I spent 2 & a half hours getting makeup application for a wedding I was attending only to walk out looking terrible with a foundation at least 2 to 3 times darker than my normal complexion & feeling like an Oompah Loompah!!!! Not only was the makeup the wrong color, but it only emphasized the wrinkles around my eyes. I would not go to MacMed Spa for a makeup application! So disappointing!!! read more

I have been going to Mac Med Spa for various appointments throughout the years and feel that now during Covid they have gone above and beyond. I was nervous for my first appointment after Covid started but staff helped me feel safe through the new procedures. I moved to the area recently within the last year or so. Have gone here twice. The last woman I saw was pretty good and aggressive with getting at my clogged pores and making my skin look great. The woman I saw before that was very light with extractions so it wasn't the greatest facial I have had. I ended up re-booking with the woman I saw (wish I could remember her name) in 6 weeks. The prices here are really great so you cannot beat that and the Victorian house is really cute too. I would recommend it to anyone that recently moved to the area- Cheaper than Newbury Street by hundreds of dollars just have to make sure you ask questions and tell them what you're looking for when booking. read more

What an experience... I came in for a 1 hour massage which was pleasant. My biggest issue is how dirty the spa actually was. I went in feeling completely fine and less than 24 hours later I was in urgent care getting treated for a nasty bacterial infection. I would not recommend this spa to anyone. I attempted to reach the owner Debbie several times and she never reached back out to me. The prices certainly don't match the quality of work. Definitely not worth the money or the risk of getting extremely ill. read more

I was back in town and needed some time for myself so I figured I would take some me time at a spa instead of a regular nail salon for some added pampering. Unfortunately I was not impressed with the service I received there. Not only was my manicurist annoying, but after she ended up making me bleed she blamed me for asking for short cuticles. The last time I checked the whole point of getting a manicure is to keep your nails all neat and tidy, this would include cuticles. I would neither recommend this place to anyone, nor will I ever go back when back in town. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I used to love this place.. Really. They use pretty good products but over the last year and a half their prices have gotten outrageous! Prices for a regular facial went from 60 to 65 to 70 and now 75. I cannot imagine paying that much for a basic facial unless they are putting pure gold on it or something. Outrageous. I've recommended the place over the years to multiple friends and family but the prices are so steep.. None of us can afford it. read more

Daughter and I went to have a french style pedi and manicure. I opted for the gel while my daughter had a full set of acrylics applied. What a disappointment. My manicurist cut me under one of my nails and upon closer inspection of my toes on the way out of the salon, I noticed my two big toes were scuffed on the white tips. My daughter's nails were horrible! Her fingers were covered in spattered polish and one of her existing nails was hanging out the side of one of the acrylics. She was so upset that immediately took her to another salon to have them taken care of. Overall, I found the quality of the manicures not up to par and do not plan to return. read more

Expected your average spa setup and experience. What we got was basically a house with some massage beds in the rooms. ... It was ok, just quite unexpected. It was awkward to get undressed in what looked and felt like someone else's house/bedroom. Once the massage started, it was nice. I could tell the woman was trained well. However, what was supposed to be a relaxing hot stone massage quickly turned into a chilly and loud one. The bed was not heated (I didn't know it should have been until after the massage was done), the lotions/oils and stones themselves were chilly. I actually shivered more than once throughout it. The thought, "when is this going to be over" crossed my mind more than once during the hour session. How did the woman massaging me not realize the temperature of the things in her hands? There were 3 interruptions throughout the experience, too (items were dropped twice, clanging loudly, and the woman's cell phone went off, too). When the massage was over, I couldn't wait to get out of there. I paid and left. When an email prompting me to rate my experience was in my inbox the next day, I told the truth. I got a response saying how terrible it was that that was my experience, and that they would put a credit on my account for the next time I come in. I do not live in the area, and probably wouldn't go back because my experience was so poor. I said this, and asked if there was any way to be refunded instead of getting the credit. The response was just a cold reiteration that there would be a credit in my account. I will not be returning, and I do not recommend this "spa." read more

I just moved to the area and have been looking for a new place to get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed. I'm going to continue to go to Mac Med for now, but I'm a bit on the fence about it. The first time I went, the technician really worked with me to get my eyebrows exactly the way I like them, but I felt that my upper lip was still a little on the fuzzy side. I went back this morning to a different tech, who seemed to do a really good job on the upper lip, but wouldn't let me see my eyebrows until she was done, at which point I realized they were totally not the way I like them and it was too late to do anything about it. I think maybe I just need to find the right aesthetician here for me. I appreciate the spa-like atmosphere of the place, but some of it seems a little over the top. Also, I should note that tips have to be paid in cash, but the pricing seems very reasonable to me. read more

I've gone to Mac Med for years as has my daughter. Becca always does a great job and is willing to take the time to educate. She's awesome. So when I was planning my wedding I knew that I would be going to Mac Med for my hair. I inquired about make-up also and was told Sarah was fantastic. I had no idea! She did a phenomenal job and I was overjoyed with the way I looked as I walked down the aisle. The owner Deb came over to talk with me also which helped calm my nerves. I am NOT savvy with my hair at all, so of course I didn't want to be left to my own devices when styling a 'do for my best friend's wedding. I booked with Mac Med because they were close by our hotel and they had the best reviews out of any other salon in the area. I am so happy I did! Christina did a great job styling my hair and trying to do what I wanted with hair that wouldn't necessarily hold the style (my hair is fine AF). I asked for a crown braid with the rest of my hair down and wavy. She overcurled my hair to allow it to fall a bit into the softer waves I wanted. It came out beautifully, held up to a night of dancing, and best of all, I didn't have to comb out half my hair at the end of the night - snarl free! She was having a bit of trouble achieving a crown braid (I mean, I pretty much suck at it, so I understood), and she called for reinforcements (her coworker Becca). Becca did a great job making my braid tight but not severe, and she was as sweet as Christina was. The interior was decorated in a very eclectic style - gold tiled ceiling, purple everything, hodge podge decor - even the lines in the parking lot were painted pink! I could have just hung out there taking it in all day. read more

I recently had a facial here and the esthetician applied a product without knowing whether or not it would have a negative reaction with the products in my current skincare routine. I now have blistered and raw skin all over my nose, where the treatment was applied. I will undoubtedly have scarring as a result. I love this place! I've never been disappointed after coming here. For years I have been getting my hair done, massages, spray tans, and facials, and every person has done an amazing job. I went in to get a facial after a year long hiatus (due to a move out of the area) and it was everything I could have hoped for. Dimizra was extremely kind, understanding, and professional. She listened to my concerns and customized my facial exactly how I liked it to be done and did a truly amazing job! She knows exactly what she's doing and shows a level of confidence that makes you feel comfortable in her ability to give you the results you seek. My skin has been causing me issues lately and after this facial it looks and feels wonderful. I would certainly recommend her to anyone. I brought my mom in with me while I was getting my facial and she had a massage with Beth. It being her first massage, she wasn't sure what to expect. Once we got home she raved about Beth being kind and walking her through everything so she was comfortable. She said she feels great this morning and never realized how many knots she had in her back that were problematic and caused her daily pain. Beth was able to address every one of her concerns and did a really great job. She said she would definitely recommender and is now excited to come back. I couldn't be more pleased with our results. After getting many great treatments in Boston, I'd consider Mac Med Spa one of the only spas out of the city that can truly compete in quality. My daughter is too embarrassed to let me post the photo of her burns! So I can only describe the horrific strips of pink burnt flesh (1/4"x1" wide) that covered my daughter's eyelids after getting her eyebrows waxed by Cece- ATROCIOUS! Not only did she burn and wax off her flesh but also half her eyebrows after telling her she would start with "just a little" and show her afterwards (which she didn't) she did not even match them up the same AND she burned her eyelids severely!! Only the 2nd time she had it done (first time by someone else) and shame on me for letting her get them done 3 days before her final Senior Yearbook photo was to be taken!!! I couldn't believe what a horrible job was done at a place that gets some good reviews. Although they "fixed" her eyebrows 'to match' on portrait day by filling them in with an eyebrow pencil, we had to remove half of the makeup piled on her face during her comp makeover even though we mentioned she doesn't wear much makeup at all. In the end, they did what they could to make up for such a horrible mishap (and I appreciate the effort) but it doesn't make up for the awful burns and misshaped eyebrows that my daughter now has to grow in after letting those painful burns heal. A temporary fix for a huge mistake! I would think twice before getting your eyebrows waxed there - hopefully yours will match, hopefully yours won't be thinned out to half their fullness unless that's what you want and hopefully you won't get your eyelids burned beyond belief! Never again will we step foot in this place. My daughter and I were both horrified after such a shabby mess and are left to wait months while her eyebrows grow back in! And this was the second issue I dealt with fixing here that isn't worth writing more about. read more

This is an average score taking into account all the times ive had appointments at Mac Med. Gia, who's no longer there, was the best eyebrow aesthetician ive ever had. I now see Linda (aesthetician Linda) who is super fast, efficient and is my new go to for brows, facials, etc. Linda (hairdresser Linda) does the best partial foil ive literally ever had and Luciana is a rockstar at everything! Shes the only one Id trust with more extensive/semi invasive procedures like the KTP and (im not sure what it is called) but i spoke to her a while back about the scar removal procedure. I know its kind of painful so im still debating but if i do decide to get it done it would only be because she is there. She performs almost every service offered here and is the best of the best. DO NOT let her go! Shes the real deal!!! This is the best spa around the blackstone valley (probably MA but most of my spa visits have taken place in this vacinity). You wont be sorry! read more
