He was yelling at my niece when we went for a smog (in two different cars) I explained to him she's a new driver please don't yell at her, to which he replied then you drive then! While I was in my car moving it as he instructed. Once he did the smog my niece and I had questions about the paperwork he wanted us to fill out and he began yelling at us saying no one else asks these questions. I took my car here to get smogged after a day of running errands. I didn't feel like going to my usual place on High St, and based on the reviews this place seemed like the place to go. It was confusing knowing where to go for the smog since it's located at a gas station. The gas station attendant was kind enough to redirect me to the garage. There was a car ahead of me so there was somewhat of a wait time, but I didn't mind since this was going to be my last stop. Process might've taken 30-45min from the time I inquired about the smog, until it was good to go. I will say, this place was significantly more expensive than the place I normally visit on High St, so ask before you commit, and do it quick because the person running this place will distract you with how eager and friendly they are read more

Beware! This smog shop is unprofessional and unethical! Smog tech doesn't know the protocol of performing a smog inspection. They will smog your car with a check engine light (which is instructed by bureau of automotive and I no problem) but after repairs and light turns off and we return to get the free retest. He hooks up his code reader (which is illegal by BAR) and refuse to retest due to history code. Why would you take customer money, smog with check engine light but when we return for a retest you create an extra hurdle for retest? Anyway long story short we took it to a professional smog shop and they performed smog inspection the correct way and car passed. To the business owner please advise your smog tech on his next update class (required every 2 years) he attends to ask instructor for correct protocol of smog check. What he's doing with hooking up his code reader before smog is illegal. read more

Initially, I brought my car in and it didn't pass smog. The gentleman working at MacArthur Smog told me to bring it back, after I resolved the engine issue, indicating he would not charge me for a second check. When I returned for the second smog check, my car passed, and true to his word he did not charge me. Both times, the service was fairly quick. I experienced racism at this smog check station. A few weeks ago I came up to the smog check and asked the man there if he has air for tires. My tire was severely flat. He said no. Today, I was getting gas at the location where his smog check is at. I saw him putting air in someone's tire, a white man with a Mercedes. I went to this place bc it has a 1) coupon, 2) close to where I live and 3) it has great ratings. My car is very old ('98) and SUV so I expect to pay more regardless of where I go. Like they said on their website...quick, in and out...and that was how it was. I chilled at the seating area for like 30 seconds then crossed the street to check out what was selling at the Quickie Mart for like 10 minutes, then headed back and my car was done. I got to talk to Adam, the smog technician, for a bit. He seemed like a serious no-nonsense kind of guy but he turned out to be hella cool and very funny too. First, the owner was a little bit rude, but I thought that because of covid this might have been just a protective measure, which is reasonable, but I was wearing a mask and keeping my distance. Second, the website coupon for $30 off only works for one test only. If your car fails the check, you can't retest. Nowhere on the website and coupon you can read this caveat. Finally, he failed my car because the engine light was ON about the coolant thermostat, which is not related to the emissions. The smoke test was clean, just the engine light was on. When I asked him about it, he just ignored it and said it was not enough. Now I have to retest, but will never go back there again. read more

Simple explanation as to why this place has barely "earned" ONE star. We paid $80 to have our car smogged last week. Car failed due to a minor issue. Came back to retest after we fixed the problem. Their equipment failed and wasn't sending the information to the DMV. Told us to come back so they could do that. We came back today. Began testing but said for the $7 we'd have to pay cash. Kind of a crappy move seeing that we had to come back just to have it retested so the information would transfer to the DMV. Fine it is what it is. We asked for our car so we could drive to our bank to collect the cash we needed. We aren't carrying cash. We aren't paying for anything with cash due to the current COVID safety precautions that are suggested. Everyone is using card. It's SAFER. But, after inconveniencing us by making us come back due to faulty equipment on their part you'd think they would have cut us a break and let us use our card...safety precautions aside. We asked to take the car to get cash. The only ATM nearby is at the quickie mart across the street which costs a crap ton in fees. The man had our car hooked up to the test machine...hadn't run the test or transmitted the certificate and REFUSED to give us our car. Kept yelling at us to go across the street and get cash. Of course you can imagine my boyfriend's reaction was less than sweet. It was incredibly rude and quite frankly illegal to hold onto our property that way and bully us into paying for a SMOG that hadn't even happened or been transferred to the DMV yet. This is our go-to place for gas and has been our go-to place for SMOG for years. That changed today. They aren't getting a penny more of our money and we are going to look into who we can report this type of action to. It's not right. Being a jerk business with broken equipment, wanting cash during a pandemic to make an extra buck and making petty claims about the credit card fee is one thing but holding someone's property hostage like that and bullying them into using a certain ATM and paying for your services is another. Zero stars if I could. Went to this place because of the online coupon and the fact that whenever I drive by, their is never a line. I now know why. Took my '04 Grand Marquis there that I've had for 10 years and has passed smog with no problems every time. The tech was rude and wearing birkenstocks when I presented the coupon. He advised with an attitude, "only one test with coupon, no retest if needed." I should have left then. The coupon 'lowered' the price to $49 from $79. Not a bargain, but I stayed because I was there.... Thirty minutes later he gives me the computer printout which showed that the car passed all of the computer tests, but he failed the car based on his 'visual inspection', in his birkenstocks... His explanation was rude and he alleged I tampered with the exhaust for performance... ON A GRAND MARQUIS.... Went to another shop and passed. Never again..... You've been warned.... read more

This shop is conveniently located near my home. That is the main reason I go there. The staff is Turkish so expect a Turkish experience. Tech has a dry sense of humor but I find him kind of entertaining and he gets the job done. Today he told me they no longer need to see the $30 coupon, just mention it.
