Highlights were the sausage rolls and cold specialty coffee. Just like it's name, Caffe Fantastico is fantastic! The harbour location is huge, has tons of seating area inside and outside. Since the weather was nice, we decided to sit on the patio, and the views was lovely from the patio. We had a flat white and a pumpkin spice latte, and they were both tasty! Love their actual mugs to drink the lattes. We got a peanut butter cookie as well and it was delicious. The barista was friendly and provided good service. It's also next to fol épi which is also a great spot for some baked goods. I highly recommend this coffee shop! read more

I went to this place three times during covid and just recently i went back with a friend - eager to show her this funky spot. When I'd been there before, my husband and I had really enjoyed every lunch we'd had plus the coffees. But this last time, my friend and I had a little difficulty getting attention and then we stood at the counter to make our orders. I asked what the soup was that day. I was told they never have soup. I literally had had soup each time I'd been! So I mentioned that but the person at the till stated, 'The owners are not the kind of people who have soup.' I was very embarrassed and really didn't know what to say to that! My friend was mortified too. Like, what the heck! What does that mean - not that kind of people. The cashier/server was pretty rude - neither of us tipped. We won't be going back. We have found new favourites! And they serve soup! read more

I really like Caffe Fantastico's vibe, especially this location that has the deli connected! The barista's have been nice the two times I've been at this location. This location is really convenient for me, since it's walking distance from my family's house in Vic West and there aren't very many coffee shops in the area (there's a Starbucks but not what I want!). However, each time I've ordered a chai latte, it's always lacked the flavor I want in a chai! They've tasted mostly like steamed milk. When I most recently visited I asked them to make it stronger, and it was just as bland as before. Maybe their espresso drinks are better, but I was disappointed with their chai! read more

Unique food but the service is very flawed. We ordered a simple cheese plate and waited and waited and waited. We grabbed up our number 24 table tent and went to check. Millenial number looks around then looks befuddled. She says, "there's nothing for a number 24, then just looks at me. Finally she decides to check with millenial number two. She has no clue either. She tells me she will sort it out. We go back to the table and waited and waited and waited. I grabbed millenial three and explained the problem. She said she was just a dishwasher. I said, get me the manager. Manager says, I am sorry, we will make it. We waited and waited. Manager brings it over, tells me that it took longer because there were two orders in front of us. Basically we got put into the que after they lost our order and we had to ask twice to get it. No real remorse form them just excuses. Caffe Fantastico is arguably the best coffee shop in town. True coffee experts, they will NEVER give you a latte when you order a cappucino (shudder) as many other trendy coffee shops do. The employees are highly trained and always in top spirits. I can depend on them to have the answer to any of my questions about roasting/brewing/growing. Showed up from out of town on a beautiful Tuesday spring evening on to grab a light evening meal on the patio...however the kitchen was already closed... bummer right? Not even close. Kayla Brown worked some magic and created a spectacular customized charcuterie plate from the deli and suggested some excellent wine to accompany. Dinner was saved in epic fashion under the setting sun and overlooking the harbour. Several of the items were locally sourced and prices were reasonable for quantity and quality. To top it off, Kayla suggested and wrote down a couple of other local spots to enjoy nearby while in town, sharing an insiders knowledge. Food was fantastic but service was even better. Won't be going back. As I live in the neighbourhood, it was nice to have a place close by to go for a coffee and treat. However, after the last half dozen times I've gone I've been disappointed. The coffee (latte) was lukewarm at best, even when I asked for "extra hot" and each baked item I had was dry and lacked flavour. Heating the items up would improve them somewhat but there isn't any way for them to do that. I know it's a a no-no to heat up quality coffee in the microwave but it would be much better than lukewarm. I ended up not even finishing my coffee and threw out my baked items. Something has changed and if things don't improve, I would expect others will also choose to go elsewhere. At least at Starbucks you can be guaranteed to have piping hot coffee and have the option to heat up your food if that's what you want. read more

Usually I hit this spot up in the mornings, which it's great for because you get the morning sun on your face with your coffee. But yesterday I hit it up after work. We enjoyed a charcuterie, a green salad and rose (also check out the colour of that rose, it's beautiful!). It's definitely not as lively as the mornings but great place to catch up with a friend. I love coming to Caffe Fantastico on the weekends. The location is great! Just a skip and a jump from my place and right off the galloping goose. Bikers from all over gather for delicious brews and eats. I love to sit by the window with my green tea latte and watch the city wake up. The specials are always inventive and tasty. The servers seem very passionate about what they are selling. How cute are the little bottles of flowers on each table?! I love how they represent the seasons were are currently in. The Caffe can get pricy if you are a foodie like myself. So beware of getting too addicted ;). read more

I've gone here because it's convenient and a good alternative to the Starbucks and the Buon Amici's nearby. It's also right beside Fol Epi and had an outdoor sitting area to enjoy a view of the Bay bridge area. I haven't really experienced too much of the stink that Dawna's talking about, although I think I might know what she means because it does get pretty bad sometimes because of the composting site nearby. They roast their own coffee and the finesse involved in such a practice is palatable. Their flat white was lovely, the barista skilled and the espresso parameters were on point. Staff are both friendly and knowledgeable. I sampled their nitro (hand pulled draft coffee), and it was damn good. Best Americano in Victoria. Watch the rowers and cyclists go by. The staff are super friendly and its nice to go for a walk through the water greenway while sipping on your latte. As the development fills in, the ambiance will only improve. There used to be an unpleasant odor outside due to some complications with the on site water treatment facility (it is a green complex after all) but they seem to have remedied the problem now. While the food was good, our experience was so horrible I would give it nothing more than a one star rating. The manager went out of her way to leave a horrible lasting impression for us to the point where we will never be returning and we will certainly be sharing our experience. On top of denying our pregnant friend access to the washroom facilities (eventually they did let her thankfully) despite being paying guests ($40 bill + tip) the manager tried to accuse us of sitting at a table that was for other customers although we also purchased from that restaurant. We had absolutely fantastic service and experience with the adjoining restaurant, Fol Epi, and would highly recommend anyone in the area to forego Fantastico and go straight to Fol Epi. read more

Caffe Fantastico's "Causeway Fantastico" is my favourite coffee in Victoria so far! I must mention though that I am not a coffee expert and I love my coffee with milk :) Wherever I go, it always takes quite some time for me to find my personal favourite coffee beans in a new city and after trying a few different coffee beans... (I liked bows and arrows' the hathaway for a while! And I don't like fruity and bitter when it comes to my coffee)... for now this is my favourite coffee in Victoria. Extra*: The people at fantastic have been always very friendly and helpful and regarding their location at harbour road, it is a very nice place also because FOL EPI is right next doors! I'm never coming back!! The coffee tastes like it comes from a machine that hasn't been cleaned in ages, it's overpriced and the staff is super grouchy. I am done with this establishment. As a visitor to the area staying near the harbor, this place is a bit off the beaten path... though that is not to say it's not worth the extra steps on your pedometer. While the vibe inside is cool, the view is not the greatest as Caffe Fantastico abuts an industrial area. Inside though, is decidedly where it's at. We ordered a ton of small bites--I can't even remember everything. I DO remember that the olives were good. While I don't remember what else we ordered from a food standpoint, I do remember there were no complaints. Ringing endorsement so far, right? Well--it's not the food you come for (though as I said, it doesn't disappoint)--you come here for the coffee. And if it was the coffee alone for which I based my number of stars, it would be a solid five. I had a perfectly done cappuccino... and since we were around for a while (meeting friends who showed up well after us) I tried my first (I had never even heard of it before) cold brew on nitro! What?--as someone who is totally digging any BEER on nitro and is un-apologetically addicted to coffee, I had to try it. It was really cool and defies description (by me). If you haven't tried this, you must. I've never seen it anywhere else so come here and give it a try. read more

Like 2% Jazz Cafe Fantastico knows coffee. They do not do it halfway either. I think they are the only place in town with the Golden Cup award for their drip coffee. They are also micro roasting company and know how to properly pull a coffee, unlike so many coffee shops. Love to grab a coffee at this place when I am in the area. read more

This is a good place to go for a proper espresso. The vast majority of coffee shops cannot get this right, these folks get it right.

Best coffee in town, and with Fol Epi right next to it you can enjoy an awesome pastry with your delicious coffee. Highly recommended.

To be fair, this almost gets 2 stars because the espresso drinks taste quite good. The drip coffee is lousy and not organic which is below what competitors offer at the same prices nowadays. The big problem with this place is apathetic staff that seem bothered when doing their job. I've given up expecting a smile and a hello from the staff here. I'll just settle for not getting an annoyed face and an eye roll when I ask for a coffee or some ice in a glass. I do acknowledge that the Kings and the Humboldt locations of Cafe Fantastico are better than what I am describing here. It's just this particular location is consistently terrible. At least the coffee portion of it. If it wasn't right beside the excellent Fol Epi, this location would fail. I recommend stopping elsewhere for your coffee then going to Fol Epi. With how long it takes them to make your drink, it won't take any more time. I give the coffee a C and the service an F. read more

The location is great, the coffee is really good but the service is just crap. No where else do I experience such surly, unfriendly service. Located next to a bike store and the Galloping Goose it attracts hordes of cyclists yet when I ordered and paid for a dozen americanos this morning I am treated to a barista who slams coffees on the bar like my order is an inconvenience, begrudgingly provides us with cream and just generally makes me feel like I shouldn't be there.
