This review is about the owner of the business, not about any of the employees. I liked them all and loved my hairdresser but I simply won't do business with a company that won't apologize or try to do anything to correct a situation they did terribly wrong. I had a bad experience with them many years ago, when I first moved to MA part time (my husband and I are bicoastal) when the receptionist's (or now I think owner's daughter) waxed my brows and burned my skin. I never said anything but I didn't go back for years. I was married in 2007 and received a 150.00 gift certificate and never used it until 2017 because of that bad first experience (plus my husband doesn't like massages). I was searching for a hairdresser when I came across the gift certificate and decided to give them another chance. I went and was delighted with the new hairdresser and wrote that stylist a great review. I almost never went to the salon because of that bad first experience, but since I had had a good hair appointment, I decided to trust them with facials. I liked Denise but the hairdresser I was seeing said that I should see another person so I did and had no problems with the waxing she did, so I trusted her to do the waxing and blading. Linda started to pick at what has now turned out to be a small cyst on my face. It should have never been messed with and she should have known that it wasn't something that could be extracted by an aesthetician but a dermatologist. The problem is that she REALLY picked at it. When she was doing it, I felt uncomfortable because of the digging and told her that we were leaving town, I would be attending business dinners and didn't want any problems. I was only there to get my face bladed and she asked me if I wanted a quick extraction so I said yes. I had seen her once before. When I got home, I was HORRIFIED! I now had a HUGE mark on my forehead that remained for more than 3 months. I complained and they wanted me to come in but I was in CA---I wasn't going to fly back to have them treat it but I did expect that they might value their customers enough to compensate for making such a terrible mistake. This mark was HUGE; I couldn't cover it up. It was when I returned to the salon and talked to Jen about it and she acted like it was no big deal. She said "These things happen." Um, no they don't happen. And if they do happen, it's because the aesthetician made an error and did something wrong. I got no apology, no credit, nothing. And I was a good customer that they should have tried harder to keep. In the end, it worked out fine becauses I found an even better hair stylist. read more

I've visited this location several times and this last visit was by far the best. I called for a last minute massage since I suffer from joint pains, I was booked for a massage for the same day! I was greated by the sweetest receptionist and Luciane the massage therapist. Luciane is awesome not only did she listen to my needs Luciane gave the massage my body needed. Luciane loves giving massages and it shows in the massage. I walked in with pain and walked out feeling great! I woke up the next morning feeling awesome! Unbelievable!!! I am a little late in writing this review. My daughter has been raving about the facial that she received from Denise. I finally had the wonderful experience. This was like a facial and a massage together. I couldn't believe the attention to detail and compassion. Needless, to say my skin never looked better. I don't know what she did but the fact that my husband notice how great my skin looked is worth noting in the record books. We definitely will be back and we will be bring our friends. The woman who cut my hair was nice enough but there was a lot of catty and gossipy talk going on. It made me feel very uncomfortable. Also after I washed my hair and got a real good look at it it was horrible. Maybe if the woman who cut my hair spent more time focused on what she was doing instead of talking badly about a coworker my hair would have been right. I will most definitely not be back and will recommend that my friends go else where. read more

Richard was fantastic! He had great bedside manner/work etiquette. I have never had a male massage therapist, but he was great and it was the best massage I have ever had. He use the perfect amount of pressure and was able to get out almost all of the knots. I will definitely book another massage with him in the future. read more

The person was kind but I don't like constant upselling of products ... also I left with visible black heads still on my face after a deep cleansing facial with extraction.... I was quoted 85$ for a base cost of a facial with the knowledge that as needed the price would go up for added treatments.... when I went to pay the facial cost 105$ and I was never asked or notified of what extras were being performed for the 20$ more! I have no clue what added the extra expense nor was I given the option to pass on it.... very frustrating! I will not be back! read more

It was the WORST massage I have ever gotten (including my mom). If I could I would rate this place 0 stars. It was like they didn't know what they were doing. It was very painful. Left us wondering if they even had licenses for massage therapy. The continuous up selling took away from something that was supposed to be relaxing too. Terrible experience. If I had to choose a place to have a colonic experience, then Mac Med Spa was the place to do it.  I LOVED the feel of both sides of the Spa, Salon and Medical Spa.  I love the antique feel of both houses and the feel of both places was so warm and welcoming.  Laurie was really wonderful monitoring the colonic experience.  I felt as relaxed and comfortable as I could be.  The only suggestion I would say is that it would have been nice to have had some relaxing music during the 40 minute colonic experience.  Denise was also so wonderful with my ear candling experience.  I loved talking with Denise and found we had many interests in common. She was very thorough and detail oriented with her treatment.  I look forward to coming back in a month or so to have another colonic.  I think my husband will try it as well.  I would also love to have another treatment with Denise.  I would love to chat with her some more!  I will definitely come back for another ear candling experience but I don't think I need that so regularly.  I am so impressed with the warmth and feel of the spa and salon.  It's nothing like the cold and modern feel of Newton (where I live) or Boston. read more

OMG! I can't say enough great things about Mac Med Spa. I had been bouncing around from salon to salon and my "regular stylist" was moving, so it was opportunity to try someplace new and not feel like I was "cheating" ya know. I went in to see Lauren, after my last haircut totally got botched, to see if she could help fix it. BOY DID SHE EVER! My hair never felt and looked better after her touch! From the amazing shampoo experience, literally feels like a personal 10min head massage, its the most amazing shampo experience ever, and that was just the beginning! She then cut my hair, talking me through every step she was doing and makig sure it was everything I was looking for, very attentive to the needs and wants of the client. I re-booked an appointment for 6weeks later to get a trim and a partial foil (she talked me into trying highlights, I was always disappointed with highlights so I just gave up on them before). I also received a call from the owner the very next day to see how my experience at Mac Med was and if I was happy with the service, as she follows up personally with all new clients to assure their expectations were met, I never had this before either, super classy and professional! My foil appointment was last night! I messed up and put the appointment in my phone for Wednesday instead of Thursday (Oops!) well how amazing is she, she came in on her day off just to accomodate me! I thought that was super sweet and couldnt believe she did it for me, it was my 2nd visit with her. She looked at my "inspiration pictures" of what color i was hoping for, and immediately smilied and said "oh ya we I can do that". She foiled my hair and then off to the pedicure chair for her to do my polish change. She was so gentle and did a great job re-painting my toes to a bright purple with sparkle overlay! We then went off to the shampoo chair as my color timer went off, OMG best part... here comes the 10min head massage, and boy was it, it was so relaxing... Then back to the chair to get cut, she used the razor to thin me out and get some bulk out. Grabbed her blow dryer and dried and styled me... My hair came out amazing! I can't say how thankful I am to have finally found my new "it girl" and I will not be salon jumping any longer, my stylist is Lauren at Mac Med Spa and will be from now on! GREAT JOB! read more

I've been to Mac Med Spa a good 5 times over the last 3 or 4 years. Each time for a spa treatment. Usually a facial or a massage. I have not been to MMS for hair or nails. Each and every time I have had a service I have had nothing but a good experience. The prices are reasonable and everyone from the girls at the front desk to the masseuses and estheticians are pleasant and I leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. The only think that I would change would be the way you tip. Cash or check only for tips. Luckily, I just happened to have a blank check on me. I will be seeking their services again soon! ~My last trip was yesterday and I had Melinda as my esthetician. She was super nice and talkative at the right moments! I went for a consultation for cool sculpt vs lipo. Met with doctor that showed a phone video of him doing lipo on himself. I just couldn't get out of my head that he used equipment on himself. I also couldn't get by the room they use (not sanitary) and Debbie ((owner) went on to say that one time nurse did not show up so she stood in. She also took 3 weeks to return the call for me to explain why.i wouldn't go through with lipo with this doctor. Unacceptable. Lastly, doctors fingernails had dirt under them. To me if you are willing to risk your health to save a small amount of money then go forward. For myself it certainly wasn't worth any amount. read more

New Year, New Resolution! I just had a colonic treatment with Suzanne at Mac Med Spa. I'm going back today to book a series and tell my friends about what colonics may do for them! I feel so relaxed and lighter! To sum up my amazing experience, the colonic felt like a swirling hot tub of water that was flushing out harmful toxins that had built up over the years. I'm a pretty healthy eater and balance my life with regular exercise.. Suzanne really was great in getting me to relax and enjoy the experience! She instructed me from the beginning to the end of the colonic and really loves helping people have better colon health! Suzanne also gave me some nutritional helpful hints in improving my diet! Its extremely clean at both locations... There are sooooo many spa treatments at both locations that no other salon or spa in and around Milford area offers...They have off street parking.. I've tried to like this place, I really have. Don't be fooled by the pretty exterior and high prices, you do not get what you pay for. I've had my eye brows waxed a few times there and that was fine, but hair cuts and nails, stay away. Most recently I went to get my nails done. I got a gel manicure and first of all, she rushed. I was in that chair maybe fifteen minutes...i've had my nails done many times and I should have been the one giving the manicure because she clearly had no idea what she was doing. Then to top it all off, my nails were sloppy and peeling before I even left the salon, then when I asked her to fix them in front of her next client, I swear she rolled her eyes. Never going back again. Such a waste of time and money. read more

I've been coming to Mac Med Spa for 10+ years now and every time I go I am absolutely blown away by the staff and my overall experience. I truly am in love with this place. Everytime I have come here everone here is so friendly, welcoming and professional. This was the first time I was working with Katie. I was nervous at first because I have had the same 2 hair stylist for years and also have never gone this drastic color wise! But Katie was so knowledgeable and helpful. I had called a few days prior to my appointment to discuss my options and what I wanted. She told me they didn't carry the exact colors I wanted but Kristen another associate who works there went out of her way and picked up the Goldwell Color I wanted which was super above and beyond what I expected. When I got there Katie grabbed the swatch book to show me the color combinations I could do. Katie really broke every thing down and explained everything she was going to do with my hair which helped me feel confident in my choices. I went with a very fun and vibrant orange color which I loveeeee I highly recommend the Goldwell color line. I absolutely will come back to get touch ups done which is necessary for such a vibrant color but wouldn't go anywhere else. I do highly recommend Mac Med Spa and Katie the hair stylist there.
