were good and came w ranch and balsamic dressing. The pita bread and tzatziki we ordered on the side was very good! Bread was soft and fluffy and tzatziki was thick and had a nice garlic flavor. Price point is a little high but for a healthy option I'd come back. read more

I rarely write reviews on Yelp but I felt the need to give this place its flowers. The Kebab Shop in San Marcos not only impressed me with the quality of the food but also the service. I placed an order through the online kiosk for the harvest plate and wanted the steak, but apparently, when I got my order I saw the chicken kebab. I notified the team members that I thought I had added the steak and both the lady at the register and one of the cooks told me, " no problem, we'll get that taken care of for you" and I received a steak kebab at no extra cost. I was surprised at how accommodating they were. There was no dispute and they didn't need to check my receipt. Come to find out, it was my mistake after all. I've been back here multiple times ever since that happened so you can say this review is long overdue. TKS has some of the best tasting food around town. Five stars, and highly recommend. read more

I'll start this review with the positives; the team here is amazing, and the atmosphere is great. This small Mediterranean food establishment is something we have loved for years. We remember our first visit in Encinitas, across from the current location. We loved it so much, we started bringing our children here. Years of Kebab Shop visits were something everyone looked forward to. Unfortunately, something has changed. Something so significant that it has turned our three kids off, and they don't want to come back. They changed the chicken. It used to be Doner-style chicken, roasted on an upright broiler. They would cut it straight off, and it was the best shawarma around. Our kids could eat their weight in it. It's not like that anymore. The chicken seems to be regular, cubed chicken breast. It doesn't taste like the Kebab Shop we grew to love. The kids don't want this chicken, and they don't want to visit TKS anymore because of this change. Our family is devastated by this change. Although the indoor & outdoor dining layout is great, as well as their customer service, I can't really say the same thing about the food quality or quantity. I was really eager to visit this location since it's a lot closer to me than the ones in San Diego proper, but I'd rather make the drive further down south. We ordered a wrap, a bowl, and a kids' bowl. All of them had meager amounts of protein, if it was 10% protein, I'm being euphemistic, the rest was all veggies. My kid's bowl only had about 5 or 6 small chunks of carved chicken. On top of that, the tortilla on my wrap, was not lukewarm, but literally cold. We were all hungry after finishing our food, at other locations we leave feeling stuffed. I don't know if this was an anomaly, but I'm not planning on returning any time soon. read more

I ordered a chicken wrap with a side of fries. When asked if I wanted the usual toppings I said yes, the way you usually make it. When I went to pick up the order there were no fries and the counter person explained they are in the wrap. I explained I wanted a side of fries and not a wrap with fries inside they said they would fix it. A few minutes later they brought my wrap and a side of fries. After biting into the wrap and getting a mouth full of fries I realized they didn't bother to remake the wrap, they just cooked a side of fries. I spent my lunch picking the fries out of the wrap. I know food costs are high but if you screw up an order, just remake it the way the customer wanted it. read more

Pros:Tried this location out for the first time. Ordered online to pickup as I live close by. Got a text message that my food was ready less than 10 minutes after I placed it so that was quick!!! Ordered a bowl with various toppings and added extra fries for $1. Interiors was spotless clan and I loved the sauce station. Cons: it was a great portion of food but everything was just kinda slapped in there. When I opened it up less than 20 minutes after ordering everything was a sloppy mess. Part of that was my fault as I should not have had them dress it with Anything. The other down side was got like maybe 6 French fries in the whole bowl.. that was pretty disappointing. But the major problem was the saffron rice. It had a super chemical taste to it that I just couldn't stomach. I only got to eat about half of it before I gave up because I just couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. Will I try it again?
