The the waitress was very kind and sweet had a little bit of attitude, but I'm low-key into the naughty attitude. The owner was such a great person. I got to try the Keylime shots. The piano was lovely. John is great

When you arrive you're greeted by the clean and welcoming exterior and a red carpet rolled out for your prime experience here. Inside you find low-lit fun and quirky cowgirl bougie decor with luxurious and plush eating (I mean... these seats feel like a nice ride in a leather couch. The chairs are sturdy and comfy without being super heavy and they slide nicely.) Everyone there is so warm and welcoming especially when they find out it's your first time. They want it to be the first of MANY!!! Now, where to begin on the delicious eats that await you. They are knowledgeable with Celiac and gluten allergies. Designated fryer for rice flour items. I opted for the Sin City... Take me there and buy me TEN of these! Great mix of tequila, creme de Violette and lime! I had to have a second! Had the large Caesar salad, added grilled chicken, no croutons (they do make their own though... We subbed to cucumbers for GF)... Generous portion to share for 3 or even 4 smaller side salads. Then it was on to the tender fried calamari... GF with Rice flour and dis I mention a dedicated fryer?!?! Served with marinara AND sweet chili Thai sauce JIC you can't decide. For everything else it's a la carte... We shared the Large Potatoes au gratin ... Reminds me of my Mama's Mac and cheese pie with plenty of eggs, cream, cheese and a couple potatoes, almost like a souffle! And the small creamed spinach... Wish we had gotten the large one of those too. Great roasted garlic flavor and nice fresh wilted spinach. Mom opted for the pork chop (which she didn't hop on immediately and it cooked a little long since it was still resting and cooking while she was enjoying all the other side items... It was still very good but might want to order medium rare of you don't plan on cutting into it right away. I opted for the grass fed sirloin... This 16 oz felt more like a 26 oz with nice fatty rimming and a succulent center that was prepared PERFECTLY medium rare and in some spots even a nice lending more rare center. Just the way I like it ... I had leftovers and didn't feel overly stuffed nor sick like you can sometimes feel with a bunch of rich food. I didn't try it because it wasn't GF but Mom said the she crab soup had a little much Old Bay which was over powering for a she crab soup. I could smell it though so I can imagine what she's saying... In my opinion, the scallops weren't worth it but they weren't a bad price AT ALL ... They ran a little on the smaller side and were just slightly over cooked for my taste. Will definitely try the LOCAL Shrimp next time!!! The burger was also ordered at the table but they prefer their meat well done, so I can't be a good judge to that. Also, no GF buns but I don't fault them there. The steak fries were nice and crispy on the outside and potatoes on the inside. A solid GF steak fry! That being said ... Can't wait to return and bring friends!

Delicious! Great service Whit. I had the pork chops and the others got the Grass fed Ribeye and a burger. Sides of Potatoes au gratin with creamed spinach. And dessert was Cream Brûlée!! A quiet place to enjoy with family and Friends.

wonderful 25th Anniversary dinner at 17 Prime Steakhouse in West Ashley. Our server Kaitlyn was outstanding and made our time even more special. The Grouper and the Filet were both EXCELLENT. The Creme Brulee topped off the evening. Thanks for a memorable meal and 25th.

Walking in we had no idea what to expect and they really surpassed our expectations. Beautiful ambiance piano playing low in the background. Service was fantastic, management made us feel like VIP's. Had a chance to meet the owner who was a wonderful man and person and made us feel like family. The food was tremendous I had a filet my wife had the prime rib and they were incredible. This is what west Ashley had been missing!! Cannot wait for the patio and roof bar to be done.

I can't find a place on their website to make a reservation online. I can't find them listed on Resy or OpenTable. I guess you have to call them when they're open and make reservations over the phone?

I am planning on trying soon, do I need a reservation/do they accept reservations?

    Yes it's best.

The first floor was composed mainly of booths; the second level (where we ate) had table seating; and the third floor had tables as well. Like any great steakhouse, there was a lot of wood, but thanks to the rugs and curtains, the restaurant never became loud. The food was absolutely superb! The steak was perfectly cooked, and my tile fish could not have been flakier or tastier. The sides were spectacular. The crab cake had coleslaw as a topping. I had never seen that combination before. It sounds strange, but it really worked! The oysters, just try them, and you will have them again. Great food without great service leaves an experience unfulfilled. The service at Oak was exceptional! It was my wife's birthday, and I noted that on the online reservation. She was greeted at check-in with a happy birthday wish, the menu had "happy birthday" printed on it, and the dessert she ordered was brought to our table, as shown in the photo. Our server was absolutely exceptional. Just a great experience that will be repeated.

The restaurant itself is lovely in a historic setting with 3 floors and a lot of classic, traditional touches. First things first, the service was wonderful. We had a reservation and were immediately sat by the hostess and greeted by our server. He gave us recommendations and told us half orders of the sides were available since it was only my husband and I. We had a glass of rose and a glass of red, nothing special but what you expect and at a place like this you expect to pay $15/glass. We ordered the New York strip, half orders of Brussels and mushrooms and the steak frites with truffle fries and bernaise sauce. The steaks were cooked very well which was great (it is a steakhouse), but honestly just tasted like pepper. The bernaise sauce was watery, cold and flavorless. The Brussels had some flavor, but nothing to knock your socks off and pretty much the same with the mushrooms. Honestly, the star of the show were the truffle fries. Crispy, lots of flavor and hot. You obviously have higher expectations when coming into an establishment such as Oak and sadly it let me down. There's other fabulous restaurants in Charleston and honestly other steakhouses I'd recommend. I'm glad we tried it, but I won't be rushing back.

My friend and I sat at our table for about 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. I finally flagged down a waitress, who apologized and explained they were short staffed. She took our drink order, and then a different server came over later to take our food order. I ordered the Mediterranean wrap with no onions, but it came out with onions anyway. Our server was nowhere to be found, so I started picking around them and eating the wrap. A few minutes later, she came back with the corrected wrap, but by then I'd already started eating the first one. The flavors of the wrap were actually good, but the texture of the chicken was awful. It was so off putting that it honestly made me nauseous. I only managed a few bites before I was done, and no one ever asked if everything was okay or why I had barely touched my meal. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful. The atmosphere is what really stands out. It feels like you're dining inside a church, and I believe it actually is a restored church. Between the stained glass, the artwork, and the writing on the walls, it's a really unique and impressive space. I'd probably come back for drinks because the bar looked like it had a great vibe, and the bartender seemed to be providing excellent service. Next time, I'd definitely sit at the bar, but I don't think I'd order the food again.

Our bartender was incredibly sweet and helpful when it came to choosing what to order and made us feel welcome from the start. There was also live music that night, which my husband was especially excited about since they were playing 80s covers. The menu focuses on Lowcountry cuisine, and everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the clams and then shared the pork chop and BBQ tuna. Every dish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The cocktails were smooth, well made, and paired perfectly with the meal. To make the evening even more special, our bartender brought us two glasses of bubbles to celebrate my birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Great food, great drinks, live music, and genuinely excellent service. It was the perfect way to kick off our Charleston trip. It was rich, flavorful, and while the presentation looked a bit like dog food, it was otherwise the perfect way to kick off the meal. For the table, we also shared the Roasted Carrots, served with chamomile honey, labneh, puffed rice, candied peanuts, and an olive crumble. I know, carrots aren't always a "must-order," but trust me - they were fantastic. We also couldn't pass up the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread with Broadbent bacon crumble mixed throughout. Southern comfort food!!! For my entree, I ordered the Blueberry & Corn Salad, which was anything but an ordinary salad. Between the BBQ pecans, ricotta salata, bacon fat honey mustard, and fresh seasonal ingredients, every bite was packed with flavor. One friend ordered the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo with compressed cantaloupe, marigold, and leche de tigre. It was bright, refreshing, and beautifully plated. Our other friend opted for the South Carolina Golden Tilefish, served with Kindlewood Farms summer squash and serrano, and it, too, was a hit. For drinks, one friend enjoyed a glass of wine while I ordered the Dragoon Punch. I'll admit, I was a little disappointed to learn my beloved Primrose Path was no longer on the menu. I even asked if they could make one, but unfortunately they were missing one of the ingredients. No worries, the Dragoon Punch was delicious and a worthy replacement.
